Hello all. I've had a very long & busy day. Up at 3 am to bring gs to airport to fly to Panama, then decorating at the church for VBS which starts Monday. Came home & ate lunch & headed to see all 3 daughters in town, cooked supper & now fixing to get airline ticket for DH to join me in Guatemala next month after my mission trip.

Margaret, the Blues Fest sounds like fun. Hope you're enjoying it.
Char, hope the dark collar works. I have found that if someone comes to the door, all I need to do is grab the leash & put it on Val and she knows to calm down & quit barking. So far it seems to help...otherwise she's like a mad dog, barking & trying to attack my quests whether she knows them or not. lol
Linda, enjoy your camping trip! Glad to hear the weight is holding. My scale showing a downward trend the last few days, especially. Hope it continues.

Mary

Hi everyone, Seems like we are all busy with the summer. Going places and having fun.
We have been home and away quite abit, and now I am packing up to leave again on Sunday for a week with most of our six kids and families at camp. Should be interesting and pobbily exhausting for me., but I will enjoy it.
This morning it is off to Costco and then to the local market Coombs for fruit and veggies. Mine in the garden will most likely be ready to pick during the week away. hmmm. It will also be in need of watering. We always turn our water to the house off when we leave ever since we had the flood from a broken water line a few years back that destroyed our floors in the house.
Well dog needs her walk before we head to town , so I will scoot . Thinking of all of you and good luck with your weight losses.
Cheers, Linda
P.S, I am staying the same weight.

Had a great weekend and didn't do real bad with eating. No computer so not able to track but I did watch and stayed away from fast foods/sweets. I started a challenge with some local women from church-no fast foods/chips/soda for 21 days. So far doing pretty good. Still have not gotten a scales but working on that. Budget is still tight as we get the things we need for the apartment as well as pay off final utilities from old house. Also I had to break down and buy a no-bark collar for my fur baby. She just will not stop barking when left alone. I am going to hate using this but only other choice is moving (not an option anymore) or getting rid of her. Also not an option in my opinion!!

Praying she gets the idea real fast so as not to have to use it long term. They say many dogs get used to it and as soon as you put it on them they know not to bark. Vet says it is not cruel and should work well with her. So I'm off to the campgrounds for a few days and will try it there first so as not to cause problems here at the apartment if it don't work.

Take care all, i will check in later this week and will be cheering you all on from the side lines with your challenge. HUGS and Blessings,
Char

Hi everyone. It was a quiet day for me yesterday. I hadn't got much sleep the night before so it was a couch potato day. Unfortunately it was a munchies day as well. Today I must get very active and keep going so I stay away from the munchies and get back on track.

Tomorrow hubby is taking me up north to a place called Mont Tremblant. It's a ski resort but this week they have a Blues fest on and I wan to look around at the shops. So our grand daughter said she would come with the baby and then my daughter said she was coming as well. It's going to be a tight squeeze in the car but it'll be fun.

Hope you all have a great day.

Hugs Margaret

It was a quiet weekend here Mary. The grandkids have taken up kayaking with their parents so we didn't get to see them this weekend. We did go out for a drive though and saw some beautiful country off road. I unfortunately didn't have my eating under control this weekend and definitely had too many calories. Today is a new day. Back to tracking my food and I did a nice long workout on the treadmill this morning.

I hope everyone else is staying on track.
Hugs,.

Hope all had a wonderful weekend. Quiet here. Nothing special. Have 2 youngest grandsons today while their mom is cleaning house for someone then we will head for WalMart this afternoon. Had a really cool early morning yesterday,,,down to 65 degrees which was awesome as most nights it's still 80 degrees around midnight. but it warmed up to the 90's yesterday afternoon.

Well it's the start of a new week with the 4th behind us, Hope we are all ready to get back to good healthy eating & portion control. Planning to do salmon patties again this week as "Salmon is high in omega-3 fatty acids, making it a great choice for dinner." That is my tip for the day!

Today is our 4th day of showers. They call this the Monsoon Season here as usually around July 4th the showers appear. It is lovely in this desert area to smell that fresh smell of rain. Today the shower included some small hail.

I did well at yesterday's celebration in not overeating. I turned down the cake and went for the fruit without feeling any denial.

