Hey,

I am doing great this week!!! I posted my goals that I wanted to achieve on my bathroom mirror, so every time I take a shower I'm looking at them and speaking them out-loud. So far, it has been successful in my life, and life changing. I am making better food decisions, exercising everyday, and tracking my food. I have to admit...I didn't think that I could do it at first, but I am very proud of myself. I love sweets and so far this week I have done extremely well. I will treat myself to a reward on Saturday!!!

Hey,
Well i did all 3 things today ...yay!! Went for another walk, made good food choices and tracked them. I think i might just try to do those three things all week...maybe i will get good at them and i will then change them up slightly.

Hi all!
Well, I'm glad to see some of you are coming back and checking in, being accountable to each other!
emoticon

I had a very good weekend!
Sat-
maybe breakfast out? (still trying to stick to once per weekend) -managed to skip breakfast out on Saturday! YAY!
groceries-done
play- attended (DH did not come-he's not that interested in plays, apparently) and it was really good. Will definately do this again!
read textbook -read some, but not much. Need to do more studying.
possibly go to a friend's house for UFC potluck (I'll bring a healthy snack) -skipped this event, stayed home and watched a movie with DH. We are both fighting off colds.

Sun-
Run 12k -done, 88 minutes
possibly breakfast out (depends if I can convince dh not to go Saturday) -yes, planned for it, and enjoyed it! (was more of a late brunch, so was full for most of the day)
laundry-done, and put away!!
Start putting together Assign. 1 for course 201-nope. Looking at assignments, I might re-arrange when I hand stuff in for this course. Assignment 3 requires less prep, so I will do that one while developing Assign. 1

Mon-
run 5k
pick up other pair of shoes from store (I just bought 2 new pairs of runners this past weekend, as it was buy one, get one half off, but they only had one pair in my size, so I had to wait for the other pair to come in. Figured I'd get 2 while they are on sale, not like they'll spoil sitting in my closet!) -Done! AND I went to Zellers (which is closing) and bought most of my Christmas Gifts for the kids I buy for (nieces and nephews). Just need one for my 6yo nephew, and one for my friend's 3yo son, and I'm done.
Work on Assign. 1-not so much.

all weekend:
keep track of food consumed to track when I'm near an internet computer again (probably Tuesday). -yes, wrote it down, and tracked it today.

Today my goals are:
Go to gym (done)
Straight to work from gym (yep, done, at work by 7am)
-3 things at work-1 done, 2 is 90% done, and 3 is delayed until around 4 pm.
Home by 5pm
Start Spaghetti squash baking for supper
STUDY! Read textbook pages for 203 course (that is the course assign. 1 is due for next Friday!)

Tomorrow's plan:
Run 5 k
Go to work
-3 things @ work
Go home
Plan for healthy supper
Work on Assign. 1 for 203

Right now I'm struggling less with the healthy eating and exercising, and more with the time-management/motivation to study and work on assignments. I really need to get on this, I don't want to be leaving it to the last minute.

I hope you are all having a super on-goal day!

Talk soon!
Jen

You did do good on the walk. You may have over did it with what you ate, but you know that it was not the right thing to do. Just try when you want something sweet just do a couple bites or a small piece. I really like sweets also and the carbs. I just try to cut them down and also once in a while I will splurge and have the sweet or carbs I want and then start over the next day. I will be a check in pal for you if you would like. Dont give up it is hard but you can do it

Bonnie emoticon

My god bless you with your goals and wishes. Have a blessed day

Hello, I am the most unmotivated at this time that I have ever been. Last year I went from 240 to 170 pounds.I've had a lot of ups and downs in my life the last few years, I am still trying to adjust to my disability, that prevents me from being as active as I would like to be. Depression has been a big factor in my life lately. When I feel depressed I crave sweets.I know I should leave then alone because they can trigger a Rheumatoid attack. I eat the sweets and then beat myself up for being so dumb. I've always been a carb addict. I've been on a sweets binge off and on for the past 6 months. 15 pounds gained. I need big support. Is there others like me? How do they handle this problemY

Jen, I love that you are so specific in what your plans are for each week.

