I think "10lbs" is an easy target to speak of...after all its a bit of a mouthful and odd sounding to say "I'm determined to lose somewhere between 4 and 10 pounds this month" :) But in my limited experience, 1 to 2 lbs lost a week... in an average steady downhill direction... gives the most enduring result. I believe this is especially true if you've been working at this awhile, since we all tend to 'plateau' somewhat. :) As I'm fairly new to Sparkstuff, I was reading the older posts in here. I get the impression you all tried to be sure NO ONE felt they HAD TO LOSE 10LBS to be a SUCCESS----that CONGRATS were in order for simply leading the way towards the 10lbs!!. I'm looking forward to the next 10lb journey( if I can join you)!

I agree that this thread has been about far more than actually LOSING 10 pounds in ONE month - it has been about accountability and friendship and support and losing SOMETHING if POSSIBLE. It was fun to share comments and to be here. April will be another great month for us.

Going on vacation in April so I know it will be more difficult to lose weight this month, but I'm up for the challenge! I just hate getting out of my routine. I plan to work hard until I leave and get back on track as soon as I get back.

I think I'm going to come just short of 10 lbs this month. Need to lose 2.2 lbs this last week to make it. Don't see that happening as I've spent 2 day this week so far sitting at home with repairmen. I've squeezed in a little exercise but it's not much compared to what i usually do. Whether i make the goal or not, I'm ending the month lighter than i started it!

I am doing well although will certainly NOT make the goal of 10 pounds - I will be happy with 4 or 5 total pounds down. I lost one pound this week after gaining the first week and staying steady for the past couple of weeks

It has been fun to be TOTALLY focused and even though I really have not lost anything this month - I had just come off a 15 pound loss for the previous 2 months so I wasn't upset, but I stayed ON TRACK - in part because I KNOW that whether I lose or not, I AM on track and WILL eventually see those pounds disappear once and for all. We all knew when we joined that 10 pounds was a BIT of an overreach but sometimes a goal like that can motivate even when it is never achieved.

Just be careful guys :) You are not going to lose five pounds in 10 days. If yo uhaven't reached your goal, it's okay... 10 lbs is very aggressive even for very overweight people, and you're certainly not going to p ull that off in just 10 days. For most people, 1-2 lbs a week is safe, and doable. Focus instead of losing say, 1% of your body weight this week!

At the end of the month of April, it will be a year since I restarted this journey and I am looking for a great ONE YEAR total. LOL I am well on my way and I am very motivated.

I am so not motivated today. Another snowstorm and all I want to do is eat and drink hot cocoa. I'm not doing it...but the thought is there. And that is enough to make me go crazy. I got in a Shoulders & Arms workout and did shovel for a bit this morning. I am planning on getting a jog in somewhere...probably once I log off. If I don't....I will keep putting it off. I need to get in some cardio today. I can feel myself getting stronger. My muscles are coming back, I just need to melt off this fat. I can do it. I did a couple years ago here on SP....got down to 145 and LOVED myself then. But then stress hit, some food issues, stopped consuming artificial sweeteners and didn't workout as much. All that equals to a 25lb weight gain. This is another week...and I will LOSE! I WILL! Planning on losing another 2lbs. That is my goal this week. I can do it!

That's true Nancy and in my head I know that. I'm not all about the quick fix like alot of people I know. I think the only way I can get it off and keep it off is diet and exercise. BTW the couch in your pic looks exactly like mine. lol

I was feeling pretty good about my 2 lb loss until my neighbor told me she lost 3 last week eating alot of cake and drinking alot of wine. And with very little exercise. Wish I could do that.

I am still committed but not making much progress - bad timing since I had just lost 15 pounds by March 1 and now have been in a plateau. I KNOW I will lose more and probably about the time this challenge ENDS. BUT I will never give up and continue making great progress in other areas but just not the scale.

Got in my workout....Legs today, plus walked the dog for 30 minutes. It's COLD out there! Brrr! I will probably get in another 20-30 of cardio somewhere today. Not too motivated today though...DH has a fever and didn't sleep well....which also means, that I didn't sleep the best either. A little on the tired side. I didn't weigh myself this morning as I weighed myself earlier this week. I will probably get it done in the am though as I am curious. Happy Friday all! And have a great weekend!

Not sure what I lost so far this month, missed my weigh in with my nutritionist (reschedualed for next week), due to the really bad cold/flu that is going around. Also missed a week at thegym becouse of it - and overate carbs during this time frame. When do I go back to the gym??? I am finally feeling a little better, still am weak feeling and cant breath out of my nose well, also woke up to a full head on fibro flair up. I feel like I just cant win this week. OH well, tomarrow is another day - hopefully I will feel better and be able to take advantage of it and go work out! We will see!!!

I can't believe what I've done this week! I actually ate an entire box of Girl Scout cookies! And, of course, once I did that, there was no reason to not have everything else that appeared before me. Back on track today and stronger than ever. I am telling myself "It is not a race. Don't forget the hare lost." Lucky for me the hare was not around the other day! LOL

this week and next week are going to be harder for me. dogsitting a clingy dog so not working out as much. I am walking her but it's a strain. She's pure muscle and not trained to walk very well. It doesn't help that she chases every thing she see so I spend most of my time trying to hold her back instread of walking. Guess my arms are getting a workout. Lose a little motivation when I don't make it to the gym. Hoping to at least lose 5 lbs this month but really hoping for more.

JR...don't sweat it. We all have those days. The important thing though is what you do afterwards....keep on keeping on! Don't give up! You can do this! Just finished my shoulders & arms workout! LOVED it! I will be walking the dog later when it gets a little warmer. The sun is shining and calling to me! I might also try to get another workout in later...maybe a core one? That one is only like 20 mins. I am determined! I just have to remember to keep drinking my water and stay OUT of the kitchen! ;)

Wow...you all are really motivated and doing great! Even those working hard, but still not losing, are likely just gaining muscle! Now for the bad/sad news. I was so stressed at work today, the cookie monster got after me, and I went and bought a package of pecan sandies and ate them all. I know. I know. But tomorrow is healthy cleansing day and back on track.

Like I mentioned earlier, I lost 1lb and that feels great. I got in my Tabata workout and walked for 50 mins. I initially started walking the dog, but after 20 mins she was all done and wanted to go home. Fine for her, but not for me...I headed back out there, cranked my music and walked another 30. Wanted to get it in before it started to rain. The Tabata workout kicked my butt! It always does....serious sweat and breathing hard! I loved it! Have a happy Tuesday everyone! And good luck today!

Spent 3 hours exercising in the pool this afternoon, danced with my students in class, walked - ate great - BUT no loss this week. Oh well I still think with half the month left, I can do the 10 pounds. LOL
