Hi everyone, I came into this room to clean up and pack the desk stuff, but here I sit and nothing has been done except look on computer and change some address that need to be changed on accounts etc. So much to do and I feel overwelmed by it all. I am being picked up by a friend in a hour to go out somewhere? She is not telling me where she is taking me too to have a rest from my stressful house.
Will let you know later what transpired.
Margaret, Waiting is always the hardest part. They don't seem to care that you have been fasting or not. It is just hard on the patient to do. By now I hope it has all been taken care of and you are back at home.
Mary, I will try and post my weight tomorrow. I know I am down again, and this is from watching my diet closly and also not eating properly. Not the greatest diet happening around here these days.
Dwayne, Any news about your DW and what they will be doing for her?
Miss seeing posts from the others, but I understand how everyone gets busy.
Hope all are well. Take care, Oh the garage sale is on Saturday. I am not ready or have the prices on things yet. Yikes...

Hi everyone. Thank you all for the well wishes. Now I'm in wait mode. The hospital called yesterday to say my appointment has been changed from 8;30 to 10;15 this morning. So I have to be fasted since midnight with no water either I'm going to find that very hard . So I have to keep busy before I leave to go.

I also weigh everyday. Sometimes it's a good thing and other times not so much. It can be very daunting at times.

Bernie, have fun with your GS today. Hope you have fun.

Mary, Your little guy sounds real cute. Every bit of walking you do is more then you did the day before so you know it's helping.

Dwayne, have you ever tried going on a protein diet for a week? It might help you to get back on track.

Linda, hope you are all packed up by now and that the closing on your house is scheduled soon.

Mary, I know it feels so good to be below 190. So happy for you.

Dwayne, hang in there and the scale will start going down again but it certainly seems to be a very slow battle some times.

Margaret, praying for good test results for you tomorrow.

You can track your weight every day on spark people and you can print out reports showing the graph of how you are doing.

Have you ever typed a long post on here and then hit a key and everything disappeared. Well, it just happened to me and I found my lost text by hitting the right side of the mouse and then clicking undo. Everything came back on the screen. Nice.

Good evening 48er's! Busy day at work today but with allot of laughs. My little client cried as I was leaving & didn't want me to go! Then acted like a cool kid & put his shades on so no one else would see his tears. LOL I love that kid.

Also walked a quarter of a mile this morning. I know it's not much but considering my track record with these knees, I figured at least it's a start!

Margaret, praying that all will go well tomorrow with good results/report. As far as the napping, maybe it's the time of year because I've been napping more also. Yesterday, 2 hrs in the recliner again! Was afraid it might keep me from sleeping last night but it didn't. Of course I've been up at 6:30 every morning for the past week so maybe that's why I'm more sleepy too.

Dwayne, we all have good intentions that sometimes fail us...lol Hey, I like the idea of using the spread sheet. I've been using a Word doc but think I'll have to set up a spread sheet to record our emoticon reports.

Friday will be our final report for this month, so any ideas or suggestions for our Nov. challenge would be welcomed.

Well my posting streak lasted ( drum roll please!!!) 1 DAY! How bad is that?!?!?!
So I start again today.

Margaret, I'll say a prayer for your exam tomorrow, but don't worry, it'll all be good...I know it. And you seem to be watching a lot of something with your eyes closed...LOL! I've had those times though, I sit down and BOOM; LIGHTS OUT! As for your frost and cold spell coming your way is something. Wish we'd get some of that here in So. Calif. Although they say it's going into the 70's this week-end so we'll see.

Mary, I weigh myself every day same time, same place, then record it on a spread sheet I keep that shows how I'm doing on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Gives me an idea when I'm going the wrong way, but somehow this plateau I'm on now just won't leave...
I enjoyed your story of your "perfect" day with church and family. How great.

Missing all our other '48ers' but as we all know, the days somehow get away from us.

Linda, hoping your packing and move is going smoothly for your and your "baby".

Bernie, Deana, Both Carolines, missing you guys.

No report for yesterday, sorry Mary, goofed that one up. By the by, what's our challenge for next month, or are we staying with our posting as we have been.

Hi everyone. Sorry for not posting the last few days. They just seem to get away from me and when I sat down to take a few minutes I ended up falling asleep. I'm not sure why but I think It's got something to do with my next exam at the hospital on Thursday. I seem to be very nervous about it . Everyone tells me it's nothing but I'm still very nervous about it.

Mary glad to hear your happy with the scale. I know we shouldn't weigh ourselves everyday but sometimes it does help us a long the way. I'm also guilty of stepping on the scale regularly as well.

I'm going to try to keep myself very busy today to keep my mind off tomorrow. Hopefully it will work.

ok so I'm on the emoticon "daily" ...can't help it. I am encouraged that the last 2 days the scale has said I've been at & below the 190 so I'm encouraged that it's going in the right direction. Trying hard to get it below & STAY below.

I know it's not enough for the day's total but I'll add a snack a little later.

Almost noon here and temps still in the lower 80s. Wow what a difference from the mid to high 90's we've been having. Expecting cooler weather coming in tomorrow. Not ready for cold but sure ready for cool!!! emoticon

Good day, church, nap, supper at DD's with grands & great grands. What more can one ask for?

Also got washing done & checks made out for tomorrow's mail. Got work tomorrow.

Scale this morning was encouraging. Been really trying to watch my calorie intake & adding fresh fruit to diet.

Dwayne, GS watched football today also but I don't care for it so he watched in his room while I slept. Perfect solution! emoticon

Linda, so glad you're having help to pack. Wish we were there to help you and to make memories that would warm you in the months ahead.

