Think of how much worse off you would be if you weren't exercising and eating healthy! I too have a genetic predisposition for thyroid disease and diabetes, and Grandpa had high cholesterol, but he ate horrible for years. Sorry to hear that you have the inevitable to battle.
Be careful about Nutrition Labels. In a recent news study, it was reported that much of the labels out there hide what they really are. When something is said to be "Sugar Free" or "Non Fat", you will see a spike in other ingredients that is usually just as unhealthy as eating the regular things. In a nonfat product, you'll usually see more sugar. In a sugar free product, more sugar alcohols and sodium. Nutrition Labels are confusing The Government doesn't require the food manufacturers to show 1 Gram of Trans Fat if there is actually less than one gram of trans fat. It is the same as other ingredients. So, the bottom line of it is, try to eat fresh, non-boxed, whole foods that haven't been processed so that you know exactly what is in it.
