This group has been really quiet lately. Where is everyone?? On vacations? Marbeall I see your updates on your exercising, how is everything else going? Looks like you've found a few Sparkfriends that are close you can exercise and visit with. That is emoticon

CoolRain I can't wait for you to get your car tomorrow. I bet you are and hope you were able to get everything done with work that you needed to so that you can have a long, enjoyable weekend. I'm excited this new car is going to make it so you can do so many fun things, especially visiting your brother. emoticon I hope your DH is able to get his trip planned. I'm really ready for a trip of some sorts but that won't happen for a while.

Sept2014 how is your training going?? Can't wait to hear how it all turns out. Please check in if you can emoticon

I'm doing good. My boys start a Labor Day Tournament tomorrow, Friday and Monday. And my Dad made it home today from being in Florida for the last year. Can't wait to see them tomorrow. take care everyone!! emoticon emoticon

I'm happay about the money being here, but, do to being behind at work, the hold on the checks, and needing a ride to pay for and pick up the car, I have to wait till Friday. Still, I have peace of mind, after talking with the dealer, that the car will be waiting for me Friday morning at 10 am. Also happy my son has been able to work on my kitchen some more this week and will get me to the dealer on Friday, God willing and the creek don't rise. I'm taking Friday off, after I get the grant done that I'm writing, after the checks are done, after the golf fundraiser thank you letters are done--praying that all happens by Thursday at 5 pm. I should have wheels again by Friday 10 am. First, bill paying--its also pay day, then grocery shopping, etc. Sat. will be busy with cleaning out the garage--hope I can stand the heat. Then I'll have Sunday and Monday to recuperate before back to work on Tuesday. I may even do some fun things in my new wheels over those two days. Soooooo looking forward to being independent and free to go when and where I want to again. Have to save some money quickly to get DH to Ft. Lauderdale to see his father who turned 90 this year. Also looking forward to going to visit my wonderful brother at his gorgeous home across state asap. So relaxing there--in a woodsy, gated community, on a pond/small lake--depending on rainfall--where I love to go but haven't felt safe taking my beloved Maddie Miata for the last five years. Only got to go when other family members went, but now I'll be able to go whenever I want. What a great feeling! Can't wait for Friday to come! emoticon

Thanks for your encouragement, KimmyGA. Money didn't come in today, so looks like I'll be hitching a ride till mid-next week. I can't wait till life is back to "normal" and I'm not so stressed. Sorry you're having power problems. So thankful I've got a computer at home for a while at least. Makes Sparking so much easier. My best to you all. Here's hoping I get the money in tomorrow and it doesn't take too long to get new to me wheels.

Hello and happy Friday! Thanks for your message #Coolrain and glad to hear your great attitude about starting a new day and not let going over your calories ruin everything! There was I guess a big accident up by my house that knocked down a power pole down so I've had to come into the office today. Hope its up soon! emoticon Sure is harder to do this on a tablet then on a computer.
I hope you all have a fabulous day and weekend! Make the most of it and do something fun

So glad to hear from you guys. It really helps! Waiting for the money to come throurh from my life ins. policy to pay for the car, Went way over my calorie range for today, but I'm not discouraged. I'll just get back on track tomorrow--too late for today. Thank you for your support! It means sooooooo much!!!!!!!!!! Work has been stressful; our computer system has been down, so plenty of stress there as well as in my personal life. Went way over my calorie range today, but won't let that get me down. Will get back on everything tomorrow. KimmyGA. so gald you finally sold your home. Know that you'll rest easier now.

\Thank you Sept2014 for your encouragement too. I'm trying to sleep, but so far haven't gotten a good night's sleep. Once everything is dome, and the car is mine, things will get easier.

You guys are the ABSOLUTE GREATEST! So glad I found you guys! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Coolrain I'm sorry about the stress you've had with buying this new car. Hopefully now that it's done you'll be able to catch up on some needed sleep! I like Kia's. I wanted to buy the one bigger than the Sportage but couldn't find one. So I drive a Nissan Murano which I really like. I'm also glad you were able to keep your Miata in the family! That would be fun to work on her and get her fixed up. emoticon emoticon

Sept2014 I did sell my house!! Whew! Nothing like waiting until right before school starts. So now we get to drive my son to Jr High for a few weeks until we move. We went and registered him yesterday. That school is huge!! Hope that doesn't intimidate him. So now it's slowly starting the packing process. The buyer is actually coming tomorrow to do the inspection himself so we're trying to clean things up, with working and both boys having baseball games tonight. emoticon We close on the 17th of Sept and then move the 19th and 20th. So crazy to think and sad to know we're leaving great friends behind. We do have a friend around the corner who are looking over there now which would be great since that put a couple good friends within a couple houses of us and my youngest would have his best friend by us too.

We're missing our old Sparkfriends! Check in if you can ladies!! emoticon emoticon Hope everyone has a sparky day!!

Thinking of you COOLRAIN, it can be very tough to give up your favourite car, but good news is that it is still in the family and holds promise for the future if you can fix her up. Meanwhile, you will start to "trust" the new car to look after you and make new memories driving it. Please try hard to get some sleep, it is important for your health.

Kimmy, you sold the house! Yay for you! Is the one you wanted still on the market? How so is moving day?

MARBEAL, been out dancing??

Alpine Deb.... And the rest of the group..... Where are you???? What's up?

Short post. Exhausted as I haven't slept well for about a week being so stressed out over now vehicle, mourning the loss of my beloved "Maddie" Miata (18 years of companionship)--I feel like I've lost a beloved pet. Bought a Kia Sportage--new to me--with low mileage, but an automatic transmission. Since I've driven stick shifts for most of my adult life, getting used to an automatic is going to take some time. Had Maddie towed home tonight--it felt like bring home a deceased pet. I cried, some from going to miss her, and some from exhaustion. DH want to keep her until we can fix her up. In four years she'll be an antique, so, if DH can get a job after not working for years because of cancer, we hope to get her running again. Like my new-to-me Kia, but, not the same feelings I had when buying my Miata. Life changes, and we have to change with it. Hope to get some more sleep in the next few days. Hope all are doing well. emoticon

Hello all!! Happy Monday to you! emoticon It started out with a beautiful sunrise when I got up to do my walk/run. Did you see I said run!!! emoticon It's been feeling better more and more but at my dad's house Saturday while we were there cleaning it I needed something from my car so took a jog out there and was so happy it didn't hurt. So I'm going to try to start running a little more with my walks to incorporate that again! Start with Thursday. We took our kids to an amusement park for something fun before school starts next week, had 3 showings that night and went to one of my youth's wedding reception then to the temple with my nephew and family. Friday went to dinner with my childhood friends. It was fun, then Saturday cleaned my dad's house, went to my son's baseball game and lunch with some of my brother's. Then hung out at home that night. Oh ya let me not forget that Thursday night we got an offer on our house!!!!!!!!!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon We counter offered them on Friday, they countered us on Saturday and we accepted their offer! Oh what a relief!! I just hope it works. Had a friend who had 2 offers on her house and they both withdrew, so I'm a little leery.

