I have a binging problem myself, and I wanted to write to tell you that you're definitely not alone. What seems to help me to stop in the middle of a binge is to drink so much water that I can't even handle another bite of food. It seems to do the trick everytime for me... I hope it works for you. Keep your chin up though, no matter what!

Don't let a temporary setback, derail you. Start again. It gets easier once you get into a routine. Purge your kitchen of fattening food if you can. Get healthy snacks. It took me several
restarts to really get into healthy eating habits. After several weeks it gets easier, especially if you see success.

I still struggle if I got to a party or a get together where there is a lot of food. I have to be careful not to get carried away and overeat.

Just here to let you know that you're not alone. I have been going for about 3 days at a time where I do really well, then I binge, and then I get mad at myself, and then the cycle starts again. I've been keeping up with my exercise, so if anything, I'm just maintaining my weight. I am feeling that "I just want to eat everything in sight" kind of mood, but that's probably a combination of some huge final projects that are due Wednesday and TOM coming up soon. I haven't gone overboard yet, but I will check out those articles that the other posted linked and I will try not to.

First and foremost, Jana, congratulations on the weight you've lost so far! That is WONDERFUL!!

How would it be to make a list of five things you love to do that don't involve food? Eat a normal, healthy dinner tonight, one you'd eat as a regular part of your weight-loss plan, and then choose the most appealing item or activity on that list you made earlier? I promise you that it will divert you from eating for the evening, and by tomorrow morning, you'll be back on track - without punishing yourself or otherwise mistreating yourself for the binge.

We all have those "ooops" days now and then! It's part of being human, and the thing to do is to move on and get back on track as soon as you can. But be kind to yourself in the process!

Hi, Jill !

I hope you're feeling better this morning. One overindulgent meal or even a day of less than perfect will NOT make or break your healthy lifestyle.

No beatings. No guilt. You ate the food. You log the food. You move on. Today, you do your best to eat more mindfully. You don't starve yourself and you don't kill yourself in the gym. Both imply that you did something wrong and deserve to be punished. You didn't do anything wrong. You just ate a little too much. it happens. As long as it doesn't happen every day, everything really will be fine.

If you want to become a healthier person, one thing you have to learn is how to be kind to yourself.

I would also encourage you to read INDYGIRLs blogs. She's one of the most motivating members on Spark.

Ohhh man... :( I just had a baaaad binge again... I hate when that happens, but somehow I just feel suuuuper unmotivated right now...
Does anybody have a tip/trick that can motivate me to stop eating at least for tonight?? Because somehow I'm like in a "I eat everything that I want right now" mood, but I already consumed more calories than I'm supposed to...aaaand I didn't work out today^^

I guess that's a real "ooops" day. -.-
