Like many others, I struggle with mindless eating. I know that keeping a food journal or at least keeping track of what you eat throughout the day is one of the best ways to overcome that horrible habit. However, I am having a lot of trouble with counting calories! I do not know how to determine how many calories are in items that are not in the food directory. For example, I made a potato soup from an old recipe, one that didn't have portion sizes or calories. I tried to estimate how many calories were in it, but I realized I have no idea how to figure that out! I don't want to guess too high and not take in enough calories for the day, but I don't want to low ball the amount and eat more than I should. Does anyone have any tips?
