Kimmy sorry to hear that the financing still hasn't gone through. That great that the buyers are helping with giving you a week. I'm so sorry the stress is getting to your dh. It's so hard being under pressure of a time deadline when you are depending on things to happen over which you have no control.Sounds like you are starting to think about other options. Sounds like good problem solving skills. emoticon

You were really creative in the kitchen with egg burritos even though it's really tough to cook with everything packed and when you're stressed and sleep deprived. emoticon

I am sending positive energy your way hoping that you will receive quick reliable information so you can move forward. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sept2014 glad you are feelng well and that your bruises are disappearing. It's good to take a break from the gym after so much training. It's great that you will be going back to it soon.

Even though your part time job is almost full time hours hope you are really able to relax and rejuvenate with your break.

I hear you about getting back on track with good eating habits before long term consequences become difficult to undo. I'm with you on this. emoticon Thank you for your encouragement and support. I appreciate your thoughts as I also work on getting back on track over and over again. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi Kimmy and group,

Feeling just fine after the race - thanks for asking. Had a mysterious bruise show up here and there... But they don't hurt and are already fading.

Have taken a week vacation from the gym as a reward but I miss it and will start back in another day. My "part time" job has me working 39 hours this week because one coworker is in vacation and another has very limited availability. Once things settle back, I will regroup and decide what the next steps will be in goal setting. Have been pretty terrible with eating habits this week too so I'd better get back on track before doing any long term damage that will be sooo hard to work off.

Just for fun I am going to try and add some pictures of the race to my spark page. They are not of me but these random people show exactly what I was doing and how clean we've all were. Take a look and have a laugh!

Hi my dear emoticon ! Just hanging out still not getting any word on stuff today. If we don't have an answer about Monday we're going to look into going with a different Mortgage Co and that would put us another 2 weeks out. Holy stress!! emoticon It's gotten to my dh so bad that he was up most of the night feeling like he needed to throw up, so it was a long night for him. Living with most of my kitchen packed up has been a lot of eating out this week. Last night made the kids grilled cheese and my dh and I had egg burritos (at least it wasn't going out) Got things switched around with moving my niece tonight and they got a smaller truck. Not that my house is ready but I'd definitely be working on it more. I was supposed to be off today at noon but worked a little longer and am off in 1/2 hour. The people who signed on buying our house are being pretty cool and letting us wait until next week but it we have to wait 2 weeks who knows what we'll do. I thought yesterday maybe we need to look for a cheaper, different house. But what do we do in the meantime. AHHH!!

Coolrain I will definitely keep your ddil and family in my thoughts and prayers. I pray for those who need peace and comfort each night but will focus more on them. I am so sorry your family is going through this. I hope your stuff goes well this weekend and that next week you'll be able to relax more! Darn stress in our lives! emoticon emoticon I'm glad your dh is being supportive still. Keep your chin up and know we're here for you!

Sept2014, great to hear from you and hope you're doing well. How is your body feeling after your race?

Marbeall as always love your constant encouragement, comments on status's and support.

Hope you all have a great weekend! Relax, take care of yourself and have fun! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thinking of you Coolrain as you and your family deal with your DDILs illness and upcoming surgery. Keep the faith that the medical professionals will do everything they can to help. Take every moment and enjoy your time together. Sending you big hugs!!! After you get through this weekend I hope things will be easier for you.

Kimmy, I know the stress of an ornery Dh!! Am sending you happy thoughts and know that very soon you will be settled once again. Moving is stressful at the best of times and worse when financing becomes a challenge. Things will work out

Marbeall, so happy to hear your brother is doing better and you got the chance to go dancing and visit old friends. Thank you for your kind words and support.

Thank you all for your kind words and support. They make my day. You guys are all so terrific and I appreciate you all.

Have a great day everyone.

Kimmy thanks for updating us on your house buying/selling. How frustrating that buying your new house is going so slow. Congrats on selling your old house. emoticon I hope this means you won't have to make double payments for both houses.

I hear that it's really stressing your dh and that puts extra stress on you and the boys too. I am praying for you and your family to be able to get through this move as soon as possible and that everyone is able to manage their stress effectively. I'm so glad you are able to fit some stress busting exercise in and are stickng to your diet Dr Pepper. emoticon You can do it. emoticon Just a bit more time and the financing will come through. I believe in you. You can get through this and you can help your family through it. emoticon

Thank you for all your support even when you are going through so much right now. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thank you all for your support. This will be short. DDIL is scheduled for surgery Monday for intestinal re-sectioning, removing some and reconnecting parts. This is a terminal disease. It breaks my heart to see her and my son and grandson going through this. If they were whiners it would be easier, but they rarely show what they're going through. And bless her heart, she's such a trouper, president of the county PTA, went to the Natl conference less than two weeks after her last hospital visit. Saw tears in my son's eyes yesterday at the hospital, but he's always positive and strong for her. I'm putting in overtime at work for our annual fundraising event tomorrow. CAN'T WAIT till it's over. Busy Sat. ahead: county electronics and chemicals local pickup, and I will also go to the hospital. My problems are so small compared to my son's and his family's. DH is doing his best to support me and my eating healthy--not to mention my family. All prayers are gratefully accepted. My best to all of you. Will be more supportive next week when things calm down.

Marbeall thank you for checking in with everyone! You are so thoughtful to write us our individual messages and be so in tune with each of us. I'm a little stressed right now and still having underwriting issues. It's so dumb all of this wasn't done weeks ago! Then come to find out the buyers of our house signed all their docs today. My DH is a stress case and ORNERY!! emoticon I think if I drank this would be a time where I went out of control with it. Luckily I don't and will just stick with my Diet Dr Pepper emoticon My DH has been the one to deal with most of this and he's a stress case!

I'm glad to hear things went well with your brother's tests, Marbeall emoticon and that you were able to see an old friend. It's always fun to reconnect and see them. I love seeing your activity feed and that you get together with your Sparkfriend and go walking! emoticon

Everyone else I hope you're doing well and would love to hear from you. Sorry so short! emoticon

Kimmy did you get the financing and were you able to close on your house? Sorry to hear internet is down in your area. I understand how frustrating that is just having been through last week.

Glad your boys are still enjoying baseball. I see you are also squeezing in some exercise emoticon even though you must be swamped with packing moving working at the office and your usual full schedule. It's amazing how well you are coping!!! emoticon emoticon Thank you for taking time to still offer support here and on the friend activity feed. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sept2014. I'm really glad to hear that you finished the race and achieved your goal safely. emoticon emoticon It sounds like you went through quite an ordeal. Congratulations for sticking with it to the finish even though it was so cold and muddy. You really achieved so much by putting yourself to an extreme challenge and committing to tremendous amount of training to even enter into such an event. For me this type of training and event is unimaginable - you are amazing!!!! emoticon

What a huge success finishing all the tight training. It seems that might have been the hardest to maintain for so many months. I am in awe of your achievement to stick to the training and actually go through with the whole cold muddy ordeal when others were injuring themselves and being taken to emergency care. What strong body and resolve you have!!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon You did it!!!!!!

Thank you for sharing your journey and achievement with us and for being such wonderful support!!!!!! Let us know how you are enjoying you relaxation time too!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Coolrain, what an accomplishment losing 25 pounds in eight months!!!! emoticon Congratulation!!!! You are doing it!!!!!! emoticon Nice gradual healthy weight loss. Easier to keep ff than very rapid loss. emoticon emoticon

I am sorry you are in deep stress now. I am praying for you and your ddil. Great job with fitting exercise in your life any which way you can. emoticon emoticon I've found how exercise can really help destress in addition to burning calories.

I am grateful for a good week so far. All doctor appointments for my brother went smoothly. We had fun at his favorite restaurant. I got to visit some out if town friends that I haven't seen in a year. Danced with my dh. Get walk with a wonderful spfriend tomorrow.

