If you have a doctor you can go to, you may find that it's a simple problem that just requires some different movements or exercises and stretches to solve. Keep icing the knee, even if it's not currently hurting - soft tissue injuries take a while to heal.
Make sure that if you're doing any sort of body weight exercises and stretching, you never extend your knee past your foot - it's a common reason for knee strain.