Mary and Theresa, let's see how long we can keep this challenge going with our cheerleaders joining us and cheering us on to our healthy weight and lifestyle. emoticon

Congratulations Bernie on losing one pound. You are a great inspiration for me. I'm trying to keep up with you but didn't do as well. I managed to lose .2 of a lb this week. It's not much but at least it is still going in the right direction.

Happy July 4th everyone!

Our temperatures have come down a bit today, a nice change from the extreme heat we have had so far this week. I'm praying for rain.

Have a great weekend!

Happy to report that my tracking this week paid off! I lost a pound. Next week my goal is to eat 3 well balanced meals each day and to see if I do that I will have to track it.

Celebrating this evening with a cookout at my daughter's house and watching the fireworks in town. We had nice showers the last 2 days so fire danger is way down. Yeah! Hope everyone enjoys their day.

Nice to see you all posting. It's been very warm here as well and the heat is not being very friendly towards me. I find myself staying in mostly. If I go out I try for first thing in the morning or go to the malls.

I have heard from Agnes. She is out of hospital but it's been taking some time to get back up to speed. She was saying that she would stop by once she was feeling her old self.

Linda, sounds like you have a huge garden . Mine consists of 2 tomatoe plants and radishes and carrots. But the raspberries look like they are going to give us another bumper crop. Hubby has already started to pick them up.

We have another busy month coming up. With birthday parties and a big family reunion. We have people coming from all over for that. It should be fun. The last total was at 90 people that would be showing up.

So far so good for me this week. The scale hasn't moved either way but with this heat I'm happy with that seeing that I look like a balloon with everything swelling up. My feet look like pigs feet. LOL

Hope everyone has a good weigh in on Friday.

Hugs Margaret

Hello everyone!

Linda - sorry to hear something or someone is taking your garden produce. We have a big problem with marmots and voles here. It's almost impossible to grow a good garden. They don't bother with raspberries and strawberries so that is what we grow now. Other than that just a lot of flower beds. I've learned what they like and don't like so plant accordingly.

Bernie - good to hear you are still on track. My weight is staying the same so far.

It's been extremely hot here the last few days and I think I have a bit of heat stroke. I have a terrible headache today. Probably stayed outside too long yesterday puttering in the yard. I hope I can get rid of it soon as I have to work in the office all day tomorrow.

Hugs,
Theresa

Hi to everyone, We have been away in the RV quite abit lately and I have not been on my computer much at all. Been busy with the garden which is really starting to grown now. Beets, carrots, kale , peas and beans all doing well. The zuchinni plant is producing but whenever I go to get one, it is gone. Don't know what or who is taking them. Maybe raccoons as I do see some chewing marks on them. Wish I could find out what is happening to them.
Today we are awaiting our son and daugher in law to arrive. They got stuck in the ferry line ups and will get here in about an hours time. Late lunch, but I am looking forward to that. They will stay for only one night then off to visit other family members on their trip from Kelowna.
I am having a hard time eating the proper foods, and I am hungry all the time. Must get back on track and do some tracking here on the Spark pages very soon.
Margaret, Hope that things work out with your house guest for that long.
Bernie, Nice to hear from you too.
Miss hearing from Deanna and Agnes. Hoping they are both fine.
Thinking about the rest of the gang and will be checking in to see how everyone is doing on this round. Good luck gals.
Cheers, Linda

Hi all,
It;s odd to have to go to page two to find our post since we are usually on page one. Missing several of our 48ers and hoping all is well.

Char, so sorry to here about your DH. I have tried so many times to sneak in good things into my DH's diet and he seems to catch it and also turns his nose up. He goes grocery shopping and you should see the JUNK he comes home with. What can you do if that is their mindset?
Hope he is better and that you will be able to find a scale.

Margaret, hope you enjoyed Canada Day! I wouldn't know how to act if a young person moved back in with us. Good luck!

Mary, well it's hump day on my tracking and my weight is down. If I can just keep it up and make it become a habit. Thanks for asking.

Happy hump day to all. Looking forward to the weekend celebrations!

Hi everyone. Well so far so good with the grand daughter here. She informed me yesterday that she would like to stay here for bout 2 years to save up to get a down payment for a house. In my mind I was thinking more on the lines of 1 year. So we'll see how it goes.