So emoticon emoticon Sept2014 for your comment and for everyone's support and thoughts!! I'm glad to hear your wedding went well and how fun and exciting for your family! Sorry for the rain but glad to hear that wasn't going to stop it. And to have a new baby born just hours later is exciting too. A great day to remember for all involved! I'm so excited for you and your hard work with your training! You're going to ROCK this!!! emoticon emoticon

Marbeall emoticon on your 19,000 steps. That is so great! I love how you've connected with a Sparkfriend and get together to go walking. I am friends with her now too! You've really pushed yourself to do things for you. Did your DH go emoticon?? How's your brother? Looks like your no binge eating has been going pretty good! Keep that up emoticon emoticon

CoolRain what kind of cars did you go look at? Hopefully that can get decided so you aren't carless very much longer! emoticon One day I will own a brand new vehicle, I don't know what that's like but have had a few cars that I've owned that have reached 100,000. What a sad day but grateful I have it. I agree with Sept2014, we rely on them so much but in this day and age we need them.

Wish the others that used to come on this thread would stop by and let us know how they're doing!! We emoticon emoticon

Hope you all have a fabulous week! Grateful for you guys, your messages and support! emoticon emoticon

Hi spark friends!

Kimmy -any bites on the house? Even a nibble of interest? The housing market can be sooo competitive. There is a buyer for every property, you just have to be patient I guess. Hope your buyer shows up soon. emoticon

COOLRAIN, good luck on the car hunt. What a drag to be without one. They can become part of you can't they? I have been known to be slightly emotional saying goodbye to old ones but fall in love quickly with the replacement. emoticon

Speaking of love.... Family wedding update. Just before the ceremony it poured, requiring a quick change of venue from garden gazebo to indoors. No biggie, the wedding party simply walked an impromptu "aisle" between the guest tables and took their vows in front of the head table. It worked out fine. Pictures (quickly) in the overhang of the building and lots of laughs. emoticon Bridesmaid (grooms sister) was 9 mths pregnant; made the ceremony but delivered a girl a few hours later. It has been a crazy weekend!!!! emoticon

MARBEAL, keep on walking. Wow, 19000 is a ton of steps! Fantastic work. It is kind of you to share that I inspired you but really, it is hearing of the work everyone on this thread is doing that is inspirational. We are all at different places in our journey but can all learn from each other. Together, we can reach our goals. emoticon

Sept2014 best wishes to the bride. emoticon How exciting for you and your family!! emoticon emoticon

I can't run like you but I can walk. You've inspired me to keep pushing and ramp up my walking. I walked over 19,000 steps on Friday. emoticon Walked with two different friends. emoticon Parked a couple streets away and walked to see my brother. emoticon Walked several city blocks to go dancing that night. emoticon

Hang in there with your training. emoticon emoticon I'm rooting for you. You can do it this month. Good job getting support and focusing on your inner game. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Have butterflies in my tummy today.

Big excitement in the family as my niece is getting married on Saturday. We have a very small family and this is the first wedding in 20 years! Hoping for nice weather as the nuptials are scheduled to take place in a gazebo in a very beautiful 59 acre park. Lots of anticipation.

Also, the big BADASS Dash is now officially less than a month away. Getting nervous I will not be ready. Still doing my boot camp exercises and weight lifting and am ramping up the intensity. Running is still my downfall though. I spoke to a personal trainer I used to work with. After her questioning, I seem unable unable to pinpoint what makes me stop and walk after just 1/2 mile, it is just a mental hurdle. I can't say I actually LIKE running, but it is a big part of the obstacle course. Today I am going to the track again and focus on distance. Wish me luck.

Here is to everyone having a good day today...... Have to hurry up and get off to work. Putting in lots of hours (too many)? at this part time job. Supposed to be retired.....

Sept2014 thanks for writing a note so it got some responses on it. emoticon Our board has been kindof quiet. How's the training going?? I've thought a couple times that I should get on and send a message. Hope everyone is doing well.
AlpineDeb how are things going with you?? Thanks for dropping that quick note to us also. emoticon
Coolrain I'm sorry to hear about your car. Sounds like it had a long life and treated you well. But sorry for the inconvenience it is causing! Good luck car shopping emoticon Hope you find something soon so you don't have to ask people to take you places.

As far as me, not a lot is going on. I've had showings scheduled on my house every day this week and our agent says he is going to sale it this week. Keep your fingers crossed. emoticon Baseball practice has started up again and we start league play on Saturday. Which all my siblings here are planning on going to my dad's to clean up his house before they come home from being in Florida the last year. They are going on a cruise Saturday and then will start their drive home. My back is feeling better but still sore. Can't wait to be able to do stuff without little things causing me pain. I need to start encorporating weights and see how I do with that.
Hope you all have a fantastic day!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Marbeall, Jen, any others please check in and let us know how you're doing!!

Hi everyone. I've been out of touch for awhile. My car, "Maddie" (a 20 year old Miata that almost seems like a family member) broke down last week. It looks like it's going to be terminal. I'm in mourning--not to mention stressed to the max. She was my only car, so now I have to get a ride to work, walk to the store--about 2 1/2 miles away, get someone to help me get out to buy a car, and more. Everything becomes so complicated without a car. Will try to keep in touch as time allows. Hope all are doing fine. At least I'm getting some exercise. Sigh!

I like your response AlpineDeb! You can do it, we all can do it one pound at a time!! emoticon emoticon emoticon I just have to remind myself it didn't take overnight to get to where I'm at so loosing the weight won't be overnight (though it'd sure be nice if so) emoticon

Thanks, Kimmy, for the kind words. I'm picking myself up, dusting myself off, and moving on. I posted the offending picture to my sparkpage, because I decided that I just need to own who I am. And it's nice to see the happy faces of all my market friends.

I know that the only solution to not liking my size is to change it one pound at a time. There's not magic bullet. As long as I focus on one pound at a time, I'm okay. It's when I focus on how long it will take that I get discouraged.

AlpineDeb I'm sorry your friend is moving away! But the good thing is that you can always keep in touch. It might not be as easy as it was before but don't let a good friendship like that be ruined just because they moved. emoticon As far as your pity party I hope today is a new day and that your party is over! Just remember why you are part of Sparkpeople and this group! We're here to support you and will do what we can! emoticon emoticon You just need to evaluate things maybe and look at where you could maybe change something. Please let us know what we can do! emoticon Remember you are worth it! emoticon Congrats also on the great streak you had with those salads. Don't let 1 day missed get you down. Start again! emoticon Congrats on winning the gift card too. That is awesome, I never win anything

Hi everyone. Just a quick hello today.

The scale has continued to move incrementally downward, so I'm really pumped. It seems I finally have found the magic formula for my body: 45 mins or more of exercising everyday. Oh well. A few months ago that would have done me in to even think about, so it's a good thing I didn't know it then. As it is, I've worked up to that and am ready for it. What a difference for me--the "slug" though. Guess I have to quit referring to myself as a "slug."

AlpineDeb--Congrats on your win. I'd love to win $50 at our local health food store. Don't let that photo get you down. Instead, focus on what's going well and what you're doing right. I can't believe you ate salad everyday for as long as you did! That's impressive! Just start another streak. I know what you mean by the ambiguity of a new hair cut. It happens every time I get mine cut, so I haven't had it cut in a couple of years now. It's less frustrating, and cheaper too.