I don't know that I am that organized. LOL My plans are -- get out of bed, stick to my calories, use that treadmill 3 day a week. Voila!

Nothing is too small to know, and nothing is too big to attempt.

Hey all,
I am looking for someone to keep me accountable and to keep me on track...i do love the 3 goals for the day idea. I work at a daycare chasing 10- 1yr olds all day so by the end of the day i am about ready to crash with no motivation to workout. Maybe this group will help me. I really don't eat all that well ... well at least its not consistent. I have a bad habit of cheating over the weekend for some reason....going out to eat, skipping exercise etc. It is the weekend so i am going to try to stay on track. Jen...as for the weather here in KS i am so happy we got out of the 90's finally....we are still in the 80's but at night it gets down to the 50's so thats really nice....anyways you are doing great and reading what you are doing gets me motivated

Hi All!!
I hope you are doing well!
Sorry I didn't get to check in yesterday, I was run off my feet with my "3 things" list at work. I even worked a bit late to get it all done.
How did you do for you goals the other day?
What are your weekend plans?
What are your goals?

I am learning to try new foods these days, and eggplant is one of them. I've found that when raw it has a bit of a bitter after-taste, so I prefer it grilled or cooked in some way. The eggplant stew turned out well, and I now have 12 servings in the freezer for lunches as needed. It's great to use as a filler when replacing meat, as after it's cooked it really doesn't have any flavour at all, so it'll taste like whatever other spices/ingredients it's paired with. I am really enjoying trying new recipes, and have picked up a real love of squash that I'd never had before. I grew up in a very simple "meat and potatos and salad" household, so many non-standard vegetables weren't staples in my diet growing up. I didn't even have a grilled cheese sandwhich til I was about 14 yo, when I had a sleep over at a friend's, and she made them for breakfast! (She's my bff for a reason!) emoticon

I'm feeling pretty good today. Yesterday was a whirl-wind of inspections and paperwork, but today is much slower (I try to keep my Friday afternoons low key, if possible). I did an inspection this morning, and I have a few little paper-work items to do, but otherwise, I'm ready to slide into the weekend.
Not too much planned this weekend, it's my "flex" day on Monday again, so I'll get 3 days off, which is nice. My first assignment for school is due Oct. 5th, so I will be working on that this weekend, and getting it put together next week to send in by Friday (I'd rather be early than late).
DH and I might go to a matinee of a Western Canada Theater production tomorrow afternoon. Otherwise, it's just the usual weekend routine for me:
Sat-
maybe breakfast out? (still trying to stick to once per weekend)
groceries
play
read textbook
possibly go to a friend's house for UFC potluck (I'll bring a healthy snack)

Sun-
Run 12k
possibly breakfast out (depends if I can convince dh not to go Saturday)
laundry
Start putting together Assign. 1 for course 201

Mon-
run 5k
pick up other pair of shoes from store (I just bought 2 new pairs of runners this past weekend, as it was buy one, get one half off, but they only had one pair in my size, so I had to wait for the other pair to come in. Figured I'd get 2 while they are on sale, not like they'll spoil sitting in my closet!)
Work on Assign. 1

all weekend:
keep track of food consumed to track when I'm near an internet computer again (probably Tuesday).

Hope you all are well, and enjoying the last of the summer weather.

Here in central BC the weather is still summer like during the day, but evenings cool off quite a bit. I enjoy the coolness first thing in the morning, but am not looking forward to having to dig out my fleece and gloves in a couple of months for running. :) Ah well, I'm pretty fortunate, living here I can be active all year round. I only missed 2 running days last winter due to weather. Pretty good!

How's the weather where you are? Is it starting to seem "fall-like" in your neck of the woods?