It's all good. thank you for your support posting here and on the activity feed too. You help me keep on keeping on. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sept2014 emoticon on completing your Badass challenge. You trained hard and well and it's always difficult when you can't train with the same conditions that you face come race day. Sorry it was so cold and wet. That really sucks! But am so proud of you for completing it! Sorry to hear about your nieces wrist and hope she heals quickly. emoticon emoticon I was the same way after my 50 mile bike ride with not saying I would do it again next year. Still not sure if I would or not emoticon

Coolrain so glad to hear from you and hope you were able to get caught up on some needed rest despite the power outage/issue that woke you. Crazy that someone was out with a chainsaw that late but glad it wasn't down much longer. emoticon Hope this week goes well for you and that you can get the things done that you need to for Friday. emoticon emoticon Hopefully things start getting finished with your kitchen. What a stressful project but the end results will be worth it! emoticon

Marbeall I'm sorry last week was a rough one for you! You are constantly in on my mind and I too think of you closing down your kitchen when I'm in there thinking I should be doing the same thing! This week is a new one and one to start fresh. I'm proud of you for keeping up with your water and freggie intake! emoticon The card from your brother sounds so nice and I'm glad he recognized you for all you've done for him! emoticon Keep on keeping on!!

Weigh2Go, emoticon !! 40 pounds lost is awesome! emoticon Like everyone else has said this is an awesome group and we're great supports to one another! emoticon Keep on checking in with us! Tell us some of your goals and more about yourself, ie: where you're from, what goals you have and what you're doing to accomplish them, etc. Sorry about your foot issue and hope it heals quickly!

Jen hope you're doing well and can't wait to have you check in when you can! emoticon emoticon

As far as me well hopefully today will be the day we know for sure on our financing issues, considering we're supposed to be closing on Wednesday. The downfall is that they're having internet issues in that neighborhood so still waiting to hear how long it will be before they can get it set up which means me having to go into the office every day which totally SUCKS!!! So today is a big day, hopefully we get the ok with the closing (so we can start packing more) and find out how long the delay will be for internet install. emoticon My 11 year old played in a tournament on Friday and Saturday. We sent him up with his coach and we went up Saturday (since it was about 2 hours away) His team ended up winning it!! emoticon emoticon emoticon his little team is good, for a thrown together team for this fall season. I've been really tired but still trying to get some exercise in, not as much as I should be some. Went on an almost 7 mile bike ride Saturday that was great!
Appreciate you all!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi Spark friends,

Wanted to thank you all for your support and good wishes and let you know that I FINISHED my race!!!

Held at a ski resort (up and down the steep slopes) it was tough. I have nothing in my area and certainly no treadmill has slopes like those to train on.

Biggest challenge was the conditions. Pouring rain and 10 degrees c (50 f) Everything was a big mud hole. So muddy a jeep would have gotten stuck. So wet, cold on muddy hills churned up by 4000 participants, my time suffered as I was just not willing to run headlong through it and risk injury. Many were carted off by emergency personnel and others were just lucky! The 40 obstacles were also wet, muddy and slippery increasing their danger.
Most of the obstacles were ok to get done but I needed a boost to scale a huge wall. Got stuck half way up and needed a push to find the top. Thanks to a nice young guy who gave the old girl (me) a shove before going over himself.
After a while, the water obstacles were no big deal as you were already so cold and soaked that you hardly noticed any more. Time was 2 hours and 17 min. Fastest person was 57 minutes and slowest 3 hrs 53 minutes. I am ok with my time as my trainers have drilled into my head safety first. Better conditions would have made for a better time, but that is ok Not quite up to saying "maybe next year" yet.....

It was an awesome experience and now that I have the mud out of my hair and warmth back in my bones, I am feeling great. Wonder how I will feel tomorrow?

Time to relax.... Will keep in touch.

Marbeall, so good to hear from you. You're support means the world to me! emoticon Sorry to hear you're having a rough time of it. I'm with you girlfriend! Don't know how you survived a two day power outage (though in August of 2004, ours was out for 4 miserable days, and my poor brother was without power for about 2 weeks--and no water for several days, thanks to a hurricane).

Our power was out for a few hours last night. At 12:30 a.m. I woke up to hear my DH yelling--and I had ear plugs in. There were three guys in our backyard cutting down a couple of trees with a chainsaw--enough to make a person yell! Come to find out, some people in our neighborhood had a power outage, though ours was working. (DH was watching TV and our AC was running.) Anyway, a few minutes later, our power went out; a few minutes after that, our room got so stuffy, there was no sleeping for me--no rest for the REALLY weary! I poured a glass of wine, and DH and I went out on our front patio, where we could feel a breeze every once in awhile, and watched a guy string new power lines on the pole in our side yard. Not the most entertaining past time, but better than nothing, I guess. Anyway, around 2:30 a.m. the power came back on, DH & I applauded the man on the pole, and we thanked him profusely! Took until around 3:30 for me to go back to sleep. Needless to say, I slept late this morning. God bless the man on the pole, whoever he was. He quickly became on of my favorite people.

I'm so proud of you for your successes, in spite of the difficulties.

Don't know how I did it, but forced myself to do a 15 minute walk last night (before all the excitement), and this morning I woke up to find I'd hit the half way mark in my weight loss journey. Little by little (and I mean really little by little--it's taken me 8 months to the day) I've lost 25 pounds. emoticon I remember when I was in my 20s it only took me a 2 1/2 to 3 months to lose that. Ahh the joys of getting older. emoticon

I second your feelings about SP. Don't know what I would do without my Spark Friends to keep me going.

Weigh 2 Go, welcome to our little group here. emoticon You'll find lots of support if you post here.

SEPT2014, been thinking about you and your BadAss race this morning. I'm sure you did well. You've certainly worked hard for it! emoticon

KimmyGA, hope all is going smoothly for your sale/purchase and the move.

My best to you all. You all are emoticon Have a great day. And keep on keeping on! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Weigh2go welcome and congrats on impressive weight loss! You can share your goals and get support by posting here. As you can see, there is lots of awesome support here.

SP has become my lifeline. Here are my goals; build healthy lifetime habits 1. drinking 10 daily cups of water, 2. eat 10 c freggies (fruits and veggies), 3. walk 10,000 daily steps, 4. stop eating every night by 6-7 pm so I don't night binge, 5. get 8 hours sleep each night and 6, declutter my house and garage to maintain a cleaner healthier organized living space. I've been able to build my motivation, keep on keeping and achieve more with the support of all my friends here than I would have alone. With the help of my spark friends I've been able to achieve and maintain goals 1,2 consistently. My spark friends are helping me focus on goals 3 and 4 to consistently maintain before I move on to goals 5 and. 6.

Welcome. Looking forward to reading more of your posts here. Welcome!!!

Coolrain, thank you for your support and prayers. I'm so glad to hear you will be able to rest this weekend. Congrats on working hard to make progress at work. It's good that the kitchen remodel is getting closer to the finish. Hope it is helping to keep on keeping on. You've done quite well getting some exercise in this week in spite of everything. emoticon

For me it's been a harder than usual (2 day power outage, then 3 day loss of cable internet service and not least 9-11) week. Binged more this week than I have in a long time. Everything seemed to get to me more than usual. I'm feeling very worn down by the bathroom remodel dust dirt clutter and chaos inside and outside the house dragging on for the last three years. I'm glad my dh has started working on it again to complete it by end of the month. I really hope so.

Here's my successes in spite of a tough week. I have maintained 10 daily c of water, freggies, and averaged 5-6000 daily steps. Walked with my in town spark friend. Received a beautiful handmade card from my brother thankIng me for taking care of him. Got lots of wonderful support from my awesome spark friends. It helps me to see everyone keeping on keeping on in spite of chronic challenges and unusual setbacks. Thank you Coolrain for posting here and for your additional support on the friend feed. You help me keep on keeping on. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Sept2014, so good to hear from you. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you tackle your Badass Dash this Saturday, and praying the weather will be perfect for you! So sorry to hear about your niece's broken wrist. But I'm still wishing you all the best for your race. These personal triumphs are so important as they boost our moral, our confidence, and our motivation to keep going on this journey.

