Good afternoon everyone.

Mary and Agnes we had a lovely time at our breakfast. I met up with old neighbours we hadn't seen in years along with the club. We go to the Knights of Colombus they put on a breakfast every week they charge 5$ for eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes , beans, and toast and coffee. So it's a win, win situation as it helps them out and we enjoy the cheap breakfast. They donate also to different charities .

I went shopping with my friend . We also met up with another of our friends for breakfast. Hubby has gone to the garage to get his car fixed so that will be out of the way. Hoping it doesn't cost to much.

I'm trying not to think of the biopsy tomorrow so keeping myself busy around the house.

I check back in tomorrow when I get home.

Hugs Margaret

Hello all, good to be able to read posts & catch up with everyone. We've had a quiet day. DH's coughing was so bad this morning during church. Will hopefully get him back to the dr this week. Mine is a little better today.

Margaret, Praying for you as you have the biopsy done on Tuesday. Hope the breakfast meeting was a good distraction for you this morning. Wish I could help you with information about the procedure but there are 2 different ways to do the biopsy. Regardless, they should be able to medicate you for the pain.

Agnes, your morning breakfast meeting sounds lovely. Hope you enjoyed it.
Mom2LJ, emoticon on losing those extra lbs! I did mark them down & recorded your BD as well. I guess having a birthday on Mother's Day some years is kinna like having one near Christmas, gifts come as a combined in one, eh? Not that we expect more, especially as we get older.

Dwayne, Hope that coughing improves soon. It's the pits, I know. Poor DH couldn't finish his sermon this morning. We've also been sucking on Halls Defence Vitamin C Drops all week. They help some too along with the Hall's cough drops. Hope your DW is not getting sick too.

Marilyn, praying that you & your family feel better soon!

Mary

Good Morning '48ers,

Just a short note checking in since I missed yesterday. Cough is still here and I'm self-medicating it with Day or Ny-Quil and cough drops. Suppresses it for a little while so I'm trying to stay on it til I get to the Dr. on Wednesday.

Praying and hoping all of you have a Blessed Sunday...

Til next time,
Carpe Diem,
Dwayne

MFLOYD6; Yes! I lost the 3 pounds I had put on plus .25. Happy. My dob is may 10th. I was born on mother's day lol

Was looking at my weight on December 31rst and only lost .75 pounds. I have lost 1 3/8 inches so far in the same length of time. So I was told muscles weigh more and this is why the scale isn't showing a drastic change. DH told me yesterday that I don't look so thick around the waist.

I have set some mini-goals for this week. I'm doing better with going to bed by 11pm.. no more 2 - 3 am for me. Last night was 10pm! I'm also more active at housework, even dh noticed! And of course the gym 3-4 times a week and bowling 3 times a week as well. Oh and there's the water drinking too Keeping these as this weeks mini-goal plus stop eating when not hungry - not necessarily clean my plate,,,,

I hope everybody is doing good or should I say better. Some of you are in my prayers....

HI All,

I am leaving soon to join some friends for a breakfast in a nearby town. It's a lovely event every Sunday morning. The food is simple: oatmeal and fixings, juice, coffee, and muffins. It is prepared by volunteers. There are usually local volunteer musicians who play their instruments. It is a pay what and if you wish meal, which means that all are welcome no matter their ability to pay. The payment is in a jar that is discretely placed. A nice way to welcome all in the community to join together. The tables are set out so that it is easy to get to know new people. I've been a couple of times before and it is very pleasant.

I see all are still dealing with health issues. We have a serious flu season here as well, and I am hoping that hand washing and being careful will help me not get it.

Margaret, maybe you can call the doctor's office tomorrow and find out more about the procedure and what to expect. There should be someone there who can give you some information. I know I always feel better when I have some idea of what is going to happen.

All, hope you have a pleasant day.

Best,
Agnes

Good morning everyone.

Mary and Dwayne, I hope the doctor gives you something more for your cough. It seems to be dragging.

Marilyn, I hope you only have a mild case of the flu. It seems to be pretty strong this year. My friend had it for 14 days and she was still coughing for another 2 weeks after.

Bernie, What was your mini goal weight that you wanted to be for the wedding?

It's our monthly breakfast with our motorcycle club this morning. It will be nice to see everyone after the holidays. Other then that it will be another quiet day . Getting pretty anxious about the biopsy . The worse thing about that is that I have no idea what they will do to me. Oh well it will be over and done with on Tuesday.

Hope you all have a great Sunday.

Hugs Margaret

It was no surprise that the scale was up by 0.6 lb this morning. Just finished catching up on recording the weights. Just missing Deana's for the week.

MomtoLJ, I'll check on your tomorrow. BTW, when is your birthday?

Hope all with colds & coughs feel better soon. DH & I are both still coughing & I have been wheezing some at night, especially. I go back to dr this week.

Didn't get much of anything done today. Hoping to get some washing done tomorrow afternoon.

Good morning everyone.

Mary glad to hear your home safe and sound. Sorry to hear about your aunt that isn't doing so well . I'll keep her in my prayers that she gets better soon.

Agnes, how was the show you went to last night? I hope you got good news from your eye exam. I'm with you as far as winter is concern. We have definitely had enough of Old Man Winter.

