I'm glad you told me about going about 300 calories over because that is what I was doing for a while. Then, it just got out of hand. I have several hobbies but I'm actually working on my doctorate degree. When I have a major paper do like I do Wednesday, my anxiety level goes up and I just eat and eat while working on the paper. I tried starting it ahead of time and that seems to help with alleviating the stress. Also, I have so much to loose. Over 100 pounds.

I do agree with the others on here.

Just take it one day at a time. I do think that as soon as you are able to (I don't know how close you are to the computer most days), track your meals. Whether it be before or shortly after, it will help. At least for me, when I put it in, I can (obviously) see how many calories I have left for the day and that helps me to plan my next meal and I adjust it accordingly. I RARELY stay within range; I'm usually about 300 calories over, but I figure at this point, although I am trying to lose (and I am, a little slower than I want, but at least it's moving), I just want to keep track and when I am ready, I will make it within the range. I am getting better every day and am making small changes, but I try not to stress about it. If I look at my tracker and realize that if I have something small before bedtime I will go over, I don't worry about it because I know if I don't, it will be worse at 2 am when I wake up starving and decide to pig out.

Do you have any hobbies that can keep you busy? Whether it be reading, taking a walk, organizing, etc, it does help to keep the calorie count down. There will be days when it won't go so great, but try not to beat yourself up over it.

I don't know what you eat, but even if you make small changes, it will help you to not overeat so much, whether it be having a high-fiber sandwich or adding a serving of fruit or veggies to your meals. It does help with most cravings, too. Once you are eating a lot better, most of the cravings should stop; not all, but most.

Sometimes the way I write can come across the wrong way. I apologize if I offend anyone. I also have a habit of writing LOOOOOOOONG posts. Again, my apologies.

I think that if you track first, you might be more inclined to stay on track, or at least, do less damage.

You have noted your very high anxiety - is this normal for you, or as the result of your recent relationship ending? If you generally suffer from anxiety, and if you don't have a Therapist to help you, that you make an appointment with your Dr and discuss this with him/her, and ask for a referral to a Therapist.

Thanks for the advice. I have very high anxiety and when I'm alone, I really overeat. I also broke up with my boyfriend recently and that has me on edge. I have my meals planned out for tomorrow. Thanks again for your support. Sherry

Sherry, just pick yourself up and start over. Examine what you've learned from this experience. What triggers (foods, events, emotions) can you identify? What behaviors can you change? What can you do right now to love yourself and be kind to yourself? Drink some water. Take a 20 minute walk. Write down your next meal. Tell yourself you are taking care of yourself because you deserve it. Every time you catch yourself saying "I can't," or some self-punishing thoughts, replace it with "I am taking good care of myself and I deserve to be well."

Help. I was doing so well with my calorie counting and then fell off the charts. It's so bad now that I just eat whatever and add the calories later. Why can't I stay on track? Sherry
