Thank you. One of my fears is that once I am thin I will no longer be the person that I am today. That others will no longer like me or they will look at me differently, that I will no longer even be liked. When I was younger, up until High School, I was thin. I wore a size 3-5 to my graduation, but I was not liked by my classmates. Then I went to college, got away from those schoolmates, put on the Freshman 15, but I was beginning to be liked. I have to stop worrying about what others will think in the future and do what is right for me NOW, TODAY!!!

Thank you for your post - I can totally relate and it's so nice to know that we are all in this together for our own reasons - but they are reasons we all can share. I'm in it for TODAY too. My healthy self is a ways down the road but we will all get there in time, today is what matters. Good luck to you!

I needed this concept put into my brain. I am struggling with ups and downs. I know that what you tell yourself and the way you think greatly affects the way you act. So, today it is for tomorrow never comes!

I am a mom of two boys, and one of my son's favorite movies is Kung Fu Panda. There is a line in that movie that is so true: "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift...that's why they call it the present." These words are great for those of us who are getting fit. If you messed up yesterday, forget about it and move on. But, don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today because who knows what tomorrow will bring. Give yourself the gift of today!

I loved this post! You're such an inspiration. I agree with you 100%. I always try to focus on the future so much that I forget that every small day ends up to a big chunk of success. By focusing on three months from now, or tomorrow, we're losing track of how much ONE simple day can benefit us so much! Thank you for this!

Boy, can I relate to your whole health in waves blog. I start to live healthy then I lose focus of the now and start focusing on the future. or I get in a downward spiral and focus on how miserable I have been and still am not focused on the now. It's now that I can somewhat control and that does affect me. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and keep working toward the healthiest you you can be at the moment. For me every day has to be day one. I can see progress from the past and take pride and motivation from it and I can make goals for the future but now is what I need to work with.

Ya, what the "heck" was I thinking I could run a marathon in 7 mos and actually try to do it in the middle of winter-talk about a near death experience! I am back away from the ledge NOW- "thats a song", I'll learn and no matter what happens its alright. I'll keep training for that erif-SV-wols-I guess it's a new type of triathlon! Your right it does take time- I always remembered that and ALWAYS reminded! Keep Truckin-

Taking it day by day is a great way to set goals for yourself and work twords them. Remember, we all adjust to things in the same way...slow at first. But with desire, repetition AND patience with ourselves, we eventually figure it out.
Babies dont fall out of the womb and run a 5K. It takes awile to learn how to hold yourself up, crawl, toddle around, walk, then run. How many times will a baby fall on its rump and get really upset cause it's not walking? Sometimes...we fall on our runp too...sure we get upset, but we get up and try again, learning from the mistake we made.
And...Just because we are adults doesn't mean that everything comes together quickly in our brains. It took me a month to figure out the DVR I got from the cable company. I know I downloaded pictures into my computer last week but heck if I can find em! But I know that I will figure it out...I can learn it.
Some learn super quick, others may take a few pitfalls before they can figure it out. But the whole process is about learning about yourself and what works for you.
Losing weight isn't ALWAYS just about losing weight.
Keep the faith!!

It appears you r working so hard. I can relate with your challenges and fears. You wont get the answers to your questions no matter what you do here! It is what you do away from this place- away from this place is where today is- then speaking for myself, I still may not believe it!Remember for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction either seen or invisible. We may see it or affect ourselves with positive or negative karma or make someone else feel good or bad when we are "long gone". I still love Valentino lyrics! Live Well!

That's right sweetie keep telling yourself everyday, all that matters is TODAY. Live it like it was your last day on earth. Everything in baby steps...Don't beat yourself up if you have a bad day. Everyone goes through that. Keep your eye on the prize. Try not to get discouraged. Every sacrifice is a reward toward your goal. It will happen! Just be patient. Don't give up whatever you do. :) Hang in there YOU can do it. Keep giving yourself affirmations. Have a nice day! Were all cheering for you.

Khalia2- I am 2- just get in touch with feelings and cooking succulent meals with less calories will help your mood. You would be surprised what you can do if your kitchen is set up for eating less with more. In other words now you are eating catabolic parcels- succulent food parcels that require more energy too eat than too digest- now thats like killing two birds with one stone.- I think thats right now- you get the idea. There is a lot of info on this site concerning these foods- by me thinking this through-you are helping me too stay healthy. TY

Taking one day at a time is the solution that I have learned to make my number one priority when it comes to eating what I want. I eat just enough to satisfy the craving and then try to work off the extra calories the next day. I don't beat up on myself anymore. I used to be a person who would give up but not anymore. Glad to see that you and I have many of the same thoughts.

