You only use control if you allow it. I know - it sounds easy - and yes, I don't even know you. I am only giving advice I would give myself.
So - what do I mean? You can't run - I know it is hard. However, I am sure if you try - you might be able to find other activities - Pilates, Yoga, and other type of exercise that perhaps you can do without making yourself out of breath - and you can keep it off until you can get back to running.
Too many times we use what we can not do - as excuses - however, use these times to motivate yourself to find what you can do. Who knows - you may even find something else you like as much as running!
