I'm back. Did 8 machines but treadmill I use was occupied. Keep in mind folks, I do not kill myself on these wt machines, but it is good wt bearing exerrcise.

My wt may be holding, but one of these days....

Thank you Margaret. Not sure if I'll go to fitness ctr today, but I might yet. I do encourage others to do some routine exercise. As much as I hate to openly admit it, you will feel better. Obviously, I am over-wt, and I have balance/mobility issues. Before the issues I did walk quite a bit but not casual or "exercise" walking, just as a means to get from point A to point B and I did treadmill ocassionally. I've included the tread the last couple of visits. I'm hoping that is not the root cause of my tired knees. Perhaps I did too many leg presses at too high a wt.

Oh, was just talking to DD while writing this. She is at fitness cctr I go to and I just told her I'd t my act togethr and meet her there. So I'll chit-chat later.

Hi folks. How is everyone doing this evening? This is ridiculous. I'm suppose to be retired not just tired. Been to the fitness ctr and added a couple of different wt machines and I think I'm up a lb today. Even though I am tired and my knees are kind of tired, overall I feel good and am glad I went. Now I just have to convince myself to be glad about going tomorrow.
Time to say good-night and pleasant dreams to all emoticon

Hi everyone, thought I'd stop by and check in. I'm off for 2 days now. What a weekend. I spent my 2 days opening boxes of new fashion. I guess that doesn't sound to hard but someone will have to tell my back that.lol

Mary so sorry to hear your having bad headaches. I hope the rest and meds take care of it.

Linda, my thoughts and prayers are going your way . Hope the doctors find out what the matter is and fast.

Agnes, I'm glad to see your planning to take some time for yourself this weekend before the new work week begins.

Bernie and Nancy I hope your both taking some time for yourselves as well.

Have a great week everyone.

Hi Everyone,
Couldn't sleep, so here I am, checking in to wish everyone a peaceful and restorative day. I have a busy one today as I must get some work done, however in between stretches of work I plan to do a few relaxing things. I'm already thinking how great a nap will feel this afternoon.

Hope you all have a good one. Linda, I'm thinking about you.

So sorry to everyone facing illnesses, too many hours of work and not sleeping, etc. I continue to hold all of our 48er group up in prayer that we may do well on this healthful journey physically and mentally and be provided with all our needs met All my best to each and everyone of you.

I am weighing in today at 182 today which down 4 pounds for the week. This is my personal best so far on SP. I have been there once before and gained back but this time I am determined to leave the 180s behind and start seeing weights in the 170s with no going back.

Cheering Linda, Nancy and Agnes on in the longest streak that the 48ers have had in the If You're Up You're Out Challenge.

I am deep cleaning today and hanging my pictures back on the walls. It seems I move so slowly in getting it all done these days. But things are looking up in getting rid of clutter, keeping things clean and I am definitely getting a workout.

May everyone get some rest this weekend although I remember that Margaret posted she has to work.

Barely holding onto 190. Thought I'd be up today as lunched at a friend's home and dinner w/GS at Steak & Shake. Next week I might lose my next lb.
I do hope everyone who was feeling less than terrific is improving and those feeling great continue being great or better than greeat.

Hi, Still not well. Getting tired of lab work ect. but until they find the problem. I go for a liver ultrasound on Monday. I am jaudiced. So with having this medical problem I continue to lose weight. I now am at 177.4 which is down 3 pounds. Not the way I want to lose it.
Glad you are finally feeling better Mary. Just take it easy.
Deanna, You sound like you need a rest. Take it easy as we don't need another sickie.
Got to go, another dr. appointment.

CHERIJ16 emoticon on losing that lb! The walking in WM may have made that different! Hope your DH is feeling better

Deana, So sorry to hear that you are struggling with your work as well as daily structure. Sometimes life is harder for us as we grow older. I know I struggle with depression at times. It's hard when you slip into a mood of complacency to get beyond it sometimes. Praying that you will feel more able to get to a better place as Spring approaches. I think that will make us all feel a little better, eh? Hang in there emoticon !

Margaret, the new kitchen sound great. Looking forward to seeing the pictures. When is your GGB due?? I know you will enjoy him!

Agnes, emoticon You're still in the challenge. Hopefully we'll hear reports from Linda & Nancy today to see if they remain in too!

Oops! Forgot to mention even if I'm am out of the challenge, I wanted to report my weight @ 185 today. Still above my lowest but now that I'm starting to feel better & got out for the first time yesterday, I should be able to get it back down in the coming weeks. Maybe with better weather I'll even start walking again soon!

Good morning everyone and thank you for all of your thoughtful remarks. You have made me feel most welcome.

Happy March. I am really excited this morning as I lost another pound! This is after I stayed at 166 for 5 days. I was happy to have maintained but it feels good to finally be making a little more progress on my journey to lose weight and get healthy.

