I have a Spark friend who says all the time, "Success is not quitting". Every day I get up and have a go at this healthy lifestyle-- some days I do better than other days. But giving up is not an option.

Sure, sometimes I skip the exercise. But I drink my water and eat lots of vegetables. Or maybe I eat too much. But I did the exercise and drank the water and got enough sleep. And sometimes I'm clicking on all cylinders and it feels fabulous! The point is, that it isn't an "all or nothing" thing.

Go YOU for the loss!!

I agree - it is definitely NOT an all or nothing mentality. This is one area in our life that it pays to be stubborn about, and continue on that road to a healthy lifestyle, and staying there. I always believe that even if we don't lose the weight we thought we would or would like to, just by watching our portions, eating a healthy, balanced diet within a healthy calorie range, getting the exercise and hydrating well, we are succeeding. We are doing the best for our bodies and our bodies will ultimately thank us for it!

You have done fantastically well losing the 65lb :-) keep up the good work!

MLUCIER2,

One thing I tell new members as well as to our regulars is this,"don't look at good health or weight loss with an all or nothing mentality". If the only healthy thing you did for yourself today was drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction.

You've made great process losing that 65 pounds !! As the old song goes,"accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative". Give yourself credit for the POSITIVE things you do for yourself and don't beat yourself up because you're not perfect. You don't have to be perfect to be healthy. The fact is, a donut, cookie, cupcake, soda, etc... CAN all be a part of a healthy life style as long as you are mindful of the portion.

Spark People isn't about deprivation. It's all about moderation and portion control. So, don't beat yourself up if you don't eat right every single day or maybe you go over your calories once in a while. it happens. Be patient with yourself and your body.

i have tried unsuccessfully in the last year to lose weight. when i did lose like ten lbs i would treat myself and get off track and than i would say what is the point. i just gained that weight back . I AM PUSHING MYSELF NOT TO GIVE UP ITS NOT WORTH GIVING UP ON YOURSELF. PUSH THROUGH ALL OF YOUR INSECURITIES AND TELL YOURSELF THIS IS FOR ME. I WANT THIS FOR ME. KEEP ON TRYING AND YOU WILL SUCCEED. I KNOW YOU WILL. I TRIED FOR MANY YEARS TO LOSE WEIGHT AND BAMMM ONE YEAR I FINALLY LOST 65 LBS. i cant stress it enough do not give up.. i am still down about 60 lbs but i am having a hard time. i have given up like five times in the last year when i stopped losing weight. giving up is not an option anymore. push through !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
