I am a busy mom with a long commute and little time! Here is my aha moment of the week-
I have a lot of responsibilities that aren't going away any time soon- and there are only so many hours in the day. What I discovered this week is that I do have some ability to change the order in which I do them, which can make all of the difference.
This week I tried something new- instead of cooking dinner when I got home, I prepped everything the night before. Why? This allowed me to come home from work and do something for me for once. Preparing dinner still took about an hour, but I was able to exercise from 5-6 and enjoy the nice weather, then do homework, bathe the kids, make lunches, etc. after they went to bed. Just being outside improved my sense of well-being.
Added bonus- I could actually track my food ahead of time because I knew exactly what I would eat, saving me more time the next day.
I also decided to get the kids moving too, so we went to the local skating rink this morning. Instead of cleaning the house by myself, I set the timer and got them to help speed clean. The prize was getting to go skating. We had a blast, the kids got mommy time, and I burnt some calories.
You may not be able to make big changes to your schedule, but a little flip could make a big difference.