Dwayne, I hope your cough leaves you soon. Have you tried the Vicks on your feet yet?

Marilyn, I hope your family get well soon.

I got a call from the hospital yesterday and the biopsy is being done on Tuesday morning. Now the butterflies have really started in my stomach. I'm not looking forward to it at all. I have to be there for 7;30 am and they said it would take most of the day. So I'll keep you posted.
Today we are in the pluses and we are going to stay there for the weekend. Hoping to get a few groceries done but that's about all . I'm still on medication for my neck so I can't go far from home.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Hugs Margaret

Hello dear 48ers! DH & I are back home & had a time of rest away from all distractions. We were both not feeling well so the rest was good for us. I had hoped to stay in touch on my phone but the reception was not good so I gave up on that.

Did make it to Waco finally yesterday and found my aunt's health is declining fast. This morning she had a really bad spell, fainted while up in BR. Her pressure dropped. She's so weak, hardly eating, coughing & running fever. The Long Term Care Home where she is has a flu epidemic in progress So I'm really concerned. She has always been like my 2nd Mom & is 87 now.

Anyway, wanted to drop in & say I'm back. Will get my weight in the morning & report, then will get my records updated with last week & this week's reports. Will try to catch up with all of you then.

Good Morning '48ers,

Well, weight for me is 244.53#'s which is up 3+#'s and not happy about it. My appetite is back but this cough limits me doing much and it's so annoying. Going to see the Dr. next week.

Agnes, enjoy your night out.

Margaret, great job on staying the same, goodie on it's way...

MOMTOLJ, sounds like you're staying on track with your workout plan which is great. It gives you that mental feeling of being successful and will get you to your goals sooner. Keep at it...

Marilyn, hope you're feeling better and was wondering what oils you use for the congestion and coughing?

Mary, Bernie, Deana, GloriaZ, I know you're all out there and hope you're all well.

Have a great week-end and enjoy...

Til next time,
Carpe Diem,
Dwayne

Hi Everyone,

My weight is the same, too, and that's good. DH had cataract surgery on his other eye yesterday, and all went well. We're tired of the winter, but trying to keep our spirits up with lots of indoor activities and a few forays into the cold and snow. Today I go the Y for my exercise class and will also walk on their indoor track around the basketball court. Then, off to the eye doctor for a check for my husband and for me. Then a rare evening out for a performance of fiddle music by local musicians.

Hope that everyone who is feeling under the weather starts feeling better soon.

Best,
Agnes

Taking control isn't easy but doable. I watch less tv and less computer time and more activity so overall I'm pleased with my progress een if the scale isn't showing what I would like -lol

Hope you are all doing well.

Hubby is slowly getting better - yesterday he was up and around rather than sleeping all day but he is still very tired.

Daughter is stuffed and though she doesn't complain I know she is not feeling well have doctored her up with lot of my oils to help control the cold and get it out of her system before it takes over more

I am down with the cold also - coughing and feeling tired.

Guess we might as well get it all overwith at one time - just don't like how I am feeling - don't like all the flem that builds up but thankfully one of my oils breaks this down real fast so that helps.

Otherwise doing well - still on track with food but making it more liquid like soup with veggs rather than other cooked food

Take care everyone

Good Morning '48ers,

Sorry for being MIA the past couple days, but been a bit busy taking DW to Dr.s' appts. and anything else she wants to do. Me, still coughing and some days it's better than others, but can't shake this cough. I've even been taking naps during the day which is not usual for me. I'm just coping best I can.

Marilyn, sorry to hear your DH and DD may be coming down with the flu. I know how your DH feels because I usually get sick only about once every 3 years or so. Been lucky like that, but I'm a 'lousy' patient when I am sick. I just want to be left alone and I hate being a burden on anyone. Especially DW now with her condition. Hope they're both feeling better soon. You take care of yourself as well. Marilyn, prayers to your nephew for a swift recovery...

Agnes, hope all is going well for your DH after his surgery. Wow, can't believe all the snow and cold weather I'm reading about from all of you. Here in So. Calif. if it hits 40 you'd think the end of the world was at hand. Just too spoiled with this kind of weather. DW loves the cold and she's a native! I'm Iowa born so I remember the snow and 'snow days' when school closed and guess what...Mom sent us out to play in it! Go figure... Just praying all of you are keeping warm and safe through it all. Hope you're getting the relief and answers to your knee and neck issues. Great job on getting into the exercise classes and being smart about what you were doing and not doing anything that might aggravate your knee.

Deana, you are awesome with the # of steps you get in every day. I've got to get back to it as soon as I get well to give you a 'run for your money' on the steps. I think you may have a little advantage, but I'm going to try. Keep at it young lady and great job on the weight loss.

Bernie, glad to see you're on the 'losing' side of the scale this week. Hope all is well with you and yours. How's your friend Barb doing? Hope all is well.

Mary, didn't see a post from you but as I recall you didn't have your laptop so waiting to hear from you. Hope you and DH are enjoying yourselves and that you're feeling better.

Wow, just scrolled down to my last post and didn't realize I'd been off the board so long. Forgive me, but just not feeling good, running around and all has taken it's toll. Hoping to do better. Know that my prayers are there for all of you each day...