Yesterday I told her that she would have to help with the cleaning around the house and she jumped right in and gave a hand. ( I was very surprised she is not very domesticated ) LOL I have a feeling she will be doing more things from now on .

The weather is beautiful right now but the humidex has us up in the 40's . The air condition is working full force and it is hard to breath when we go outside so I've become a couch potatoe.
It is 2;42am at the moment and you could cut the air with a knife it's so heavy outside. I don't know how some of you do it with this type of weather all the time. I wish there was some way of bottling it up and keeping it for winter time. LOL

I must go and try to go back to sleep I'll never be able to watch my little GGS today if I don't.

Have a great day everyone.

Happy Monday! Even though it is almost bedtime...lol Hope all had a good weekend. Things are quiet here. Wondering about Linda, Agnes, Deana, & Lynn. Hope things are going ok with all.

Char, sorry to hear that your DH is not doing well. Is he diabetic? I don't remember if you said he was. I know it is hard for many diabetics to follow their diets as they crave the wrong foods.
Hope you get to buy a new scale soon.

Margaret, how is it going at home with your GD moving in?
Bernie, how it it going with your tracking?

We had salmon patties & stir-fried veggies for supper tonight & our 20 y.o. GS came to eat & visit with us. He's the one most interested in family history so tonight he had questions about his grandfather which none of my grandchildren ever had the privilege to meet. He & I married when I was 16 & he was 26. He died when my girls were 16, 14 & 8. Well anyway, we had a good visit & he loved my salmon patties. emoticon

I was not able to join this week. Still no scales but did weigh myself in the ER while they were admitting my husband. It was 207 which is down from when I had my surgery but still up from where I was before hand. I really need to get back out of the 200rds.

Husband needed a blood transfusion and IV iron therapy. Tomorrow morning we have a conference with the MD about his eating etc. I'm sure he will not be happy as he eats lots of stuff I know he shouldn't. And when I do fix the right stuff, he sometimes turns his nose up or says it's not enough lol. MEN they sure don't help when it comes to diets!!

I am going to do some shopping tomorrow and hope to be able to afford a scale. So next week I can join the challenge again. Good luck to all and good eating. HUGS, blessings.

This week I am concentrating on tracking my food every day and staying within my calorie range. According to SP if you write down your goal then you will be more likely to do it. So there it is and I've put it as a sticky note on my computer and bathroom mirror. By next Friday I'll report on how well I did. Wish me luck because I want to be down again next weigh-in. And I'm wishing everyone a healthy week of good choices.

Weigh-in for the new challenge this morning was 188. Up 1 lb from last Friday I believe but it's been a busy week of VBS & eating the snacks provided & meals on the run. Sorry I have not been here much lately. I do have 2 weeks break between VBS now so I'll try to be more consistent. Hope a few others will sign in & join us for this round of the challenge. Right now there are only 4 of us. BUT emoticon

Weight in day today - 144.8 lbs. Down exactly one pound since last Friday. The summer salads are paying off.

It's raining here today so I'm going down to my treadmill for the workout today.

Good morning everyone. Well the past few days have been ruff. Grand daughter moved in on Saturday with her cat and dog . My cat doesn't seem to want a friend. so we have a little action there. the dogs are fine together and my dog gets along well with her cat.

She showed up with 5 big green bags of washing. My machine has been working over time since then. To top it off it had rained for 2 days so nothing could be hung outside. I had clothes hanging all over the place. LOL

Then of course my other grand daughter helped her moved and so did the other grand children also help. So there were more at meal times. It seems the only thing I have been doing is washing and cooking meals.

To day we have our great grandson to look after. But it's a nice day and we will be able to go out side with him. I'm just started my washing and the first load is already out on the line.

Hope you have a great day ' I also hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Hugs Margaret

Char, I know what you mean. When you seem to do all the right things and nothing happens it is disappointing but I keep telling myself if hadn't done all the right things then the scale would probably have shown a weight gain. I have hyperthyroidism which as you know makes it even harder. I surely didn't know that your thyroid could grow back! I've found that if I track high on protein and low on carbs while staying in my calorie range that the weight begins to come of even though it is a slow process. Hang in there.

