I gained weight when I moved in with my boyfriend (now husband). He has terrible eating habits, and it rubs off on me! Plus we just have a harder time dragging ourselves to the gym when we're together than I do when it is just me. We're working on getting healthy together though, because we have both decided that we feel awful when we eat so badly and don't work out. t has taken us about 2 years of living together to come to that conclusion though... Good luck!

Yes, my BF eats whatever he wants and does not have to watch his weight. SO frustrating!

This one I'm all too familiar with...

My hubby cooks well and has no weight issue and loves to bring "treats" into the house. This past month, in particular, has been a bit more challenging, I guess, because it's autumn and there's lots of festivities.

Every day makes me stronger, and this is an area where we all, I'm sure, need to remind ourselves that we are CHOOSING to get healthy and that NO ONE can deter us from that goal unless we allow them to.

So just get refocussed and have an answer or a plan of action ready for the next time this comes up and just move forward in this wonderful journey where you get to become who you were always meant to be! emoticon

The funny thing about my boyfriend and I is that after living together for a little over a year he has dropped about 25-30 lbs. We did most of our own cooking and that's all it took for him to drop that weight. Me, however, I've only lost 14 lbs. I find it is much harder to eat right when you're dating or living with someone. Tonight, I wanted a big ol' salad, but the lazy factor kicked in (neither of us wanted to go to the store), and he went through the drive through at Little Caesars Pizza.
And, when we cook dinner, we split what we cooked, so we each get half of everything. I know I should give him more, but it's so delicious that I want my half lol.

I have the same problem! We actually both blame our recent weight gain on each other! sad! My bigger problem when I am with him is the alcohol I consume. I didn't realize how many calories alcohol really had!

It takes a while to feel comfortable not eating with someone, especially if your dates often had a food element. I had to enlist my husband before it got easier to snack around him.

He used to stock up on snacks that we both like. But once he got onboard with my eating better, he started choosing things I didn't like as much, so I'd be less tempted. He also quit offering me snacks. At first, instead of explicitly asking if I wanted something, he's just mention he was having something. After about a year, he just quit saying anything at all (he figures if I really want a snack, I'll get it myself).

Good luck. Be sure to keep logging what you eat around him. That at least keeps you honest.

Chef Meg's Cheesy Grilled Banana Peppers
Submitted By: CHEF_MEG

Cheese. Bacon. Tomatoes. Yum!
Chef Meg finds a slightly more sophisticated version of the hot pepper poppers found on appetizer menus everywhere. Her version uses mild banana peppers, creamy Gouda cheese, a bit of bacon for a smoky richness, and tomatoes to offer a bit of freshness. She grills them to add another layer of flavor to the dish.

Serve these as an appetizer or unexpected side dish at your next barbecue!

Chef Meg uses panko, or Japanese breadcrumbs in this recipe. You can substitute whatever breadcrumbs you have on hand. Full Recipe
