I posted this already in a different thread, but I'm doing a charm bracelet. One charm for each 10 pounds lost - so this will be quite a dangly, jangly bracelet when I'm done with 120 pounds to lose! But it's a fun idea because you can see your progress on your wrist every day. I have 2 charms, well on my way to the third.
And sure, I feel the difference in my body and my clothes are getting looser, and those are fabulous "rewards" in and of themselves. But when you're out to dinner with family or friends, I don't take the time to ponder the changes in my health before I order a meal. What does make me think is seeing the charms on my bracelet and remembering that I made a commitment to myself to reach my goals. Each bead and charm represent something important to me that I want to live longer for or lose weight to enjoy more (like have a baby, travel, live a long life with my loved ones, vacations, etc).
The people in my life and the experiences I have to look forward to are much more important to me than indulging my desire to overeat and sit on my tushy.
It's time to stop emotionally eating. I am identifying my triggers and taking it one step at a time.
