Good for you that cleaning your windows is on your radar. We've lived in the same apartment for 8 months so far, and haven't cleaned the windows yet.

My mother had shoulder problems, and she got exercises from a physical therapist that really helped her. Now she's able to lift weights without many limits. There are so many exercises that don't use arms, at least.

One of my friends has bad knees.

She found real relief with an elyptical machine. It built up the muscles around her knees, allowing more movement.

Thank you all! I promise I won't give up. I have a commitment to myself to be healthy and I have a challenge I must finish!
Today the shoulder is better but really sore...still taking my medicine.

I know having a newly diagnosed bursitis must seem like it is time to give up! Don't you dare! Look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself you are worth more than giving up! I have lesions on my myelin surrounding the brain stem that causes, muscle twitches, severe pain and other not fun problems. On top of that I have degenerative disc disease in several vertebrae. This causes my spinal nerves to be pinched from time to time.

I always find something I can do until I feel a little better. Find your thing and go with it. Some exercise is better than none. Good luck to you and may you heal quickly!

Umm,,SP Nancy, no one should suggest anyone take a drug, and in the future, please read posts carefully before making a comment. If someone says; "I" took, or "I" did this or that, it is in no way giving another advise. The only advise I shared with the OP for example is to rest and ice which is the way it should be. Anything else should be limited to sharing experiences. Thanks for all you do in the way of giving advise across the forums.

Sorry to read about your pain, but glad you've taken the steps to have it diagnosed and treated. Hopefully the injection (I presume cortisone...) will do its job quickly , and you will be back to posting your Walk to Rivendell miles next week! Take Care emoticon patti

Thanks to all of you for your good intentions. I actually went to the doctor and diagnosed it. He also told me to rest and no rough exercises. I can walk but not very fast because it hurts only by any movement. He gave me a "wonderful" injection and some pills. Let's see how the week goes and I will begin to re-incorporate some, much needed, exercise back into my life.
Thanks again, needed the support. For a moment I felt lost...

Hi,

I am so sorry to hear of your pain. Just know that it is outside the scope of anyone (member or expert) to recommend anything other than rest and ice. While taking NSAIDs work for some, they carry a lot of risks, which is why we cannot recommend any member to take them. This is something you may want to talk with your doctor about. You may want to see about getting a referral to a physical therapist to see if they can develop an exercise program from you.

Take care and I hope you feel better soon.

Coach Nancy

MARITZA_TIRADO,

Bursitis is no fun. Even though you might not be able to do any upper body work because of your shoulder, how about taking a walk ? Don't swing your arms too vigorously. Walking is wonderful cardiovascular exercise. There are members who will tell you how they lost 100+ pounds just by walking and watching what they ate.

Once the inflammation goes down, you can slowly ease back into your regular routine. for now, why not take a walk ?

Hope you feel better soon.

Bummer..welcome to the club no one wants to join! Ice and no cleaning windows are two very good things for the problem. How sad that someone else has to wash windows...that always breaks my heart!

I've lived with a bum shoulder since I was 16. Eventually I had to quit playing softball all together but not for many years. Used a truck load of ice and NSAIDs though. Rest it and ice it and let it heal. Then keep the surrounding muscles strong to help prevent flares. It works for the most part. You will always need to ice it here and there but it's okay...anything to get out of windows emoticon Feel better soon!

It is a very painful inflammation on the right shoulder. Probably it will be a week before I can do any exercise... I have been religiously doing exercise every week!!! I am feeling a little disappointed. I guess I will just keep track of what I eat for the moment... emoticon