Hope all is well with everyone as it seems rather quiet on posting.

Why is it that no matter how much I hate being overweight I just seem not to be able to lose? I can track and stay in the calorie range, drink the water and even do alittle exercise and my body refuses to give up an inch!! Anyone else have that issue? I am going to see if I can find a different MD that will check my thyroid more often and see if that helps. It was suppose to have been destroyed but an ER dr. said he thinks it has started to grow back. After researching I've learned that if they miss even one little cell that after years it can grow back again causing problems. My current MD says it's normal? How can it be in normal condition if it was destroyed? OH sometimes I get so frustrated.

But today is a new day and I will try to change things up a bit to see if I can shock the old body into doing things differently. I do know that sometimes we can cut calories too much and that anything under 1200 for most women causes our bodies to go into starvation mode. So I am upping my calories as well as exercise. As soon as I can adjust my budget I will be rejoining the local Y so I can exercise in the water. Less stress on the knees, hip and lower back.

HUGS and BLESSINGS!!

Oops! I caved in and had a Big Mac! Even so ... tracking my food for today I only went over in calories 36 points and it was worth every bite.

My goal for the rest of the week is to eat the low end of my calorie range, drink at least 8 glasses of water and get in that dreaded exercise.

Gotta lose one pound this week to stay on track for my 8 week challenge.

Thinking of those who are ill and going through difficult health issues. Hoping to hear from you soon that you are better.

Hello everyone. The 25th was a great success . They were totally surprised. I got back home at about 10 and was really tired. I wish my body could give me at least 8 hours sleep at one time I seem to be getting about 6 if I'm lucky.

I also found out that I don't much care for driving at night alone anymore. I told hubby that it will be daylight trips from now on unless he's the one driving.

I'm in the process of getting a room ready for my grand daughter who will be staying with up for about a year. Along with her dog and cat. emoticon I think I'm going to need that little glass. lol but the only thing is I don't drink. Oh well things can't be helped.

Lynn, I hope your doing ok. We haven't heard from you in a little bit. My prayers are with you and your family.

Deana and Agnes I hope your also doing well. Wish you'd stop by and give us some news.

Hope you all have a great Sunday.

Mary, I'm not sure what is wrong with my spark page but I'll if I can figure it out. Some people seem to be able to access it and others not. At times I can't seem to get into it myself....lol... I'm sure I have a setting wrong or something.

It's a beautiful weekend here. We are busy painting the back steps and risers. What a tedious job! A lot of hard to get into little spaces but eventually it will get done.

Linda, our strawberries must be catching up to yours. We have had a couple of very nice picks this past week and a lot more to come. The grandkids have a ball with that.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Weight 145.8 today, down about half a pound.

Way to go Margaret and Mary! Keep up the great work!

Mary, we are also trying to eat lighter at suppertime. My worst habit is snacking after supper and I'm really working on stopping that.....but it's hard.

Gotta run here. Helping hubby paint the back steps today.

Then Saturday we have a 25th wedding anniversary to attend to. I haven't been on the scale all week and I don't think I'm anxious to see the numbers tomorrow.

But I'll be there to cheer you ladies on.

Sorry I have not been posting as I would like but glad to hear from some of you. It's good to come & read all the news of everyone. Seems I'm not the only busy person here. LOL But I am so very tired. Early mornings. late nights & long days of lots of different things going on. My DD was back with us due to some electrical problems so we had a house full all weekend but they went back home last night.

I know this is short but still got to check emails & do a few other things before getting some sleep. Volunteering at the Clothes Closet Ministry tomorrow.

Sounds like everyone is busy lately. Was at the campgrounds all weekend with my hubby. Our granddaughter is here from Kentucky for a couple weeks and it was nice to spend time with her. we don't get to see her much at all since her dad took her out of state. Father's day was a mixed blessing as he loved having her and some of the rest of the grandkids around but his only bio daughter ignored him. Really upsets me when she pulls that sort of thing and then brags on FB about her great day with other people celebrating Father's day. Nothing I can do at least my children all treat him as their dad!! I'll never understand some people.