Til next time,
Carpe Diem,
Dwayne

Hi All,

It's a good day here. The sun is out and the snow is heavy on the trees. Looks like we got about 12 inches.

My DH's 2nd cataract surgery was this morning. All went well, but I feel like I've worked a full day already with the 1 h drive to and from the surgery center etc.

Margaret, It's good that you are getting the help you need for your neck, back and knee. Hope all improves soon.

Best,
Agnes

Hi everyone.

Went back to the doctor for a follow up and the pain isn't as bad as it was but I still have to take the medication till Sunday. She also had me go for an x-ray on my knee which has been bothering me. Had that done on the way home so now we wait to see what is what with that.

I hope your all having a good day.

Hi everyone.

Today was another quiet day. not eating much but the scale isn't being nice seeing i'm not doing any exercise. I woke up with a sore back to go along with the sore neck. I go to the doctors tomorrow so we will see what she has to say. The pills she gave me make me sleep a lot and when I'm awake I'm dopey. LOL

Agnes, no snow for us this time. We are suppose to get it on Monday. In fact we are going to have nice weather over the weekend so that will be nice.

Marilyn, Your thought for the day is very much what my friend always says. She lives in Vancouver and is always rubbing it in that she doesn't have much snow up there.

Mothertolj sounds like your doing something right. Keep up the good work.

Dwayne, hope your feeling better.

Mary hope your enjoying your trip with your hubby.

Hope you all had a good day.

Hope you are all doing well. Hubby came down with the flu - He went to bed Monday night at 10, made many trips to the bathroom, spent all of yesterday either sleeping or in the bathroom but no bathroom trips last night. He got up this morning at 7 am had a little cereal and went back to bed - it is now 10 am and he is still sleeping - best way to get rid of it but seems so strange for him to be down for the count this long. And now daughter is acting like she might be coming down with it - though she is waiting to go out with one of her workers so hopefully she will have a good few hours - don't like seeing either of them sick but more so my daughter as with her handicap she doesn't get what is happening and just looks at me as if I should make her better.

Am working on having another great week - am on track for meeting my goals for January and feel so good about that

Well have to run as hubby is calling - take care

Last week in two days I had a significant weight increase, Lost it back so it must have been water retention....

I have set a mini goal to lose a pound from now to Sunday. Doable!. Another goal is less TV and more activity.

Margret 3; hope you feel better soon!

Margrets69; hope your son-in-law will do better real soon. We had a son with esophagus cancer with a rate of 5% survival. We kept positive and prayed. Dying was not an option for us and we fought for him when he couldn't 8 years later, he works and is well,,,, he will never be what he was but has a good quality of life.

Hope all have a nice day!

Hi All,

Snowing here - as predicted and as it is in a lot of places on the east coast. DH just went out to pick up a few things, and tells me the roads are ok, just need to drive slowly. I may decide to go to the art class. We'll see.

Margaret, hope your neck is feeling a little better. All who are dealing with health issues, do take care.

Best,

Hi everyone. Just another short note. Neck is still giving me a run for my money. I had a little more freedom today compared to yesterday but still having to take it very slow. Walking is almost non existing as I can't move very well without being in pain. I sure hope the medication kicks in and gets me back on my feet.

Marilyn, emoticon on your weight loss. Keep up the good work. Hope your hubby is feeling better soon.

Agnes, Hope you don't get much snow this time. It's nice to see but it should only fall on the sky sloops. LOL

Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Am celebrating today - down another 1.6 pounds making a total of 2.8 for the month so far (started January at 275.6 and today am at 273.2) Feel so good

Down side is hubby is down for the count - he was not feeling up to par yesterday but today he definitely sick - and he usually doesn't get sick like this - he has made more bathroom stops so far today - feel so sorry for him - just before getting on here he called out - was in the bathroom and thought he was going to pass out - got him back to the bad with a wet cloth for head and a bucket in case it changes from the toilet to the bucket. So hard to see him like this because in 34 years marriage I have only seen hi sick once - and he never upchucked just slept if off in 24 hours.

Am keeping our daughter away from him as that is all I need is for her to get sick as we go through more bedding in one day when she gets the flu.

So we have 2 more weeks to go before the end of the month - how have you done so far and what would you like to see for the rest of the month.

Goal for January is to lose 4 - 5 pounds in the month which means in the next 2 weeks I need to lose 2.2 pounds or 1.1 each of those 2 weeks = I do believe that is doable so am really going to take care with my choices and make sure I get in my walking

Well need to go - treadmill is calling my name and need to make sure hubby is ok

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope that those of you who are dealing with health issues start to recover and get some relieve. Margaret, the neck pain sounds awful.Mary, Dwayne, I hope your colds/flus go far away. My knee is doing very well. I went to a super beginner exercise class at the YMCA, and did fine. I only did what seemed ok, and avoided the exercises that might hurt my knee. It's a process, but I know I'll get there.

Today will be fairly quiet as we get ready for another snow storm that will arrive tomorrow morning. I'm hoping that it's not too intense as I'd like to go to my art class and to the Y tomorrow.

Take care,

Agnes

Sorry so late checking in . I've been at the doctors most of the day for an emergency visit. I woke up this morning with a stiff neck resulting in not being able to move properly. She gave me medication to relax the muscles hopefully that will help. As it is right now there is no improvement.

