Breakfast is such an important meal. I would venture to say it is the most important meal of the day. Studies have shown that people who are overweight generally skip breakfast for one reason or another and that people who do eat breakfast have a higher success rate in losing weight.
I do know where you are coming from because I used to be the same. I thought I wasn't hungry and only wanted a coffee first thing in the morning. I did start "forcing" myself to eat. I started out small with just Multigrain Cheerios and blueberries. Much to my own surprise, I managed to finish every bite and I had never realized that my body was in starvation mode first thing in the morning because it knew it wouldn't be fed until later. I was actually hurting my weight loss. Once I starting eating breakfast, I started feeling hungry in the morning. It was like my body realized that I wouldn't starve it anymore. I also started feeling less tired because I had fueled my body and now had more energy to start my day.
It really only makes sense. If we are hungry before we eat supper and usually that's a five-ish hour break between food, then wouldn't we expect to be hungry when we get up? If we stop eating around 8pm, and get up around 6:30am, that's 10 1/2 hours in between meals!
I guarantee you that if you start eating breakfast, not only will you get better results, but like me, you will start needing breakfast. Your body won't be in starvation mode any more and will start to function normally. You might actually decide you like it. Don't think of it as "forcing" yourself to eat, think of it as necessary fuel for the day.
