The women's shelter is a great idea. Thanks for the suggestion.

I kept one pair for comparison.
A friend of mine organized a clothing swap about a year ago where several women brought in gently used clothing and took whatever they wanted. Whatever was left over was donated to goodwill.
Not only did I get rid of all my 'fat' clothes, I was able to get a start on a new wardrobe for free.

I give mine to our local thrift store, as soon as I fit a smaller size, which is also where I buy smaller clothes, as I need them. I don't keep a box of "fat" clothes, now that I'm done having babies. I still have some "skinny" clothes packed away, that I "shop" from, too.

Unfortunately I am still wearing them. I have lost 5 pounds but not enough to go to a smaller yet. I am working hard, so hopefully within the next 3 weeks I will be shopping for a smaller size.

I kept one pair of jeans as a reminder of how far I had come and donated the rest to a womens shelter.

I've been giving them to my friends and my sister. At first they didn't think that a size 14 or 16 would work for them, but they have all realized that maybe that is the size they are. I remember that shock I felt the first time I put on something that size and it fit! I cried because I was a size 4 up until I started college.

I am selling mine on ebay, my clothes are in awesome shape and I have been making $100-$150 a week on selling them so far so that is my fund to buy new clothes when I get to goal.
What doesnt sell will be donated. I am not keeping my fatter clothes-no way. I have one or two favorite pieces I am going to attempt at getting taken in via alterations because I adore them but everything else goes.

Donate them! I found if I keep them, I always gain the weight back so I donate them to the salvation army, Goodwill or a local womens' shelter who could always use them.

I've always saved the "fat" clothes. But this time I'm planning on losing and staying slim!! So now I'm getting rid of stuff slowly. When it's nice stuff..goodwill, but sweats ooo I keep em. Nothing like a pair of oversized sweats to cozy up in, in the winter time!!

In the past I just folded them and put them on a shelf. Now that I've found Spark I know I'll never go back to them. So every time I put something on that's a little loose, I put it in a bag to take to the local women's shelter. When the closet is empty- I'm going Shopping!

Goodwill is a great idea, but if anyone has outgrown their work clothes, suits etc. Take them to your local womens shelter. They are given to women that are looking for jobs after a traumatic event forced them into the shelter.

i gave some to my boyfriend's mom - she was excited. i'll put some in my thrift sale next year. but i'm a bit of a seamstress so i'll be taking some of the pants and making them fit or turning them into new clothes, or bags and purses and things.

I also saved one pair of fat pants, but everything else went for yard sale. I took in well over $200.00 this summer wwith yard sales! I also do my shopping at the local Salvation Army store. Prices sure beat retail!

I say GET RID OF THEM! I lost 150 pounds and got rid of everything but 3 items. Before, when I had lost some weight I'd hang onto them "just in case" I gained back the weight. That last time I didn't have any fall-back clothes.
I donated the nicer ones and sold the others at a yard sale. Good riddance!!

All the wrecked stuff is being thrown out. The rest is clean and in good condition in my 'Fat Bag', ready to be given to the charity shop when I've reached my end goal. I may keep one pair of trousers to do the whole 'this is how big I was before' thing. But I want everything else gone.
I don't plan on going back to my previous weight and don't want to be reminded of how I was before - not to mention the clutter of having loads of clothes I won't be ever wearing again.

I gave away a lot of mine on the "free" section of Craigslist, a few things here and there to the Salvation Army store, and have kept a few big comfy sweaters for layering around the house (hey, I live in New England, and now that I'm thinner I'm COLD all the time!).

Gave them to the cancer foundation to sell for money to research, or to my 7th day adventist church to give to needy people.. School bags and shoes get sent to them as well, many kids never own a pair of shoes and with snakes and stuff.. If I can help one kids avoid being snake bited, so be it.. I sort out stuff with marks on it, or that is ripped.. They only get stuff I feel is perfect..

I was packing them all away to give to Goodwill. Since I never got around to going to Goodwill, they are all up in the attic. I don't like that they are up there because it means it is easy to get them back if I put on a few pounds. If they are gone and out of the house, I can never go back to them. Then I have to work harder to stay in a smaller size.

I had just bought a bunch of clothes, this summer, because everything I had was getting too small... but now there are some things I really like that are way too large and still pretty new. There is a lady at the Curves I go to that is retired and I know she sews allot. I am hoping she will let me hire her to take some things in. Other things I've already given to my Mom to take to her church. They collect and distribute clothes for the needy.

Good condition goes to Goodwill; not-so-good to the dumpster. Lately I've been thinking about sending them to my sister. She started working in a hospital kitchen, so she is following a nutrition plan and exercising -- and losing weight.

I donate them to Goodwill or Bottomless Closet. If you have business clothes in good condition and there is a Bottomless Closet in your area please consider this organization. It is set up for people getting back into the workforce. Our local group is always requesting larger sizes for recipients.
It's not what I did, but what I do next that sets the course for success.

I've established a weight range that I want to stay in. Clothes that fit in that range, I keep. I store those that I can't presently wear (upper or lower end of the range.
For those clothes that fall outside of that range, I donate them or give them away to friends.
Remember, that it's nice to update your clothes as styles change (a few pieces in your wardrobe will transcend time and style). The rest, if they don't fit, give them away, donate them, or sell them.
I held on to a few pieces that I recall being able to wear at my tiniest. Once I could fit into them again, I realized: they aren't stylish. :-)

I give all of my "fat clothes" to the goodwill as they become too big. That way I don't have the convenience of larger pants to wear if my weight starts creeping up again. I just have to keep working. I did keep one pair of pants however, the largest ones I have ever owned, to remind myself of how far I have come!

I just went through my closet and got rid of a bunch of stuff. Anything ragged or stained I threw out. Anything I was sick of or fugly I will take to Goodwill. The "good" clothes are currently boxed up. I have gone through the yo-yo thing a lot, so I am keeping the very best ones. After I maintain at goal for a year they will also go to Goodwill. I can't wait.

I lost 30lbs before I joined Spark People and as I drop sizes, I donate my big clothes to Goodwill. I get them out of my house right away like they are contaminated or something! Lol. I'm just so scare of growing back into them, that I don't keep them in my house.

I gave all mine away to Goodwill so I wouldn't conveniently have them around to "grow back into." In retrospect I wish I'd saved one piece or one outfit so that I could see the difference between now and then.

I have officially lost 70lbs as of this week! I have a pile of clothes in my room that are my BIG clothes. I kept one outfit, which I took "before" pictures in, so I can compare. I haven't decided yet what to do with them. I have thrown some away, the ones that had stains or holes, etc. I am thinking of taking them to a consignment shop and get a little cash.

As you have been losing weight, what are you doing with the clothes that you have gotten too small to wear? Some people burn them, sell them, give them away, or keep them. I'd like to hear what YOU are doing with yours!