I can't stay long in one passion so Ill check back in tomorrow.

Hope you all had a very nice day.

Hugs Margaret

Hope all of you are having a great Monday. In my part of the world it is overcast and cold so plans are to stay inside today - so looking forward to the warmer weather so I can be out more

Food and exercise plan is going well. Tomorrow at TOPS I will be officially weighed but according to my scale I am down - so am looking forward to seeing what their scale will say.

Have a sore food - been sore for about a week or so - so think it is time for the doc to have a look at it - if I did not have diabetes it wouldn't concern me so but with diabetes you have to be so careful with feet.

Think both hubby and daughter are feeling a bit under the weather as they are both acting a bit 'sick' today - not quite themselves. So am doctoring them up with some of my oils to help whatever they are battling to leave.

My precious nephew David (age 45, married with 2 children youngest being 10) was diagnosed in November with a rare kind of cancer. He has had 2 chemo treatments which seemed to help though they say that this cancer chemo usually doesn't work. Unfortunately my sister (his mother) called this morning to say that he is suffering as ne now has the flu ( he had lost 75 pounds in 3 months due to the cancer) and now having this flue is not good. We are all so concerned for him - he is in stage 4 of this cancer which is not good - but we are praying for a miracle and trusting in the Lord to take care of Dave during this stressful time.

Celebrated our youngest daughters birthday - now we get to do 3 in February - our youngest granddaughter is turning 11 on Feb 1, her dad is turning 30 on February 7 and then mine right after that - so it is a 'birthday month' for sure.

Well, timer is about to go off telling me it is time to get up and walk - so will sign off now - please know that I am thinking of all of you and praying that you are all doing well.

Good Morning All,

Marilyn, I love the photo and caption on your post. My German Shepard would do the same.

Margaret, the first day of the art class, we did a paper collage by cutting out colored paper into different shape and pasting them onto a piece of paper. Then we needed to draw/copy it on a different piece of paper with a regular pencil. Harder than it seems! Homework is for us to draw a picture of three leaves of different shapes and sizes. I'm enjoying it. It takes all my concentration to do it, and that's a good thing.

MOMTOLJ, Sounds like you're on the right track to reach your goals. Consistency, not giving up, is the key I think.

Bernie, Congratulations on the weight loss. You are doing great.

Deana, I'll be thrilled when I can walk 10,000 steps daily. You continue to be an inspiration.

Mary and Dwayne, Please do take care of yourselves. These winter colds and flus are very difficult.

Hope you all have a good Monday. I have a work meeting, then going to the YMCA for an easy fitness class, then an afternoon at home with some chores and a visit from a friend.

Best,
Agnes

Hope you are all having a great day - mine has gone well.

Church was good - another great message on Ruth chapter 3. And then we went to lunch with friends who arrived Saturday and are here till Wednesday. Was nice seeing them and getting caught up with them - her father passed away 3 days before her birthday and then they had to have the memorial on Dec 23 in order that all the family could be there - and then last week her mom who is in her late 80's fell and broke a hip. So she is having a difficult time

Looking forward to getting weighed on Tuesday as I am sure I am down another pound - from what my scales says I should be anyway.

Well, it is very overcast and cold - think we might have a dump of snow - again - overnight - am glad we are now on the down side of January as it will only get better weather wise - hope so anyway.

Take care

LCDDUB I didn't know I had to do more strength than cardio! What a surprise! Thank you for the advice

MARGARET3 I put on 3.5 pounds in 2 days.... I will not let this deter me. I think it's either or both, my increase of water intake and increase of gym activities....Muscles weigh more than fat.... hummmm

I have been watching what I eat and portions as well. I started to drink water in addition to my tea and juice/vit C so I hope that's what it is that got me a significant weight increase in 2 days. We'll see in my next weigh-in which will be the 21rst.... And I also now hit the gym in addition to bowling. I feel better and look better already so won't stop even if the numbers are not what I want to see yet....

Good morning everyone.

Deana, you must be like the energized bunny to get in so many steps each day . Keep up the good work.

Agnes, what did they have you draw the first day?

Bernie, another one gone. Good for you . You'll be reaching that mini goal before the wedding for sure.

Marilyn, keep up the good work on the thread mill.

Dwayne, hope your cold leaves you soon.

Mothertolj. Keeping fit is the key . It sounds like your making muscle so keep up the good work.

Today it's shopping day with hubby. He just got back from getting gas and informed me it's -32 with the wind chill . I don't know if I want to go out. But I really have to if we are going to eat this week.

Hope you all have a great day.

Hugs Margaret

Hi Everyone,

Another very cold day today, but we seem to be used to it now. I've started a class in drawing for beginners and it is fun. We have some homework that took my whole attention for a couple of hours. It was almost like what I imagine meditation is. More of that today. Also, I plan to get on my treadmill for a slow walk to give my knee a little exercise. I won't be burning up the steps like Deanna is doing but it will be a start.

Best,
Agnes

Hi All
I did not check in yesterday, but I was down 1 pound at 150.4.
I am hoping to keep it up, trying to track, "except" sometimes I just am failing.
Went for a walk outdoors, a first in many months.
I am wishing for outdoor walking weather. I hit 15K for steps today.
Hope you have a good weekend.