My diet is out of wack!! Just can't seem to get on track with eating right. This hot weather makes me not want to eat and as well all know that is not good as the body tends to hold on to every little bit of fat it can get!! I know eating too little is as bad if not worse than eating too much when it comes to dieting. So got to get this under some sort of control. I have also tried to walk just a few more steps each day as I walk my dog. Nice places to walk here at the new apartment. So hope that helps as well. I know my attitude is getting alittle more relaxed as I settle into this new phase of life.

Well time to call it a evening. Blessings all and hope everyone has a good week. Oh and someplace i've lost my scales. Guess i'll have to buy a new one nex week when we get our check. So it looks like i won't be weighing in friday. But my heart is still in this with you all.

HUGS and BLESSINGS,

HUGS and BLESSINGS!!

Margaret - nice to hear the wedding was such a success. It sounds like you really need some sleep now though....lol...

It looks like we might finally have a sunny day here today. I've enjoyed the benefits of the rain on my gardens but now it is time for sunshine and getting outside with the kids. Two more days of babysitting grandkids and then back to normal again.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Ladies, well it was a beautiful wedding. I'm so glad we made it down for it.

Our trip started at 3;15 Saturday morning. It was pouring rain for about half of the trip . It took us 12 hours to get there. I figured we would be able to have a little snooze but it just wasn't meant to be. We ran into our grandson as we were checking into the hotel . He wanted us to go back to his house and show us what he had done since we were down the last time. Buy the time we got back to the hotel it was time to take a shower and get ready as we had to get there a little before for pictures. Of course the directions they printed out for us didn't take into consideration the construction that was going on and we had to find another way to get there. We arrived a little late but they waited for us to take the photos. Then we went to where the reception was taken place and what a beautiful place it was. It was in the "Windsor Club" which over looked the water and we could see the shore line of Detroit .

The couple looked great. I don't think my grandson will ever ware his suit again but he looked good in it. LOL the bride wore an ivory colour short dress and she looked great. they were so nervous that things wouldn't go right the bride hadn't slept in 3 days. I told her everything is over now so just enjoy the party.

We got back to the hotel at about 12 am . Talk about being tired. Hubby stayed up talking to our son and grand daughter but I just couldn't anymore. I went in and just fell on the bed and woke up the next morning. We started our trip back at 6;17 am and got home at 6;30 last night. I think it will take us a few days to recuperate. But we have to be back on the road again tomorrow morning for my brother in law's funeral which is out of town again. But only about an hour away.

So ladies I'm heading off to bed now because as you can guess we are a little tired. LOL

Hugs to all

Margaret

Good Morning All!

Thank you Mary for the good thoughts and they are coming right back at you as well!

It's cold, rainy and windy here this morning but hopefully things will clear up so we can get outside. I have my grandkids here this week as the teachers are on strike.

My weight was down half a pound since last Friday so I'm hoping to hang on to that until next weigh in day.

Bernie - I hope your tooth trouble is settling down. Nothing is worse than a toothache!

Well guys, I have found a sure way to lose weight and it is called toothache. Of course I don't recommend it but I'm trying to look at the "bright side".

We celebrated Father's Day yesterday with our daughter and 2 grandsons as our SIL has his family visiting from NYC for several weeks and they are celebrating today. I don't know about you but on this quiet day I am missing my dad. Loved that man.

Hope you are all enjoying your day.

Hi everyone, Got back yesterday but forgot to weigh in. I am OUT now anyhow as this mornings weigh is now 169.5 I had too good of a time camping. We head out again tomorrow for three days with some other friends. Should get alot of geo caching done with them, as long as DH can do it. He has his oxygen tank now and it does seem to help him when needed.
Lynn, Prayers for you and family during your upcoming surgery. I will be thinking about you and hoping for a speedy recovery so you can get back on your glider again.
Bernie, Hope you feel better soon. Getting old and having to repair teeth is awful. And very expensive too.
This morning , I picked two big bowls of strawberries and I am not done yet. All this from a small garden box. The strawberries are huge and delicious too. The rest of the garden is not doing well. We haven't had any real hot days of sun yet.
Margaret, Have fun at the wedding. I bet the cake is beautiful. Any photos of it? Happy late anniversary. Sounds like you had a nice day.
Theresa, Lung problems are terrible. My DH has COPD and his is getting worst all the time. Not nice at all.
Best go and walk Cody and will take my neighbor some berries.
Cheers, Linda

Good Morning all! Yes, it's weigh-in Friday & although some of us are in the cheering section, I hope that all will report in & be accountable to the group & to the cause. Let's cheer on our challengers. emoticon emoticon

My weight is holding at 188 so I'll take it. Have been really busy since we're back from vacation but not walking but at least I am maintaining. I did however see a lower # on the scale a couple times this week so I'm trying!

