My favorite way to "defeat" a trigger food is to totally, completely obliterate it. Cake is a big trigger for me to binge, too. I understand how you feel!
I suggest you destroy the cake. Don't just throw it out - beat it up! Take back your power. Put that cake in a big garbage sack and smash it. Toss mustard and ketchup and other gross non-cakey condiments in there and smash it again. Say, "Cake! You're not the boss of me!" or some other such thing. That cake is NOT more powerful than you. Go teach it a lesson!