Remember to get enough rest and to eat a healthy meal. I have to wonder if you are doing that with the weight loss you are having. When do you leave? Remind me, are you scheduled to have more treatment or is that on hold for now? Praying that you remain well and that you and your "puppy" have a smooth transition to your new home.

Hi , I have been so busy packing etc. I forgot to sign in here with my weight. Just remembered after crawling into bed. Anyway I am down 1.5 lbs. emoticon Now at 160.5 Had a couple of friends helping me pack today which was really nice. Still so much to do, and I just get so tired so fast . Off to bed I go.

Hi everyone. Well it's an early weigh in for me as I had to have breakfast early or not until afternoon . I figured it was easier this way seeing I'm usually up anyway. Weigh in this morning sees me at 231 that's down pounds this week.

My grand daughter found a new daycare and GGS is quite happy about it. It's closer to her house as well.

Glad you are back Mary as we always miss you when you are away. Sorry to hear that you hurt yourself! Pictures do point out our weight status when we are feeling like it isn't all that bad. A picture of myself often increases my motivation.

Linda, so happy to hear about your house sekkubg. I look around at all my stuff and can't imagine downsizing more. We've downsized the last 2 moves yet I know I need to get rid of more. But back to you - praying that all goes smoothly for you as you make the move and look forward to hearing how it goes.

Dwayne, apparently you can eat as much crow as you like since it isn't listed in the calorie counter. LOL Although I would think it is an acquired taste. Go Bears!

Margaret, hope your granddaughter has found a better daycare.

Caroline, nice to see you post. Where will you be traveling to when you head out in your rig?

Hello everyone, sorry I have not been here to post since my return home Sunday night. I had a wonderful time at my nursing meeting until I hurt my other knee late Saturday afternoon requiring me to need a w/c to get through the airport Sunday during a very long trip home.Called MD early Monday to get appt for Tuesday & he injected it. Was in allot of pain but steroid shot did wonders along with 3 advils, 3 times a day. I was finally able to get back to work today but didn't do much of anything.

Just read through all the posts since I left & happy to see that Caroline checked in, Linda got an offer on the house, Bernie enjoying grands as well as Margaret, Dwayne eating crow & missed my presence, (thanks Dwayne), AZ Caroline, Celie, Deana & Agnes still missing & not very many posted weights last Friday but I've got them recorded!

ok, think I'm caught up for the most part. Will weigh-in tomorrow a.m. Today's weight was about the same as 2 weeks ago but we'll see. I;m drinking lots more water & did not snack in between meals while I was gone. From some of the pictures that were taken at the meeting, I SURE did to do something about this weight!

Hi everyone Happy 1st Day of emoticon .

Dwayne, hubby is still in the process of repairing his bike. We just got another piece in this afternoon that he needs. Hopefully it's the last one.

I have a hospital appointment tomorrow for a nuclear lung test. No biggy this week next week will be different as it's something I've never had done to me before . They are going to put a camera down my throat to check out the insides of the lung. Not looking forward to that.

We did a little walk today . Hopefully we can do a little more next week. My friend is having back problems and she has to go slow .

Happy 'Last Day Of Summer' to all you '48ers',

Good to see you're still with us Washington Caroline. And glad to hear you're maintaining. That can often be the hardest thing to do.

Yeah Margaret, my Bears got THUMPED! But there are other games, but the season in 2 games and we've lost our starting Quarterback isn't the way to begin. Still behind them no matter what. And I'm sure I'll eat more crow later this year.

Yesterday's #'s:

Just wanted to stop by to say hello. I have no idea where the weeks go. I thought about this group yesterday so I thought I would check in. Maintenance continues. I fluctuate a couple of pounds every week but always stay under 150lb. Already the summer is gone and the yard work seems to be a constant companion. Then we pack up sometime in November to head out in the rig for the winter. Life is good! Good to hear about everyone else. emoticon Caroline

Dwayne, I checked the calories in Crow but couldn't find it in the listing. LOL I don't watch sports but I would think they lost seeing your eating Crow. LOL Well there is always another game isn't there?

Today the morning was hectic but the afternoon was all mine to do nothing for a change. So you know I watched a little TV with my eyes closed .

YEEHAW! Way to go Linda! I'll be praying that it closes smoothly and your move goes even smoother. Sounds like your Realtor's replacement should have been your Realtor, but now that it's sold it's water under the old bridge. Just really happy for you and your baby.

Bernie, for me it looks like I'll be eating "Crow" as my poor Bears looked terrible. Oh well, once a Bears fan, always a Bears fan. But I did put my foot in my mouth big time on a couple replies to my blog. More "Crow". I'm gonna have to check out the nutrition section and get the calories, etc. on CROW!

Margaret, it sounds like the day care where your GD takes her child is run by a "flake" as I would call them. I mean really, texting people you'll be closing early, won't be opening?!?!?! Like Bernie said, suppose you work and you get a text to pick up your child in an hour and you don't get off work for 2 hours. It really sounds like someone doesn't know AND doesn't care about running their business. They figure they're too important, or when they lose 1 customer they get another. I mean after a while word gets out and they won't have any patrons and that's how it should be.

Good Morning, It is a terrible windy and rainy morning, but I am happy as last night I had an offer on the house. A single lady with kids made an offer which I excepted after going back and forth on the price. Now it just depends on her financing and the final inspection. All should be known by Oct 4th. Yeah. I am hoping all goes well with this, as I am planning on heading down on the 10th or so. Then I'll have to arrange for a mover or some help to get the rest of the stuff into storage cause I sure cant take much with me in the small quarters that I will be living in. Downsizing big time...
My realtor is away, so I have had a replacement doing the paperwork. Hope that she gets a cut cause she has done more than my person every did.
Today I will cancel some of my services to the house that I wont be needing. I already have my internet changed and will go on to my DD account as I am in her house. So much to do, but now it is getting exciting and not just scary.

