JCARPENTIER1,

Even though you've been a member of Spark before, I'm going to give you one piece of advice I give to all new members and it's this,"Don't look at good health or weight loss with an all or nothing mentality". If the only healthy thing you did for yourself today was drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction.

Good health isn't all or nothing. Good health starts with some simple changes you CAN stick with. Example, if you're not eating 6-9 servings of fresh fruit and veggies each day, set a goal to eat 2-3 servings each day for one week. If you're not drinking your water, set a goal to drink 2-4 glasses each day for one week. if you're not exercising, set a goal to take a 30 minute walk each day for one week. Once you've achieved these goals, then you set new ones.

Spark People has never been about "dieting". It's about making simple changes that turn into life time healthy habits. That's why you can't beat yourself up because you're not perfect. You don't have to be perfect to be healthy.

Hi JCARPENTIER1,

Whenever we elect to lose weight for someone other than ourselves our motivation can be short-lived, but when we elect to make this journey a part of who we are, the health benefits will last for much longer. I wish you well!

So, I haven't been following the spark diet at all for months and months. Now it is almost the new year, and I find myself wanting to get back on the wagon. I originally wanted to lose weight for my daughter, she is almost 3, but now I think its more for me. I think that is the key. I HAD to want to do it for me. Not anyone else. I just need some moral support saying I can do this. Thanks for reading.
