I am proud of you for not staying off the wagon! emoticon

Portion control... UGH! I hate to think about it, but it is so important. Tracking also helped me too. Recently, I used some of my $20 credit for the SparkPeople Store to get the Portion Magnet. I was glad to get it. It helps to see what a portion really is. You can do this!

For me, portion control has always been the hardest thing to get a handle on. It certainly doesn't help that food has been "super-sized" as the norm. But the Nutrition Tracker, along with reading labels, has really helped so much in defining the correct amounts of food.

Way to go with having the tenacity to start again -- good luck to you!

aahhhh pasta. i look to a serving of pasta and i want to cry...just kidding, not, but i have learned to have veggies, plenty of veggies and the pasta seems ok. this evening at dinner my plate was overflowing. of course it was a salad plate, and i weighed and measured everything. it was awesome to see what seemed like a lot of food. portion distortion is right....

When I lost my 150 pounds, portions were key. I had become accustomed to eating so much that when I actually saw what a portion of pasta was I was shocked. It took some time, but I got it and you can too!

Portion control is a huge issue for me also. I was shocked by my portion distortion!!! I measure everything I put on my plate, use a smaller plate (side dish), eat slowly and purposely, and before I go back for seconds I sit for a few minutes, have a glass of water then decide if I am really still hungry. Most times I do not go for the second helping.

this is day six of what i like to call my back to basics. i was heading down the wrong road once again. i restarted my spark stages and i started fresh. so far so good, but i don't weigh in till tomorrow. no matter what the scales say i know i had a great week. i stuck to my points (ww) and i have gotten in my exercise. so i have to keep getting up and dusting off my butt, i will see this to the end no matter how long it takes, and believe me it is taking a long time.

Calloway,

It isn't how many times we fall that keep us from our goals, but how many times we fall never having the courage to get back up. And know you never have to walk this journey alone!

I wish you well!

I was amazed when I first started this journey about how distorted my view of portion size was. When I actually measured my food I really saw how far off I was. Now that I've been doing this a while I can look at something and know about how many ounces it is. Portion control is everything. I allow myself to eat what I want...sometimes it's just a bit or two though but I am satisfied.

Chef Meg's Roasted Beet Salad
Submitted By: CHEF_MEG

Beets are an underrated vegetable. They're sweet and flavorful. If you think you don't like them, try them in this recipe. Roasting brings out the beets' natural sweetness, and the feta offers a nice, salty contrast.
TIP: Buy your beets with the greens still attached--it's great way to check for freshness and the greens can be used for another recipe. Full Recipe