So how did ém there Bears do, Dwayne?

I have my GS tomorrow. Margaret, hope your GD finds a good daycare soon. My GS goes to one M, W, & F. It is so well run I can't imagine getting a text from them that they are not going to be open, etc. That would be a nightmare for a working mom.

Linda, praying for your house to sell quickly.

Tomorrow my goal is to clean off my dining table. It has become a catchall for coming in from the garage and it will be a challenge to get it all put away. I seldom let this happen but the last several weeks "stuff" is piling up!

Hi everyone,

Had a very busy day yesterday. Didn't even see the day go by . The first time I looked at my watch it was 5pm. We had just been going and going like the energize bunny. Sorry I didn't post.

Today it will be babysitting GGS as my Grand daughter is looking for another daycare. The one he was going to likes to text the mothers while they are at work and tell them she is closing at 4 instead of at 6. Some days she sends a text in the morning to say she's not opening for the day. I don't think she knows how to run a business. Anyway she's looking into another one .

On Friday I have a test to take at the hospital . It's a nuclear test on the lungs. This one is a little different then the one they gave me before but they say it's the same type. I'll let you know.

Dwayne, has your wife had anymore news on her tests yet? It sure takes a long time down there to get anything done medical that is.

Linda, maybe the person that came a looking will be the one to buy your beautiful house.

Hi, Just me checking in. Open house only had one person who really just was looking. But I have someone looking at it tomorrow afternoon. Who knows....
Did alot of packing up today, and parting with alot of things. Lots of trips to the thrift store to get rid of the stuff.
Just heard from one of my daughters and she is going to come over to give me a hand with a garage sale that the whole road is doing Oct. 1st. Hope that day it is a nice one and not raining. Now I must price the things for that. Lots to do for sure.

Doesn't sound like the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I do understand listing on the Internet since there are a couple of websites that have everything about the houses, areas, etc. But maybe fliers or something to push it more. Linda, just hoping it all works out for you, as I know it will.

Hi everyone.

Linda, I was wondering if you signed a contract with your realistate agent? He doesn't seem to be to swift. I only hope he's not taking you for a ride.

I had a very busy day yesterday . Left the house at 5;30 again to go baby sit my GGS . Then took my friend shopping. Got home at 3;15 and thought I'd have a little rest but that didn't happen . Had a phone call from a friend and she wanted to meet up. So off I went again and got back home just in time to get a phone call from Hubby to be picked up . By the time I got home I was ready for bed. That's where I went seeing it was 8 pm. Today I'll stick to house cleaning and washing and that's all. LOL

Hi, It is a dark rainy day here. Not the greatest day for open house. Hope I have lots of people thru but not with dirty boots on.... I hope for a sale, but again he did not advertise in local real estate paper. Just online....
Off to walk dog and then get ready to leave the house again. I have been invited out for dinner tonight so that will be a nice visit and meal. Forgot to weigh in yesterday but I am down another .5 pound.

Good Friday Afternoon '48ers',

Sounds like those who've posted are keeping themselves busy. As for me, not so much.

My weigh-in for today is 217.9#'s. For me that's 4.1#'s DOWN for the week. Like I said for some reason, last Friday seemed to be a fluke. But I'll take the loss. At least I'm back on track for my next goal to be below 215#'s by the end of the month. I just need to work a little harder and be more consistent about what I eat.

Bernie, I so know what you mean about the day ending and you go to bed and think "What did I accomplish today?" and you come up empty. At least I do some nights and then I'm not happy with myself. I always have the best intentions but something always seems to come up, as I imagine it does for so many of you.

Yesterday's #'s:
Calories = 771
Carbs = 82g - 40% - goal below 30%
Fat = 21g - 23% - goal below 30%
Protein = 75g - goal of 75g's
Fiber = 27g - goal of 30g's
Steps = 4,252
Gym = SHORT Cardio workout
Reason for the short workout was I didn't gauge my time well. I always think "this will take this long, this will take this long" then in real life those "this' " are WAY OFF and I'm behind. Oh well, I still give myself a start for going to the gym on the way home and getting in a bit of a workout.

Margaret, I've got to say your beet jelly sounds delicious to me. I love those sweet, vinegary tasting foods.

Well I'm off; today has been a total bust so far; got up 4+ hours earlier than normal, then went back to bed after a couple hours and I slept WAY LATE. So I'll chalk this one up as a learning experience.

Hi all,
Margaret, I haven't heard of beet jelly either. Thanks for the recipe. I went to buy peaches today because they are locally grown and were down to .99 per pound but when I got to the store they had be picked too soon and were rock hard. I don't know if they would ever get ripe or just go bad before they ripened. It was very disappointing because I was going to freeze some and make some crockpot jam. I bought a couple to see if they will ripen but the sale will be over before I know. Ah well.

I took my grandson with me today to Bible Study and we go past his day care on the way. We wave to the day care as we go by. Today on our way home I decided I would make a quick turn and go by the bank. Immediately when I turned off his regular way home my grandson asked me, "Where are we going, Nana. This is not the way to mine's house." They are really so smart!

I don't know what I have been doing lately as the days go by and I feel I have gotten little accomplished on anything. I'm going to try to get back into my fall routine of regular bed time and some king of schedule to see if I can't start sleeping and feeling better along with feeling more motivated.