Take care!
Jen

was very tough this morning getting up, but got out of bed, got dressed and did my full work-out (wasn't pretty-but got it done) thank you all for posting here-will say knowing you all are working hard with this was the reason i did it and not just lay in bed, 1/2 way through the workout i hit my stride and actually enjoyed it!!

i agree with LYNNIERN- i too had been having issues with starying on track during the wk-this has been the 1st wk i actually was able to follow through like i had hoped

wish you all a great day- i was also having issues with my email which i think i have corrected-feel free to try and email me if you want-maybe it is fixed :)

Good Morning everyone....I love this idea of posting your daily goals. I'm going to focus primarily on my exercise because I've noticed that I'm really great on Saturday and Sunday but my dedication starts to slip the further I go during the week, so I gotta work on that.

Walking - 3 miles
SP Weight Training Exercises for Beginners
Flexibility Exercises.

Hope everyone has a great sparkly day!

Hello again all!
Welcome to our newest members. Feel free to come in and post your goals here, if you want. I come in daily (except weekends-no internet at home) to check in and see how others are doing. I DO read the posts, so I do want to know how you are at meeting your goals. emoticon

I was in such a hurry yesterday, I forgot to post my goals for today:

Wednesday's goals:
Run 5 k (done)
Go to work (I'm there)
-3 things at work-inspection (done), review appication submission (x1), upload all submissions to e-file (x4 files).

how about you? What are your goals today?

TALK SOON!

If an old lady can be of help, I'm in Southern Florida and could use a buddy for myself, too... I just can't seem to get up and off to do myself any good....just getts lazier instead of trying. The knees don't want to and I'm not showing them who's the boss. So, let me know... we could check in on each other and offer suggestions...maybe if it was easy at the beginning I'd actually try some movement myself. emoticon

Hello all!
Great to see you all checking in. I'm glad you were feeling motivated, Skier, to meet your goals!
What are everyone's goals today?
How do you plan to meet them?

Here are my results and goals:

Monday's goals:(results)
run 5k-done (got up late, but still went before work to get it done)
Go to work-yep, I'm there
-work on 3 things list for the day-got 1 done, and 3 is done. Working on #2, but it may have to carry over to tomorrow morning too...that's okay, I have time for it tomorrow...
Study/work on Assign. 1 for 203 course.-Yes, done. I read 2 chapters last night, and am well on my way to having my first Assignment put together for this course.

Tuesday's goals:
Gym-done
go to work (straight from gym)-yep, started work at 7am today (to make up for a late start yesterday)
3 things list-getting through it, 1 and 2 are 90% done, 3 is about to be done in the next 1/2hr or so.
go home-not quite time yet...
study, work on Assign 1 for 203 course-will re-read assigned chapters and answer Lesson 2 questions.

I also plan to make my eggplant stew tonight for sure, I didn't get it done last night, and my beans aren't going to hold out much longer. Probably chop up some veggies for a salad as well.

just got the chance to check in, thank you all for welcoming me...i REALLY appreciate it! i have been real good past 4days getting up before work and going for a run and weight training. funny how just knowing there are others out there trying so hard makes it a bit easier for me to just get up and do it. yesterday was hard, but knowing i put myself out there asking for help, i felt like i would be letting someone down if i did not follow through. thank you for holding me accountable-it worked!

Hi there everyone!
Welcome Skier, Furby, JazzyJess and StaceyC! You are more than welcome to post your goals here, and let us know how you're doing at reaching them!

