ACCEBERCUTIE-
you're not alone for sure but seeing it, recognizing it and doing something about it are all good things and you have made that start!

Take it one step at a time...step away from the temptations and situations that trigger the eating if you can.

ACCEBERCUTIE,

You're not alone. Most of us here on Spark have turned to food to assuage our emotions or troubles. But, it doesn't have to be like this. You can make a change. Instead of eating your way into depression, how about eating your way to good health ?

We can't change the past, but we can influence and change the future. If you read my spark page, you'll learn that twice in my life I weighed over 200+ pounds. A few years ago, I made a decision that wasn't going to happen a third time. I decided to move forward instead of back.

I know this all seems daunting, but you can make changes. You can lose weight and be healthy. Do you need inspiration ? Look no further than member INDYGIRL. at her highest weight, she weighed over 460+ pounds. In two years, she's lost over 200 pounds. Many other members have lost weight and regained their health. You can too.

You just start with some simple changes. Don't try to do everything at once or you will end up frustrated. Set some simple goals to start. Example, if you're not used to eating 6-9 servings of fresh fruit and veggies, set a goal to eat 2-3 servings each day for one week. If you're not used to drinking 8 glasses of water, set a goal to drink 2-4 glasses each day for one week. if you're not used to regular exercise, set a goal to take a 30 minute walk each day for one week. once you've achieved those goals, then you set new ones.

And that's how good health starts. It starts by eating a couple extra servings of veggies, drinking your water and taking a daily walk.

read more about INDYGIRL, you really will be inspired.

I think this happens to a lot of us. We feel bad about ourselves. So, we eat more, and more of the wrong things, which makes us put on weight. This in turn causes us to feel worse about ourselves. This makes us try to find comfort in food....

Ugh.

I collect positive quotations. Here's one from the famous 20th century philosopher, Groucho Marx. "Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasnt' arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it."

This is your moment to break the cycle. Do something positive for yourself. Sometimes, just one tiny thing can make you feel more in control. Drink an 8 oz glass of water, or a cup of green tea. Take a walk even if it is just to the mailbox, or go up and down a flight of stairs. Eat something really healthy like strawberries or carrots. Then celebrate it. Allow yourself to feel good about it.

Best of luck.

"There's treasure everywhere." Hobbes, in Calvin and Hobbes

You're in the right place here on SparkPeople to get help. I see by your posts that you are new. Make sure you complete your Getting Started Guide. You can find it in the box on the right side of your page in the section called Quick Links.

Also if you look up on the orange bar you will see a Community tab. Go there and read some of the success stories. That always motivated me. Also while you are on that tab, find some teams that interest you and get connected. Working with others will help you.

Wish you the best!