Dwayne, I have been procrastinating on so many things that I am experiencing a pile UP!

Well, guess I'll go make my bed so I can crawl in to it. My mother would be appalled!

Hi everyone. Sorry I didn't post yesterday the time just got away from me. I've been leaving the house at 5;30 to go and watch my GGS till he wakes up and then I take him to the day care. For a 3 1/2 he's a pretty smart cookie. The first day I took him I wasn't sure of where the house was but his mother said he'd tell me. Well I took him and every time I thought I was getting near to it I would ask him if it was here. He had this little smile on his face and he would tell me it was farther. He also kept telling me that he wanted to see grandpa meaning my hubby. So I kept driving. Finally I got to a place where I knew I had gone to far and I said to him that we had passed it . His answer was can we go see grandpa? The little devil took me on a wild goose chase. I made a u turn and headed back when I said no not today , when we were closer to the day care he told me that's where it was so I pulled in and as we were walking to the door his aunt came out to get him. He had the cutest smile on his face as if to say I tried to go to grandpas. I got a call last night and it was him crying on the phone he wanted to come to my house to sleep over. So I said yes of course and told him he would have to go to bed early because I was tired. He was in bed at 8 and I was in bed at 8;15. We had both had a long day. LOL

Linda, I hope your next open house will work better for you. Are you on the island of Vancouver or are you in BC? It's some beautiful land out there. For our 50th wedding anniversary next June the children want to pay our flights out there so we can visit. The only thing is they said we would have to promise to come back home. LOL

Dwayne, I hope the doctors get there act together soon for your wife.

Beet Jelly is very good. No Linda we didn't grow them ourselves but every fall they come on special. This year they were 20 pounds for 5$ . I had bought 15 pounds and a 5 pounds of carrots . The beet jelly is a little sweet and a little vinegary as well. It's very easy to do . Check it out for yourself.

2 cups of cooked mashed beets
3/4 cup of vinegar
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup of water
2 Tablespoons of cornstarch

boil vinegar, sugar, and water together for about a minute or two.
in a small amount of water mix your cornstarch until it's dissolved. Then add it to the mashed beets.
Add the mashed beets to the vinegar mixture and boil it for 5 minutes
Then bottle it. You can eat it with anything even in your salads. As long as you like beets you'll love this as well.

Ok that's enough on the cooking class.

Good Morning '48ers',

1st off, Linda at this point I'd be questioning the Realtor about what he's thinking?!?!?! Not doing more to advertise an Open House and the inconvenience it puts you and your baby puppy through. I know your dog isn't a puppy but I think of all dogs as puppies. Anyway, after the fiasco with the lights and house being left like it was, then this. I don't know. This is where my dander gets me into trouble and DW has to step in and handle it. I don't like to see anyone being taken advantage of because of their being a kind person.

Somehow Mary being at a convention and working and getting some rest doesn't seem to fit. She's the "Energizer Bunny" at times.

Margaret, I too have never heard of beet jelly. Sounds great though. Must be delicious if you're making that many jars of it.

Bernie,haven't seen you post recently?! Hope you're doing O.K. and Sarah's family are finding the faith and strength through this trying time. I know it's affected you as well and hope you're doing what you can to move through this..

Good Morning to all, Well the open house this past weekend was a total flop as he did not advertise it. Just put up a sign at the end of the road. Only one looky loo and that was it. He is advertising it for this upcoming weekend so maybe better luck then. I did have an agent take a couple thru last night but haven't heard anything yet.
Bernie, I got a chuckle out of what you said about the house looking better each time you sold. I know I have been doing more tidying up since the sign went up. Yikes I am so busy.
Today I am taking some time away to go on my ladies walk that has started back up again. We usually walk about 3K or a little more each time. I have my new fit bit on and have actually made my 10,000 steps most days. Now I need to get a move on to take dog out for her short walk...
Mary, I hope you have a good time away and get a little rest while there.
Margaret, I also have never heard of beet jelly. Is is a sweet jelly or more like a pickle ? You must have had lots of beets. Did you grow them yourselves?

How's everyone today? Me? Feeling my ol' spunky self again. Don't know what I had, but it passed so I'm back at it.

Mary have a safe trip to NC and if you miss your weigh-in, we'll forgive, since we've all had those occasions come up.

Margaret, sorry to hear of your DH's trials and tribulations getting his bike running again. He should get a connection with someone in Russia to get him parts. Hope he gets it rolling soon.

As for DW, back for another test, and then...who knows? We did let the Dr. know that the Surgeons's office seems to have dropped the ball somehow. The girl my wife's been talking with is also his operating asst.? Is that normal nowadays for your operating room asst. to work your office as well? I'd think give them 1 job and let them do that as best they can, don't overload them, because you've got peoples' lives hanging in the balance. Just saying, and I know a few of you are in the Health Care field so I just wondered if this was now the practice?!?!?!

Margaret, that's a lot of beet jelly! Truthfully, I have never heard of beet jelly before but I'll bet it's good!

Work day again tomorrow. I leave for NC early Thursday morning & will be gone till Sunday night. Will try to post when I can but not promising anything because it will be a busy few days for my nursing organization's annual meeting. Hi everyone how are you all doing?

Hubby got home at 1 a.m. He's been trying to get it going all day to no avail. So he has put in some calls to see if he can track down a coil for it. The only trouble with that is that it's a Russian bike and is a 2003 . They have parts on later models but his are harder to find.

I finished all my beet Jelly this afternoon. I made 10 recipes out of 15 pounds of beets. That will be it for me this year.