I hope all of you have a great day. emoticon

Good Morning 48ers,
I see that we have several new people joining us and that is wonderful! Welcome! I haven't been very active on this site this week. Just that long days at work and not sleeping very well have reduced my energy for other things. Still, I am trying to eat well and do what I can for myself. I'm looking forward to springtime and sunny days; it's been very gray and rainy here in Maine this week. In March I'll be going to D.C. for one week and I hope to see some signs of spring there.

I am reporting in with a 0.5 lb weight loss for the week. I've been trying not to snack before and after dinner. This is very hard for me. I hope I can keep it up.

Hope you all have a good weigh in.

Hi All
Well we have made it to the last day of February, and as I am reading a few post you all have so much going on and I should be in here posting with you. I do think of you.
I just haven't had to motivation, to post, to track or do much in SP. I have had dental surgery and keep working about 10 hours a day in the office. I wish I could retire!! I do no walking I just sit at the desk and beat my head against the wall.

The end of the month at my work is awful. So, off I go to face another one.
Good luck tomorrow on your challenge.
Deana

As a follow up to Terrific Tuesday I have to say today was Wacky Wednesday! I spent the first half of the day at the Night/Day clinic with my husband. What he thought was a cold turned out to be a nasty upper respiratory infection. The doctor gave him 2 shots and wrote scripts out for an antibiotic and a cough syrup with codeine. That means the second half of my day was spent at Walmart waiting to get those scripts filled. (3 hours)
The good news is that he is feeling a little better and I did a lot of walking at Walmart. I also found a pretty pillow for the sofa!

Good day everyone. I know it isn't weigh in day but I am so excited by my weight. Yesterday the scale said I was down to 182.5 and I didn't believe it. Then this morning it said 180 which is the lowest I have been since starting SP! I have been on track this week, drinking at least 10 glasses of water and doing some exercise so maybe it will hold until our weigh in on Friday.. Just had to share my excitement as it is really an inspiration to me to keep doing all the right things.

Mary hope you are doing well with healing after surgery. You usually post more often so I am worried about you.

Linda, glad you are on the mend.

Welcome to our new people.

And to all of our wonderful 48er group have a "TERRIFIC TUESDAY!!!"

Hi Everyone,
I was born on July 27th.,1948 so I guess that makes me one of the group! I enjoyed reading your comments. It sounds like many of you have become good friends. I hope to join you.

I am new to SP. This is the beginning of my 3rd. week and so far I've lost 7 pounds. My greatest achievement has been to lower my blood sugar readings by making healthy food choices and getting in some exercise. I feel great!

I am sorry that many of you are experiencing some health issues and hope you will soon be feeling much better. I haveType 2 Diabetes and fibromyalgia but nothing I can't handle.

By the way, I was a preemie too, but in 1948. I weighed 4 pounds. I think that is the last time I wasn't overweight! lol

Linda, 4.4 lbs! Poor you. That's not a good way to lose it! Don't want you to gain it back but sure glad you're starting to get your appetite back. You go girl!

Again, today was Bernie's special day. emoticon Bernie! Hope you've had a fabulous day!

Hi all. Hope everyone, including cheerleaders, are moving forward. Did't go to fitness ctr.today, but did go to the Lent fish-fry. Fish was great (not heaily breaded) had second round of fish but didn't have sides. M-m-m M-m-m good. As I think about my lengthy holding status, I wonder if it is because I don't watch as closely 1 day a week. Even on the splurge day I am still 1200-1500 calories for the day,,, Well, giving up won't get me any healthier, so I shall continue.

Hi everyone, I did weigh, but never found my way into the computer until now. Sorry it is so late today. I am down another 4.4 pounds. Now at 180.4 I know now that I am starting to feel better and eating more food the weight loss should slow down. I hope so anyways. All my clothes are hanging on me. Even hubby said he would rather have me healthy and round than skinny and sick. How true.
Mary, Hope you are feelilng better , but still taking it easy.
Thankyou to all the get wells wishes. I am sure that they helped me along.
Welcome to Kitty. Hope you post often with us. We are a very friendly group.
Tonight since I am feeling pretty good and not coughing, we are going out to play some cards with our good friends. The only place I have been is out dog walking.
Best go,
Cheers, Linda

As I scanned the results of last week's posts, winners were Agnes, Linda & Nancy remaining in the challenge. So far today both Agnes & Nancy have reported holding at same weight as last week so we'll just wait on Linda's report. Just want to say that you are all doing great to hang in there for the past 6 weeks! So fa we've all been winners for sticking it out whether in the running as winners are on the sidelines as cheer leaders. We're sticking in the fight to lose these extra unwanted lbs. ! emoticon

Linda, sure hope this new antibiotics will get you well friend. We'll both get thru this difficult time. And for you dear emoticons who are praying & encouraging as well as keeping things going here...we thank you all. Almost a big emoticon to you who have recently joined us. Hope to get to know each of you better as you join in & as we get to feeling better.

