I was just thinking today of rewarding myself, but I had a different system in mind - I still like yours, but this is what I was thinking before I read your message: Just like kids get stickers when they behave, I was thinking of pointing out to myself every day that I reach the two goals I have so far (running and not eating junk at night), and then when I accumulate enough stickers I'll do something for myself - didn't decide what yet. I think I should get a reward every 20-30 "stickers". I have a paper I keep in my bag with some notes about weight loss, so I was thinking of actually putting stickers on that paper!
Great idea! My downfall on the journey has been to resisting myself non-food rewards often enough. your system is well thought out and with appropriate values for each milestone. Would love to see pics of yourrwards onyour sparkpage. I have a new iPad as the ultimate victory reward. Just hope I can save up the cash by next December.
Wow I really love that idea to make a visual poster for the rewards! That is a great idea! I am gonna DO that! And it will be so fun! I love dieting things that are FUN! Very motivating, and to stay aware of it all the time! I think for me awareness is the biggest problem in making these changes. Really, for me healthy eating especially is all about awareness. i mean, when i eat sometimes, i am not even AWARE that I am eating, hardly. I can forget easily that I want to limit my portions or whatever. Its a mind disease! The body is just the innocent by-stander! thanks for your helpful replies, everybody! This is such a great idea! I need something that will keep me focused on what I need to do - I think it would help to have a visual board, too, with pictures of the things that you are going to get when you hit each goal and something to show those that you have already achieved. COOL!!!!!

I like your plan! That is awesome, I love how you have it broken down like that. I think I might do that for myself. It seems it would be so much easier to stay on track because the incentives are already laid out!! Thanks so much for sharing.

Got this idea from THE SPARK book! I like it! Starting at 200 lbs 1. One pound reward=new song for my MP3 2. Five pound reward= a day off to do ( or not do) whatever I want all day long 3. Ten pound reward=Kindle book of my choice ( I am usually too cheap to buy these--I only allow myself the free ones) 4. Twenty pound reward=a pretty house lounger I have been wanting for over a year 5. Thirty pound reward=an expensive pair of gold earrings I have been wanting a long time 6. Fifty pound reward=a quality, designer name watch 7. Seventy-five pound reward= a new wardrobe (from the second hand shop, but in size 8-9, you can get VERY nice clothes there!) and a trip somewhere (possibly Ireland in one of those group deals where they decide everything for you and you go everywhere on a bus. I would love that!) 8. Maintenance reward=dance lessons! (I'm not the type to run a marathon, but I LOVE to dance--at least, I used to before I became red barn mama)