My girlfriend that I walk with is not able to walk this week she has pulled her back out and the doctor has said complete rest.

Dwayne, hope your wife gets some news today as to when she is likely to be done.

How did the open house go Linda? I hope you got an offer on your house.

Thanks for the wishes Mary. Feeling better today, but giving myself 1 extra day off. I may be getting lazy here?!?!?!

DW has Dr.s' appt. today so hoping to get him to push the Surgeon to do what needs to be done. For some reason, the Surgeon's office never calls her back and I'm getting really upset over it and don't want to lose my temper about it but it is my wife!

Margaret, sorry to hear of DH's breakdown. Waiting to hear the outcome.

Linda, hope you're doing well. How's the selling of your house going? Know that what's meant to be will happen. How did it go living with your DD during your illness? I don't know if that's a really good trial run but it does give everyone an idea of what's to come eh?

Hi everyone.

I finally got home this afternoon at about 3;30 and I had a great time with my sisters. We made 14 batches of beet jelly. They were both happy to have it done. I'll do mine sometime this week.

Hubby just called and he is stuck on the highway with his motorcycle. He got towed to the nearest garage and he's about an hour away from here. Our son and grandson are on their way to get him now. So if everything goes well he'll be here in about 2 hours I hope .

Discovered my error in trying to post yesterday. As usual it was my fault.

Hope all of you are well; as for me, a bit sick and not 100% so passing on the gym today. Don't want to be too far from a bathroom, soooooo. Will make it up with some house cleaning for DW during football which starts today.

O.K. with the carb since more than half of the totals were "good" carbs, veggies, fruit, so it was a pretty good day. Almost 3 hours in the gym too.

Well I'll sign off for now, don't know what to eat as I'm a bit hungry but don't want to upset the stomach. I'll figure out something gentle...

Linda, I totally understand as we were transferred a lot with my husband's company and each time we thought we would be there a while so we always begin fixing up our house. Durning one period we were transferred with 4 major moves in a 5 year span. Good thing my kids were younger as they adapted well. But my son who is the youngest said, "Why do our houses always look so much better when we move away than we we move in." So much work to keep everything just perfect to sell them. I'm praying yours sells quickly!

emoticon says 178 today so I am the same as last week. Very disappointing as 2 days ago it said 176 and I have been exercising and eating well. Have another weigh in tomorrow so hope I will be down at least a half a pound so I can change my ticker. Really going for 175.

Terrible tragedy with one of our friends. I can't quit crying. Her youngest daughter fell in the river on Monday and drowned. Memorial Service is Sunday. I feel so badly for loss of that beautiful sweet child and the for the entire family. I lost my dad to a drowning accident just when he retired and was on a trip to enjoy his golden years. I have never gotten over the nightmares of what he must have gone through and now I am feeling those same feelings for this innocent little four year old. Also, the shock the family must be in. If you would like to pray for her family with me her name is Sarah Emily De Ridder. Thank you.

Hi , Finally a minute to get to computer. My life is hectic now. Got home from staying down island yesterday afternoon, to find my house doors not locked and all the lights on. Guessing the realtor that showed the house did not lock up. Very upset and called my person. They came this morning and apoligized and said that should never have happened. Turns out that was a week ago , and so my hydro bill has gone way up with the lights all being on steady. Now they are going to do an Open House on this weekend both Sat. and Sunday so now I have to plan on being out somewhere with my dog. Not the easiest thing to do, when I am not feeling 100% yet,

This eating sensible for being diabetic does help with the weight and I am almost over my sugar craving. I am being careful as I sure don't want to feel that bad again .

Hi everyone. emoticon Friday. I was up 2 pounds from last Friday. I weighed in at 235. Not very good food choices and I was running around a lot and out for meals.

Will be gone again tomorrow and will be back on Sunday. I'm going to visit my sister again and help her make some beet Jelly.I was there today but I had a friend and another sister with me so I didn't stay . Tomorrow I will leave early and stay over so it won't be too much driving in one day again.

Good Morning '48ers',

Well weigh-in day for me is emoticon ! Today's weight was 222.3#'s! That's UP 5.7#'s which is so bad! Not 100% sure what went wrong? Been working out, but haven't eaten the best. Guess I'm taking in too many carbs?!?!?!

Yesterday's #'s:
Calories = 1,403
Carbs = 220g - 61% - I KNOW - WAY OVER MY LIMIT!
Fat = 37g - 23% - Finally below 30% - my goal
Protein = 58g - missed goal of 75g
Fiber = 32g - made my goal
Steps = 10,328 - made my 10K goal again!
Gym = Upper and cardio workout - 160 minutes

Well I'm off to the gym shortly. Trying not to let this weigh-in get me too down, just that frustration we all feel, as do so many others here on Spark, when we THINK we're doing the right things and it goes off the rails. All I can say is it's another weigh-in next Friday and hopefully it will be more in line. I did lose my Goal of being below 220#'s and my averages are still below for the week, but I want to get below 215#'s for this month - 1 of my goals.

emoticon all for the birthday wishes. Had a meeting this morning, the DH took me to lunch at our favorite place, a Greek & Lebanese restaurant. Was still too full to eat supper so we had a scoop of ice cream about 9 pm. Had a good day, Saw some of the family. NO cake! lol

My exercise minutes for Wed 120, Thurs 100.

Annual wellness visit today and realized it had actually been 2 years since I did one. Of course, that means the doc sends you for more tests. One interesting thing was when I asked her what my goal weight should be she said 160 for my weight and BMI as I had no idea what I really should be shooting for. Now I know.