KimmyGA--I'm still crossing my fingers for your house sale.

Oh, I'm on Day 15 of my exercise streak, Me! I can't believe it!

Take care everyone.

Happy Sunday, everybody!

Kimmy, good for you on giving blood. And you have certainly been busy with soccer! Good luck with selling your house, sometimes that is a very frustrating endeavor.

Coolrain, congrats on moving into a new decade!

Sept2014, I'm really impressed with your activity level! You are meeting some great challenges!

Marbeal, Congrats on the 6 lb l;oss!

I'm feeling kind of down today. Some friends are moving away, and we're going to their hose for dinner, and I just don't want to say goodbye. I will really miss them. The wife is a vendor at the farmers market, so yesterday at the market we did a group photo, and it's a great photo, but I am so huge! I really feel disturbed when I look at that picture. Plus, I got my hair cut on Friday, and I'm not sure if I like it. So, I'm having all sorts of image issues. I'm trying to use that to spark myself. Oh, and I broke my salad streak yesterday. Pity party time!

On a happier note, I just won a $50 gift certificate to the local health food store in a raffle!

Okay, enough pity party, I'm off to do laundry and grocery shopping.

Sept2014 So great to hear your determination and know that with all you do that you will accomplish all you want to in life. This challenge your training for is mind boggling to me and I would love to see all that you do to try these different challenges. emoticon Keep your head high and know we're here to support you. Thanks for your kind words!

Coolrain 2 lbs is emoticon emoticon Keep up what you're doing, it's working. I thought of you and your time when I was on my walk this morning. If I had more time I would have extended my walk longer but didn't. I'm sorry you deal with a back injury too. I don't know how people deal with it and for so long. Sounds like it doesn't get you down so that is great to hear. I did go with my SIL last night and got fitted for shoes. I've never done that before so it was interesting. I'm glad to know I was using the right brand but just needed a little different style. I had to jog for him so he could watch my feet and was that hard with my back. But I survived.

I just gave blood an hour ago emoticon I love being able to help people in little ways like that. It was great to be there as a support for a dear friend who has passed out the last 3 times she tried but made it today!!! I have to work late tonight emoticon but hope you all have a fabulous weekend! Take time for yourself, enjoy each day and know we're all cheering each other on!! emoticon We just lowered the price on our house today and are probably going to have an open house, so any good thoughts or vibes you could send my way is appreciated! Plus we put money down to secure the house we are wanting, since they're almost gone. emoticon emoticon

Happy Friday everyone!

KimmyGA1, so glad to see you back. emoticon I've missed you. Congrats to your sons on their third place win (and to you for all the driving and supporting and for healthy lunches and lots of water). emoticon Now I understand where you were--pretty busy. Sorry to hear about your back. I can relate as I've had back problems ever since a guy jumped on a diving board I was hanging onto in the pool--back when I was 18 (we won't go into how many years ago that was). I'm glad to hear you were able to get some relief. I'm sorry to hear your house hasn't sold. I know you were hoping to move before school starts. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the right person finds you soon.

Sept2014--I am blown away by your training routine. emoticon Wow! I can NOT imagine running a 4.5 mile race. But I have to admit, I'm starting to think maybe someday. I'm doing so much more than I thought I could do 6 months ago, so I'm open to the possibility. Maybe when it cools down I'll give it a go--slowly.

Marbeall--Congrats on the 6 pound loss, and especially on the 5 nights streak you have going. emoticon emoticon emoticon I'm so proud of you. You go girl!

Oh--one more thing--I actually saw another .2 pound loss this morning which took me into the next set of 10s on the scale. I did a Happy Dance! emoticon emoticon I'm on day 12 of my exercising streak. emoticon

Well, I hope all of you have a wonderful weekend. Remember, we're all in this together. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi everyone, hope this note finds you happy and determined to keep reaching for your goals! You CAN do it you know.... I mean if your life depended on it, could you resist the treats or put in that extra bit of movement for the day? Of course we can right?? emoticon emoticon I have to ask myself how badly do I want it?

Alpinedeb and MARBEAL, thank you for your thoughts on my musings over being scared. I think you are very right, perhaps it is a fear of failure. Such a strange thing as I am generally a strong, confident type of person with an ability to quickly weed through the "crap", reach an intelligent conclusion and move forward quickly with a willingness to work very hard for what I want. I am blessed to say that success (or luck) seems to appear. Or, perhaps it does not occur to me that something is not successful - rather that it just needs a different approach. So, to identify an hidden insecurity within myself ithat I might fail is a new train of thought I need to explore further. Thank you for your support! I will figure it out!

So, I completed self-imposed test #2 on the day I was feeling particularly scared. Good news is that I met my push-up goal and held the plank for the length of time I had selected. Ok, the chin ups were a but shaky near the end and perhaps the form was beginning to fade, but I did 2 extra to make up for that.

Today I am going to get a run in as the race is 7 km (4.5 miles). I am practicing all types emoticon of weird moves to prepare for the obstacles ii will be encountering -you would laugh to see me. I am certain I look silly but don't care! Trying to simulate crawling along the ground really low as I will need to go under lengths of fencing and through tunnels. Am working on climbing and jumping obstacles and really want to figure out how to simulate climbing over a brick wall. Might just go to a children's playground and try out the monkey bars......

It is so good to hear of everyone's progress. COOLRAIN, your 20 is impressive. Way to go!
emoticon emoticon

Alpinedeb, I don't have a dehydrator, but your ideas are terrific, I do a lot if freezing of fresh fruits and veggies. While I can purchase all of them in the dead of winter, having ripened on a truck while en route, they just don't taste as good as fresh and local does.

Kimmy, I sure am glad your back is feeling a bit better and hope that every day shows even more improvement. emoticon

MARBEAL, yay for 6 lbs.! You are staying focused and I like your idea of closing the kitchen for the night and doing other things to keep you occupied. Well done!

Spark friends, you are all awesome, and everyone is working so hard to reach their goals. Thanks to each of you for sharing your ideas, successes and challenges. We are in this together and I appreciate the support. emoticon emoticon

Have a great day'!!!!!!

Hello my Sparkfriends!!!! I've emoticon guys and sorry I haven't checked in for a while. Last week was such a blur. I had to drive at least 45 minutes every day up to where my son's tournament was at. The first day was a skills competition with 4 different areas and both the 10U and 12U (10 year old and 12 year old) teams took 2nd place and got a trophy. We started off not so good with losing our first 2 games and then won our next game. That put us as the 14th seed out of 26 teams. I ended up driving this canyon 6 times (Monday-Saturday) I was pretty sick of it. But on championship day we were in the loser bracket and had a come back win on our first game, won our next game and then lost the game after that against the team we lost to first off putting us in the losers bracket. They were from California and had played together since they were 5. Our team had only practiced together for 2 weeks before this tournament. So we ended up with a 3rd place finish!!! emoticon emoticon so that was pretty exciting. Went further than any of the other Utah teams. But it made for a long week but so proud of them and their efforts! During that time we celebrated that son's 11th birthday. emoticon so a great week for him. I didn't get a lot of exercising in that week but tried to hit at least my 6000 steps. I brought lunch for us so we didn't eat out and hit my water intake most days. The downside is my back is still having major muscle issues. The chiropractor just said to keep doing these stretches but was getting frustrated since the only exercise I could do was walk and even that hurt. Ended up taking my oldest son in for a scout physical on Tuesday and was talking to my Dr about my back and he gave me a prescription for a muscle relaxer and then offered a shot to put right in my back. I did that and by the next day it is doing so much better. emoticon I don't feel as old as I had been. My right side is still sore but tolerable. Still can't run and stuff but maybe it'll get to that point soon! I went to volleyball last night and that was kindof hard, still sore but better than the last time I played. So that's me in a nutshell. Oh ya no luck on the house emoticon Every other house around us has sold, even some new ones in just a matter of days. We're getting frustrated and wonder if this is what we're really supposed to be doing. School starts in just over 3 weeks so looks like we'll at least be starting in our same school for my oldest emoticon So time shall tell

I have read all your posts and it was good to catch up with you guys, seeing what you've been working on, your challenges, motivation and support to one another.

