First of all, forgive yourself for slipping up. Let it go. Don't beat yourself up about it. Honestly, the more you torture yourself and engage in this internal monologue about how you're "off track" and focusing on the ways in which you are not succeeding, the more likely you are to continue not succeeding. Instead, try focusing on what you've done right - it sounds like you ate lots of healthy foods, you're taking care of sick kids (well, I presume
), and you're coming back from illness, which is never fun and always tougher than we expect it to be.
You're not "off track," you're a work in progress. And being a work in progress means having days - even weeks or months - where we're imperfect, where we make mistakes, where we gain weight. In the grand scheme of your life, this five pounds that you've put back on is a tiny little blip on the radar. Don't turn a blip into a brick wall. Just make your next choice - whether it's the choice to work out, or to pass on seconds at dinner, or to throw away cookies - a better choice than the one you made before. When your goal is "better" instead of "perfect", you'll find this journey to be a lot easier and a lot more successful.