Margaret, I am so sorry to hear about the cancer on your head. Is it skin cancer or some type of tumor? Please keep us posted.

Dwayne, it is always encouraging to see you post daily. I have good intentions but it just doesn't always seem to happen.

Linda, love the new picture. Your looking good. I hope you get some good news when you get back home.

Well it's my last doctor's appointment today. Then the hospital stay I had can be written off completely. It's a lung specialist as they said there was something on the lung they were not to sure off and they want an experts opinion .

The dermatologist called me yesterday to say the results came back for the biopsy and I have a cancer on the back of my head . So now I have to go and see a plastic surgeon to have it removed . I'll let you know when that happens.

Busy day today as hubby will be leaving for his weekend rally. I have to take my friend for an appointment then I go for mine and then my Grandson will be coming to see me before he leaves to go visit Germany. Boy I'm tired already and it's only 1;40 am. I think I'll try to go back to sleep. LOL

Hi, Well I had a wonderful day here with family for my birthday. Thank you for all my birthday wishes. I now have a fitbit so will have to get busy with my steps for each day. I will be heading home tomorrow morning. I don't know for how long, but will need to touch base with my realtor and see if he has done anything with my house, and why it is not selling.

We have been getting some very hot weather here. At 5 pm yesterday it was registering 40 c in the sun. We could barely breathe. They are announcing this weather all week . It's very strange weather for September.

I'll be getting my walk in early again today before the heat hits us. We have been improving. We are walking a bit more lately and sitting less so that's a good thing.

Good evening! It seems that I cannot get to log in & post till almost bedtime but at least I'm getting here. Just got off a 2 hr conference call to get ready for our annual nurses meeting next week. So looking forward to it but it is a little bittersweet as it will be to turn the reigns over to someone new taking over the position I have held for the past 4 years. But it's time & I'm grateful for the opportunity to have served. I've learned allot & have made some great friends in the process.

Worked a full day today & have to work again tomorrow. Did dishes, laundry, swept, doesn't quiet sound like a nursing job does it? LOL But my little guy deserves all the extra effort. He wasn't feeling well today.

Well I'll say good night so I can get some more done on my assignments for next week.

Morning '48ers',

Hope all are doing well. Sounds like Margaret and Mary had a fun-filled Labor Day. Here it was quiet.

Got in a couple walks for almost 2 hours worth and realized how different it is from the cardio in the gym. I don't use the treadmills, but I'm seeing what being retired has done TO me and I can't say it's good. I used to walk 2+ hours every day during my shift and didn't feel it in my legs like I am today. It's proof to me I need to get moving more and do more, either around the house cleaning for DW or just walking. Trust me, I'm not going to accept this.

Mary, my disappointment with Toyota comes from years ago when they were having the issues with "Mystery acceleration" and after several months they came out and said in a study they had conducted that people OVER 50 were at fault in the vast majority of those crashes by hitting the gas and not the brake. I felt slighted that they put it on people because of their age. And I've never come back to them in any way. Sorry for the "Soapbox Lecture" and glad that you enjoy your cars and they're working out well for you.

Yesterday's #'s:
Calories = 1609 -
Carbs = 142g - 34% - again went over my goals
Fat = 73g - 40% - also over goals
Protein = 104g - made my goal
Fiber = 36g - made this goal too!
Steps = 7,576 - still off my goal

Going to do some cleaning for DW then hit the gym later for some cardio and stretching. Hopefully tomorrow be back on my normal workout routine so with that I'll sign off...

Hi everyone. Well life should be back to normal today with all the holidays out of the way for a while.

Had a good day yesterday got in my walk and helped my DD hang a lot of photos with a lot of measuring . When I got home I managed to get all the washing done and hung outside. That was more exercise seeing it was up and down stairs quite a few times. LOL every bit helps. Then I managed to get in a snooze and what do you know the day was finished again.

Today going for our walk earlier then normal as my friend has an appointment to go to. I plan to clean the house when I get home and make muffins for hubby.

Happy Labor Day ya'll!

We drove back home today. 10 & 1/2 hrs on the road. The last 2 hrs mostly in the rain but safe trip. Tired. Eating was not good today. Have not tracked but had a BK burger for lunch & about 1 cup of lo mien noodles for supper. 3 cups of coffee & 1 small diet soda all day. Working on getting some fluids in now that we're home.

Margaret, I had a Hyundai Sonata back in the early 90's & loved it. It was not a hybrid but did make good gas mileage.

Dwayne, we're now a Toyota family. DH drives our 05 Camary with now over 250K miles on it & still going strong. I drive our 2011 Highlander & I have about 112K on it.

Well, it's going to be an early night for me as tired as I am because it's going to be an early work day tomorrow. And I've GOT to go renew my license this week.

Happy Labor Day '48ers',

Hoping everyone is enjoying their day. Kind of quiet for me today. DD-i-L made some pulled pork yesterday so that will be dinner along with DW's potatoes and tomatoes. I'll just have a little of the pork and save the potatoes for tomorrow AM. I really try to limit carbs later in the day and it seems to work for me, so I gotta go with it. I just need to get them down more and potatoes, good for me or not, keep me on the high side.

Margaret, I'm Googling to see how many miles you've gone. From what you posted you've gone about 373 minles on half=a-tank of gas?!?!?! That is AMAZING mileage. DW wants a hybrid for our next car and with this recommendation well that will just confirm it. Just hoping they come out with some Hondas that are larger with the hybrid option. That's our car of choice. The van we've got has gone 373,000 miles with really no issues other than a new transmission some 8-9 years ago. Nothing major since.