Theresa, emoticon on maintaining as well! Sorry to hear that you are fighting those lung issues. Summer is rough when you're having that type of issues. emoticon

I'm off to meet with our VBS Craft teacher to go over plans & get a list of supplies we still need to buy. Will check in later!

Wow - it sounds like everyone has had a very busy time of late!
Bernie - I hope you feel better soon.
Lynn - Good luck with your surgery and prayers for a quick recovery. Good news about the angiogram.
I just finished a week of antibiotics for a bout of bronchitis. Still short of breath a bit so have to take the inhalers for a while longer. My doctor said it has been a bad year for lung infections. DH had it as well and he ended up on Prednisone as he already has COPD so any little thing extra above that for his lungs is very serious for him. He managed to stay out of hospital though this time around so that's a good thing.

Looking forward to weigh in day tomorrow. I've been trying hard this week to lose a little.

Have a great day everyone!

Bernie, sure hope your feeling better and that your mouth isn't giving you anymore pain.

Lynn, my prayers are for you and your family for a speedy recovery. They will sure miss you while your in hospital. But then again they will be able to spoil you when you get back home. But know going into your surgery that we are all praying for you.

Mary, you made me laugh. You didn't have a mental moment you had a bubble moment. When you forget every once in a while it's called "SOMETIMERS" So your still ok.

Thanks for all your good wishes we did have a fun day.

Today it's only 15 and raining quite hard. They are announcing that till Saturday. I'm glad it's going to be nicer on Saturday as we start our trip to Windsor Ontario to our grandsons wedding. It's a 12 hour drive but we'll stop every 2 hours to get out and walk around a bit. We also change drivers then as well.

I hope you all have a great weigh in I'll be there to cheer you on.

Hugs Margaret

Been so busy but finally mostly settled into the new apartment. Lynn, will be keeping you and all your caregivers in prayer for a great outcome and speedy recovery.

Bernie, I must agree. Dental pain is the worst!!

Today is looking to be very busy and I will have to try to get thru some more of these boxes. My scales is missing lol. Not sure if in one of these boxes or at the storage unit.

Praying all have a blessed day and eat well.

HUGS and BLESSINGS!!

Thought I'd do a quick check in before heading to bed. Long day today but very rewarding one.

Lynn, glad the angiogram went well & no blockage! That will make the valve replacement easier, I'm sure. I know you will feel so much better after your recuperation time. Praying for you & your family as well as the medical staff that will be attending you in the days to come. emoticon

emoticon Margaret on celebrating a happy anniversary.

Lynn, I will be praying for you as you go through surgery and for a speedy recovery.

The dentist did crown build ups on 3 teeth in a roll that had very large fillings that were leaking and could not be refilled. I woke up nauseated this morning and couldn't even think of eating but the pain had diminished some. Went on to bone density test today and wouldn't you know threw up in the midst of it. Then on to mammogram. Then accupuncture after which I began to feel better. I'm turning in for an early night.

Hi All,

Sorry I seem to have fallen off the radar this last week. My computer is doing a slow but painful death and I will miss it terribly if it finally dies on me. Hopefully not, just stay REALLY SLOW !!

My angiogram went well. It was very uncomfortable but I survived it. My arteries look fine so all I have to have is the valve replaced. I am glad for that.

I stayed the same, again, this week. I will post my weight on Thursday this week as I will be in surgery on Friday AM. Hope that is OK.

Granddaughter had a wonderful birthday. She squealed with delight each time she opened a present. She got a bike and looks so cute riding around outside.

I sat in my glider the other day. The weather was beautiful and no mosquitoes. I sat there for over an hour. It was great. Can hardly wait to get out there again. Maybe one more time before surgery, which is scheduled this Friday, the 13th, at 8am. So glad for all the prayers going up for me. I sure felt the effect of them for the angiogram. Thank you.

