Revelation of what I've tried all my adult life to put into words regarding my weight. Praise Jesus! (28 May 2012):

Unfortunately my motivation is shallow, I'm just so sick of being fat n want my maxi dress n togs to look a bit better on for summer (from NZ so it's just coming up). Oh n yea just a wee bit competitive, my friend has lost 10kg n I'm going to catch up mwahaha

I have a lot of knee pain and sometimes they just don't work. My favorite exercise had always been walking. I still try. Stairs are a real challenge. I try to do a few steps up and down the deck steps every day.

stairs. i don't like walking up them. i huff and puff like i have just run a marathon. so, i want to lose weight, or at least become healthier, so that i can walk up stairs and NOT sound like i have just run a marathon.

My motivation comes from wanting to be and stay healthy and strong for my husband, 3 sons and daughter in law and soon for my new little grand son. How very blessed I am to have these wonderful people in my life. I owe it to them to be here and not be a burden to them. Exercise and eating cleanly (no processed foods) helps me have energy for my demanding career, life, etc.

Been at this since mid-July and while I've noticed a few changes in clothes, today I could see in the mirror a bit of an hourglass shape! AHA! I knew it would happen if I stuck to it! Not there yet, but am on my way.

I got motivated when I realized that I was not that far away from the age my father was when he died from a stroke that was probably a result of his weight related diabetes. I remember how much it hurt that he was gone so young (age 65). I decided I did not want my children to have to deal with that kind of pain so young, so I made up my mind to change. So far I've lost 75 + lbs and have about 35 lbs. to go. My health is better, I feel better and I really enjoy the compliments I get from people. That's my motivation, and I don't see going back emoticon

I don't like seeing myself in pictures/videos. I don't like that my friends have to walk slow because I can't keep up with their normal pace. I wanted to go zip lining for my birthday and found out I was too heavy. My bosses (who own a small business) told me they couldn't get cheaper insurance because of my weight. They were nice about it, but it still hurt to hear. My mom couldn't walk for the last few years of her life (always "heavy").
But the reason I think it'll work this time is that I've grown to like myself over the past year. I've gained some confidence. This time, I'm doing it for me. That's what motivates me.

One step at a time.

I had to buy larger shorts/ jeans 4 months ago and they are still snug. My motivation is to drop 2 sizes and be able to breath when I sit down in those new clothes! Since I started SP last week and am using the treadmill daily, I have more energy and I want to keep it that way.

My motivation is getting off my blood pressure medications. I let 40 pounds creep onto my frame during an unhappy time in my life. Things have turned around now and I want to take off the weight to get off the medications. I would also like to regain something similar to my old body and my old confidence. It doesn't hurt that people are looking at me and saying "Oh my God you look good!"...It does make me wonder if I looked bad before but I'm chosing not to go there!!

My motivation comes from my grandmother and dad. They are both diabetic and my father was diagnosed with diabetic neuropathy this year. I started having tingling in my legs and feet. I don't have diabetes but honestly it frightened me. I hear how sad he is. He didn't garden this year and he never goes fishing. My father LOVES to fish so this broken my heart. He's only 61 and should be going fishing and doing the things he loves now more than ever. I don't want to do that. My husband is 7 years younger than me and I want to have a good life with him doing things we love.

MoonGlow, I learned that lbs don't usually show up, after a binge, for 1-2 days later....so save yourself the emotional rollercoaster and try to only weigh yourself 1x per week! emoticon

One would think that weight loss would be a motivation, and it is, however, sometimes it motivates me in the wrong direction! Last night when I weighed myself I came downstairs and ate a piece of Hawaiian bread with butter on it. Then I had another piece and another. I had a two pound weight loss, and I think that psychologically it affected me causing me to think that I could allow myself to have a big snack of Hawaiian bread. I'll weigh myself in the morning from now on, and then have a healthy breakfast instead of a crazy bread binge!

My motivation comes from that I don't want to take medication for high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I got my bp down for 4 years into the safety zone, but now that I have gained back around 18-20 pounds, it is rising again. (My cholesterol has stayed reasonably low).

Also, my motivation comes from looking at photos of our biennial family reunions. In 2007, my stomach pouch was quite noticeable (like a "beer belly") because I weighed around 212. Then by 2009, I got down to 171 and the pouch was gone. In 2011, I was at 170 and definitely no pouch. Unfortunately, I weighed around 187 for the 2013 reunion, and the pouch was reappearing in the photos. To heck with that!

I am heading back to under 175 and will not be denied! I AM motivated!
