I would also recommend checking with your doctor about a referral to a registered dietitian.

Ask your Dr to refer you to a Registered Dietitian. Then you will get the advice from an expert as it pertains to YOU and YOUR health!

As a word of warning - some of those weight-loss shakes, etc. need to be o.k.'d by your Dr first. My Dietitian gave me a list of various ones, but she told me I had to check with the Dr first. He said "no" because a couple very common medications I was on meant it wasn't compatible. Based on that we (Dietitian and I) tweaked my diet around so it was workable.

Good luck with your Surgery and a very speedy recovery!

Have you talked to your doctor (GP not surgeon) about the medifast? I'm going to guess they'll say it's a bad idea, but you should probably check with them about exercise/diet and such.

I have a huge ventral hernia that needs to repaired, again. I met with the surgeon and I need to lose 15lbs more to have the surgery done. Compared to what I have lost, that isn't a lot, but I am at the slow end of weight loss now and very limited on exercise choices due to the hernia. So it feels oh so close and oh so far away at the same time!!!!!! Trying hard to keep doing it the slow, permanent healthy way.....but medifast is looking really good right now!!! emoticon