Hope you are all having a great Saturday - though it is cold here and snowed during the night I am doing well - going to stay inside away from the cold - so ready for spring

Having a relaxing day which is nice - with the hubby bein retired it makes things so much more 'easy' as we can take our time to get things done as we have 7 days to do everything.

Am praying that my feet will not cramp today - am prepared though to put on some oils if they do - but it would be nice to go back to no cramps

Thought I slept well but am feeling sleepy - so think I will take a short nap before I have to get up and walk on the treadmill again.

Take care everyone

Good Morning '48ers,

Sounds like everyone is experiencing a little bit of the 'winter blahs' or something. I know I'm still dealing with this cough, 3 weeks now, and a bit tired of it.

Mary, enjoy your trip. Kind of wonder if you should have gone if you're not 100%. Hope you're doing O.K.

Margaret, sounds like you're staying put for the day with the weather. Enjoy and stay warm.

Marilyn, my DW has leg cramps and trying to get her to take some supplements for them. They seem to strike her at night when she's sleeping.

MOMTOLJ, you're welcome. Sounds like you're doing great with the workouts. A bit of advice I got from a trainer, try to do more strength training than cardio. I had been doing 30 min. of cardio and 45+ strength when I was at it, but since I've been out I've got to start back with 20 + 30 with 5 min. of stretching afterwards.

Well, going to do a couple 'light' chores from "Honey-Do" list and watch some football.

Have a great week-end everyone...

Til next time,
Carpe Diem,
Dwayne

Good morning everyone.

We had a lovely day yesterday we even seen some grass in front of the house but then it turned to freezing rain and then we are in a midst of a big snowstorm. High winds so everything we got rid of is back . Hubby had to go out this morning and none of the roads were plowed yet so I'll be staying put today for sure.

Hope your all warm and comfy in your homes.

Mary, hope you feel better soon.

Have a great day.

emoticon @ 188.6 this a.m. That's 0.4 down from last week . that's not much but at least it's not a gain.

It was hard to get up & get going but we did leave home by 11. A usual 4-5 he trip ended up taking us over 8 hrs because of an accident that happened about half a mile ahead of us. Must have been really bad as air-med flew in. After being stopped for a little over 2 hrs, our bladder couldn't take it any longer so we turned around & found another route which took us another 30 miles around. Anyway, we finally made it to our destination.

We may not do anything except rest but I did bring some books to read. The resort is out of the way so it's quiet. We've been here several times and always enjoy it. Hoping to feel better soon So we can drive up to visit with my aunt in Waco next week.

I brought my laptop with me but forgot my power cord emoticon well at least I have my phone to keep in touch.

How is everyone doing? Having a great Friday?

I have been struggling with cold feet - but that is not unusual as I have always been known as having cold feet. The last could of days rather than cold I am getting cramps around toes. I do have meds I can take at night if it is bad enough.. Yesterday morning it was not good so I took one of the meds knowing that I would probably be sleepy most of the day - a good friend came to visit right after lunch and I just couldn't stop yawning. She understood which was good. Anyway this morning they were good but about 1 pm the cramps came back - not wanting to take another med I had hubby rub 3 different oils on the bottom of my feet around the toes - within 5 minutes no cramps. But the right foot is a bit touchy again so am sure I will have to does them up with oil again tonight at bedtime.

Doctor told me a few years ago that the cramping was due to a lack of magnesium and one of the B vitamins - so I am now taking a B vitamin each day - and I have started to track these on the food tracker. So if it is still acting up beginning of the week I will have to go have a talk with doc again to see what could be causing the problem - and to work at getting food in me that high is in magnesium and B vitamins. Suggestions?

Doing well with following my food plan and with daily walking on the treadmill. So am pleased with my progress so far this month. So far have lost 1.2 pounds for January and I am sure I am going to be down another pound on Tuesday - I am sure I will be making 3 pounds for the month though goal is 4 - 5 pounds for the month which I am working towards.

Well supper is just about ready and I want to get up and move a little before eating.

Have a good night - and talk to all of you gain tomorrow

Good Morning '48ers,

Weigh-in for me today is 241.05 which is UP about 0.75#'s. Not too happy about that but body getting a bit more food.

Still feeling sick, cough has subsided a little and 'hoping' to get back to the gym maybe next week. This laying around all day is driving me crazy. The few times I get out has been to take DW to appts. and shopping. Does feel good to get some fresh air...LOL! Been raining here the past few days and the state is paying with mudslides in all the areas that had the fires.

Welcome back MOMtoLJ. Sorry you're going through tough times. Been there myself and what you said about 'letting go' is right on the mark. We always 'think' we can control these outcomes but we're only fooling ourselves. I have to constantly tell myself 'let it go...let it go...' and repeat and repeat til I do. Hope you get back on track soon.

Agnes, glad to hear you're on the mend. Won't be long now and you'll be back 100%. Sounds like the class you signed up for are just what you needed.

Margaret, glad to hear your DS is doing better with his recovery. Sounds like you got hit with a lot of that snow I heard about on TV. Hope ALL of you are staying warm and healthy as possible. Got the goodie, thank You...

