WooHoo!!! One week on this challenge, down 1.6 lbs!

My goals
Track every day, including weekends - missed this one due to too many tomatoes!
Walk 5x a week - only missed one day due to rain. I need to come up with a plan for bad weather. I don't much like gyms but I like less walking in rain, snow and/or cold.

This weekend will be more tomatoes so I'll have to make it a point to get online. When the garden is coming in, it takes over your life for a few weeks.



If you're tired of starting over, don't quit in the first place.

Weight loss happens the moment you don't give up

OK, so last week - Friday to be exact - I joined this challenge and said I would work on tracking my food every day, especially weekends. Here it is, 4 days later, and I haven't tracked since Friday!

In my defense, I spent the weekend up to my ears in tomatos. I made and canned 14 pts and 7 qts of tomato sauce which pretty much took me two solid days. Next weekend will be the same then I'm out of the canning business for this year!

Seriously, I did try to pay attention to what I was eating and, because I was so busy, I didn't have time to snack.

If you're tired of starting over, don't quit in the first place.

I managed to meet my goal even though a migraine knocked me out yesterday afternoon! I was even able to get in about 30 minutes of walking for some mild exercise after my Excedrin kicked in and made my symptoms manageable. emoticon

How have the last couple of days been? I'm struggling. I'm in pain, so exercising is not an option (Generally I can push through it, but this is A LOT of pain), and the pain is exacerbating my depression and causing me to turn to my comfort foods (lots of carbs and other things that are bad for me...) Anyone else have this problem? I really need an accountability partner!

So far so good. It's still really hard to get my 8 cups of water in each day (it feels like all I do all day is chug water), but so far I have managed it! And I'm on track to meet my goal again today, so hooray!

You all are awesome! 3 days in, how does everyone feel? My eating has been more mindful the last two days. Every time I want to put something in my mouth I stop and say a little prayer first, especially if its something I know I shouldn't have! This method has forced me to think about the reasons behind my compulsive need to eat instead of just doing it. Ive also been chewing sugarless gum to keep my mouth busy between meals. Water intake has been good the last couple of days too. Exercise has been derailed because arthiritis and nerve pain are making it pretty hard to move the last few days. Hows everyone else doing? I'll say a prayer for you all!

Boy do I need this challenge! I'm going to make my 4 week goals to make sure I get my exercise in - I've been trying to walk 5x a week, and to track, expecially on weekends. I do pretty well with the tracking during the week but it just goes out the window on weekends. I really need to plan my meals in advance instead of on the fly.

I have gotten off track lately. Think this challenge is good for me. I am going to focus on healthy food choices and working out daily. I suffer with bipolar and sometimes staying on track has been hard. It is time to focus.

I'm in! My challenge is to stay within my calorie range, especially on the weekends! I'm using the hash tag on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Unfortunately, I don't think the #backontrack (does this look like bacontrack to anyone else?) hash tag is exclusively Sparkpeople's so there will be other people using it, especially on Twitter. I think if you include #sparkpeople as well that will alert people as to who is involved in the challenge.

Oh boy.

I just checked the twitter hash tag and there is all kinds of junk, and self promotion, and advertising in the twitter feed. Including some woman who is exhorting me to pray every three hours?

I do not have the time or patience to check to see if these tweets are actually from spark people members, but I suspect a good deal of them are not.

I am not tweeting with the hash tag any more. This challenge needs to be better managed by spark people.

I need to get back on track, after moving the family across the US and preparing to move back overseas when a visa comes through healthy habits have gone out the window. I have also had reoccurring knee problems. Found a great chiropractor who is helping me and she is encouraging me to find non-impact options like aqua. So my plan for this month, got the app to track as much as possible but specifically aiming for water and food awareness, exercise to find things that work without pain. Would like to work on losing at least a pound a week so I am back into my healthy weight range for my birthday in November.

You all are rock stars! I had my 100 calorie greek yogurt this morning and I'm working on the water. I also got up and walked 5 miles this morning even though I was sore! I'm so excited. Praying I can lose 8-10 pounds this month (I'm 1 year post bariatric surgery, so 8-10 pounds in a month is about what I should be losing). I have about 45 unwanted pounds to shed before my wedding, which could be as soon as January 4th if we get the married housing we want on campus! Good luck everyone! #backontrack

Happy day 1 everyone! I decided to focus on getting my water in everyday, track all of my food even if its out of range, and try to up my number of steps through my fitbit. We had a meeting this morning at work and the bagels were calling my name. But you know what? I've already tracked it and moved on. Also, I've almost had my 64 ounces of water.

I'm glad that I saw this thread last night. Slept on it, and decided that I'll join the challenge.

I am going to have a change of schedule later this month. At the same time, the enthusiasm for this commitment has been waning. This combination, together with some stress, threatened to throw me for a loop! I think all this had me feeling as though I was heading for an impasse in my weight loss and healthy eating process ... like recommit, or ...so the challenge comes at a good time for me.

I'll look for the challenge. Without knowing the details of the challenge, I am planning to commit to water and tracking (at least minimally, even when travelling); I would also like make an exercise related commitment, but I haven't figured that one out, yet.

Glad to join you all in this 4 week challenge! Happy day 1.

I would like to join. I've been experiencing a loss of motivation all summer and am discouraged. I've gained 3 or 4 pounds (probably mostly water) from my lowest low, but I had hoped to lose 10 or 20 pounds this summer. Instead, I'm struggling not to gain any more.

I will see if I can find the challenge.

I am doing the August back on track, I will post on twitter.

My exercise is fine, but I have about 10 unwanted regained pounds (for all the usual reasons) that I want to shed. I am aiming to lose five of those pounds in August.

I use a Fitbit tracker and sync spark people with it.

Let's hear it for this challenge, what a great way to segue into September!

Your message could have been written by me! We are in the same boat only I am probably much older than you! I MUST get back on track and stop the proverbial, "shooting myself in the foot". Yesterday, I was so discouraged I headed for Presto Pasta and ordered the large Spaghetti Marinara. Felt so guilty, heavy, and much worse, after the huge mistake! NOW I START AGAIN! I am joining the August challenge and will try my best to stick with the exercise and manage to somehow control cravings. Carbs are my enemy, also,

How many of you are doing the 4 week back on track challenge for the month of August? I am, and while I could choose to try and fix EVERYTHING next month, I've dialed it down to two major goals for the month. Number 1 is to plan my meals a day in advance so that Im not eating boat loads of mindless carbs (admittedly, starches are my comfort foods, and I've been depending on them a lot lately...) and tracking my water intake to ensure I'm getting my 64 fl oz a day. Exercise has beenan issue too, but I'll add that back in after 6 weeks when the rest of this stuff becomes a habit again. So what about you guys? What are your goals? How can we keep each other accountable? I need an accountability partner... who's with me??