I just couldn't get it together enough to exercise this morning, but I--still not sure how--got the where with all to do a 30 minute aerobic walk at lunch. Would like to think I'll get in another 15 before bed, but I just don't know if I can push that far. Here's hoping.

My son started the refinishing on our kitchen cabinets today. The end of the months' long kitchen redo is almost in sight. Hope we can hang in there for the finish. I know it will be great once it's over.

Making progress on my work accounting and even on the fundraising event for next Friday. My boss and I are so very tired. Just have to keep pushing.

Am behind on my personal finances--it's going to be a really tight payday tomorrow with not much to put toward veggies for healthy eating. I hate having to decide between physical health and financial health or even mental health. But we'll get through; we always do--thank you Lord!

KimmyGA, I second Sept2014's thoughts that your closings will happen! I think we just have to go through some trials to make us appreciate our victories more. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

Marbeal, you too are in my thoughts and prayers.

This is the greatest group I've found on SP. Thank you so much to all of you. You make my journey so much better. Don't know what I'd do without you--probably wouldn't still be doing this without your support.

Hugs to you all, including those of you who haven't had time to post lately. My thoughts are with you all.

emoticon emoticon You're all the emoticon !

Hi my Spark friends!

Thank you for keeping this thread going as I do read the posts but am often on the run and can't sit down and comment myself.

Kimmy, don't worry, the move will happen despite the blips in getting all the finances in place. As a retired bank manager, I know that this stuff happens and and although stressful, is normally something that can be worked out. You will get there, I have faith!

COOLRAIN, you have your hands full but please look after yourself and don't get sick over stress or overwork. Maybe it would be helpful to remember you only have this very moment, and do what you can but don't stress over what needs to be done ahead. That moment to get it done will come in due time. Everything will be ok.

MARBEAL, how are things? I think of you often after supper and before bed hoping you are having continued success with curbing your evening binges. You can do it!

How is everyone else doing?

This might be my last post before running my Badass Dash on Saturday. It is in Kitchener which is about 1.5 hrs from my home so will need an early start Saturday morning. Still waiting for the weather forecast. Temps are expected to drop which is better than super hot, but cold, windy and rainy will take the fun out of it. Keep your fingers crossed.

I am as ready as I will be for this. Whatever will be will be. Unfortunately my niece will not participate due to a freshly broken wrist, so my goal of beating her time is written off but I will still try hard for my own satisfaction.

I wanted to say a sincere thank you to each of you who sent along encouragement, support and happy thoughts over the past months while I worked toward this day. You are awesome and I truly appreciate your comments. Each of you has provided a nugget that resonated with me and I will take your wisdom onto the race trail with me and call on it when I need the extra boost. You will each be on the course with me. Thank you so much for being there with your thoughts. I will let you know how the event goes.

In the meantime, take care and my wish for each of you is a happy weekend filled with positive thoughts, nutritious food, an opportunity to exercise , the enjoyment of friends and some laughs.

Hugs all around.

Hi KimmyGA. So good to hear from you. I'm saying a prayer that all works out with the financing issues. My ExH and I moved 22 times in 20 years. First it was college, then the Air Force, then for most of it, we built, moved in, then sold custom homes. My Mantra was, "I don't do windows; I move!" So I know what you're facing. The good about moving so much was that "things" didn't accumulate; the bad was, it was exhausting. I feel your pain--physically, mentally, and emotionally. I saw your exercise on my Friend Feed; I'm impressed that you're getting in as much as you are. And that weight loss wasn't 6 pounds but six tenths of a pound. If I lost six pounds rapidly, I'd be a) mis-tracking or b) so sick I'd probably be dying. Still--I'm happy that I'm going down slooooowly; at least it's in the right direction. I've only been getting in about 30 minutes a day--not enough to dislodge the fat--weight. So today, I made the effort to do 15 more minutes at lunch. But I'm just too exhausted to workout when I come home from work. Our annual fundraiser is less than a week and a half away, so with that--soooo much to do before T (tournament) Day, and the fact that I'm behind on everyday things, like agency accounting--two month's worth of reconciling and operating statements--checks to generate, and that grant that HAD to be written IMMEDIATELY!--I'm exhausted! And the fact that I'm not sleeping well--a nightmare last night--and one of our key workers out sick (she came in for a while today but went home after an hour or so--hope she didn't leave any germs behind--I'm just praying I make it through until after next Saturday, when I have to haul a bunch of stuff to the electronic/chemical drop-off to clear out stuff from my garage. I'm planning on a day or two off the following week.

Also see that Marbeall is keeping on keeping on with her exercise! So impressive!

Keep in touch, all of you--including those of you who aren't commenting much lately. You all are in my thoughts, and I miss the "chatter" from you all--or Y'all, in my Southern Family vernacular.

My best to you all!

Hello my Sparkfriends!! So good to hear from Marbeall and Coolrain! How is the rest of everyone else doing? We are supposed to close in 1 week on our houses and had our final walk through yesterday but then our loan officer called and said we might have issues with the financing which is really frustrating. My husband jinxed us! He said he's not getting his hopes up until it's all said and done. But come on you can't tell someone they're preapproved and then come back with this. So we'll see what the next few days bring. I took money out of my 401k but unfortunately they couldn't give me what I was originally quoted so that gave us $12k less than we planned on which is why we lowered the price of our home more knowing that money would be coming in. AHHH! emoticon Stayed up way late last night so didn't get up to exercise this morning. Did take a minute and do some pushups. I need to be better about doing exercises while work is slow, get some weights in or something emoticon
Marbeall your family reunion sounds so wonderful! Especially to be with family and get to enjoy nature. Sorry you were without power but glad it's back up and before your freezer un-thawed. You have been so busy with all of your exercising, I wish I could put in that much time. Keep it up!

CoolRain 6 lb weight loss! emoticon emoticon emoticon I am so jealous and really need to kick my butt into gear! Are you still putting in more time with your exercising still? I totally understand what you mean about losing motivation. If I don't get my exercising done in the morning there is no way it's happening at night, especially with my boys. But my DH did tell me he wants to start running with me, which I'm not a runner (and am slow when I do) and he runs faster, so we'll see if we can find the time to do that. We haven't even rode our bikes in forever! Our church group is doing a breakfast Saturday morning with a 5k run or a 10k bike ride so we're hoping to participate in that. emoticon
Keep up the great work everyone! emoticon emoticon emoticon Would love to hear from everyone, drop a note if you can emoticon

We're not as active as we used to be. I tracked another .6 pound loss today. Getting there slowly but surely. Hope everyone is doing okay. Congrats KmmyGa for the sale of your home. Know that's a big load off your mind but also a lot of work moving forward. Wishing you all the best of everything. Trying to get back on track with exercising. I'd do more but DH wants me to run errands every night and then I lose my motivation to exercise when I come home. Will try to do another 15 tonight before bed, but not promising anything. emoticon

Wow Kimmy! We were writing our posts at the same time!! Cool! Glad your boys played well as usual in the tournament.

This year instead of Michigan, we had our family vacation/ reunion in south Lake Tahoe California which closer to some of the adult kids who live on the west coast. It was gorgeous hiking in the mountain trails and watching great sunrise and sunsets on the water. emoticonMy dh learned to paddle board. And it was great to spend time with the adult kids and grand children hiking, relaxing on the beach, playing in the water, emoticon fixing meals together.

I even maintained my daily 10 c of water emoticon and freggies emoticon , stayed pretty much in calorie range emoticon with no binges emoticon all vacation long. It was easy to get over 10,000 daily steps emoticon because it was so beautiful outside. The dry warm air felt perfect for intense exercise. The sweat evaporates so quickly it cools as you go and made it feel so easy. Unlike Michigan humidity in July and August that is so heavy it feels like you're wearing the air. Between jet lag and humidity it's been more of a challenge to get my daily 10,000 steps but I'm doing it anyways with a little help from my spark friends!!!emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hope your friends find new homes near your new one!!!