Mary, hope you're feeling better going into the week-end. Sorry to hear you may have to put off your trip, but taking an illness with you is not good for anyone. As for your 'venting' there's no need to apologize. It's true! We're spending way more every year on tests that were always fully covered by insurance, now we pay more and get less.

Sorry I haven't been posting more, but have been sleeping in a bit later and just not feeling the 'zip' to do anything?!?!?! Hoping this changes soon. My prayers are with all of you every day...

Til next time,
Carpe Diem,
Dwayne

Hi Everyone,

I'm not pleased to report that I am at 147 today. Too much salt in my food, I know, but I also need to be even more careful about what I'm eating.

I had a good visit with the doctor yesterday. He removed the stitches and gave me the ok to start normal activities. He gave me the practical advice to back off from anything that causes pain, but that it's ok to push my activity a bit even if there is some soreness. That is part of the healing process. So, there it is. I am actually going to the YMCA this morning to sign up for an exercise class for "seniors at any level of fitness". That will be a start.

All, hope you have a good weigh in today.

Best,
Agnes

2nd try to do this .

Good morning everyone. It's emoticon Friday today. I'm not happy with the scale but then I merit it as well. I'm up 2 pounds. Must try to get it under control.

Mary, what did the doctor say about you and your hubby yesterday? Did he say it was a good idea to go on your trip?

Agnes, we are getting the same weather as you. right now it's raining and the snow is melting off the roof. I hope it dries up before the deep freeze returns. What did the doctor say to you ?

Hubby will be taking DS for his phyiso again this morning. They are increasing it to 3 times a week now and he's doing much better. Still a lot of pain in the shoulder area but he's happy to see an improvement.

Today I'm taking my friend to have her dog groomed and then for her hair appointment. So there goes my morning. LOL Yesterday I did all the housework and the washing , changed the bed so everything is done here.

Hope you all have a great weigh in and a lovely day.

Hugs Margaret

Good morning all, DH has an appt this morning & since my chest feels "raw" from all the coughing, I will be seeing him as well. Will be back later.

We're in the low 60's this morning...that's 17.2 C for comparison. It's very foggy with low visibility & still wet from all the rain we've been having. So I doubt that we will be going anywhere other than the dr's office in this humid weather. Besides, I have to finish packing & do some revisions on a dress for GD before we leave tomorrow.

Hi Everyone,

We have warmer weather and rain today, and within the next day or two we'll be back in the deep freeze. I"m starting to look forward to spring.

I leave soon for a follow up appointment with the knee surgeon, hoping he gives me the all clear to get back to normal activities, or to start to get back to normal activities.

Soon I start an adult ed course on "drawing for absolute beginners". That is certainly me. I was never good in art in elementary school, and really had no lessons or training. I'm looking forward - with some fear - to trying something new. If not now, then when!

My scale is up by 2 lbs this morning, but no surprise as I had Chinese and Japanese meals yesterday. I tried to be careful, but even so it's close to impossible at those restaurants. Will be drinking a lot of water today in the hope that I can get rid of some of that extra salt.

Best,
Agnes

Good morning everyone.

It's freezing rain here this morning turning into rain later on with a high of 9c. By the weekend we will be back into the freezer again.

Had a lovely day with friends. It was nice catching up with them. Today though I'll be staying close to home as I don't care to much going out in freezing rain.

Hope you all have a great day and get better soon.

Hugs Margaret

Mary: Just looked at the record from TOPS - I read it wrong -here are the numbers
January 2 - 275.6
January 9 = 274.8

It is snowing here again - hubby was just saying yesterday how nice it was that the snow was melting and that 'spring' was here - think he said that too soon as we are getting a dump today - could be up to 10 cm as predicted. So am staying inside for a couple of days till I feel that the roads are a bit better

Food and exercise plan are going well - am finding the food plan easy to follow now that all the foods are worked out re nutritional value. And it is getting better on the treadmill and am starting to see where I will be able to increase to 20 minutes in February getting in 3/4 of a mile each day - by March the goal is to be doing 1 mile each day and from there only better days.

So I am now working on the goal for this week - 1 pound loss by January 16 (coming Tuesday) And of course each day on the treadmill.

Well it is not time for a nap but I sure feel like having one - but going to wait till after lunch to have one. Think this feeling tired is due to the long winter - so many cold days.

Good morning everyone.

Thank you all for your well wishes. My friends are trying to keep me busy as well. I meet with one this morning and then another this afternoon. LOL I won't be able to keep this up everyday but it will be nice to talk to them today. I don't have any news yet for the Biopsy but I'll keep you posted.

Mary and Bernie, I read somewhere that if you put Vicks on your throat and then cover it with a sock it will help your throat. It can't hurt to try. Hope you both feel better soon.

Dwayne, sure hope your on the mend. I'm missing your posts.

Agnes, I sure can feel that hug. Thank you. I hope you will be getting the warmer weather there as we are. I say warmer but you do know it's still in the minuses don't you.

Marilyn, emoticon on being lower then last week at TOPS. Keep up the good work.

