I have a dinner tomorrow night and Olive Garden will be served. Perusing the menu, it looks like Steak Tuscano is my choice. One of the lowest calorie foods on the menu!

You can use this card at Red Lobster as well (or Season's 57 or Longhorn Steakhouse). I eat at Red Lobster often and they have some good choices if you like fish or shellfish.

I turned the apricot chicken into peach chicken at the Olive Garden and it was delicious, but only ate half.

I adore the Apricot Chicken. I always get the lunch portion. I also like their minestrone soup. As one poster said, it is high in sodium, but it isn't really a concern for me.

"because LOVE to cook know how to cook italian food and my family says its way better then Olive Garden." Then don't do Italian... Darden has other choices!

Place an order TO GO. Bring it home and divide it up into two meals if you have to. Their Minestrone soup is good and only 100 calories Venetian apricot chicken is 400 calories - eat half and save half for another meal Get their salad but use your own fat free/low cal dressing

I won't eat at Olive Garden because there are no healthy choices. The minestrone soup suggested by a previous poster has 1020 mg sodium for one serving. The food doesn't taste good enough for a special treat. You might consider the gift certificate as any other gift you don't like and can't return. Many people like Olive Garden. Give it to someone as a gift. Go to Olive Garden’s parking lot and give it to someone walking into the restaurant. Drop it in a Goodwill or Salvation Army box. Someone will appreciate it. .

Barbie,
Get the minestrone soup ! Soups are low cal and very yummy. Just watch the cream based ones. those are the ones that are loaded with extra calories.
I also recommend the pasta di mari i.e. seafood pasta. That's got a fairly reasonable calorie count.
As long as you are mindful of the portion size, you really could have whatever you wanted. Eat half there and take half home to enjoy the next day for lunch. Most restaurants typically have portions that could feed 2-3 people. So, if you're given a huge plate, eat half and take half home. No one says you have to clean your plate.
Enjoy your meal ! Try not to fret about the calories. If you do eat a bit more than you want, that doesn't make you a bad person or a unhealthy one. You just do your best to eat more mindfully the next that, that's all.

Hi BARBIE66, I get the whole wheat pasta with marinara sauce and have them add grilled chicken. The calories aren't bad, however, I am not too sure about the sodium content. Coach Nancy

If you really don't like what you see at Olive Garden, please know that the gift card can be used at any Darden restaurant. Maybe you will find something more appealing there...