Looking forward to hearing how things are going after the dust settles maybe by the end of the month? Unpacking takes a lot of work too!!! Maybe by October? emoticon Whew!!!!

I'm sending energy your way to have a safe uneventful move and start of the new school year for your boys. Hello my emoticon it's been so good to read everyone's post and catch up. This week has gotten away from me with how busy work it, school and a short week due to Labor Day. Glad to see everyone is doing well. That some old friends returned and that we even got a new friend. emoticon Happy1125. You've chosen a great group to join. We're emoticon emoticon Please tell us about yourself. So glad you've figured things out and are working on being more healthy! What are some of your goals? What are you going to do to reach those goals?

Marbeall sounds like you had a great trip/family reunion. Where was it at? Way to go with those no binge days in August and so glad to hear you're working on it again for September. You're doing great with the weight loss too! I really need to kick it into gear! I have started my earlier wake up schedule with school now in session and it's hard! But doing it most days. Keep on dancing! emoticon

Sept2014 I can't believe you have 2 weeks left! You are going to kill this and reach all of your goals. You have been working so hard, I'm so impressed and you know'll do great! I hope golfing was good! And what a great reward too. Good luck!! emoticon emoticon

Coolrain I love the name Koko for your car! Glad to hear things are getting better, sleep is getting a little better and that your son found that leak! It's great to have such helpful, skilled people in our lives, isn't it? emoticon Hope things settle down for you and you can relax a little more.

Jen emoticon we have missed you but are so glad you checked in and hope you keep checking in! Way to go to get back to running. I should start running like that too. emoticon I ran on Monday for the first time in forever, need to keep working on it. Hope you keep checking in and that the tablet helps that happen. We've emoticon

With me, I move in 2 weeks! AHHHH! Crazy and so much to do. My son's have games tonight and had to take a little break to take my little one to scouts but wasn't told the time. So that worked to my advantage. My oldest took 3rd in the tournament emoticon and my 11 year old WON!!! They did awesome! So proud! I have to run but know I'm thinking of all of you!! emoticon

Sept2014 how exciting your badass dash is so close now. It's for such a good cause-autism. Judging from your timing, your event must be the one in Kitchener?you are really sticking to the rigorous training. I admire your commitment. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'll be rooting for you to reach all three of your goals. I believe you will. And when you finish you will enjoy the celebration afterwards with your 28 year old niece. I'm holding that vision for you!!!! emoticon

Hope you enjoyed your reward golf with the girls. emoticon emoticon I started my September OMAT. still focusing on building no binge at night habit, 4 no binge nights out of five success this week. Feels a little easier than a couple months ago. A different kind training. My stomach isn't expecting food at night now so I don't get as hungry after 7 pm. Also notice that losing weight makes me feel lighter on my feet when I dance. If you can train for the dash, I can train to cut binging lose weight and take my dancing to the next level. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Coolrain, I'm here getting over my jetlag. Still working my way through earlier posts here from kimmy and sept2014. Must have missed the post from the spark friend you mentioned. Will search for it as I reply to the ton of things that have happened while I was away.

It's great that you have resumed your morning workouts and that they are contributing so much to your well being. emoticon Glad your reduced stress is helped your sleep. I too am working on more restful sleep. emoticon Exercise helps reduce stress which helps get more sleep. Seems to go hand in hand. It's good to hear that you are finding more things you like about koko.

Thank you for your supportive posts here and your support on the activity feed. You are awesome!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

So glad activity is picking up here! Marbeall, thank you so much for your support. It means so much! I restarted my morning workouts today, and find the feeling it gives me so great--it really helps me go to work feeling better about myself and my world. Sleeping has improved some, thanks to less stress, but still working on getting more rest as I sleep. I am becoming more used to Koko and liking her more and more. I see where she'll be invaluable in hauling stuff that's accumulated here away, and I know once I finally do that I'll be loving her more. Plus, I really enjoyed listening to my cds as I'm riding around. Been tracking you on my friend activit feed, and see you're doing really well. So proud of you.
Happy1125, so glad that "something" clicked for you. Lifestyle changes can be tough, but SP helps, especially this message board track. People here are really supportive, and I want you to know, you can count on us to support you. Lifestyle changes can be slow, but that's the ticket to success. I know you can do it. That's the mindset you need--not another "diet" but a lifestyle change. I'm with you.
Jenthepen--congrats on all you're doing. Tracking your calories is great!--even when you're over. I think your new tablet will help since you have the privacy you crave--don't we all. This isn't an easy journey, but soooooo worth it. How I envy your trip to Scotland. I have confidence you'll do well while enjoying the vacation. My best to you.
I love you all. So glad to see the regulars posting again and some new ones too. This is the BEST message group! So supportive! It has really made a difference for me. I love you guys!

Hi all,
I'm sure you have all been wondering where I disappeared to for so long.

Well, there are truly no excuses to be made for my lack of communication with all of you. I really lost confidence in my ability to follow any plan, healthy or otherwise. I have spent the past month slowly rebuilding my running schedule. I am now at run 4 minutes, walk 1 minute. I managed to do my 5k route in 38 minutes this morning.

I'm still working on the healthy eating, and finding it a huge struggle to stay on track. I tracked my foods today, for the first time in ages. I'm WAY over my calories for the day, but at least I tracked them. Tomorrow is a new day, and another opportunity to make good choices.

I have a tablet now, which affords me some privacy and flexibility in my tracking, now that I'may not forced to do my tracking in the same room as DH. Not that he's checking it, or even looking, but I just need to get on and track my way, on my own schedule. When I am in the computer room with him, I end up feeling like he'should itching for me to finish what I'm doing and get out. Not very relaxing. emoticon

Anyway, I am quite enjoying the tablet I have, and plan to use it daily this month for tracking---even in Scotland! Yes, our trip is almost upon us, we leave on SATURDAY!
I will try to check in briefly each day, but we'll see how it goes in on the trip.

I hope you are all doing well, and look forward to hearing the news in your world. Thanks for being supportive, I've gotten your messages, and really appreciated them.

Hi. I am back with Sparkpeople again. Tired of the yo-yo dieting. Something finally clicked. Thank God. Looking for support to stay motivated on this "life style" change.

Coolrain, thank you for Labor Day well wishes and for your enthusiastic support. emoticon

Congrats on getting through some MAJOR stresses!!!!! emoticon

I am so happy to see that things are better for you now. emoticon Glad Koko is running dependably with promise for new fun trips. What fun! emoticon Maddie is home for possible future repairs to rise like the Phoenix. The garage is drywalled and the plumbing leak is repaired. What a real blessing to have a son and friend to help you!!!!

It's great that you have renewed energy to prepare healthy foods: roasted peanuts and garlic, peanut butter without sugar or salt, fresh fruit popsicles. Congrats on refocusing on healthy eating!!! emoticon

I know you will get back to your regular morning workouts too. Are you able to get more sleep now with all your progress and reduced stress? emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hello my dear spark friends. Thank you for keeping the posting going. Sorry I haven't posted last couple weeks. Am back from a one week vacation/ family reunion.

Sleep and stress are still major issues for me. But I am deliberately focusing on my successes to keep my energy positive: 21 August days of no binge. Still maintaining healthy habits of daily 10 c water and freggies. Also averaging almost 10,000 daily steps. I'm down another 2 pounds for August.

