Over-scheduling our time can really take it's toll on us. You have done well in that you have identified that you need to learn to say "NO" - be selective!!

I can understand the Boston Marathon events getting you down - NZ has had a lot of coverage of it, too, but I guess it wouldn't be anywhere near as much as you have gotten via radio, general conversations at work/home etc. Sometimes we need to learn to turn a TV or Radio off, or just have a Radio on a music station.

I hope that the rest of your issues resolve positively. Remember that we are here for you if you need to talk!

Living in Boston this week had to have been a nightmare. Anyone would have felt like hunkering down and seeking comfort. And then add to that no time to rest and recover and you are in a tough place. Last summer we had massive fires within a few miles of my house, and it was terrifying. I now understand the impact of a community event on even the people who aren't directly victimized by the situation.

Like KOOSHKY, I went through a very hard time and reluctantly used doctor-prescribed medication. It made such a difference in my life, I felt at last like I was coming out of a dark hole. If this is something that has been going on for a long time, don't be afraid to seek help. I am SO glad I did.

I'm glad you're doing better today!

Today's excuses are tomorrow's regrets dressed in disguise.

If you eat crap, you feel like crap and that makes you want more crap.

thank you, everyone.
it feels good to know you care. i am feeling better this morning. sometimes it gets to be too much. i know part of the problem is that i live in the boston area, and the events of this week have been horrific. and the constant coverage-- even at the gym. ugh. and i have been overscheduled too. out every night of the week. that's gonna change soon. and i will say NO more often.

thank you for your support. have a lovely day, one and all.

Hi, Lori !

I know things can be really be overwhelming and stressful, but the best thing you can do for your body right now is to try to eat right. stress will break down our bodies. Eating healthy foods can help you feel better. Here's what I've learned from my own years of yo yo dieting,"If you eat crap, you'll feel like crap". Too many studies have shown that eating junk does effect our moods. Thus the need to try to eat right as best you can.

I'm a firm believer that stress is a neglected aspect of weight gain. If a person could reduce their stress, they'd automatically reduce their waistline.

Whenever you feel stressed out, try taking a walk. walking is not only great cardiovascular exercise, it's a great way to reduce stress too.

Kiwi has very good advice. I would suggest trying to force yourself to exercise as well,in the hopes that some of those feel good chemicals come out to help, but I understand how hard that can be. I struggled with my weight a long time and dealt with depression until I got on medication that helped me want to "live" again. Maybe try some music therapy too...when I get down (which I still do sometimes), I put on some upbeat music and just dance or sing to it, then I feel better being silly. I hope and pray that everything turns out okay for you! emoticon

I am sorry to hear that you are having so many difficulties. Sometimes things really get on top of us, and we need to take time out to have a bit of a breather. Unfortunately, even tho' I understand the eating poorly when we are like this, it is counter-productive to our emotional health because we NEED the good nutrition from healthy food to help us recover. Our physical health needs this as well.

Are we able to help with your difficulties at all? Perhaps be a sounding board, so to speak? If not, then I hope that you have someone you can talk with - perhaps your Dr would be a good starting point. If need be, he/she can refer you to a Therapist to help you, or any other health professional as he/she sees fit.

I'm sending BIG hugs your way - no that there are people who care - WE care!!