Here's how I did this weekend:

Weekend goals-
Sat/Sun:
healthy meals-track them on paper to allow for update on Monday-didn't have to write it down, didn't eat much, so I was able to remember it and track it all today (done)
only go out to for breakfast ONCE this weekend-nope, went twice. Fortunately it was more like "brunch/lunch" by the time we went each day, so I wasn't hungry until late afternoon, early evening, so I was still within my calories each day.
work on Assign. 1 for Course 203 (due Oct. 5th by midnight)-re-read chapter 3 for this assignment, MUST ANSWER QUESTIONS TONIGHT
READ text book assignments-as above-will have to read this week's reading tomorrow
Sat:
possible breakfast out-yep
Groceries-done
Review/revise and make eggplant stew for freezer-revised recipe on Friday, bought ingredients Saturday, will be making stew tonight
Sun:
Run 10-12 k- 10k done
possible breakfast out-yep
laundry-washed and dried, still in dryer

Not too bad for a weekend. I managed to stay on track, which is amazing, since we actually had friends come in to town and invite us out for supper on Saturday. Luckily I'd just had some veggies and hummus when they called, so I wasn't hungry. We went and had water and visited for about an hour while they had sushi. MMMM, sushi. Maybe I'll call "the girls" and see if they want to go for sushi in Friday... :)

Today's goals:
run 5k-done (got up late, but still went before work to get it done)
Go to work-yep, I'm there
-work on 3 things list for the day-got 1 done, and 3 is done. Working on #2, but it may have to carry over to tomorrow morning too...that's okay, I have time for it tomorrow...
Study/work on Assign. 1 for 203 course.

Tomorrow's goals:
Gym
go to work (straight from gym)
3 things list
go home
study, work on Assign 1 for 203 course

How about y'all???
How are you doing today? What are your goals??? Are you meeting them?
What are your goals for tomorrow?

I really need people to help stay accountable. I've done it before, but it's been so long since it's "worked" for me. I started sparking in 2007. It helped me shed weight and I felt fantastic. That was obviously years ago. Time flys!

So here I am, I run 4x a week but my eating must not be all that great because I'm recently at an all-time high for my weight. Not cool. I recently turned 30 also and I've noticed the last year and a half that it's harder for me to lose weight and I gain weight daily. For those of you over 30...have you noticed that? Its crazy. I feel like I can't win. And in the last several weeks I've been running more than I have in my life. I'm in shape cardio wise and that's great. I just wish my body looked like it!

With that being said....I REALLY need buddies.

I work full-time, go to school part-time, have one child (7 yrs), a live-in boyfriend, two dogs, and two fish. I enjoy crafty things such as refinishing furniture and decorating on a dime. I have a blog, but with school and everything it's taken the backburner. I hope to get into that again after I graduate next June.

I also enjoy eating. A lot. My favorite food is sushi (rolls). My weakness right now is the drink I like to have after work and on weekends. Those extra calories really cut into my calorie budget. I guess really, I just need to learn how to eat in my 30's...lol.

Here are my goals for Monday...

Drink 8 glasses of water
Run 2.5 miles on lunch at work
No pop and/or alcohol
Read textbook chapters
Make comments to discussion boards (class)

Should be doable!

Hi Candok-thanks for the encouragement!
Looks like you are doing a great job of meeting your goals too! emoticon

I met my goals yesterday, and felt good when I got on the scales today and saw another pound gone! YAY

Today's goals:
Run-done
Go to work (I'm there, so I guess I achieved the goal)
-while at work get my "3 things" list done- I'm done one, working on #2 (which will be added to Monday's 3 Things list as well if necessary), and #3 is super easy, so I will be able to do it before I leave.
Plan/eat healthy during the day-mostly, I did eat a few "gummy dino's", but still well within plan.
Datenight tonight-not there yet

Weekend goals-
Sat/Sun:
healthy meals-track them on paper to allow for update on Monday
only go out to for breakfast ONCE this weekend
work on Assign. 1 for Course 203 (due Oct. 5th by midnight)
READ text book assignments
Sat:
possible breakfast out
Groceries
Review/revise and make eggplant stew for freezer
Sun:
Run 10-12 k
possible breakfast out
laundry

Hello again all! I'm glad to see some folk showing up! :) I would love to hear how you are doing, and support you in your journey.

