A bit of a round-about way of explaining my perspective on your question: I never got money for doing chores around the house while I was growing up. My parents believe that doing normal household chores (cleaning up my room, emptying the dishwasher, cutting the grass, etc) were a part of being a member of the family. I had an allowance, but that was completely separate from doing chores.

So that being said, I don't really believe in rewarding myself for habits that I should have anyway. I reward myself for accomplishments (sub-30 minute 5k, 100lb squat, etc) but a habit (to me) is something that you should do just because, not something you do for a reward because the results of the habit are its own reward.

I love balloons, so the last time I met a weight loss goal, I bought myself a balloon at the dollar store.

That said, it was the first time I ever rewarded myself for meeting a goal. I've never felt that I needed a reward other than seeing a healthy change in myself. Mostly I did it as an excuse to get a balloon emoticon

I've always set up goals to reward myself after meeting a specific requirement (whether it is a streak or a weight loss goal), but I am always so indecisive about the reward itself that I don't know WHAT to get.

I am doing a charm bracelet, but that will be for weight loss. Every 5 pounds I lose and maintain lost for at least 2 weeks, I can get a new charm for my bracelet. That way I have a tangible reminder of my progress, and even the empty bracelet will serve as a reminder of my goals. I just plan on rewarding myself more frequently for habits than weight loss.

I was just working on this last night. I'm always stumped on what kind of rewards I should give myself. I usually end up frustrated or ignoring my rewards because it's too much of a pain to think of something. But I've been feeling a little discouraged, even though everything is going well.

So I made an Excel chart (because I'm a nerd like that). I listed 26 goals, the first 14 are in 5lbs increments; the remaining 12 are months of maintenance.

When I lose 5lbs I get a small reward, like a new book, or I get to see a movie in the theater. When I lose 10 lbs. I get a mani/pedi.

I also broke them up by categories. So when I cross from Obese to Average I get a big reward (like new clothes).

And when I hit my goal weight I'm going to have professional photos taken.

Then for each month I maintain my goal weight I'll get a reward (a new book or new clothes) and in the 12th month of maintaining I'll take a dream vacation.

I hope that with it in black & white, where I can check off the goals, it'll help keep me motivated and focused.

How about for every goal you reach, take $20 and put it in a jar and take a trip somewhere.

It is what it is....

I love shoes so that always makes me happy but I don't really reward myself much. I just know that everytime I reach a goal I feel amazing and that is a reward in it of itself.
Maybe a new cell phone case. There is a cool site where I get mine called mycellcase.com

I need some ideas for weight loss rewards. I know I want something tangible that will last (so a massage won't do much for me).

Right now, I have a system where I get a sticker if I reach 100% of my goals on a given day. My current goals have been simplified: 10,000 steps a day, complete my workout (28 day bootcamp or a 2 mile walk on cross training days now, in a couple weeks it will be Body Revolution), track my food, and stay in my ranges (or under).

I also get a sticker for every 5 pound loss, but I want the focus to be on habits. I figure needing to buy new clothes is a natural reward for weight loss.

Every 25 stars, I get a small prize valued at $15 or less (including shipping for items ordered online) and for every 100, I can get a larger prize.

I have earned my first 25 stickers, but I have no clue what I want to get as a reward. There are no kindle books, apps, or song I REALLY want to download, and buying a new shirt isn't much of a reward since I have to get new clothes regardless.

Any ideas?