Marbeall I'm so glad to hear your brother is doing better, is out of the hospital and on the road to recovery. I'm sure that is a relief to you. Congrats on the 6 lb loss too. I love you are staying accountable for what you do and eat every day. Keep it up. Your binges have minimized but it's just a work in progress. emoticon Can't wait for you to get out there dancing even more and improving your health and wellness even more.I really like that information from that article and plan on reading it more. That is a good reminder to me especially! I'm glad you and your DH were able to get away too. Sounds nice and relaxing.

Coolrain emoticon on your 20 lb weight loss! What an accomplishment! I hear you that probably with long exercising that is what is helping. Sometimes it's hard to put that much time in. I know I've gotten more lazy this summer since I don't have to wake up as early but still I only put in my 30 minutes. I should try to put in more, especially since I've had a little bit of a gain. Keep up with what you're doing and you'll see results! emoticon

Sept2014 great job on your training and sorry to hear you were down for a bit. What surgery did you have? I admire you for your determination to complete this challenge and know you'll do emoticon !!

AlpineDeb way to go with dehydrating stuff and trying to make things more healthy. I have my dehydrator in storage emoticon but love when I can to dry fruit. I don't think about veggies as much but should. My DH was given a bunch of squash and zucchini from one of his jobs he did. I should consider drying some of it. Glad you were able to get away even if it was for work and hope you've caught up on needed rest. I know I could sure use a get away where I don't have to worry about anything emoticon

You are all so wonderful and I've enjoyed your encouragement, motivation, support and friendship. Let's keep working on become healthier and happier!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi Spark Friends.

I'm still Streakin'. Day eleven. 30 mins so far today; I'm getting in about an hour most days now, but my streak is for 30 mins. a day. I posted a couple of motivational sayings where I can't miss them, like above the TV; "Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes" was one. They remind me to MOVE more! It's working!

Now I'm getting messages that I may need to eat more since I'm exercising more. Sigh. I'm gonna' stick with what I'm doing for a couple of weeks and see what happens with my weight before I change anything else.

AlpineDeb--Congrats on your lost pound! emoticon emoticon emoticon (I think I found it though. emoticon ) My weight just seems to go up and down a pound more or less over and over before I actually keep off a pound. So frustrating! Thus the exercise streak. Hope it works.

Everyone have a great day. emoticon

Coolrain and Marbeall--this is a great conversation about motivation and streaks. You are both inspiring me.

I lost a pound this week! My mantra all week was, "Will this help me lose a pound this week?" and it worked!

AlpineDeb--thanks for sharing your dehydrating ideas. I'm going to definitely do more dehydrating. I just love the idea of having a quick broth mix as the base of a quick soup. And the dehydrated tomato puree sounds like a great idea. Can't wait to get started.

Marbeall--Thanks for your encouragement. I got in 85 minutes of exercise yesterday and so far have 45 today. I'll do another 15 mins. at least once more today. You're right. It is becoming a habit. And today was Day 10 of my streak! That's helping me stay motivated. Unfortunately, the local group of Sparkers is inactive. The next closest one is really heavy into racing, and since I haven't worked up to running/jogging yet, I haven't gotten involved yet. I am thinking about maybe working into some running/jogging once it cools down. I like the idea of a 5K. I'm finding that pushing myself and seeing that I can do more as I go along is also motivating. A few months ago, I'd never have believed I would exercise as much as I am now. Ahhh, the Beach Boys. emoticon I grew up with their music, and since I live about 5 mins. from the Gulf, their music was extra special. I've been to a couple of their concerts. Yeah, they make me want to move. emoticon
Can't wait for cooler weather and getting my garden going. I'm checking out what varieties will do well here and when. This will be my first real garden. emoticon In the past I've grown a few things here and there, but mostly in containers. My DH and I were starting to garden more when he was diagnosed with cancer. That kinda' put the gardening (and most other things) on hold. But he's doing well, has regained his strength, so we're reading to try again. I'm crossing my fingers.
Thank you all for your support. You're the greatest! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Coolrain welcome back!!! Congrats on achieving you interim weight loss goal of 20 pounds!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon
emoticon
Taking doable steps is making you a success!!!! Congrats on creating a spark notebook and getting your exercise in. I saw the progress you've been tracking on the activity feed. emoticon emoticon

I believe you will find out how to maintain 45 minutes of daily exercise because you are already building a habit of exercising. In addition you are thinking about motivational rewards. emoticon

Music helps motivate. emoticon Maybe load up some of the beach boys or some other songs emoticon emoticon you mentioned in your blog about getting to know each other. Activity buddies can motivate with social reward and external accountability. emoticon

Dancing motivated me in those ways. emoticon I met a spark friend in real life yesterday for the first time and we had great fun walking at lunch time. Do you have a spark group for your city?

Breaking 45 minutes into three 15 minute. Keeping track with stickers on a nicely decorated chart in your new spark notebook. Is there a physical activity or sport you want to get better at? emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Hope these ideas help. Looking forward to hearing what you discover works best to motivate you.

Wow 9 month growing season!! emoticon Here in Michigan we only have 5-6 months to veggies. Your plans for preparing homemade goodness from your upcoming garden and dehydrating soup mixes sound souper!!! emoticon Looking forward to hearing what you plan to plant and how your garden grows this winter. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thank you for sharing your ideas for refocusing my attention away from binging at night. I will try and see what works for me. Your support here on the posts and activity feed really help!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Alpinedeb thank you for sharing how you make tomato leather for soup baee and put spices but no salt in your soup mix with dehydrated veggies. Im thinking about getting a dehydrator because dehydrated would take less storage room in the freezer. Your hot water thermos soup sounds great!!!!

You are doing souper ;-) with salads. Taking one small realistic doable step at a time sounds like you can really maintain your progress.

My focus on not binging feels like a huge difficult unrealistic unsustainable step. Like Sept2013 I sometimes wonder if I bit off more than I can chew. I also have fears that I won't succeed in mastering my habit of closing the kitchen and not eating after 6-7 pm. But I'm making progress with a three night streak of no binging. emoticon Combined with staying in my calorie range, 10 c water, 10 c freggies and over 8000 steps yesterday I feel great about my progress.