Yesterday I met all my goals!! YAY!
I ran in the morning, went to work and got lots of work done (thanks to the "THREE THINGS" idea) and made it home at a reasonable time.
I had salad and spaghetti squash for supper (as planned, and tracked), although I also had an unplanned tea biscuit...ah well, I was still well within my calories for the day.
I read the chapter assigned, once all the way through, then put it down to let my brain recover. Textbook reading is nothing like reading novels AT ALL. My brain hurt just a little, so after I took a break (and called my parents to see how things are up there) I re-read just the first section of the chapter again, and it flowed much better.

This morning I made it to the gym and did my full w/o.
I went to Toastmasters, and did all my roles successfully
I went to work, and started on my "3 things" list. 1 down, 2 to go, but the day's not over yet...
I've tracked my meals and snacks thus far today, and have to plan/track supper.

Goals for tomorrow:
Run 5k
Work
Eat healthy during the day
Datenight with DH.

I'll think about goals for the weekend later...lets not get ahead of ourselves!
So glad you all came in to check in!

Hope you are having a happy, healthy day!
Jen

Hi everyone!

I've just returned to Spark after a 6 month hiatus - I don't think I did too much damage but - I am ready to get right back into it. On that note I've just re-read the article on moderation so I don't fly out the gate and binge on chocolate all weekend!!!

My worst trait when trying to be healthy is accountability! I need someone there asking if I've been for a run today! So I'm going to keep coming back here to motivate you guys and hopefully the good karma will rebound onto me

Sure sounds like you are rocking it! Keep up the good work! I have my exercise down with no problem but I struggle with eating right some times. I am working on that one tho.

Hello again all!

Well, I managed to reach all my goals for yesterday except the gym, so I'm pretty happy with that. I also chopped up a bunch of veggies for topping on tossed salads (I pre-prepare the veggies, then just combine at each meal, it's faster). I'm feeling much better today, and know I'll be at the gym tomorrow morning for sure (bag is 95% packed-just need my travel bag w/ hairbrush and shampoo etc, and it's all set).

Today I've completed everything except studying, because I'm not done work yet...but I plan to do it tonight while DH is at kickboxing.
My running partner is going to Peru for 2 weeks (lucky lady) so I'm going to have to work hard to get up and run as if she were here, expecting me to show up.

I managed to take a 1 hr lunch today, so did a quick (25min) walk downtown and back to get cheques from my bank. I also walked to my afternoon inspection, but no one was there, so I walked back. It's so nice when I CAN walk to my inspections, get a bit of extra exercise, and it's purposeful walking.

I "stole" the "3 things" idea from the staying motivated board, and have been encorporating it at work. It's working REALLY WELL! I love crossing things off the list, and 3 items isn't overwhelming to look at. Now I just need to do the same for HOME!!

Hope you all are having a great, healthy, happy day!

Jen

Hello all, again (are you still out there?)

I haven't heard back from you since last we spoke, but I'm going to carry on, and guess that some/all of you may come back...

My weekend went fairly well. I met most of my goals.
My text books came in Friday, so I was able to pick them up earlier than expected.
I managed to convince DH of Subway for supper on Friday, and NOT to go out for breakfast on Saturday-I made us each a smoothie instead :)
I cleaned 1/2 bathrooms, I didn't sweep or mop the floors
I did get groceries. I made a huge pot of stew and another of chilli for DH on Saturday, while he entertained his pal.
I also started reading some of my text books, to get my head around my assignments.
Sunday I did run 8k (YAY!) and we did go out for breakfast-that's okay, I planned for it.
Yesterday I did go for my run in the morning.
I even added to my list, and put up some Toastmasters Meeting informational posters for our club (we need members), before I went to the mall and bought new runners.
I made it to the library and logged all my food/drink from the weekend, which is something I haven't done in a while
I even made more of my "go-to" veggie soup last night, and froze all 16 servings, so I'm well stocked up.