I went out and shoveled the back balcony yesterday. I figured it wasn't to cold and there was no wind so I would give it a shot. There was more snow then I thought and it took me over an hour to get it all off. We have a solarium out back and we need to get the snow off the roof of it as well but that will have to wait for another day. I was pooped . Today hubby will be repairing snow blowers so he won't have time for that as well . They are announcing rain for tomorrow maybe it will take care of it for us. LOL

Hope you all have a great day and feel better soon.

Hugs Margaret

Hi All,

It's been a few days since I've posted. I was doing some work that took all my time and attention. I'm happy that it's over, and I can get back to other things.

This will be quick as I have to take someone to the airport in a little while. Margaret, your day from driving in that horrible storm to the news that you need to have a biopsy sounded awful, just awful. I hope that you let us know when the biopsy will be done. Definitely not the news you wanted, but it's good that it can be tracked down and addressed. Sending hugs to you. Hope you can feel them. emoticon emoticon

Best,
Agnes

Didn't have much choice about getting out today as DH had to have lab work done for his appt coming up Thursday. So we did that, went by pharmacy to pick up meds only to find out that meds are costing me more than last year on top of my monthly premiums have almost doubled monthly. What gives? They told me nothing had changed except the premiums but not true. emoticon Sorry, had to vent to someone & told you all would understand.

Margaret, Oh dear! Is it the lung mass that increased in size??? Praying for you, that it is not malignant! Have you heard any more yet about an appt for the biopsy?

MomtoLJ, emoticon Sometimes life is just hard & we struggle to do the best we can. Praying that your Faith will sustain you in whatever you are going through. We are here for support in whatever way we can. Your goals are definitely ones that can help guide you in the right direction of taking care of yourself & your DH who often don't seem to be aware of our struggles. I say that lovingly as my DH often seems to be totally clueless...or maybe it's because he wants to be. LOL Sometimes best to make light of a situation rather than stress over it. emoticon

Bernie, Yes, "Feeling rather rundown" fits how I feel. Sleeping more, drinking warm tea, doing sinus rinses & trying to stay inside & away from others is about the only thing we can do. DH & I were suppose to be leaving at the end of the week for a week of vacation but I seriously wonder if we will be up to it. I hope so because I wanted to go visit with my sweet Nannie/Aunt in Texas. But I also don't want to bring this cold to her. We'll see.

Agnes, hope you're still improving.

Marilyn yes, reading labels is so important, especially when it come to packaged foods. So much hidden salt & sugars.

Good morning,
Third day for me to have a sore throat. emoticon Feeling rather rundown. Dwayne and Mary, hope you are feeling better soon.

Margaret, so sorry about the doctor visit. Is this on the area on your head that they are looking?

Marilyn, after looking at all those labels I buy very little packaged food. Instead of cereal I do oatmeal. It helps with so many things.

Agnes, best to you as you stay in from the cold, snow and ice and continue to heal.

Welcome back to Momtolj.

Off to gargle with salt water, and brew up some tea for my throat.

Have a good day.

Good morning reveryone.

emoticon momtolj. It's nice to see you back.

Yesterday I left DH alone with the GGS while I went to a doctors appointment. The driving was terrible, white out conditions ,snowing, and just plain crappy weather. Got to the hospital drove around the parking lot for 10 minutes to try t o find a parking ended up going into the emergency parking. Got to my appointment which I thought would be M last one but wouldn't you know it the scan should that the mass had gotten bigger and now need a byopsie on it. What else can go wrong on a perfect day? Well while I was there i had to go for bloodtests . After waiting 45 minutes to be called into the room it took another 15 min. Before I was ok to leave. I was not a very happy person. So now I sit and wait for the day surgery to call with an appointment .

By the time I got home it was 3 pm my GD decided to come over to let her son playwith his cusins. With the 4 of them here you thought we were in a play ground. LOL. They finally all left at 7.30 . I was pooed. LOL

Mary, hope your feeling better soon. Your doing the best thing fore it plenty of sleep.

Hope you all have a great day.

Sorry went MIA for a while. Had a lot of personal problems that nearly drove me to the edge. I now suffer from insomnia Find it hard to let go and let GOD... I take it back many times and give it back... not in my control...

My goals in January? I started at the end of December Why wait huh? lol

I've been going to th gym 4 times a week and bowl 3 times a week
I did cut my portions and will keep doing so
I have to be good to me and take care of me and my dh of course!
I will add drinking more water to the list while I'm at it
I do weigh in every Sunday morning
I do keep track in my journal activities
I also wrote down about the negativity in our lives and about the pain it caused my dh and me coming from 2 grand-children We learned first hand how loving them can also be a source of great pain

Well this is my ti-bit for now Have a great year! I'm sure working hard on making mine a good one.... at our age we have no room for negativity....

Sorry for not checking in yesterday. Got up, went to church then came home & slept all afternoon. Woke up at 5:30 or so, found I was running a little temp. Went to bed by 8:30 & slept all night. Throat a little better today but showing signs of sinus infection so started sinus rinses again. Still not feeling great. Heading to bed.

Hope you are all having a great day - mine is going well.