My acknowledgment and feeling of success builds my belief that I actually can do it. My dh pointed out that I've lost 6 pounds since the beginning of June this year. emoticon Weird how I've been so focused on one night at a time (ONAT) to not binge I didn't notice how much I had lost since committing to that strategy in June. My belief is getting stronger than my fear.

Thank you for being there to share. Your support helps me to keep on keeping on. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I don't really use recipes for the dehydrated soups, although there are tons of dehydrator cookbooks out there.

I just dehydrate whatever produce is in abundance at the moment and then store it in ziplock bags or mason jars. I live in a desert, so I don't have to worry about humidity rehydrating it (you can keep it in the freezer if you live in a soggy climate). A lot of it I use by just throwing a handful of dehydrated veggies into whatever soup I'm making, and letting it rehydrate as the soup simmers. It makes a nice broth.

For the soup mixes, I dehydrate pureed tomatoes spread thinly on a piece of parchment paper. I tear that up into pieces, and mix a couple of square inches with whatever dried veggies and herbs sound good. Then I simmer it in water or put it in a thermos, fill it with boiling water and take it to work for a nice lunch.

Hi everyone. I didn't get to check in yesterday because I had the day off, and still no home computer. But I used the time to put together a Spark Notebook. I have a section for motivation, one for exercise, a whole bunch for recipes, and a few more for other Sparkling things.

Marbeal, great going on your streak and finding ways to combat the urge to eat. As I read one of your posts, you mentioned reading to keep from eating at night. Just wondered if you'd ever tried something like knitting, crocheting, embroidering, painting, or anything that keeps your hands busy. That helps me sometimes--if my hands are busy, I can't be stuffing food into my mouth. Also thought that hard, sugar-free candy (to suck on) or sugar-free gum (to chew on) might help satisfy the urge. Just some thoughts.

Sept2014--Please share some of your dehydrated veggie/soup mixes recipes. You can email me, but I bet others would like to know more too. I have a dehydrator, but I don't have many ideas on how to use it. Did dehydrate some tomatoes when the local produce market had them for $.39/pound. We bought 50 pounds and canned and dehydrated and roasted for three days. I had to take off a day from work to get them done, but we've really enjoyed the homemade goodness. I'd love to make some soup mixes. And I'm hoping to get my garden up and running by September. I wanted to start this month, but it's just to hot and humid to spend much time outside now--in the 90s and, I swear, what feels like 400% humidity. But if I can get my garden ready in August and going by September, I'll have about nine months of gardening. Here's hoping!

Over the weekend, I hit my interim goal of 20 pounds lost. It's coming off so slowly, but it's coming off. I've figured out that for me to lose, I really need to make a regular habit of exercising for 45 minutes a day. So, I'm now on day 9 of my new exercising streak. I have to sit down and figure out how and when I'm going to reward myself so I'll be motivated to keep it up. Any suggestions?

Take care everyone. emoticon to you all!

Sept2014, I also appreciate your thoughts. I'm doing great on the salad thing, but other than that, I'm just kind of drifting. I need to take stock and move forward.

Marbeal--I add the spices but not the salt. If it needs salt, I can add it when it's done. I make tomato leather (just like fruit roll ups, but with pureed tomatoes) for the soup base.

Sept2014 so good to hear from you. I like what you wrote about staying positive, focused and enjoying humour Not preachy at all. emoticon emoticon These are important messages that I too keep telling myself by reading them and posting them. Helps support and motivate.

I'm no psychologist but I get the feelings and thoughts you're sharing. Sounds like you've identified a fear of failure amongst all the other positive messages. I believe that when I say, write, hear or read positive messages, like the one you wrote, I am programming my psyche to succeed. I've found that feeling/ facing the fear to acknowledge it then refocusing to visualize success helps. It helps me while doing it one small step at a time as a way to keep on keeping on. I also discovered that sharing the feeling like you are doing and getting support helps too. emoticon

Sounds like you have found your own ways to keep on keeping on as well. You've already achieved an impressive amount of progress. emoticon You are awesome!! I believe that you can and WILL do it. I'm rooting for you. emoticon Good luck on your tests. Looking forward to hearing how they go and how you dealt with your inner game as well. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Alpinedeb sounds like you've got a great system for processing healthy produce for your salads and soups. Never thought of dehydrating veges for soup mixes. Do you put the spices in the mix or wait til you make the soup?

I have a 2 no binge night streak going. Went to bed hungry last night again. Working on a third ONAT tonight. Last night, Monday I had 10 freggies 10c water AND stayed in calorie range. Was hungry when I went to bed and when I woke up this morning. I think my stomach will need some time to get used to no food after 6 or 7pm. Last night I ignored my stomach and refocused on getting more steps doing laundry in the basement and vacuuming upstairs to stay away from the kitchen. My Monday steps were below my average. And my average steps need boosting too.

Today's plan: I will meet with a new spark friend and go for a walk. Will Premeasure freggies and water and lean protein. Will Clean and close kitchen at 6 pm. Do laundry in basement and more vacuuming then settle down early to read and spark.

I am realizing how much I need external accountability to help motivate me to action and stick to my commitment. Thank you so much for your support. :-) emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi fellow Sparkers!

Have been following your posts over the last few days but did not get a chance to comment. It is so great to hear of the work and accomplishments of everyone. Salad consistency, and stepping away from evening binging, baseball and home selling, kids and spouses; life impacts us all. The important thing is how we chose to deal with it. Keeping our focus, staying positive and seeing the humour in every situation can only help right? Don't want to sound "preachy", this is more of what I try to remind myself.

Today is my second self imposed "test day" at the gym to see if I remain on track to be ready for the race in September. This test will be plenty hard enough - but in 10 days or so comes test #3 which will really test my personal ability. Kinda scared of it. Why did I set such a crazy personal goal? I must believe that if I work hard enough and eat properly enough, I can do it.

Just have to figure out how to make sure life's curve balls do not get in my way. Can I really get up at dawn to go running ? Am I really willing to work all day and then hit the gym for weights? Can I resist the quick peanut butter and jam sandwich and take the time to make sure I have veggies on hand? Yes, I can, but will I?

Anyone know why this should be so scary?

Caramelized onions on kale, now that sounds good.

I have an Ex Caliber food dryer, and I love it. It has 9 trays and the fan in the back. I use it frequently to dry all sorts of fruits and veggies. I make my own soup mixes, too.

I'm drying yellow bulb onions before they start to go bad.

Have an awesome day!

Alpinedeb I agree emoticon emoticon Better than donuts! Thank you for turning that one into a positive. So far so good. I'm in my calorie range. Had 10 c water, 5 servings freggies (need to grocery shop) and 4 oz. of Cod. I cleaned the kitchen and "closed it down" at 6 pm.

Glad you are rested from your trip. I'm looking forward to getting extra rest tonight (instead if binging) to recover from all the driving. Before setting in upstairs, I will walk now that the thunderstorms are past.

Hmm dehydrated onion salad topping... I like caramelized onions on my kale... Do you need special equipment to dehydrate your onions? Green scallions or sweet?

Thank you emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Well, Marbeall, it's better to binge on brown rice and kale than on doughnuts. So at least there's that!

