When the mindless eating rears its ugly head...WHAT are you eating? If you can make yourself switch from something like chips to baby carrots (heck, with a little lite ranch dressing, even!) or some lower calorie snack, that would be a step in the right direction.
Another trick, BEFORE you consume anything as you reach for that snack, force yourself to drink and entire glass of water first.
I'm closer to my goal today than I was yesterday!