Today I took the nutrional labels off of a few items we had in the pantry and was amazed at what I saw. We had bought 2 cereals in the last 3 days so wanted to compare them - one was Fiber 1 honey clusters - didn't taste to bad but today bought the Fiber 1 original - compared the numbers for the 2 of them and hubby says 'nope, getting rid of the hone clusters as it is just to far out there with all that we don't need. And then we compared Fiber 1 with Cheerios original. Fairly close but if you are eliminating all added sugar don't eat cheerios because in 1 cup of it you get 7 grams of sugar where fiber 1 doesn't have any added sugar. Also the fat content in fiber 1 is lower than cheerios.

Looked at Chicken Noodle Soup (from the pouch). Where that one goes wrong is in the sodium 780 mg. It also has 13 grams of carbs if you are watching carbs.

So my food plan is basically looking at the nutrition in the food and keeping them in line. I am working on keeping the carbs no higher than 120 preferably closer to 100 so it can be tricky. I was also having trouble with the cholesterol levels but am now keeping it on the lower side of recommendation which is good.

I have been doing the above along with walking on the treadmill each day and it looks like I am going to have a nice weigh in tomorrow according to my scale this morning.

Well timer is about to go off so need to get up and move some - take care everyone

Good Morning All,

Congratulations to Dwayne. Goodie has been sent. Hope you feel better soon.

All,
I'm doing well, although I'd be doing better if I could get out of the house. Our roads are not good, and I'm not interested in slipping and sliding anywhere at any time. There is a concert at our library this afternoon that I had planned to go to, but we'll see. Mostly I'm content at home, but yesterday I got a wicked case of the nibbles and just couldn't stop. It's a good thing that we don't have a lot of snacks around right now.

Mary, I do so hope that you recover quickly.

Marilyn, You are an inspiration. Your planning is excellent and so important for success.

Margaret, How fortunate you are to have talented relatives who make house calls!

All, have a good day.

Agnes

Good morning everyone..

Dwayne, Sending a goodie your way for being the best looser for this week. I'll try to better you this week but not in the same way. Hope you feel better soon.

Mary, try rubbing your vicks on your feet before it gets to bad. Maybe you can nip it in the butt.

Agnes, I'm with you on the temps . The wind just sliced through you yesterday. I couldn't believe that hubby was keeping the snow cleaned just about all day. When he came in his beard was all icicles . I was in the house and couldn't get warm. So I walked around with layers on. LOL

Marilyn, sounds like you have a plan for January. I hope your weigh in goes well for you at your TOPS meeting.

Today my GD will come and cut my hair it's time as it looks like I've gone back to being 16 again when the Beatle cut was in style seeing it's so long. Then I'll be meeting up with my friend to see how her house has turned out after renovations.

Hope you all have a great Sunday.

Busy day inside for me although the temps are a little warmer with beautiful sunshine but had allot to do. Washing clothes, dishes, changed beds, writing checks & cards, oh, & cooking. Worked up a sweat and got it all done. Tree is down, just have to have help to put it back in the attic because DH is not up to it.

Hope I'm not coming down with something as I've had a scratchy throat since yesterday & this afternoon, started sneezing allot. Made me some hot yea earlier hoping to sooth the throat.

Dwayne, right at 3 lbs, wow! Good job. You must be sick to lose your appetite AND not posting. sorry you're feeling so bad emoticon

Hope you are all having a great Saturday - the 1st one for 2018 - make some good memories

I am on track with walking on the treadmill each day and with my food plan. I am still on a high for motivation and plan to keep it this way for a long time - I so want to make my goals.

Cant remember if I shared the goals for January so I will share them now
(1) Lose 5 pounds which will get me to 270
(2) Walk the treadmill for 15 minutes 2 mph each day of January
(3) Track all food for the month of January
(4) go through clothes for all 3 of us and weed out ones in order to make room for new ones this year - both daughter and myself are needing some new ones due to pounds lost so far
(5) Work on 2 courses that I am taking from our Church and also am reading the Bible through in on year - am on track so far for all

Well my timer is about to go off reminding me that I need to get up and walk so will sign off for now

Good Morning '48ers,

Haven't posted the past few days and barely on the computer. This cough just won't go away.

Mary, my apologies for again delaying your keeping track of our weights. I'm at 240.3#'s for the week, that's a down for me and hit a goal. Being sick has a lot to do with it. I just miss the working out.

Hope to get back and respond to all the posts. And so glad to see Deanna has come back. Good to hear from you...

Til next time,
Carpe Diem,
Dwayne

Good morning everyone. It's a very cold wintery day here today -25 with a wind chill at -34

emoticon Deana, how did you make out in the cold weather yesterday? I hope you weren't outside for a long period of time.

Our oldest GS came over bright and early this morning with a pair of jeans that needed mending. Every time I turned them over I seen another hole. He doesn't ask to often so I really don't mind. He was a happy camper when they were done.

I hope you all have a great Saturday.

Weigh in was 275 - think I posted that the other day.

Am working my plan and am looking forward to seeing positive progress for the month.

Cold and overcast out - staying inside is the plan

By the way, went shopping for daughters birthday present yesterday. Got her some clothes and movies plus I got 2 new pair of pants and found a shirt I liked only it was 2 sizes smaller than what I am wearing = bought it anyway hoping to get in it in a couple of months - guess what - I tried it on and it fits - must just be the cut as most of those sizes don't quite fit yet - but boy was I happy.

Have a great day - needing to go do some walking and then start working on my presentation for TOPS meeting