I slept until 9:45 this morning and finally feel rested after my trip. Today I'll be cleaning house and dehydrating onions (they make tasty healthy salad toppings) and getting ready for the week.

I'm going to have to try the Dijon dressing. It sounds good.

Alpinedeb thank you for the welcome back and your support. You are doing great with a salad a day. Saturday evening I had massaged kale from my garden with chef Megan's Dijon dressing. It was very tasty. emoticon Thank you for mentioning the kale salad a couple posts ago. emoticon emoticon emoticon I am so grateful for sparkpeople.

Yesterday Saturday I had 10 c water 8 c freggies lean protein, got over 5200 steps, was in calorie range for day but binged on brown rice and kale in the evening. We had company and we finished dinner late around 8 pm.

Sunday plan is to finish mowing the lawn, walk and dance to get 10,000 steps. I will premeasure 10 c water, 10 c freggies, 4 oz lean protein, stay in cal range. We will have a normal schedule so I can close the kitchen at 6 pm and go dancing in the evening. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Kimmy hope you had fun celebrating your sons birthday. Bet they all are having a blast playing baseball. emoticon How is your back? Is the soreness going away? Hope you are able to keep making progress in spite of your back.

Did you have more house showings? Any offers?

Thank you for your support on my activity feed. Missing your upbeat posts. Looking forward to hearing how you are doing. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Alpinedeb welcome back from your travels. Congrats in having a salad everyday! emoticon emoticon emoticon I saw a recipe for massaged kale salad with chef mega Dijon garlic dressing. Will be trying it soon!

I'm also back from a couple days of travel. My dh and I decided at the spur of the moment to go on a 2.5 day vacation. It was difficult to spark with limited online access and loads of activities. Had great sunsets, walks in woods, live music, art shows, and delicious meals.

Driving up Wednesday and and back on Friday I only got a half hour walking but on Thursday did over 14,000 steps up and down steep paths in the woods near babbling brooks and falls. Ahhhh!!! Deeply enjoyed every lovely step!!!!

Didn't binge at night but went way over my calorie range last three days. Must mow lawn and weed today so will get many makeup steps for yesterday. Now it's back to pre planned, pre-measured cups of water, freggies and low fat proteins!!

Congrats once again in achieving your salad a day even while traveling!!! Thank you for your support and encouragement. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Coolrain, it's great to see your post. Thank you for your support and encouragement! Wow 22 moves in 20 years is a lot of stress! Sounds like you got good at flipping houses. Hope you are doing well getting your goals. You can do it. I see your exercises on the feed. You are doing it!! emoticon emoticon

I am learning and practicing ways to build and maintain positive energy. It definitely doesn't include beating myself up but it is an old self defeating habit thats hard to break. So I stay watchful and try to redirect my thoughts to the healthy habits I'm creating and maintaining. Works most times. I feel so grateful for your wonderful sp support. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hello, everybody. Just a quick check-in. I'm just back from a conference in Dallas, and I'm exhausted. I did keep up my salad streak, though, and today will be Day 30!

Hi Friends. Just checking in quickly. Marbeall, do NOT beat yourself up. You are doing so well, and I'm proud of you. When things don't go the way you planned, you pick yourself up and start again. That takes tenacity, perseverance, and a whole lot of smarts, if you ask me. Way to go! I believe in you! emoticon emoticon

KimmyGA, any bites on your house yet? I've been there and done that. My ex and I used to build and sell, and between that and the Air Force (only four years), we moved 22 times in 20 years. I empathize. I hope you sell before school starts too. That would definitely be easier.

Everyone--have a great Sparked day. emoticon

Hello all my spark friends,
Thank you for your support with your posts here and on my activity feed. You all keep me going by acknowledging my efforts and providing positive support. I am grateful for all of you. emoticon emoticon

Today I really need to focus on every Tiny thing I did right to keep from beating myself up about last nights Tuesdays binge. Yesterday I had 10 c water 10c freggies upped my steps from about 3000 Monday to about 8000 Tuesday. I walked twice. Did a couple things I was procrastinating on. Tossed some clutter. Enjoyed a movie called "Vows" based on a true story of a couple who marry, car crash, wife loses memory. The husband tries to get her to fall In love with him all over again. Really enjoyed it.

I am focusing on all the positives so I have energy to maintain my healthy day habits and make my ONAT happen tonight. I will close the kitchen at 6 pm, walk outside 30 minutes, weed my flower garden and enjoy the colors and fragrances then shower to gear down to read my "women food and God" book by Roth, review today's successes, relax with head to toe meditation and get better sleep.

Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't been around much lately. Not having a working computer at home is the pits.

Read some of the posts, though, and am proud of you all for keeping on keeping on. That's what I'm trying to do. Got in two walks so far today. Maybe I'll get in one more if I can. Still haven't hit the 20 pound down mark yet--I've been six tenths of a pound away, then 1.2, then .8, then 1.4, and on and on and on. Maybe if I pump up the exercise some more that will help. I haven't been pushing as hard as I could. But I'm not giving up. This has just become a way of life. If I miss a day or can't track (like every weekend), I don't let it throw me for a loop. I just keep on going. You guys have taught me not to give up. Thank you all for that!

Have a great day! Will try to check in again real soon. emoticon to you all!

Ouch! Sorry to hear the aftermath of your surgery was so brutal! emoticon Glad you took it easy so you could do more when it was the right time for you. emoticon

Congrats on getting back to running and squats today. emoticon Painting the porch and hand washing and waxing the car will be great upper body work out. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thank you for serving as inspiration by setting the bar high. I am inspired to gradually push
my ballroom dancing into the dance sport category as I lose more weight and gain more strength and stamina. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

You deserve all the support in the world. All of us, we the Sparkpeople do! Keep going! You are on a roll.

Just back at training the past few days as the surgery laid me flatter than expected. My face was so swollen and bruised you might have mistaken me for a beating victim or car accident. Ug. I decided (no brainer) that doing push-ups, mountain climbers and chin ups in that condition might not be such a good idea so I laid low. Happily, I just returned from a session of running and various squats and such; after a shower will get on with the day. My goal today is to paint a porch, and wash and hand wax my car.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

It's Monday night and I did not binge. 3 day streak so far. Feel antsy tonight but am using sheer willpower to keep going back upstairs again and again. Will read another chapter of "women food and God" by Roth.

Things I did right today. 10 c freggies, 10 c water, no night binge, in calorie range for today, ate healthy. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi everyone, found this great article by a recommendation from odat1117 and the first item reads; "I believe that I can do it. I am responsible for—and in control of—my destiny, and I am fully committed to getting there. I have a clear vision of how I want to live my life: healthy, vibrant, thin and active. I strongly believe in the possibility and the permanence of that vision, and I am confident that I am capable of achieving it. Exercise and eating healthy aren't things I do when it's convenient; they are what I have decided to do no matter what. I recognize my results are dependent on my own actions—not other people's or outside circumstances."

Take the 2 minutes to read the article. It's worth it!!