Today I had planned to go to the gym, but woke up with a sore tummy, so I stayed in bed and slept it off til I had to go to work.
I'm feeling better now, and will be going for my regularly scheduled run tomorrow. :)
I have managed to stay (mostly) on track today food-wise. I had some M&M's, and a couple of cups of coffee (one was decaf, but still). Otherwise, I've got my meals all planned and tracked, up to supper anyway.
Not sure what I'll do about that, maybe a salad?
After work I have a strata council meeting, then hope to read some of my textbook.

How about you? How's your day going?
What are your goals for today? Tomorrow?

My goals for tomorrow:
Run 5k
(go to work)
Read textbooks, and begin putting together 1st part of 1st assignment for 1 course. Review 1st assignment for 2nd course again.

Hope to hear from you soon!
Jen

Hello hello!
This is my check-in for today and the weekend.

I have tracked my breakfast, lunch and snack(s) thus far today. Dinner is an unknown, as DH and I have a Datenight every Friday, and we include a meal of some kind (usually restaurant) then a movie or board game or card game or something of the sort. Last week we did Greek, so maybe this week I can get Subway. :) Or, it might be an Indian kind of evening...

This weekend:
Saturday: Clean bathrooms
Sweep/mop floors
Groceries
DH's friend coming to visit, so he'll be entertained all day/evening

Make DH beef stew and chilli

Sunday:
RUN 8 K-must map it, or will run 4k out and 4 back on trail with distance markers. :)
Probably breakfast out (another ritual)
laundry

Monday:
Day off from work
Run 5 k (am)
put laundry away?
see if textbooks come in for studying.

How aboutyou?
What's your plans?

Awesome! emoticon

I'm so excited that there are some people out there who want to be accountable!
I can't wait to get know you all better.
***MUSIC***-for some reason your spark page won't come up and I can't send you a pm, so feel free to add me as a friend if you are able. Maybe that'll work.

Next question is, how do we want to set up our check-ins??
Do we want to stop in here daily? Less often?

My only limitation is that if I'm not working, I have no internet, so weekends I can't check in (although I could tell you my plans/goals and then let you know how it went afterward).

Let me know what you all think.
I can do a msg on your Spark Page or pm you each...

Since there's a few of us, we could start a thread here to check in on, or continue on this one.

No idea what works best.

Thanks for your support already, yesterday I was feeling a bit down, like I didn't have anyone to connect with. Now, I have a network of people. emoticon

I'm so grateful!
Jen

Hi all,
I'm Jen, I am trying to get fit before the end of the year, I want to get back to goal and maintain it.
I was 185 lbs in 2008, and manged to lose 60 lbs on WW (flex program)1st 20 paying for the program, then the balance using the program on my own, my exercise consists of strength training at the gym and running (5k 3x/week plus a longer run on Sundays-currently Sunday runs have fallen off the "to-do" list.)
In the past year and a half I've gained back 20 lbs, and just want to get back down again. I have a whole wardrobe that is much more flattering when I'm at a smaller size.
I eat a vegetarian diet, but don't judge those omnivores/meat-avores emoticon out there.
I'm 38, married (DH is a meat-avore, so often we eat separate meals) with a 18yo Step-daughter.
I work in an office most of the time.
During my free time I like to read, listen to music, create greeting cards with stamped images, visit friends and family.
This week is my first week back-to-school, doing correspondence courses to complete a diploma in Early Childhood Education. After that, I am thinking of doing a Child And Youth Degree by correspondence.
Recently completed my 2nd 1/2 marathon(April), and am planning to get back into "training mode", as it is the best way for me to stay motivated. I am also working at getting back into my strength training at the gym, which has been off and on for MONTHS.

I just need someone to be accountable to, I mean, OTHER THAN the old guy at the gym that I've gotten in the habit of telling "See you Tuesday(Thursday)" just so I'll feel like I've made a commitment to SOMEONE to be there.
Checkout my profile page and feel free to add me as a friend if you would like to be my accountability buddy. I want to support you too, so I'd be your check-in too (of course).

Oh-No internet at home, so I only get on during the week, just so you know.

Thanks in advance!
Jen