More later. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi Sept 2014. Good to hear from you. DH is out washing my Kia--I'm calling her Koko for now--short for Kokopelli, whom I have a small tattoo of on my back--a birthday present to myself many years ago--post-divorce, and when I bought my first Miata. It was my I'm doing what I want period--adult rebellion. Also got my only two speeding tickets in that era. And took my first trips alone--two or three to both Arkansas where friends from Grad school had moved and some to Key West--the adult Disneyland. Oh well. Glad I did those things though--no regrets, just wonderful memories. Today, I've roasted peanuts and garlic. Made peanut butter without sugar or salt--hard to find in the store. Also made fresh fruit popcicles. Forgot to eat though, so not doing well Spark-wise. Good luck for your Badass dash. I'm rooting for you! I'm sure you'll finish. Hope you meet your other goals too. I need to get back to my regular morning workouts. Been really slacking off lately. My son and a friend came over and helped us clean half of the garage yesterday. The goal was just for my son to finish drywalling the bottom of one wall my ex left undone. Unfortunately, we found a water leak when we got everything moved, so my son, thank God for him--spent the rest of the afternoon fixing it. Now I know why my water bill jumped so high this past year. Spent money I wasn't expecting to spend, but am so glad to know my water bill will go down now. My best wishes to all for a wonderfully relaxing Labor Day weekend!

Hi spark friends, I too noticed we have been quiet lately. ??? With back to school and the fall routine only 48 hours away I am sure many are busy preparing for the changes to come in routines. I live I a city where the student influx from a large college and university increases the population by 50,000 and with people back from vacations, I really notice the difference in traffic volumes.

Yay for your new car COOLRAIN! Whoops about the battery but sounds like all is good now. Enjoy the freedom you have once again and you will have many adventures!

MARBEAL, Alpinedeb, Kimmy, what is new with everyone? Seems new posts are not coming through on my email to notify me so I wonder if others are having that happen too?

Badass dash is less than 2 weeks away. I am still busy training. Some days I think I will be fine, other days I am soooo not ready! Reviewed the video on BADASSdash.com and seems the participants are all 20 years younger than me. Yet, i persevere like a crazy person. Goal 1) FINISH! Goal 2) finish with a time in the top half of my age group and goal 3) beat the time of my 28 year old niece. I won't be too upset if none of this happens, (well ok, I WOULD like to finish the whole course) but it gives me something to work toward. Running is still my nemesis. Don't love it, but must build up stamina to keep going. The more I walk to recover, the slower my time will be.

Today I am off to do some more distance running, sprinting and jumping drills. If you watch the video, you will see why.... Then I am going to do a yoga class to stretch out. Tomorrow is strength training, and the usual push-ups, squats, lunges stuff. Scheduled 18 hole golf game with the girls as a reward. Then back to running.....

Have a great weekend everyone and keep in touch. What is new in your world?

FINALLY got my new to me wheels--then had to call AAA for a dead battery. The AAA guy is one that towed my Miata home; he said the alternator is fine, the battery is only 18 months old, so it was probably that the car has been sitting on the lot for over two months, and I left the lights on--so dumb! We did our shopping today--8 hours to get the car and then everything; tomorrow we clean the garage. The kitchen is coming along--shouldn't be too much longer before we get it done and life will return to normal--what ever that is! Been missing you all. Marbeall, thanks for the likes on my activity feed, but why aren't you posting? I miss you. KimmyGA thanks for the comments. Miss you guys. You too Sept12? KimmyGA good luck to your boys in the tournament. Know you'll enjoy seeing your Dad!

This group has been really quiet lately. Where is everyone?? On vacations? Marbeall I see your updates on your exercising, how is everything else going? Looks like you've found a few Sparkfriends that are close you can exercise and visit with. That is emoticon

CoolRain I can't wait for you to get your car tomorrow. I bet you are and hope you were able to get everything done with work that you needed to so that you can have a long, enjoyable weekend. I'm excited this new car is going to make it so you can do so many fun things, especially visiting your brother. emoticon I hope your DH is able to get his trip planned. I'm really ready for a trip of some sorts but that won't happen for a while.

Sept2014 how is your training going?? Can't wait to hear how it all turns out. Please check in if you can emoticon

I'm doing good. My boys start a Labor Day Tournament tomorrow, Friday and Monday. And my Dad made it home today from being in Florida for the last year. Can't wait to see them tomorrow. take care everyone!! emoticon emoticon

I'm happay about the money being here, but, do to being behind at work, the hold on the checks, and needing a ride to pay for and pick up the car, I have to wait till Friday. Still, I have peace of mind, after talking with the dealer, that the car will be waiting for me Friday morning at 10 am. Also happy my son has been able to work on my kitchen some more this week and will get me to the dealer on Friday, God willing and the creek don't rise. I'm taking Friday off, after I get the grant done that I'm writing, after the checks are done, after the golf fundraiser thank you letters are done--praying that all happens by Thursday at 5 pm. I should have wheels again by Friday 10 am. First, bill paying--its also pay day, then grocery shopping, etc. Sat. will be busy with cleaning out the garage--hope I can stand the heat. Then I'll have Sunday and Monday to recuperate before back to work on Tuesday. I may even do some fun things in my new wheels over those two days. Soooooo looking forward to being independent and free to go when and where I want to again. Have to save some money quickly to get DH to Ft. Lauderdale to see his father who turned 90 this year. Also looking forward to going to visit my wonderful brother at his gorgeous home across state asap. So relaxing there--in a woodsy, gated community, on a pond/small lake--depending on rainfall--where I love to go but haven't felt safe taking my beloved Maddie Miata for the last five years. Only got to go when other family members went, but now I'll be able to go whenever I want. What a great feeling! Can't wait for Friday to come! emoticon

Thanks for your encouragement, KimmyGA. Money didn't come in today, so looks like I'll be hitching a ride till mid-next week. I can't wait till life is back to "normal" and I'm not so stressed. Sorry you're having power problems. So thankful I've got a computer at home for a while at least. Makes Sparking so much easier. My best to you all. Here's hoping I get the money in tomorrow and it doesn't take too long to get new to me wheels.

Hello and happy Friday! Thanks for your message #Coolrain and glad to hear your great attitude about starting a new day and not let going over your calories ruin everything! There was I guess a big accident up by my house that knocked down a power pole down so I've had to come into the office today. Hope its up soon! emoticon Sure is harder to do this on a tablet then on a computer.
I hope you all have a fabulous day and weekend! Make the most of it and do something fun

So glad to hear from you guys. It really helps! Waiting for the money to come throurh from my life ins. policy to pay for the car, Went way over my calorie range for today, but I'm not discouraged. I'll just get back on track tomorrow--too late for today. Thank you for your support! It means sooooooo much!!!!!!!!!! Work has been stressful; our computer system has been down, so plenty of stress there as well as in my personal life. Went way over my calorie range today, but won't let that get me down. Will get back on everything tomorrow. KimmyGA. so gald you finally sold your home. Know that you'll rest easier now.

\Thank you Sept2014 for your encouragement too. I'm trying to sleep, but so far haven't gotten a good night's sleep. Once everything is dome, and the car is mine, things will get easier.

You guys are the ABSOLUTE GREATEST! So glad I found you guys! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Coolrain I'm sorry about the stress you've had with buying this new car. Hopefully now that it's done you'll be able to catch up on some needed sleep! I like Kia's. I wanted to buy the one bigger than the Sportage but couldn't find one. So I drive a Nissan Murano which I really like. I'm also glad you were able to keep your Miata in the family! That would be fun to work on her and get her fixed up. emoticon emoticon

Sept2014 I did sell my house!! Whew! Nothing like waiting until right before school starts. So now we get to drive my son to Jr High for a few weeks until we move. We went and registered him yesterday. That school is huge!! Hope that doesn't intimidate him. So now it's slowly starting the packing process. The buyer is actually coming tomorrow to do the inspection himself so we're trying to clean things up, with working and both boys having baseball games tonight. emoticon We close on the 17th of Sept and then move the 19th and 20th. So crazy to think and sad to know we're leaving great friends behind. We do have a friend around the corner who are looking over there now which would be great since that put a couple good friends within a couple houses of us and my youngest would have his best friend by us too.

We're missing our old Sparkfriends! Check in if you can ladies!! emoticon emoticon Hope everyone has a sparky day!!

Thinking of you COOLRAIN, it can be very tough to give up your favourite car, but good news is that it is still in the family and holds promise for the future if you can fix her up. Meanwhile, you will start to "trust" the new car to look after you and make new memories driving it. Please try hard to get some sleep, it is important for your health.

