Heidi - that's perfect!!! Whatever works for you, to make YOU feel comfy during your flare. Make sure to restock it when you're feeling better, and keep it easily accessible. So glad you like the idea! emoticon

I LOVE that idea!!!

maybe special jammies (warm snuggly comfy sized), a homemade trail mix with a few dark chocolates, granola, and walnuts and almonds to get that sweet, salty, and carb mix I tend to crave.

GREAT IDEA!!!

Blessings,
Heidi

Ugh, I know just what you mean. I've been feeling like poo lately with my lupus acting up. Seems I always crave comfort foods, too, which for me means carbs, carbs, carbs, and fried foods!

However, a while back, I created a 'flare kit'. I included healthy, 'comfort' foods (jerky and cheese, canned fruits that I really enjoy, soups that feel indulgent, some of my favorite tea, etc.) and a good book or magazine for if I feel up to it, some cozy special socks, etc. It may not all be 100% what I would normally eat, but it's close enough on both sides that I feel good about eating it, and it gives me that comfort feeling I'm looking for.

I hope you're feeling more yourself soon. emoticon

How about a bowl of soup ? there's nothing like a nice bowl of chicken noodle soup to soothe some achy joints and a sore throat. How about a cup of tea with some honey ? The Daily Spark had a great article on making fruit juices. Perhaps some fruit juice will help ease your discomfort.

Hi Heidi,

So many of my friends who have fibro seem to be experiencing symptoms this week. I hope you feel better soon. Just remember that comfort foods are just a temporary relief.

Take care!

I don't know what kind of dietary restrictions you may have-- but what I'd suggest is to pick some of your favorite things from the list of stuff you DO eat, and eat those. There are actually some pretty healthy things that I really really like. So when I'm feeling puny, I make sure my choices for the day include those. For example, usually I eat an apple for snack. But I really really like canned peaches (canned in juice not sugar syrup). So I keep a couple cans of peaches on hand, for a "puny" day.

Help! I'm having a fibromyalgia flare-up today (extra pain, brain fogginess, gut upset, extreme fatigue---flu-like symptoms) and I'm wanting comfort foods!!!!