Hello Ladies!!! emoticon Thought I'd better do a quick check in on this fine Saturday! This week has been a little off since I was off Thursday because I am working right now. emoticon I really hate working Saturday's and especially when there is so much going on. After I get off we're having an Open House, so send the vibes that someone wants to buy it! Really would love it sold before school starts in a month. Went on a nice bike ride. emoticon 13 miles this morning. Haven't gone on one since our 50 mile one. It worries me to go because my back is still so messed up but luckily it doesn't hurt until I get off since it's been stuck in the same position for an hour. Happy Day! Yes is was a Pioneer Trek I went on and it is amazing at how tough they were. I am definitely not cut out to be one.

Marbeall thanks for your posts along with AlpineDeb and Sept2014. I read the posts the other day but didn't go re-read them again. Sorry! emoticon Hope you're all having a fabulous week-end!!

Alpinedeb thank you for your consistent and supportive encouragement. emoticon Congratulations on maintaining and not gaining weight. emoticon Great streak gong with those salads. emoticon Hope you are able to find yummy nutritious restaurant salads next week when you are at your training in Dallas. Hope you enjoy your trip and training.

I'm enjoyed my fresh kale and basil and my first tomatoe from the garden. Friday I walked over 14,400. That helps boost my low average 5000 steps this week. I also stayed in my daily calorie budget but ate after 7 pm. So I will start a new no binge streak tonight Saturday.

Thank you Alpinedeb. emoticon I am grateful for your support. You are awesome. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

You did great, Marbeal!l--it would have been so easy to let that slide into an all-evening binge, but you pulled yourself out. I think that is a huge accomplishment, and you should pat yourself on the back for it.

My weight isn't changing, but at least it's not going up. I have a training session in Dallas next week, so I will have to eat in restaurants. I'm planning on lots of salad.

Hello everyone, hope you are all outside enjoying a healthy happy summer. Thank you for your consistent support posting here in addition to liking my activities on my friend feed. Coolrain and Kimmy congrats on getting your exercise.you are doing it! emoticon emoticon Alpinedeb congrats on getting your walk in and daily salads. emoticon Jen been missing you. Hope to hear from you. emoticon

I did not binge last night BUT I did binge late afternoon a day long workshop on 3 cookies, one donut, potato chips instead of fixing dinner when I got home. My decision to overdose on high sugar low nutrition pushed me way over my daily calorie budget.

I'm owning the afternoon binge but I am counting Thursday in my streak this week. Here's why:
I give myself credit for 1. not beating myself up, 2. switching over to baby carrots and diced cantalope when I got home, 3. stopping eating by 6:30pm.

My July focus is "not binging in the evening" with a plan to stop eating for the day by 6-7pm. I followed that plan and in fairness I need to acknowledge my success. I realize that in the past, the afternoon binge would morph into an all evening binge. I did not let that happen. I am targeting night binges because that used to be my most consistent eating habit. Now I stop eating at 6-7pm more often than I binge at night. I'm turning turning this healthy behavior into a life time habit with ONAT (one night at a time). 3 night streak and counting. I'm doing it ! emoticon

So grateful for your support thank you. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Alpinedeb, nice work building your steps slowly. emoticon emoticon Glad you are gradually increasing your exercise in a healthy sustainable way. How do you like your new activity tracker?

Congrats on your 20 day salad streak! emoticon emoticon I tried your garlic kale idea. I used fresh crushed garlic buds and freshly picked organic kale from my garden. Something really satisfying about eating live food that you've nurtured and grown and picked minutes before preparing it. Yummy! Any more fresh ideas?

External accountability and encouragement really make a difference in my progress. Thank you for helping me stay positive with your support and sharing creative and new ideas. Keep on keeping on. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon 20 salad day steak emoticon

Kimmy it's great to hear from you again. emoticon Congratulations to your boys for their baseball successes. emoticon Glad the new teams are getting set and your middle son can experience the triple crown series. Hope he has a great 11th Birthday.

Wow 40,,000 steps and 18 miles!!! emoticon Pushing hand carts in sand and rocks and rain!!! emoticon Congratulations on such a feat!!! Good thing you have built up a lot of training!!! It's amazing how you have built up that much endurance. You and your husband went through a grueling 3 days!!! Congratulations on surviving it all!!! emoticon emoticon

Thank you for your support and encouragement on my no night binge streak. It's been hard lately. The external accountability here on this post is helping me stay positive so I can build another streak. One night at a time. emoticon Went dancing a couple nights. It's great fun exercise. Still maintaining 10 waters, and fregies every day.

Trying not to stress about my brother but I binged again last night. He has been in the hospital for over a week. I had to take him out of Hospice so he could receive emergency acute care for a medical emergency not related to his terminal illness. Thank you for asking about him.

Together we can do it. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

HI, everybody!

Kimmyga1, I have read about the Mormon pioneers in my history classes, and I am so impressed with what they accomplished. It must have been really something to travel in their footsteps.

It sounds like your boys are really into baseball!

I have been doing well with steps, building slowly. And I have eaten a salad every day for 20 days now.

Hello my Sparkfriends!!! Holy cow how fast time is moving lately. I appreciate catching up with all of you and want to emoticon Jams2014!! You've picked a great group! Way to start moving with your Spark Activity Tracker. What are your goals, tell us about yourself and keep checking in with us! We're a great group that helps support each other!

Quick update on me lately. Thanks for all the questions about baseball too. My older son made it to Championship day for our Firecracker tournament and was actually the #1 seed by the flip of a coin and lost his first game. But won all 4 of his game before that and only allowed 3 runs out of those 4 games. They've played so well together and this was our last tournament before we lose a couple of the boys to high school ball. emoticon My middle son after that tournament is officially done with his team. They have parted ways emoticon He's on a different team for fall and we've committed to another team already for next Spring. It's amazing to me how early they start doing that. He'll actually be playing with a couple of his old coaches. He's been asked to play on a team for the Triple Crown World Series here in Park City, Utah where teams come from different states to compete. So it'll be a good experience for him and hope they have fun. That starts next Monday on his 11th birthday. Then with all of that my DH and I had been preparing to go on a Pioneer Trek with some of the youth in our ward. We left last Thursday morning (early!) and came home late Saturday night. Both days of bus travel we had issues so ended up spending over 8 hours on the buses. But my fitbit tracked a lot. Friday I hit 40,000 steps and went almost 18 miles. emoticon Needless to say it was a great opportunity but one I don't look forward to doing for a while. emoticon Between pushing handcarts through sand and rocks for miles upon miles, rain and body soreness. So sorry for being MIA but I'm back and hope to be better about checking in!

Marbeall I'm so proud of you for doing so well with your no binge nights. Even with little slip ups you're still motivated to start a new streak. emoticon emoticon I love hearing you're working hard at getting those steps up and that you even went dancing. I hope things are ok with your brother.

Sept2014 I hope that the recovery on your dental surgery is going well! Ditto what Marbeall said about staying on top of your meds and hope you a speedy recovery! emoticon Your training sounds intense! emoticon Keep up the great work! I'm so excited to hear how it goes, you're going to ROCK IT!! I have a hard time weight training and can't wait for my back to quite hurting so I can do that more. I just never know what to do for that so should have someone show me. emoticon

AlpineDeb way to go parking further away to get those extra steps. Anything helps right? emoticon emoticon Hope the salad eating is going well!! Sorry about the small weight gain but keep up what you're doing. It's all just a matter of time! I haven't weighed in a while and am scared at what I'll see. But just keep working hard and doing what you know you should!