Mary, your vacation sounds so lovely. Wish I could have been a bug in your suitcase. LOL

Well, promised GD I would take her to lunch for her birthday. And that is today. She is 5 and has the hardest time making choices whenever it arrives. Like where to go to lunch.......
oh well....

I guess I better check out my budget and see how everything is going so I won't have to worry about paying bills while I am in hospital...for about 5-6 days they tell me. Oh yeah, then I have to go to rehab for about 3 days to learn how to get up from a chair and in and out of bed. Oh joy...

Strawberries sound so good. I wish we had a garden this year. DIL talks about it but has done nothing yet. Pretty soon planting time will be over. Maybe next year.

I will try to check in later, if computer lets me. I love reading all your posts.

Have a great day.
Lynn

Margaret, I'm so sorry I forgot yesterday was your wedding anniversary. Had looked at that last week & made a mental note to remember but being mental as I am, I forgot! LOL emoticon It sounds as though you & your DH made it a special day. Glad to hear it!

Bernie...tooth pain is surely one of the worse kind. emoticon Hope it's better by now!

Linda the heavy rains we have had here has really done a number on DH's garden. We are however picking lots of yellow summer squash! Need to cook some up tonight as a matter a fact.

Well I'm off to volunteer at the Clothes Closet ministry today so I'd better get going. Hope all have a great day!

What did the dentist do to you? I hope you feel better today.

Well the cake was finished being decorated yesterday. Then hubby and I went out to celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary. We went to see the movie "stars in fault" I believe it was called. It was well worth going to see. Then we walked around a bit as we had an hour to kill before the next one we wanted to see was staring. We checked out a place called "Sky venture" it's wear you can free fall as if your jumping out of a plane. It looked like a lot of fun but I'm to chicken to try it out. Then we went back to the movies to see "Blended" that also was a nice comedy and we enjoyed that as well. We went for diner at a little place and we were home again by 9 last night. We had a very enjoyable day.

Today I have the little Great grandson coming over for a few hours and then it's off to deliver the cake.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hugs Margaret

I envy those of you who have a garden. Linda, my mouth was watering thinking of those fresh strawberries. We are just not in a good growing area here - guess that's why they call it the desert southwest area of Colorado. People around us at lower elevations with access to water and good soil can grow a lot of things but not where I am. So... I love going to the farmer's market.

Margaret, I can't even imagine making such a cake. I admire you.

Mary, glad you made it home safely.

It is well past bedtime so I'll just turn in and say to all have a great week!

Good morning ladies,

Mary glad to hear your safe and sound back home. I'll say like Linda it must have felt good to be sleeping in your own bed. But I'm sure that after a few days you'll be wishing for those ocean breezes.

Linda, what a fun way to spend some time. It doesn't cost a fortune either. I love blowing bubbles. The children love to chase them as well.

Just came back from having my hair done. I need to make some phone calls and then I'm getting into baking and decorating the 25th wedding anniversary cake for my niece and her hubby.

My hubby has gone on a bike trip and won't be back till much later so I have plenty of time to work on things around the house as well.

Hope you all have a great day.

Good Morning,
Mary, glad you are home safe and sound. Its always nice to get back to your own bed etc. isn't it. Sure you will miss the ocean though. We are so lucky to have beautiful beaches all around us and I just love wandering around out on the sandy beaches. Yesterday we attended a flash mob in our local park. This was a bubble mob so we all took bubbles to blow at the scheduled time to all mob the park. It was alot of fun seeing the other peoples reactions to all of us doing the bubble blowing.
Theresa, Glad to hear you news. Make sure they do keep an eye on it.
Today we are meeting our grandson and taking him to lunch. He has a summer job in Nanaimo and has the day off today. He is coaching a baseball team .
I need to walk the dog now, and then get back outside to pick the strawberries. They are growing like crazy. I watered the garden this morning before breakfast and I ended up eating about twenty or more berries while standing out there. Yummy.
Cheers, Linda

Looks like the challenge is down to 3 this week as Margaret & I are both out.

Congratulations to Bernie & Theresa for staying the same & to Linda for losing 2 lbs!! emoticon emoticon

DH & I went for our last bare-foot beach walk of our vacation this evening. Walked almost an hour but hunted for shells as well. Went 1.25 miles though so I was happy with that. We'll be heading out early in the morning to get home tomorrow night.