I'm holding at 190, but the slacks I am wearing today are getting bigger. Think I'll go to fitness ctr before heading to Lent Fish Fry. Love that fish, but hope it isn't heavily breaded.
Have a wonderful Friday and weekend folks.

Killyntn - welcome to our group. It looks like you're new to SP, and I'm pleased that you're trying us out. Everyone in this group is very supportive of whatever we're all going through. I live in Maine, married to the same guy for many, many years, and we have two daughters who are gone from the nest. I'm working full time, but not working is starting to sound very good. When you have a chance please let us know a little about you.

All, I stayed the same this week, which I'm very pleased about. Like Margaret, I'm heading off now to get ready for work.

Best,
Agnes

Kitty, welcome. I'm a fairly recent joiner and was early enough to participate in the current Friday weigh-in challenge. I don't like competition, but this is something each person does individually yet is accountable on a weekly basis. It has really helped keep me focused on food consumption but mostly getting to the fitness ctr to burn off some of the consumption on.

Retirement: I worked 50 yrs, 1 mo, 2 wks (I found the day I started my first non-baby-sitting job in my Mom's family calendars). I never expected to retire and had no interest in it. I suggest before you retire try to have a group of girl friends. Not relatives and not couples friends, but a network of male and female friends.

Linda, I am glad you pursued until you found the dr that can help you. I hope you will now have a speedy, complete recovery.

Hi everyone, my goodness Mary and Linda you are both having a rough time of it lately. I hope your both taking care of yourselves. I'm sure your hubbies are taking care of you make sure you listen to them.

I handed in my vacation time that I wanted . I 'm allowed 3 weeks this year and I've decided to make it my last vacation. My last week will be in July , and then I'll take my retirement.

I hope all my spark friends are on the road to better health. Please take care.

Hugs Margaret

Wow! Linda, I do hope that you're on a better track now to getting better. It certainly sounds like they needed to get you on some powerful antibiotics.

Mary, I hope the bleeding is letting up a bit and you are more comfortable. I'm sure it's a very difficult process. And, you are letting your husband take care of you, right?

Margaret, I'm with you. Retirement is starting to sound divine. I have a big push at work through June, then I am going to take stock of this working business and see if I can cut back at least a little. I haven't tallied up my miles yet, but I'll try to do that this weekend.

My best to all,
Agnes

Linda and Mary feel better soon.

Just spent a good morning with my grandson. Then repaired my daughter's sewing machine. Now I'm up to by craft room to see what I can get involved in.

Happy Tuesday eve,

Hi I am alive. Been really bad with fevers, chills etc, falling over dizzy. Saw dr. yesterday and he wanted me to go do some lab work, but I was too late in the day. Planned to do early next morning, but instead ended up with a ambulance ride into the hospital. Had chest pains, and back pains. After five hours in hosp. with chest exrays, blood work and some other tests, found that my white blood cells are way too high. Trying to fight an infection. Now on some more antibitics which are supposed to do the trick. I wish they had done this back in January.
Today I stopped taking my blood pressure pills as I hardly even had a blood pressure. Now maybe I can get better and get my appetite back before I waste away.
Mary, Hope that your bleeding stops and you continue to get well.
Cheers, Linda

Well heck, of course being a premie in 1947 should count. So should 108# at time of wedding count for something. That and I contend all of the stuff we don't eat should count as part of a wt reduction becauuse by not eating it we didn't gain.
Makes sense to me.
Have a great day everyone. Well look at that. The Ctrl In gray day is starting to turn sunny, but it still chilly at 22.

Hi everyone,

Yes, I agree the losers are the WINNERS! I am a holder this week. Still working on my challenge to "Lose 13 in by June, 2013". 10 pounds to go.

I feel so badly for all of the posts of everyone - surgery, feeling badly, stress, working too hard and poor Val that I am just going to include our whole group of 48ers and their families in my prayers to heal quickly and feel better.

We had a cat named Turkey when my children were growing up. He got his leg caught in the garage door and eventually the vet suggested we put him down. Our daughter said to her daddy on the way home that it just wasn't right- that people still lived when they had to lose an arm or leg so why couldn't they just fix Turkey. My husband turned the car around and went to another vet who told him animals do well after an amputation. We all loved that cat and he did do well. He lived to be 17. We had moved a lot over those years and a lot had happened to Turkey before the amputation - he had gotten hit my a car, had an ear abcess, got locked in a storage building on a worksite over a weekend while we searched for him, etc. Our daughter was in the fourth grade and she wrote a story, "The Lifes and Times of a Three Legged Turkey". She won the state young authors award.

My thoughts and prayers are with us all, our families and our pets. God be with us all as we continue on our Healthy Winning Journey.