Yesterday's #'s:
Calories = 1140 - a little low for me; just not too hungry?
Carbs = 65g - 23% - O.K. but would like g's down below 50
Fat = 54g - 43% - I know, too high
Protein = 101g - O.K.
Fiber = 18g - Missed my goal of 30g's or better
Steps = 6,128 - can't seem to crack the 10,000 steps as often as I used to?!?!?!
Gym = Cardio Workout

Well, I'm off to take a walk to the Pharmacy - will give me about a mile or so, to pick up DW's Rx, then hopefully this PM will get to the gym for more cardio...

Hi everyone. Didn't do to much yesterday except go and see our friends . Her hubby lost his mom that morning who was 92. She had a very full life and will be missed.

The rest of the day was on the road traveling to get back home again. Did I tell you I love my new car. The gas consumption is great on it. We have used a little more the half a tank of gas and we have over 660 klm. done so far. I want to see how many klm I can get on a tank of gas.

Today I'm going for my walk and then meeting up with friends for coffee. Then back home to do washing and cleaning. That will be my exercise for the day.

Hi everyone. Sorry I didn't post yesterday. It was one of those days. I was out and on the road at 6;30 am and picked up one of my friends and we went to a big fair which is held every Labour Day weekend in Brome which is about 2 hours away from us. We meet up with family and friends when we get there and we have a great day of it. A lot of walking and laughing and watching the horse shows as well. I finally got another good picture of my 3 favorite little ones together so I'll be posting it on my page. With the heat and I guess our age we didn't stay as long as we usually do but we had a great time.

Today we are planning to go and see our closest friends. We don't get to go as often as we would like but when we get together it's as if we have never been apart.

The new car is fantastic. We are enjoying the ride very much. Hubby still hasn't had a try at the wheel yet but maybe today for a little bit.LOL

Forgot to weigh in yesterday. I'm at 178 emoticon .

My mini goal is to be at 175 by month's end and stay below it through the holiday season. Yes! It will be here all too soon. My long term goal is to reach 170 and maintain for at least a month to see if I need to drop more.

My biggest problem is exercise. Would it be okay if I post my exercise minutes daily throughout September instead of a meal.

Happy Saturday going into Labor Day to you '48ers'.

Hope everyone's doing well and riding out the storms on the East Coast or the earthquakes in the Midwest. All here in So. Calif. is hot and dry and a couple fires burning away.

For yesterday my counts were:
Calories = 2196 - WAY OVER MY LIMIT!
Carbs = 209g - 37% - again way over
Fat = 114g - 46% - and still over
Protein = 101g
Fiber = 37g
Steps = 8,276
Gym = Core and Cardio Workout

Margaret, you asked about the dog I added to the photo since I figured I had to show something other than a shadow. He's a Maltese and he was a rescue dog that we got. He was "supposed" to be for me to make up for a little chihuahua we'd lost a few years before. They got a chihuahua from a friend who bought it in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart from someone who looked really in bad shape, or so I was told. Anyway, that one attached to my DD-i-L so she's now her dog. The little Maltese has really attached to my DW so that's O.K. with me also. She's a cat lover but LOVES all animals. I told them, my DS's and all that from now on let ME choose the dog O.K.?!?!?!? The guy in the photo is "Prince Falkor The Little Dude" but we just call him Dude! When he lays on his back for belly-rubs his ears flop back and the pink of them with no hair reminded us of Falkor in "Never Ending Story" so that's how he got the name. Whew! I just wrote a novel I feel like.

Off to the gym shortly; going late, so it'll mostly be Cardio, a Back machine, then some stretches.

Hi everyone, My starting weight this month is 232 the same as last week.

Dwayne, emoticon good going on 3.2down this week. Keep up the good work. Is that your little guy you have in the photo. It looks like a Shiztue is that what it is? I don't know if I spelt it right but hopefully you get the jest of it.

Mary I'll try with entering one meal per day. Hopefully I remember .

Morning '48ers',

Well it's September and I feel like I've gotten a new start for some unknown reason. Just working to keep this attitude moving forward and passing it on to others.

Weight for me today is 216.6#'s; down 3.2#'s from last Friday so I'll take that and I did make 1 of my 2 goals for the month. Came close to getting to the second goal, but you know what they say about close?!?!?!

Mary, sounds good to me reporting on meals. I'll start posting my calories for the day and what I've done for a workout. That does keep me aware of when I'm going off on different groups like carbs and fats. Thanks also for posting the upcoming birthdays

Good Morning! First Friday of September finds DH & I in Arkansas visiting with his sister who is not well. We decided it was better for us to do a short visit now & then come back in another couple of months. We timed it just right because we are enjoying the cooler weather...especially this morning when the temps are down in the 60's while it's 13 degrees warmer back home.

Anyway, no emoticon available for me to report this morning. That also means that I failed to reach my mini goal of being down below the 190 mark by this week but I will keep trying. At least I did SEE it a couple of times even though it went right back up.

I will be using last week's weights as the starting point for this month's challenge. I'd like to see us back to reporting at least one meal a day to be accountable to each other. If we fail in something, being accountable for it may also be a good way to help avoiding it again. Just an idea. What are some thoughts on that?

September also brings 2 birthdays next week. Linda on the 7th & mine on the 8th. Hard to believe some days that we turn 68 this year & that the year is almost to the end already!

Welcome September and I can't say I'm sad to see August go. Wasn't the best month of the year is all I'll say.

Won't forget to weigh in tomorrow. I'm comin' to challenge you Margaret and all the rest of the '48ers'. Got my goals set for the month and working towards it.

