Been there, done that. They were right. I was wrong.

When I added more food, I felt better and more energetic. My workouts improved. My weight went down. I was happier.

It seems counter-intuitive but it isn't.

Just trust it for a few weeks to see. Once you do, you will be happier and you will keep loosing weight.

Good Luck

Hi 64CHEVYGIRL (I used to have a 65 Chevy Impala) - undoubtedly you have heard the expressions

"Patience is a virtue" .......
and .......
"Rome wasn't built in a day!"

This applies to our healthy lifestyle journey, too!

If your Tracker is telling you to eat more, then you need to eat more! Cutting out too much really can hinder your weight-loss and also set you up for other health issues further down the track.

Just make sure that changes are made using baby steps because this is the best way to learn the healthy habits, and have them stick. Sudden changes may see results but in time may also cause you to fall off the wagon. This applies to nutrition and exercise.

Good luck, but I am sure that if you follow the advice that your tracker is giving you, you won't need that 'luck' - you will be succeeding :-)

64CHEVYGIRL,

Coach Nancy is right. Women are notorious for drastically cutting their calories in an effort to speed up their weight loss. This is not healthy. eating too little and exercising too much can hinder a person's weight loss, not help it. I know this is going to sound strange, but a person has to eat to lose weight.

Weight loss is nothing more than a byproduct of a healthy lifestyle. If you're eating right, the weight will come off on its own.

Here's a catch 22, increasing the amount of exercise you do in hopes of losing weight faster will cause you to eat more. As Nancy noted, doing more exercise can increase a person's appetite as a result of the increased need for calories.

Weight loss is definitely not an exact science. But, I will say that if you are going to increase the amount of exercise you do, you're going to need to eat a bit more. How much more depends on the amount of exercise you do and how busy your day is. Like I said, doing more exercise will not speed up a person's loss.

What to do ? Try to eat more healthfully in general. Try to eat more servings of fresh fruit and veggies. try to drink more water. try to avoid highly processed foods. try to eat more wholesome foods that nourish your body.

You don't have to deprive yourself to be healthy, but you do have to be mindful of your portions. Mostly, be patient. this is a learning process and we all had a lot to learn.

Thanks, Nancy. I'll try to not freak out about it and just do what it says. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised!

Hi 64CHEVYGIRL,

Remember weight loss is not an exact science so try not to get too precise with accuracy. That being said, not eating enough based on your activity may actually slow your weight loss, but more importantly slow your repair and recovery process. Food is fuel for your body, much like gas is to your car. If you do not fuel your body properly over time you may slow your progress. Just remember though that all changes take time--for some people a solid 6 weeks is needed to see the changes.

Take care!

Coach Nancy

Help! It says because of the calories I'm (according to them) burning to eat more calories. I'm wondering if I'm really burning what it says and if I eat what they tell me to that I'll gain, not lose weight! Thoughts/advice please.
