Every day is a gift from God, a present. Today is a new day. What are you going to do with it? It is all about choices.
Congrats to you for choosing to make positive changes in your life.
I had a baby when I was 19 years old in 1976. I had to quit college for a while. I do not recommend going this route! I was scorned from my home and community because I disgraced the family. (Divorce and single-parenting wasn't as widely accepted then as it is now.)
I had to change my attitudes about marriage and life as mine had been unrealistic, but I didn't know that until I was about 21 years old. I went into counseling to discover why I was depressed, and why I chose an abusive man the first time around. What didn't I know?
As I learned, grew, and made changes in my life (including diet and added exercise) I repeatedly asked myself, "Will this make a difference when I am 80 years old?" Keeping the big, overall picture in mind made it possible for me to take positive steps forward each day instead of kicking myself and feeling guilty and confused for my mistakes.
Seven years later I had finished college with my seven year old as a single mom. I got a job teaching and was remarried the following year. Now, my grandkids are ages 9,11, and 13, and my daughter teaches Yoga and gymnastics. I love my family, my home, my job, and my life. And I made all of the choices to get where I am by myself.
You have the power every single day to take the gift of life given you and make changes. Each day you make one small change in a positive direction toward your dreams and goals, you are empowering yourself while building healthy habits in lifestyle, work, and attitudes.
No, I don't have a single, great quote. But I overcame some tremendous obstacles against all odds. And I did it with these few words which I repeated daily. "I believe in life, love, in miracles and God." If no one believed in me (and they didn't), at least I had God in my life and I am a testimony to the change because of His working in my life. My life is a miracle. Yours can be too.
Keep making positive changes each day. You have already begun by being honest with yourself. Hopefully with your boyfriend too.
