Do you own an umbrella? even if you don't..it's just water..no harm in going outside unless it's a hurricane.

There's tons of things you can do, depending on your fitness level. You could go old school and do things like jumping jacks (tons of variations in arm and feet placement to shake things up), jump rope, burpees (also many variations), speed squats and kickboxing. If you need to break out of a rut, just crank up your favorite tunes and dance like nobody's watching.

If you are more advanced, plyometrics are great for burning calories and busting through plateaus. Or, you could go to your local library and check out their exercise video collection. There's usually so many to select from.

I just go out in the rain anyway. No umbrella or hat, since I'm going to get soaked anyway. I'll usually see one or two others who do the same. It's kind of fun and reminds you of being a kid again.
The only caveat: avoid leaf piles as it's easy to slip and fall.
And there was that unfortunate (but probably hilarious) earthworm incident...somehow, one wound up on my bare leg and I freaked trying to get it off.

Lissa,

Walking in place is a great way to get in some cardio. And if you have access to stairs that would be another great option. As far as resistance training...body weight exercises such as wall squats, wall-push ups, planks, etc are a great alternative. You may want to visit SparkPeople's Fitness Resource center (under the Health Lifestyle Drop down menu) for some other great options!

HAPPY SPARK NEW YEAR!

I know this has already been asked several times but I can't seem to find it. My question is about exercising on rainy days. It's pouring here but I'm really itching to get some exercise in, preferably cardio. I don't have any workout equipment except for a pilates ball and I don't have a gym membership currently. I'm all for using the pilates ball but I don't know how. What can I do for exercise when it's raining outside?