Kimmy, you sold the house! Yay for you! Is the one you wanted still on the market? How so is moving day?

MARBEAL, been out dancing??

Alpine Deb.... And the rest of the group..... Where are you???? What's up?

Short post. Exhausted as I haven't slept well for about a week being so stressed out over now vehicle, mourning the loss of my beloved "Maddie" Miata (18 years of companionship)--I feel like I've lost a beloved pet. Bought a Kia Sportage--new to me--with low mileage, but an automatic transmission. Since I've driven stick shifts for most of my adult life, getting used to an automatic is going to take some time. Had Maddie towed home tonight--it felt like bring home a deceased pet. I cried, some from going to miss her, and some from exhaustion. DH want to keep her until we can fix her up. In four years she'll be an antique, so, if DH can get a job after not working for years because of cancer, we hope to get her running again. Like my new-to-me Kia, but, not the same feelings I had when buying my Miata. Life changes, and we have to change with it. Hope to get some more sleep in the next few days. Hope all are doing well. emoticon

Hello all!! Happy Monday to you! emoticon It started out with a beautiful sunrise when I got up to do my walk/run. Did you see I said run!!! emoticon It's been feeling better more and more but at my dad's house Saturday while we were there cleaning it I needed something from my car so took a jog out there and was so happy it didn't hurt. So I'm going to try to start running a little more with my walks to incorporate that again! Start with Thursday. We took our kids to an amusement park for something fun before school starts next week, had 3 showings that night and went to one of my youth's wedding reception then to the temple with my nephew and family. Friday went to dinner with my childhood friends. It was fun, then Saturday cleaned my dad's house, went to my son's baseball game and lunch with some of my brother's. Then hung out at home that night. Oh ya let me not forget that Thursday night we got an offer on our house!!!!!!!!!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon We counter offered them on Friday, they countered us on Saturday and we accepted their offer! Oh what a relief!! I just hope it works. Had a friend who had 2 offers on her house and they both withdrew, so I'm a little leery.

So emoticon emoticon Sept2014 for your comment and for everyone's support and thoughts!! I'm glad to hear your wedding went well and how fun and exciting for your family! Sorry for the rain but glad to hear that wasn't going to stop it. And to have a new baby born just hours later is exciting too. A great day to remember for all involved! I'm so excited for you and your hard work with your training! You're going to ROCK this!!! emoticon emoticon

Marbeall emoticon on your 19,000 steps. That is so great! I love how you've connected with a Sparkfriend and get together to go walking. I am friends with her now too! You've really pushed yourself to do things for you. Did your DH go emoticon?? How's your brother? Looks like your no binge eating has been going pretty good! Keep that up emoticon emoticon

CoolRain what kind of cars did you go look at? Hopefully that can get decided so you aren't carless very much longer! emoticon One day I will own a brand new vehicle, I don't know what that's like but have had a few cars that I've owned that have reached 100,000. What a sad day but grateful I have it. I agree with Sept2014, we rely on them so much but in this day and age we need them.

Wish the others that used to come on this thread would stop by and let us know how they're doing!! We emoticon emoticon

Hope you all have a fabulous week! Grateful for you guys, your messages and support! emoticon emoticon

Hi spark friends!

Kimmy -any bites on the house? Even a nibble of interest? The housing market can be sooo competitive. There is a buyer for every property, you just have to be patient I guess. Hope your buyer shows up soon. emoticon

COOLRAIN, good luck on the car hunt. What a drag to be without one. They can become part of you can't they? I have been known to be slightly emotional saying goodbye to old ones but fall in love quickly with the replacement. emoticon

Speaking of love.... Family wedding update. Just before the ceremony it poured, requiring a quick change of venue from garden gazebo to indoors. No biggie, the wedding party simply walked an impromptu "aisle" between the guest tables and took their vows in front of the head table. It worked out fine. Pictures (quickly) in the overhang of the building and lots of laughs. emoticon Bridesmaid (grooms sister) was 9 mths pregnant; made the ceremony but delivered a girl a few hours later. It has been a crazy weekend!!!! emoticon

MARBEAL, keep on walking. Wow, 19000 is a ton of steps! Fantastic work. It is kind of you to share that I inspired you but really, it is hearing of the work everyone on this thread is doing that is inspirational. We are all at different places in our journey but can all learn from each other. Together, we can reach our goals. emoticon

Sept2014 best wishes to the bride. emoticon How exciting for you and your family!! emoticon emoticon

I can't run like you but I can walk. You've inspired me to keep pushing and ramp up my walking. I walked over 19,000 steps on Friday. emoticon Walked with two different friends. emoticon Parked a couple streets away and walked to see my brother. emoticon Walked several city blocks to go dancing that night. emoticon

Hang in there with your training. emoticon emoticon I'm rooting for you. You can do it this month. Good job getting support and focusing on your inner game. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Have butterflies in my tummy today.

Big excitement in the family as my niece is getting married on Saturday. We have a very small family and this is the first wedding in 20 years! Hoping for nice weather as the nuptials are scheduled to take place in a gazebo in a very beautiful 59 acre park. Lots of anticipation.

Also, the big BADASS Dash is now officially less than a month away. Getting nervous I will not be ready. Still doing my boot camp exercises and weight lifting and am ramping up the intensity. Running is still my downfall though. I spoke to a personal trainer I used to work with. After her questioning, I seem unable unable to pinpoint what makes me stop and walk after just 1/2 mile, it is just a mental hurdle. I can't say I actually LIKE running, but it is a big part of the obstacle course. Today I am going to the track again and focus on distance. Wish me luck.

Here is to everyone having a good day today...... Have to hurry up and get off to work. Putting in lots of hours (too many)? at this part time job. Supposed to be retired.....

Sept2014 thanks for writing a note so it got some responses on it. emoticon Our board has been kindof quiet. How's the training going?? I've thought a couple times that I should get on and send a message. Hope everyone is doing well.
AlpineDeb how are things going with you?? Thanks for dropping that quick note to us also. emoticon
Coolrain I'm sorry to hear about your car. Sounds like it had a long life and treated you well. But sorry for the inconvenience it is causing! Good luck car shopping emoticon Hope you find something soon so you don't have to ask people to take you places.

As far as me, not a lot is going on. I've had showings scheduled on my house every day this week and our agent says he is going to sale it this week. Keep your fingers crossed. emoticon Baseball practice has started up again and we start league play on Saturday. Which all my siblings here are planning on going to my dad's to clean up his house before they come home from being in Florida the last year. They are going on a cruise Saturday and then will start their drive home. My back is feeling better but still sore. Can't wait to be able to do stuff without little things causing me pain. I need to start encorporating weights and see how I do with that.
Hope you all have a fantastic day!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Marbeall, Jen, any others please check in and let us know how you're doing!!

Hi everyone. I've been out of touch for awhile. My car, "Maddie" (a 20 year old Miata that almost seems like a family member) broke down last week. It looks like it's going to be terminal. I'm in mourning--not to mention stressed to the max. She was my only car, so now I have to get a ride to work, walk to the store--about 2 1/2 miles away, get someone to help me get out to buy a car, and more. Everything becomes so complicated without a car. Will try to keep in touch as time allows. Hope all are doing fine. At least I'm getting some exercise. Sigh!

I like your response AlpineDeb! You can do it, we all can do it one pound at a time!! emoticon emoticon emoticon I just have to remind myself it didn't take overnight to get to where I'm at so loosing the weight won't be overnight (though it'd sure be nice if so) emoticon

Thanks, Kimmy, for the kind words. I'm picking myself up, dusting myself off, and moving on. I posted the offending picture to my sparkpage, because I decided that I just need to own who I am. And it's nice to see the happy faces of all my market friends.

I know that the only solution to not liking my size is to change it one pound at a time. There's not magic bullet. As long as I focus on one pound at a time, I'm okay. It's when I focus on how long it will take that I get discouraged.

