I like Liliputianna's idea. Get the kids to help, and you'll be making memories as well as cookies. And you have the opportunity to make healthier changes when making the cookies so they won't be so bad!
Another one: You need to get out of the mindset that you're somehow depriving your kids if they don't get cookies. You know something? They don't NEED cookies to be happy! Get that idea right out of your head. Contrary to popular belief, we don't need junk food!
You want to make their day? Make fruit juice popsicles. You should have seen my girls' faces when they got to eat their own, homemade popsicles.
Cookies? Who needs 'em!
The kids can have cookies when they go to other people's houses. They don't need it at yours. :)
