Wow! Everyone that posted seems to eat very "clean." I had heard of it as well and wasn't exactly sure what it meant either, but thanks to you guys I have a much better idea!

Don't lose yourself, just the inches :)

When I think of eating clean I think of fresh fruits and vegtables, whole grains and typically when I am on my "clean diet" it means I also avoid meat and dairy as well. I have learned eating clean means something different to different people!

I take eating clean as eating God's Food. It is the food that he intended we eat. I am raw so i eat lots of veggies, nuts, seeds and fruit. I don't buy canned veggies or fruit because whether they are low sodium or in its own juice, it is still processed and there are hidden sugars. I make my own kale chips in my lovely dehydrator and love them. So many flavor combinations can be made.
I eat cookies but they are made from dates and nuts primarily. Sometimes i will use almond flour.
Most of my fruit is in the morning as I use it to mix up my smoothies.

Let medicine be thy food and food be thy medicine.-- Socrates I believe.

It's kinda common sense when it comes to eating healthy and weight loss, don't you think?

Before I had even heard about the book that started the "trend" eating clean is exactly what I did last time I lost weight after my first pregnancy. I decided if I wanted to lose weight it would be best to choose the most natural foods and avoid processessed foods or foods with tons of additive. I went back to my roots, so to speak. It wasn't until this time I started losing weight again that I heard someone had put a name to the "diet".

@JENNILACEY,

Thanks, I guess I have been eating clean all my life. I have never figured out why someone would pay a premium dollar for something that could be made at home with exactly what you want added. This is one of the cornerstones of my eating plan, walk to the store daily, buy fresh food and cook it. I can, in theory, eat cookies anytime I want. But you wouldn't believe how few you do eat when you have to walk to the store, buy all the ingredients, and then bake them. A fresh piece of fruit is so much easier.

Weight is the result of what you have been doing for the past week.

Basically, it's eating as nature intended and avoiding processed foods.

The general rules of eating clean is to shop the perimeter of the grocery store where all the fresh produce is and to avoid most things that come in a box, bag, can, container. There are a few exceptions though but you try to avoid anything with added salt, perservatives and chemicals. Limit saturated fats and avoid trans fats. Limit sugar and choose whole foods. It's a lot of making all your own meals from scratch.

I try to eat clean for the most part, but there are certain exceptions I make, like store bought bread. But I like the ingredient list in foods that come in a bag, box, can, container to be short and contain ingredients that I actually know what they are and they are naturally occurring. For canned veggies/beans I only buy "no sodium added".