Does anyone know how I can rotate a photo I inserted for my webpage? It was upright when I copied it and was twisted sideways when I saw it. Don't know what I did wrong?

Good Afternoon '48ers',

Linda, so glad to hear you're doing so much better. You are so right in commenting how this will be a good "Trial Run" to see how it goes. Who knows, they may not want you to ever leave! I'll just keep praying for the best for you and all of you '48ers'. How's your baby puppy doing in her new home? Accepting it and the changes O.K. I hope.

Bernie you are so right. When I don't do what I know I should do I look back and mentally "Kick myself in the backside" and wonder "What was I thinking?". They say that you can learn from this and boy, I must be a real slow learner; like maple sap in January!

Had the worst night's sleep ever last night I can remember. Think I only got about 2-3 hours sleep and just tossed and turned. Margaret, was going to do what you said, but never got up to do it. How bad is that? Oh well, I imagine tonight I'll pass right out. DW still waiting to hear SOMETHING from the Cardio Surgeon. She called again today to speak with him and got sent to a voice mail, so we'll see where this plays out.

Glad to see this month come to an end since for me it's been probably my worst month, performance wise, this year. Going to work really hard on the mental aspect of how I let things get to me. Anyone got any suggestions? All are welcome.

And Mary, what's our challenges going to be for this coming month? I'll be adding 2 personal goals for myself to what you give us. So here's to all of us to achieve our best in the month ahead.

And with that I'll sign off. I've got to run a couple errands.

Good morning to all, thanks for all the prayers of good wishes. I am doing much better today . I have vacuumed all the main floor of DD house where we were staying of all my dogs floating hair. We have moved downstairs to where I plan on making my new home. Trying to get my old dog to realize she has to stay down here. Still don't know when it will work out to go to my place and pick up a few more things that I need so that I not in their way all the time . This is sure a good trial run to see if this arrangement will work out for all of us.
Margaret. Your new car sounds lovely. Bet you can't wait to drive it.

Margaret, so happy to hear about your new car. Isn't it nice!!!

Dwayne, yaw, I tend to beat myself up over not doing the things I "should" do and don't. But then I look at where I started on this journey and have to feel good about how far I've come even though it seems slow going at times. Just watched a video about an 82 year old nun who has been doing Iron Man Triathlons! Wow! Now that really makes you realize the potential we have if we were so determined and focused.

Had my 3 year old GS today. My DH and I were having a hard time keeping a straight face at some of his comments, singing and play. We had a wonderful time spending the day with such a sweet little character. Such an imagination he has!

Good Morning '48ers',

Linda, hoping you're doing O.K. and continuing to keep you in my prayers. You've got all of us praying and pulling for you to get well really soon. Enjoy as best you can the time with your family.

Mary hope you're doing O.K. there with the flooding. Has it receded a lot or are there still issues. Hearing so much about the damage and it seems like so little is being done, except by the residents of the area. Any idea on how many homes in your area were damaged? Keep us informed.

Deana, hope you're doing O.K. with those approaching storms. Hearing that one may come onto land somewhere around the Carolinas. Don't know if you'll see any rain from it. Hoping it's nothing serious. I think we've had enough for a while.

So you got a new car Margaret. Congratulations, and enjoy it. Going with a hybrid is a great thing. A lot of people try to talk them down but I think they're great and wish more models were made as hybrids.

Well, I've rambled on enough, time to get ready for the gym before I mentally talk myself out of going. Do any of you have that problem? Looking for excuses not to work out? Just feel like I'm letting myself down when I don't go and get my workouts in. Anyway, will write tomorrow God willing, take care everyone...

Linda, sorry you've had a ruff time of it. But I'm happy your with your family now. Prayers are coming your way for a speedy recovery. Maybe your house will sell while your away. You can always hope. emoticon

Celie, emoticon on your 4 pounds loss this month your goodie will be on it's way as soon as I finish this post.

I had a very interesting day yesterday. Hubby and I went to our Hyundai dealer and walked out owning a 2016 Sonata Hybrid car. We have been on a high ever since. We have wanted a hybrid car since they have been on the market so we are very happy. It's a very smooth and quiet ride which will save a lot of gas. We will be able to do 1200klm. per fill up . I'm over the moon right now. We should have possession on Wednesday.

Thanks for all my new goodies. Mary the runners will help me keep up with the new trainer that Bernie sent me and that will get my heart rate monitor that Dwayne sent me a good test. Thanks again.

Good Evening '48ers',

First off, so sorry to hear of your situation Linda. Know prayers are coming your way for a speedy recovery. You sound so miserable, but at least you're with family so do the best you can. As for the restrictive diet, that's something most of us should probably be on. As for your life being a mess, it's just one of those "speed bumps" in life we all experience. Before you know it you'll be on the other side of the issue, look back and think "What was I thinking?!?!?!".

Congratulations to you WA Celie. Goodie is on the way. Enjoy and keep up the good work.

Here it's still hot and just waiting for some break in this weather. I know you folks on the East Coast and you Mary in the middle of all the flooding are still having issues with the weather. Know I'm thinking of you all often and praying for calm for you all.

Hi, I am doing this from my new phone and am finding it awkward.
Congrats Margaret for the biggest loser this month, and also the rest of the losers. I have just got out of hospital two days ago. Ended up going in last wed by ambulance . Then transferred to the hospital in Victoria which is closer to my kids. Had acute pancreatitis .
Not pleasant at all. Now I have to stay here for at least a week and my house and all belongings are not near to me. My life is in a mess. Feeling better now but on arestrictive diet. Down to emoticon 163. If I can figure it out I will change my ticker.
