Thanks everyone!! I've been running up and down my basement stairs whenever I have to change the laundry, when a load is done I hop on the elliptical for at least 2 minutes. I figure it's a start! I've written "Eat less, move more" pretty much everywhere my eyes go in the day lol.

Start small. 10 minutes. Even better, hop on while you watch tv- before you know it you'll be done with your workout. Once you start, find something that motivates you, be it seeing how long you can keep up a streak or working on time/mileage goals! I think starting is about mindset- just FORCE it for a few days and work your way up to making it a habit :)

Short term goal: - 20 total lb by the end of June.

Intermediate goal: - 40 total by mid-October.

Long term goal: -50 total by end of December!

For me I had to find something I liked to do. I have an elliptical and treadmill in my basement that I used maybe twenty times in my year journey so far. However, I love running outside. I never would have thought I would be a runner since I always hated it but I LOVE it. Try new things! What sounds interesting or fun that you never thought you could do. Start small and work up to it. Once I get my endurance up and shoulders stronger I want to play tennis. What is your end goal? Even if it is the elliptical that you enjoy aim for faster or higher tension - work toward something instead of doing the same workout over and over.

Edited: I know the same workout every day can work for some people but not for me.

For me, I had to retrain my mind. I have to look at exercise as something I must do every day, such as brushing my teeth! It's no different. Also, I look at it sometimes as a mode of relaxation. For example, I usually get home from work 2 hours before my husband. Now, it would be easy to sit there and watch tv/nap the whole time. But, I usually go for a walk around the neighborhood...just 30 minutes. It's so relaxing, and keeps me from feeling lazy!

Congrats to both of you! Today we got back from a weekend trip on the motorcyle. I was quite tired when I got home and thought "I'll start working out again tomorrow". Then I looked through the mail and my Runner's World magazine came.

I sat on the couch and breezed though it. All of the pictures and stories of people pushing themselves got me moving. That and the smell of the chips and french onion dip my husband was eating.

I got changed, got my ipod and went for my two mile walk/jog. It wasn't pretty but it was better than eating the chips and dozing off on the couch.

You will get there, you already have the desire. Baby steps is the way to go. I've been working on running since the Warrior Dash last year. Since then I have been working out (somewhat consistently) and trying to build up my endurance. I missed this year's warrior dash because I threw out my back a few days before but I got myself together for the Beach Dash a month later.

I'll be sending positive thoughts your way! I wish you the best!

There is part of me that wants to say - JUST DO IT!!

But I KNOW that is not always as easily DONE as SAID. Maybe you can simply plan on a schedule that allows you to use your tools. Start with BABY STEPS - choose ONE thing and do it regularly for a week or two, once you get into a routine M-W-F use the elliptical for 10 minutes. You don't have to do it EVERY DAY especially at the start, you also don't have to do it for HOURS or even a half hour when you do your exercise. I will assure you that exercise makes a HUGE difference in how you LOOK even more than in what you weigh. A while back, I lost over 100 pounds and THEN started to exercise at Curves - I only lost another 20 pounds while going to Curves but I dropped 4 pants' sizes and got MORE COMMENTS on my weight loss than over the first 100 pounds. If using the equipment, (videos, elliptical, and bands) doesn't motivate you, try simply walking. If you start by walking daily or even every other day, you will quickly find yourself getting into it and doing more. You will probably find that your tools (the exercise stuff you have purchased) will become more attractive too. Give yourself time to get in the swing and don't let the mood decide for you.

With love and caring from Nancy ... wishing all of you a wonderful, blessed, and precious day.

Hi! I'm new-ish been on here nearly a week lurking around. I'm doing well with my eating and drinking water but I'm having a hard time finding motivation to work out. I have an elliptical in my living room which I look at and ponder getting on then get sucked into doing my grad school work or the mindless television. I also have tension bands and a Biggest Loser workout dvd. But I just can't find it in me to get my butt in gear. have over 100 pounds to lose and want to do a Warrior Dash at some point, so the goals are there but my body isn't moving! Any ideas or suggestions? I