AlpineDeb I'm sorry your friend is moving away! But the good thing is that you can always keep in touch. It might not be as easy as it was before but don't let a good friendship like that be ruined just because they moved. emoticon As far as your pity party I hope today is a new day and that your party is over! Just remember why you are part of Sparkpeople and this group! We're here to support you and will do what we can! emoticon emoticon You just need to evaluate things maybe and look at where you could maybe change something. Please let us know what we can do! emoticon Remember you are worth it! emoticon Congrats also on the great streak you had with those salads. Don't let 1 day missed get you down. Start again! emoticon Congrats on winning the gift card too. That is awesome, I never win anything

Hi everyone. Just a quick hello today.

The scale has continued to move incrementally downward, so I'm really pumped. It seems I finally have found the magic formula for my body: 45 mins or more of exercising everyday. Oh well. A few months ago that would have done me in to even think about, so it's a good thing I didn't know it then. As it is, I've worked up to that and am ready for it. What a difference for me--the "slug" though. Guess I have to quit referring to myself as a "slug."

AlpineDeb--Congrats on your win. I'd love to win $50 at our local health food store. Don't let that photo get you down. Instead, focus on what's going well and what you're doing right. I can't believe you ate salad everyday for as long as you did! That's impressive! Just start another streak. I know what you mean by the ambiguity of a new hair cut. It happens every time I get mine cut, so I haven't had it cut in a couple of years now. It's less frustrating, and cheaper too.

KimmyGA--I'm still crossing my fingers for your house sale.

Oh, I'm on Day 15 of my exercise streak, Me! I can't believe it!

Take care everyone.

Happy Sunday, everybody!

Kimmy, good for you on giving blood. And you have certainly been busy with soccer! Good luck with selling your house, sometimes that is a very frustrating endeavor.

Coolrain, congrats on moving into a new decade!

Sept2014, I'm really impressed with your activity level! You are meeting some great challenges!

Marbeal, Congrats on the 6 lb l;oss!

I'm feeling kind of down today. Some friends are moving away, and we're going to their hose for dinner, and I just don't want to say goodbye. I will really miss them. The wife is a vendor at the farmers market, so yesterday at the market we did a group photo, and it's a great photo, but I am so huge! I really feel disturbed when I look at that picture. Plus, I got my hair cut on Friday, and I'm not sure if I like it. So, I'm having all sorts of image issues. I'm trying to use that to spark myself. Oh, and I broke my salad streak yesterday. Pity party time!

On a happier note, I just won a $50 gift certificate to the local health food store in a raffle!

Okay, enough pity party, I'm off to do laundry and grocery shopping.

Sept2014 So great to hear your determination and know that with all you do that you will accomplish all you want to in life. This challenge your training for is mind boggling to me and I would love to see all that you do to try these different challenges. emoticon Keep your head high and know we're here to support you. Thanks for your kind words!

Coolrain 2 lbs is emoticon emoticon Keep up what you're doing, it's working. I thought of you and your time when I was on my walk this morning. If I had more time I would have extended my walk longer but didn't. I'm sorry you deal with a back injury too. I don't know how people deal with it and for so long. Sounds like it doesn't get you down so that is great to hear. I did go with my SIL last night and got fitted for shoes. I've never done that before so it was interesting. I'm glad to know I was using the right brand but just needed a little different style. I had to jog for him so he could watch my feet and was that hard with my back. But I survived.

I just gave blood an hour ago emoticon I love being able to help people in little ways like that. It was great to be there as a support for a dear friend who has passed out the last 3 times she tried but made it today!!! I have to work late tonight emoticon but hope you all have a fabulous weekend! Take time for yourself, enjoy each day and know we're all cheering each other on!! emoticon We just lowered the price on our house today and are probably going to have an open house, so any good thoughts or vibes you could send my way is appreciated! Plus we put money down to secure the house we are wanting, since they're almost gone. emoticon emoticon

Happy Friday everyone!

KimmyGA1, so glad to see you back. emoticon I've missed you. Congrats to your sons on their third place win (and to you for all the driving and supporting and for healthy lunches and lots of water). emoticon Now I understand where you were--pretty busy. Sorry to hear about your back. I can relate as I've had back problems ever since a guy jumped on a diving board I was hanging onto in the pool--back when I was 18 (we won't go into how many years ago that was). I'm glad to hear you were able to get some relief. I'm sorry to hear your house hasn't sold. I know you were hoping to move before school starts. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the right person finds you soon.

Sept2014--I am blown away by your training routine. emoticon Wow! I can NOT imagine running a 4.5 mile race. But I have to admit, I'm starting to think maybe someday. I'm doing so much more than I thought I could do 6 months ago, so I'm open to the possibility. Maybe when it cools down I'll give it a go--slowly.

Marbeall--Congrats on the 6 pound loss, and especially on the 5 nights streak you have going. emoticon emoticon emoticon I'm so proud of you. You go girl!

Oh--one more thing--I actually saw another .2 pound loss this morning which took me into the next set of 10s on the scale. I did a Happy Dance! emoticon emoticon I'm on day 12 of my exercising streak. emoticon

Well, I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend. Remember, we're all in this together. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi everyone, hope this note finds you happy and determined to keep reaching for your goals! You CAN do it you know.... I mean if your life depended on it, could you resist the treats or put in that extra bit of movement for the day? Of course we can right?? emoticon emoticon I have to ask myself how badly do I want it?

Alpinedeb and MARBEAL, thank you for your thoughts on my musings over being scared. I think you are very right, perhaps it is a fear of failure. Such a strange thing as I am generally a strong, confident type of person with an ability to quickly weed through the "crap", reach an intelligent conclusion and move forward quickly with a willingness to work very hard for what I want. I am blessed to say that success (or luck) seems to appear. Or, perhaps it does not occur to me that something is not successful - rather that it just needs a different approach. So, to identify an hidden insecurity within myself ithat I might fail is a new train of thought I need to explore further. Thank you for your support! I will figure it out!

So, I completed self-imposed test #2 on the day I was feeling particularly scared. Good news is that I met my push-up goal and held the plank for the length of time I had selected. Ok, the chin ups were a but shaky near the end and perhaps the form was beginning to fade, but I did 2 extra to make up for that.

Today I am going to get a run in as the race is 7 km (4.5 miles). I am practicing all types emoticon of weird moves to prepare for the obstacles ii will be encountering -you would laugh to see me. I am certain I look silly but don't care! Trying to simulate crawling along the ground really low as I will need to go under lengths of fencing and through tunnels. Am working on climbing and jumping obstacles and really want to figure out how to simulate climbing over a brick wall. Might just go to a children's playground and try out the monkey bars......

It is so good to hear of everyone's progress. COOLRAIN, your 20 is impressive. Way to go!
emoticon emoticon

Alpinedeb, I don't have a dehydrator, but your ideas are terrific, I do a lot if freezing of fresh fruits and veggies. While I can purchase all of them in the dead of winter, having ripened on a truck while en route, they just don't taste as good as fresh and local does.

Kimmy, I sure am glad your back is feeling a bit better and hope that every day shows even more improvement. emoticon

MARBEAL, yay for 6 lbs.! You are staying focused and I like your idea of closing the kitchen for the night and doing other things to keep you occupied. Well done!

Spark friends, you are all awesome, and everyone is working so hard to reach their goals. Thanks to each of you for sharing your ideas, successes and challenges. We are in this together and I appreciate the support. emoticon emoticon

Have a great day'!!!!!!

