Take gum with you. You'll be less tempted to eat pie if you're already chewing a mint fresh piece of gum. Be strong!

Thank you all so much for your words and thoughts. Proud to report back: the event went more than perfectly and what I feared (not really eating pie at the event but more of me being so stressed I would lose it) DID NOT happen. I survived the day, the event, and a surprise stressful dinner with the in laws, too.

I can do it!

I will pray for you to be strong.

I completely agree with Newlibrarian....living this lifestyle isn't about denying...its about eating smart and fitting your favorite foods into your life! See where you can eat on the lower end of your calorie range for most of the day so you've "saved up" the calories for a piece of pie! After you have it, drink a few glasses of water :)

Go in with a plan. Do you need a piece of pie, can you afford a piece of pie on your plan? Is the issue not stopping at one or not eating at all?
If you can afford a piece make it small and than move far away from the rest. If you can't opt for the healthy snack before hand.
You can do it. Good luck

You can do this. Just eat a healthy snack before hand, for example a small low-fat yogurt or 10 almonds, so you don't walk in hungry. You can bring another healthy snack with you, and drink plenty of water. The point about gatherings should be the people and conversation anyway, not the food, so focus on interacting with others rather than what you put in your mouth. It gets easier with time when you see what eating the right foods does for your mood, your energy level, and your body. Then that piece of pie starts to look really sinister rather than yummy.

YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

Grilled Cheese Pizza Sandwich
Submitted By: PUNKGIRL213

I got bored and decided to try something new....a completely random idea made an awesome lunch! Instead of the boring old grilled cheese sandwich try a "Grilled Cheese Pizza Sandwich"! It tastes just like cheese pizza with less fat and without all the grease and calories! Plus you get about 25% of your calcium in one meal.....could it get any better? Pair this with a salad and you'd have a great pizzaria style lunch without the calories attached... or the bill :) Full Recipe
