One thing to point out is that the listing in the tracker can only guess at the portion size. While Pad Thai isn't the lightest dish out there (there's usually quite a lot of oil in it), 1600 calories is still a fairly substantial portion of it. It may be that you ate less than you think.

There's a series of articles on healthier and less healthy choices at various ethnic restaurants here:

(Note that Pad Thai is Thai and not Chinese, although of course some restaurants are diverse :)

I've lost about 35lbs and gone from slightly over "obese" by BMI to just into "healthy"!

And I can now run for over 5k!

Just try to eat healthy today. Stay in your nutritional ranges. Next time you go out to eat, plan ahead and check the nutritional information. Also watch out for portion sizes. Here they give about 4 portions or more in one entree of Pad Thai.

Good luck. Don't worry about it.

Just stay on track today, that's all I would do.

In the past I would try "not eating", or eating the minimum. Then at night I would be SO HUNGRY I'd completely fall off track. My mindset would be "Oh I messed up yesterday, what's one more day." And then one more day would turn into 5 or 10 or 365...

Just learn from it and take it from here! You can do it.

Progress - Inch by inch life's a cinch. Yard by yard, life is hard

Babe,

Eat as you normally would eat...use yesterday as a learning experience. This is how we learn to embrace making healthy choices.

I wish you well!

After a day of work yesterday I decided that I would treat my family and order chinese. I have been really good lately. I decided that I would not order my usual sweet and sour chicken dreading the extra calories, so I opted for Pad Thai thinking it may be better. Well to my surprise while entering in what foods I had yesterday into Spark People I found out that Pad Thai was 1600 calories. What a shock!! I knew it would be bad but not that bad. That's great now what do I do not eat today to compensate?

Mediterranean Chicken with Orzo (Chef Meg's Makeover)
Submitted By: CHEF_MEG

This healthful Mediterranean dish got a makeover from Chef Meg. She lowered the salt content and added parsley and capers for freshness and flavor. She also reduced the cooking time to keep the orzo from getting too soft and used plum tomatoes instead of canned tomatoes to keep the dish from getting too thin. Try serving this with steamed broccolini. Full Recipe
