Please do not give up, and please do talk to your doctor about even a one-time referral to a physical therapist or similar professional. My father had one back surgery more than a decade ago and gave up on exercise due to the discomfort...and that only led to more pain and discomfort along with a gain of 150 pounds and two more back surgeries. Unless you were given a permanent and total disability rating, the pain you're still experiencing may be the result of something that still needs medical address.

While I do not have first-hand knowledge of what you're going through, I've watched a love one go through it, and my heart goes out to you! Please, though...please praise yourself for the hard work you've already put in (you lost 53 pounds! Celebrate, honey!) and use whatever resources you have to get an exercise program pieced together that takes your unique needs into account.

Do you have easy access to a pool? Do water-based exercises hurt?

Starting: 41.1 BMI and extremely sedentary
Current: 28.0 BMI with strength-training and low-impact cardio
Mini-goal: 29.9 BMI (about 164 lb) - DONE on 8/6/14! I'm no longer obese!
Mini-goal: 5K walk or run
Mini-goal: 24.9 BMI (about 136 lb)
Mini-goal: half-marathon walk or run
GOAL: 23 BMI (about 125 pounds), fit and active

I would really try to do what exercise you can. Can your doctor recommend exercises that would be appropriate for your disability limitation? Or possibly refer you to an exercise therapist who can? I work with a number of physical therapists at my hospital and they're more than happy to help people with exercises appropriate to their physical issues. If you cut calories and don't exercise, it really, really makes it hard to lose any more weight.

I see on your spark page you're determined to ride your exercise bicycle "no matter how much I hate it." That's really not a good idea. Is there something else you can do that you don't hate? Doing something you hate sets you up for failure.

Definitely increase your water intake. And keep watching those calories. I have to track everything I put in my mouth. Those little bites here and there start to add up! :-) But if you're consistently eating less calories, then eventually, the weight will come off. You've done such a great job so far!

SparkPeople has some videos and articles on chair exercises. Have you researched any of those?

Thank you for your reply I can use all the help I can get. I probably should drink a lot more water than I do. the walking I do only for about 5 minutes because I had back surgery 2 years ago that left my right side from my waist to my toes numb. when I start walking it starts burning so I do it till I can't take it.

Maybe you can walk for longer periods of time? Do you drink plenty of water? Get enough sleep? Are you stressed?

I have lost 50 pounds in the past 3 years. I started at 233 and lost 50, I keep gaining and losing 20 of those pounds. I want to lose another 40 to bring me to 140 which is right for my height and frame. For the last month I have been stuck on 180! I don't understand why because I am taking in the right amount of calories and doing my walking. there is not a lot of exerise that I can do because of my disabilites. I have already tried several things I have read, like cutting less calories and changing my diet everything but the scale wont budge! I just feel like giving up which I have done many times in the past!
