Hey! I'm new to Spark, but have a lot of experience with eating in the evenings.
What helped me with evening overeating was figuring out why I was eating so much in the evenings. For me it was a matter of not having any other me time during the day to relax, and enjoy my food without interruption, or (this will sound selfish) having to share with someone else. I have two young boys and work full-time with children, so after the kids go to bed and my husband is off doing his own thing, it is my time. I used to sit in front of the TV eat whatever unhealthy food I can get my hands on.
I have tried to change this in a few ways. Nothing works all the time, but just being aware seems to help a lot.
1) I've found that if exercise, even just 15 minutes, in front of the TV instead of eating, I usually don't want to eat afterwards.
2) I wait until after my kids have gone to bed to eat dinner so I can enjoy it without interruption(not ideal, because it's late and I'm hungry)
3) I've made it a goal for myself to not eat in front of the TV
4) If the urge to eat is uncontrollable, I try to make it something healthy, like fruit.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
You never change until the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the pain of change.
