It's not easy to motivate someone else. Deciding to lose the weight is a personal decision... and you have to feel the effort is worth it. I will tell you... I've found that the older I've gotten, the harder it is to lose weight. So you should really decide to do whatever it takes to lose the weight sooner rather than later.
If being healthier, feeling more fit, or fitting into your clothes better isn't enough motivation, maybe you could try setting some small goals for yourself. For example... lose 5 lbs. - get a mani/pedi ... lose 10 lbs. - buy that new outfit you've been wanting... etc.
Also - don't think of it as a "diet", but as a lifestyle change. Try making small, manageable changes. I don't know a thing about you, but you know what you can do. If you drink a lot of pop for example - start with swapping out one coke with a glass of water (every day)... then every other day... then swap out two a day with water. And so on...
Here are a few ways to "sneak" in a little exercise... park at the back of the parking lot when you're shopping; stop taking the elevator - use the stairs; if your laundry room is downstairs (like mine is), make multiple trips... here's an instance where being inefficient (not grabbing everything in one armload - but having to go back down and up again several times) will help you out in the long run.
Just a few ideas to help you kick yourself into gear. You and your health are worth the effort!
