Stress eating is really easy to do and a really hard habit to break!
Does meditation or yoga help? For me, just putting in my headphones and taking a long walk does wonders. Instead of sticking a bunch of cookies in my mouth, I might eat some baby carrots - same crunch but fewer calories! Find some ways to deal with the stress that don't involve eating.
Go back to the gym and just start again. "Fall down seven times, get up eight!"