Theresa, so happy to hear your good news.

I thought I would be up today as yesterday while babysitting they had donuts and then chips with lunch and I didn't deny myself of either. Went to bed feeling yucky for eating so badly. The scale was good to me though for all the other days of watching my p's and q's and I remained the same at 181.5.

The good news is that my blood tests all came back normal. CT scan did confirm two growths in the pancreas but they decided to just keep an eye and have another scan in a few months.

Good Morning, Weighed in two pounds lighter. Great news for me. I am having trouble cutting back on my food. Now that I can eat again, I find it hard to stop. Probably be on the cheering section soon. lol , as hubby made cinnamon buns yesterday and I've already had on this morning which I didn't need as I already had my oatmeal and yogurt. Well of to walk some of it off I hope. Why do we do these things to ourselves when we know better......
Margaret, Sorry to hear you are out already, but I sure understand.
I'll check in later to see how the rest of you are doing.

Another wonderful day of vacation. We took an hour ride in a 4 seater electric beach buggy on the beach this afternoon which was allot of fun, then played out in the waves for about a half hour which I don't usually do but it was fun. Water was so nice. We went out for dinner at a local seafood place on the docks overlooking a nice river where we watched dolphins play & brown pelicans flying by. A wonderful breeze blowing off the ocean. So nice & relaxing week. But tomorrow is our last full day here. We will travel home...at least a 12 hr drive on Saturday.

Linda, your fresh strawberries sound delish!

Just a reminder that tomorrow is weigh-in Friday ladies.

Hi, Just checking in. Sorry to hear that you are having problems Theresa. Hope everything turns out ok for you. Keep us informed.
Lynn, Know that we are thinking about you and pray for speedy recovery from your upcoming surgery.
Mary, the squash dinner sounded nice. I have a ways to go before anything is ready in my garden. I do have strawberries ready though , which we have been eating.
Margaret, I appreciate the offer of rain, but no thanks, I will water the garden myself. lol
Sunshine is just wonderful to have outside. Hubby just finished making three loafs of bread and three dozen cinnamon buns. They taste wonderful , but I only ate one. (so far)
Well should get outside again and tackle some more weeds. I just got a call from the hardware store that the garden boxes I ordered a long time ago have just come in. I had given up hope for them and don't really need more, but will go and get them. More work.
Cheers, Linda

Happy Birthday Margaret! It sounds like you had a great day.

Mary - so nice that you are having a vacation. Enjoy every minute of it.

Lynn - Good luck with your surgery next week! We will keep fingers and toes crossed for a speedy recovery.

Linda - I'm a little jealous of your garden. We haven't been able to have a garden since we moved to this part of town because the marmots and voles eat everything and it is just not worth the effort any longer. That's what I miss most about our old place. Maybe once this area gets built up more the critters will move further into the hills.

I'm now waiting to hear results of the CT scan I just had done. Haven't been feeling great lately with tummy pains. Doctor thought maybe gallstones so ordered an ultrasound. Gallbladder was fine but they found two growths in my pancreas so ordered the CT scan to have a closer look. It's always something isn't it?

Have a great day everyone!
Theresa

Thank you all Ladies for the Birthday wishes. Well today started off at 7;30 going for breakfast with hubby then to Wallmart and then a grocery store. Before that I had diner on the go and I only have to heat it up tonight.

I picked up my friend at 9;30 and headed out to the party. That is after stopping of for a bread and picking up a zipper for the dress for my grand daughter. It was nice to see the girls again. We sat around and chatted for over 3 hours. isn't it amazing how much we had to say to each other?

Home again now. It's been raining all day on and off. Big thunder storms . On the way home I could barely see the road. But we made it.

My children celebrated my birthday on Saturday night. They paid my pedicure so that was nice. All this celebrating is not helping the diet any I'll probably be up this week.

Mary glad your having a great time on Vacation. Soak it up as much as you can.

Bernie, nice to see you posting again we have missed you.

Lynn, glad to hear your surgery will be soon You'll feel so much better.

Linda, glad your enjoying the good weather. Do you want some rain??? LOL