Jen we're missing you and hope all is well. Check in if you can! Can't wait to hear things are going well for you! We're here for you! emoticon

Thanks all you emoticon , have a fabulous day/night now that it's taken me all afternoon to write this! emoticon emoticon

Sept2014 glad you are feeling ok after your dental surgery. Make sure you take you meds on schedule to stay ahead of any possible pain break through. From experience I know how challenging it is to get the pain down once it begins to build up. Glad you into some humor about your cheeks. A great healing zone to be in. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I got 10,000 steps in yesterday emoticon Drank 10 cups water emoticon But binged last night 2nd night in row. Was doing really well for a one week streak of no night binge. I am getting get away from the tv and cleaning kitchen by 6 pm tonight. I am going to a dance tonight. Tonight is my opportunity to get back to no night binge streaking. Hello everyone, how are you all doing? Have not heard from anyone in the past few days emoticon but I trust you are all very busy being totally emoticon !!!

Am recovering from day dental /hone surgery and plan on taking it easy today, just a little walking. Feeling ok, just a tad tired. Left the hospital yesterday with huge chipmunk cheeks. Looks like I am participating in a marshmallow swallowing contest -kinda funny.

Here is hoping you all have a great day and I am sending my support and best wishes as you work toward achieving your goals. emoticon emoticon

Sept2014 congrats on your successful progress with training and passing your first test. emoticon emoticon Sounds like a rigorous regimen. emoticon Can't imagine being able to do what you are doing. Keep up the great work. emoticon You can do it. emoticon

I am doing well increasing my steps to average daily 8000 last couple weeks. So I am making solid progress to daily 10,000 goal once again. Although I binged last night stressing about my brother who just got out of ICU, Im feeling great about achieving a week long no night binge streak. I have lost two pounds in last two weeks. Actually gained a pound of muscle and lost 3 pounds of fat. emoticon Love that Withings scale. Im glad Sparkpeople recently partnered with Withings. Now I just need to figure out how to link my Withings scale readouts to auto upload into my Spark page.

Keep on keeping on. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

MARBEALL, how are the 10,000 steps progressing? You are awesome for keeping the focus on them and working to get them all in. I bet you will love the results. emoticon

Alpinedeb, with the endless variety of salad options, you vow I'll never run out of things for supper! I have been working on added a small side salad to meals in addition to the regular veggies I would normally serve. I think it foes help fill me up and provide additional nutrition.

Kimmy, so what happened at the baseball tourney? Did your boys win? emoticon

JENTHEPEN, September is coming soon, are you ready for your big trip to Scotland?

Happymenow, thinking of you.... What's up?

Things are progressing well on my Badass dash training plan. I mapped it all out on a calendar what I need to do daily to feel "ready" to participate in the race. Yesterday was a self imposed test day/milestone and I am happy to say I "passed,!

The training plan is basically a detailed list of various exercises, reps and sets to be completed. Yesterday I went to the track at the high school and did a series of extreme running bursts, push-ups, squats, etc, then drove to the gym to use the rowing machine and weight lifting. (Then I took my "test"). Today is a neighbourhood run as I work on endurance then some balance work on the bosu and finally work on those pesky chin ups. Tomorrow it is back to the track and the boot camp style workouts. July 25 th is my next "test day" and each is more extreme than the last. Must be ready.. Will be ready...

Kimmy Good luck for your sons baseball games. Great job walking in the morning and doing the hike. emoticon I am proud of you hanging in there achieving your 5k goals and participating in new challenges. emoticon

It is hard to start over training for running especially since the cough is still hanging on. Alternating rest with activity helps recovery. emoticon Your willingness to step up to the bat and keep on keeping on is amazing. Your motivation helps motivate me. emoticon

I am still working on trying to get back to my daily 10,000 steps. It was easier whenmy mall walk friend was more available. So now my dh helps me with shorter walks outside around the block. I got more steps last week ave. 8000 than the week before. Will walk with a friend around the high school track this afternoon. Tomorrow it's mowing the huge lawn which s always good for about 2500 steps.

Thank you emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Jams, I really like the Spark tracker a lot. It's so convenient to use, and I love that it automatically updates when I'm sitting at the computer. It was really motivating me to move more, but I got a little complacent this past week.

So, let's make those little lights flash together!

Alpinedeb sorry to hear about the small uptick. emoticon Yes you are right the tracker does need something to track. You are doing great with the salad. emoticon Keep it up! The kale carrot and beef salad sounds tasty. Will try it.

I binged on healthy food last night between 7-8 pm. Tonight is another opportunity to start a new no binge streak one no binge night at a time. Overall feeling good about my progress. emoticon Won't let last night binge stop me.

I am grateful for your support and sharing. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Up 0.2 today. I am reminding myself that the spark thingie is not a magic weight-loss talisman. Wearing it is not enough, I also have to exercise!

Sept2014 thank you for the information on Canada. I visited there probably 25 years ago. I also remember the beauty and lack of liter. I'd be curious to see your training schedule looks like. I'm good at getting my cardio in not so good about weights or strength training. You'll rock it and we'll keep checking in with you on your training. emoticon

Marbeal glad your brother is doing well and hope he continues to get better. Your motivation is great and I'm proud of you. Way to go with those no binge nights and hitting your other goals as well. My cough is still lingering and really bugging me. The hike wasn't bad either. I went walking this morning to. I haven't ran in over 3 Weeks due to my cold and now my back. I'll be starting over. emoticon

Alpinedeb great job on those homemade vinegrettes. My Dh doesn't like dressings or most condiments so its trying to find something he might like our he doesn't eat salads. You're doing great emoticon

I might not check in due to baseball but if I can I'll drop a quick note. emoticon emoticon

Hi, everyone!

Marbeal-I'm happy to hear that your brother is getting good support from hospice. And the music therapy sounds like a good idea. Congratulations on no binging during this rough time.

Sept2014--my DH and I visited Canada many years ago and were so impressed by it's beauty. We were also impressed by the lack of litter and vandalism. Thanks for the tofu tip. I have done that with tofu on my stir fry, but never my salad. It sounds good. You have 2 1/2 months to get ready for your race--start now and you'll get there.

Kimmy--I mostly use homemade vinaigrettes. This week, I took a couple of bunches of kale and massaged a tablespoon of sesame oil into it. Then I tossed it with grated beets and carrots and splashed it with balsamic vinegar. It's delicious.

Kimmy so sorry to hear you are in pain. emoticon It's hard to keep up the exercise when your back hurts. Glad you are staying active. Congrats on your three miles. Did you survive the hike? Hope you give your back time to heal. How is your cough? emoticon

Good luck to your boys in baseball. Hope your oldest is able to take in your view. Well said about playing hard. Winning is about more than just the score.

Thank you for asking about my brother. He is getting a lot more support in Hospice. The nurse sees him twice a week. He will get music therapy too. Trying to stay positive around him.

Staying active is helping me to destress and not binging at night is helping me sleep more without that full heavy feeling and disrupted metabolism. Making solid progress and feeling the awesome support. Thank you Kimmy! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
