I can suggest an easy way to remove this obsession ....... think of it as it REALLY is!! NOT a Diet - it is merely a healthy lifestyle!!
With a lot of people the first thing they do is to remove all 'forbidden' foods, but the thing is, nothing is actually forbidden - it is about a healthy balance. For it to be sustainable - i.e. for the rest of our lives - we need to fit our likes and dislikes into the equation, but use common sense.
The other thing that people often do is to decide they are going to lose weight, and make a heap of changes all at once. This is NOT advisable. It is best to take the baby steps approach, which means changing only one or two things to start with, and only when your mind/body has gotten used to those changes, add something else to the mix. It might be something as simple as reducing your soda/juice as you increase water consumption, and walking a little further in your day. That can be achieved by taking a short 'purpose' walk, or taking the stairs instead of a lift, or parking your car a wee bit further afield and walking that extra. It all soon mounts up!
Another thing that is advisable, is that you keep in touch on the message boards and read the various articles on Nutrition and Exercise int eh Healthy Lifestyle section. You will find lots in there that will help you with your journey1
