I am so sorry for your loss.....What a difficult time you are going through! All the suggestions have been good.....Any physical activity will help.....Journaling your feelings/memories will also help...Once in awhile, if I am depressed/down about something...I go to a mall...and just walk and walk around the mall....I don't buy anything....The displays/bright lights help cheer me.....Then, take a book or computer to Starbucks....I buy a small decaf.and just sit there quietly for a few hours.....I think just the physical act of being away in a different environment can soothe you......My thoughts and prayers are with you......Hugs emoticon

Firstly, I'm so sorry for your loss.
It is wonderful you were there for her; but now I suspect you need someone who is there for you - just to hear you talk, even if they have no answers. I do hope you find someone like that.

I, too, bake when I need a stress reliever.
I often just give it to the neighbour, whose wife just died recently (but spent months in hospital prior to that).

Makes us both happy.

However, the alternate activity (walking, cycling, etc.) would be a good suggestion.

So sorry about your loss. You need to feel another stress reliver, I power walk early in a.m., clears my mind, makes me feel good. I do zumba, and such a stress reliever that the days I go I sleep good, when I don't go I feel uneasy!! Your mother would never want you to be in bad health, so take good care of your body...And good luck..

I'm sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what that's like to lose a parent. I will say though, that I'm an emotional eater too. It's not easy to just say "abstain from this" and "abstain from that". Take smalle steps into getting back into the swing of your program. Try baking a few times less each week or bake spark recipes that are low in calorie. Also, follow it by a walk/run/jog to help clear your head in a place you like going to.

We handle grief in many ways...sorry to hear of your loss. Lost my mother 17 years ago and some days still have a "moment"...

I joined sparks last month and was really feeling motivated, the weight was actually coming off. However, two weeks ago I had to go out to California to take care of my dying mother, well, she passed away on the 16th and I have been eating ever since. I have gained 5lbs back and now I 'm not only depressed about my mothers passing but about my weight gain. I don't know what to do. I want to get back on track but baking has always calmed my nerves and made me happy, any advise emoticon