WOW. Good for you. It sounds like you are really in tune with your body and what your weaknesses and strengths are. In addition, you know what to do to correct your down times.
That's pretty awesome especially if you figured this out for yourself without the help of a therapist. Nothing wrong with therapy I used to go myself.
I am going to incorporate some of your actions and thoughts into my daily routine.
Thanks and keep up the good work.

I really liked your thoughts on the waves! thank you for the reminder that I don't have to worry about tomorrow. All I need is to do the best I can for today. If I keep worrying about what happened yesterday, I loss tomorrow.. I live for tomorrow, because where I have been in a clinical depression now sees tomorrow will be a great day if I allow myself to smile. I have suffered mental and physcial abuse as a child, parent neglected a ADHD illness, lost a husband and home from diabetes type 1 and have now 2 teenagers with ADHD. I now have a job, two happier teenagers and self respect.. Don't get this allowing myself to stay down in that black hole.. I can find all the excuses and reasons to stay down, but life is what I make it so tomorrow always looks better from where I stand..

What I meant by a "low spot" is anything that brings my mood down, distracts me from my goals or otherwise causes a feeling of hopelessness like some of the other postings in "Tomorrow no longer exisists for me". So what I meant was don't let lifes upsets get you down for too long. Yes, eating smaller portions and exercising help you meet your goals. But so does recognizing that these things can make you feel better emotionally too. I just finished 15 minutes of strength training and my serotonin levels are boosted. Doing something for me and not focusing on the argument with my husband, or the unexpected dental bill, etc, doesn't carry as much "weight" with me after working out. So I continue to focus on taking it one day at a time, and getting out of my low spots as quickly as possible. And never giving up.

Connie- A low spot is when you reach your goal? Exercise and a disciplined eating pattern helps. Your post is motivating me to eat smaller portions and workout to reach my goal. Is that what you meant?

Connie-what's a low spot? I have a cam that's shot and in need of an up grade. I guess I'll have to exercise and eat right!

I sure can relate to the exercise....I really don't want to do ...but I do them any way and gee I always feel like have accomplished something. There has been no weight lose but I do feel good and I guess for now, that just keeps me going. BABY STEPS

I can really relate to this. My last "long" low spot lasted 15 weeks. I gained 15#. Then I decided to try again. This time taking it one day at a time. I still have low spots. But they now only last one or two days a month. My biggest motivator has been how I feel after exercising. It is incredibly invigorating! I've lost that 15# plus 3 extra in the last 12 weeks, plus gained muscle, so I'm fitting into sizes I haven't seen in 5 or more years. Taking it one day at a time and living for today is probably the best advice anyone can follow.

Your message sounded so much like me. I start out exercising 6 days a week, 40 minutes a day (per doctor instructions)and then the next week or two I don't exercise at all. I just can't seem to figure it out. I do know one thing I really resent getting up early. I am not a morning person, but if I wait to exercise later in the day, I don't do it at all. I am going to follow your suggestions and also take some alone time to figure out what my problem is. Thanks for sharing.

Check this out- the board is cool, helpful, fun and all that kind of stuff. We kinda help each other stay motivated, we identify commonalities of our struggles, and share our feelings. The board is reduced by 100 fold too something I wrote- I read that today and it clears up a cloudy day- the feeling expressed in that writing indicates pure interaction with anyone, anyone no matter who they are and what their circumstances. Now that is a real feeling! Something I will live by-enjoy your day- stay motivated

I had not thought about taking one day at a time until I read your message. Thank you for reminding all of us that today is the day to do your best, not yesterday and NOT tomorrow.
Thank you

Thank you. I will try this and see if it helps me, as it has apparently helped so many others. I know that finally I swept the stairs -- which I have wanted to do for weeks. It felt good. I have a person who comes over every day. Let's see if he notices. If he doesn't -- who cares? Not me. I swept those stairs FOR ME! Thanks for the insight.

This dip doesn't have many of the same ingredients as hummus, but it is about the same consistency. I spread this on bread or tortillas with vegetables for a quick sandwich, I dip carrots and celery into it, and I eat it with tortilla chips for a snack.