Hello my Sparkfriends!!!! I've emoticon guys and sorry I haven't checked in for a while. Last week was such a blur. I had to drive at least 45 minutes every day up to where my son's tournament was at. The first day was a skills competition with 4 different areas and both the 10U and 12U (10 year old and 12 year old) teams took 2nd place and got a trophy. We started off not so good with losing our first 2 games and then won our next game. That put us as the 14th seed out of 26 teams. I ended up driving this canyon 6 times (Monday-Saturday) I was pretty sick of it. But on championship day we were in the loser bracket and had a come back win on our first game, won our next game and then lost the game after that against the team we lost to first off putting us in the losers bracket. They were from California and had played together since they were 5. Our team had only practiced together for 2 weeks before this tournament. So we ended up with a 3rd place finish!!! emoticon emoticon so that was pretty exciting. Went further than any of the other Utah teams. But it made for a long week but so proud of them and their efforts! During that time we celebrated that son's 11th birthday. emoticon so a great week for him. I didn't get a lot of exercising in that week but tried to hit at least my 6000 steps. I brought lunch for us so we didn't eat out and hit my water intake most days. The downside is my back is still having major muscle issues. The chiropractor just said to keep doing these stretches but was getting frustrated since the only exercise I could do was walk and even that hurt. Ended up taking my oldest son in for a scout physical on Tuesday and was talking to my Dr about my back and he gave me a prescription for a muscle relaxer and then offered a shot to put right in my back. I did that and by the next day it is doing so much better. emoticon I don't feel as old as I had been. My right side is still sore but tolerable. Still can't run and stuff but maybe it'll get to that point soon! I went to volleyball last night and that was kindof hard, still sore but better than the last time I played. So that's me in a nutshell. Oh ya no luck on the house emoticon Every other house around us has sold, even some new ones in just a matter of days. We're getting frustrated and wonder if this is what we're really supposed to be doing. School starts in just over 3 weeks so looks like we'll at least be starting in our same school for my oldest emoticon So time shall tell

I have read all your posts and it was good to catch up with you guys, seeing what you've been working on, your challenges, motivation and support to one another.

Marbeall I'm so glad to hear your brother is doing better, is out of the hospital and on the road to recovery. I'm sure that is a relief to you. Congrats on the 6 lb loss too. I love you are staying accountable for what you do and eat every day. Keep it up. Your binges have minimized but it's just a work in progress. emoticon Can't wait for you to get out there dancing even more and improving your health and wellness even more.I really like that information from that article and plan on reading it more. That is a good reminder to me especially! I'm glad you and your DH were able to get away too. Sounds nice and relaxing.

Coolrain emoticon on your 20 lb weight loss! What an accomplishment! I hear you that probably with long exercising that is what is helping. Sometimes it's hard to put that much time in. I know I've gotten more lazy this summer since I don't have to wake up as early but still I only put in my 30 minutes. I should try to put in more, especially since I've had a little bit of a gain. Keep up with what you're doing and you'll see results! emoticon

Sept2014 great job on your training and sorry to hear you were down for a bit. What surgery did you have? I admire you for your determination to complete this challenge and know you'll do emoticon !!

AlpineDeb way to go with dehydrating stuff and trying to make things more healthy. I have my dehydrator in storage emoticon but love when I can to dry fruit. I don't think about veggies as much but should. My DH was given a bunch of squash and zucchini from one of his jobs he did. I should consider drying some of it. Glad you were able to get away even if it was for work and hope you've caught up on needed rest. I know I could sure use a get away where I don't have to worry about anything emoticon

You are all so wonderful and I've enjoyed your encouragement, motivation, support and friendship. Let's keep working on become healthier and happier!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi Spark Friends.

I'm still Streakin'. Day eleven. 30 mins so far today; I'm getting in about an hour most days now, but my streak is for 30 mins. a day. I posted a couple of motivational sayings where I can't miss them, like above the TV; "Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes" was one. They remind me to MOVE more! It's working!

Now I'm getting messages that I may need to eat more since I'm exercising more. Sigh. I'm gonna' stick with what I'm doing for a couple of weeks and see what happens with my weight before I change anything else.

AlpineDeb--Congrats on your lost pound! emoticon emoticon emoticon (I think I found it though. emoticon ) My weight just seems to go up and down a pound more or less over and over before I actually keep off a pound. So frustrating! Thus the exercise streak. Hope it works.

Everyone have a great day. emoticon

Coolrain and Marbeall--this is a great conversation about motivation and streaks. You are both inspiring me.

I lost a pound this week! My mantra all week was, "Will this help me lose a pound this week?" and it worked!

AlpineDeb--thanks for sharing your dehydrating ideas. I'm going to definitely do more dehydrating. I just love the idea of having a quick broth mix as the base of a quick soup. And the dehydrated tomato puree sounds like a great idea. Can't wait to get started.

Marbeall--Thanks for your encouragement. I got in 85 minutes of exercise yesterday and so far have 45 today. I'll do another 15 mins. at least once more today. You're right. It is becoming a habit. And today was Day 10 of my streak! That's helping me stay motivated. Unfortunately, the local group of Sparkers is inactive. The next closest one is really heavy into racing, and since I haven't worked up to running/jogging yet, I haven't gotten involved yet. I am thinking about maybe working into some running/jogging once it cools down. I like the idea of a 5K. I'm finding that pushing myself and seeing that I can do more as I go along is also motivating. A few months ago, I'd never have believed I would exercise as much as I am now. Ahhh, the Beach Boys. emoticon I grew up with their music, and since I live about 5 mins. from the Gulf, their music was extra special. I've been to a couple of their concerts. Yeah, they make me want to move. emoticon
Can't wait for cooler weather and getting my garden going. I'm checking out what varieties will do well here and when. This will be my first real garden. emoticon In the past I've grown a few things here and there, but mostly in containers. My DH and I were starting to garden more when he was diagnosed with cancer. That kinda' put the gardening (and most other things) on hold. But he's doing well, has regained his strength, so we're reading to try again. I'm crossing my fingers.
Thank you all for your support. You're the greatest! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Coolrain welcome back!!! Congrats on achieving you interim weight loss goal of 20 pounds!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon
emoticon
Taking doable steps is making you a success!!!! Congrats on creating a spark notebook and getting your exercise in. I saw the progress you've been tracking on the activity feed. emoticon emoticon

I believe you will find out how to maintain 45 minutes of daily exercise because you are already building a habit of exercising. In addition you are thinking about motivational rewards. emoticon

Music helps motivate. emoticon Maybe load up some of the beach boys or some other songs emoticon emoticon you mentioned in your blog about getting to know each other. Activity buddies can motivate with social reward and external accountability. emoticon

Dancing motivated me in those ways. emoticon I met a spark friend in real life yesterday for the first time and we had great fun walking at lunch time. Do you have a spark group for your city?

Breaking 45 minutes into three 15 minute. Keeping track with stickers on a nicely decorated chart in your new spark notebook. Is there a physical activity or sport you want to get better at? emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Hope these ideas help. Looking forward to hearing what you discover works best to motivate you.

Wow 9 month growing season!! emoticon Here in Michigan we only have 5-6 months to veggies. Your plans for preparing homemade goodness from your upcoming garden and dehydrating soup mixes sound souper!!! emoticon Looking forward to hearing what you plan to plant and how your garden grows this winter. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thank you for sharing your ideas for refocusing my attention away from binging at night. I will try and see what works for me. Your support here on the posts and activity feed really help!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Alpinedeb thank you for sharing how you make tomato leather for soup baee and put spices but no salt in your soup mix with dehydrated veggies. Im thinking about getting a dehydrator because dehydrated would take less storage room in the freezer. Your hot water thermos soup sounds great!!!!

You are doing souper ;-) with salads. Taking one small realistic doable step at a time sounds like you can really maintain your progress.

My focus on not binging feels like a huge difficult unrealistic unsustainable step. Like Sept2013 I sometimes wonder if I bit off more than I can chew. I also have fears that I won't succeed in mastering my habit of closing the kitchen and not eating after 6-7 pm. But I'm making progress with a three night streak of no binging. emoticon Combined with staying in my calorie range, 10 c water, 10 c freggies and over 8000 steps yesterday I feel great about my progress.

My acknowledgment and feeling of success builds my belief that I actually can do it. My dh pointed out that I've lost 6 pounds since the beginning of June this year. emoticon Weird how I've been so focused on one night at a time (ONAT) to not binge I didn't notice how much I had lost since committing to that strategy in June. My belief is getting stronger than my fear.

Thank you for being there to share. Your support helps me to keep on keeping on. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
