Wow sounds like we are all very busy. I'm getting into panic mode as the wedding will be on Saturday. My new daughter in law to be finally ordered her flowers on Sunday. Honestly she was driving me crazy. She kept saying "don't worry if I don't get what I want I'll grab a bunch of flowers at Walmart". The two of them are so lay back and don't fret about anything. LOL I do enough for everyone. I want everything to be nice for them.

I went for my walk this morning and then had my friend come back home with me to help me add a few finishing touches to the Wedding gown. Now all that's left is baking , prepare the decorations, and bake the cake and of course to get all the last minute things ready.

I checked my sparks tracker today and realized I had walked close to 30 miles last week . I'm hoping to make it a full 30 this week.

Hope you all have a great week.

Hugs Margaret

Hi all,
Well, hubby is home....no BBQ tho, it rained, naturally...LOL
But we did have a nice dinner for him.
He is driving me crazy....he is stubborn as a mule and will not do what he is supposed to do, or rather I should say he does what he is NOT supposed to do. I have to keep a close eye on him to keep him off the stairs and taking the dog out by himself. Just to name a few things. He's taking a nap now so thought I would stop by before I go fold the laundry that is waiting for me.
I did go to bed earlier last night. It was really hard to put my book down at 9pm but hubby doesn't sleep well with the light on and I have to get up earlier in the morning now....at 7am instead of 8am. Boy can I tell the difference an hour makes...LOL

Well, gotta run. You all have a great week and will check in to see how all of you are doing.

Take care,
Lynn

Busy weekend here, too. We're having some floors refinished and the workers were here all weekend. So noisy that I tried to spend as much time outside as possible. That ended up including a couple of long walks on Saturday, and on our very rainy Sunday I went shopping with a friend and picked up a new pants, top, light sweater outfit. All on sale, which made it even more fun. Also, learned of the arrival of my first great niece. I'm so happy for my nephew and his wife; they are a lovely couple and will be excellent parents.

Just had a light lunch and I'm on my way out for a walk before my first meeting of the afternoon.

Best wishes,
Agnes

Busy week ended with kitchen floor repairs started Saturday & yesterday with an outing with 2 of my handsome grandsons who accompanied us to a commissioning service last night for mutual friends that are preparing to leave for the mission field that I will miss so very much. Today I'm up & ready to take the road for an over-night trip to attend a meeting. Sorry this is short but wanted to check in before leaving. Sister will be returning with me after the meeting for a much needed visit. She is still learning to cope with life after the loss of her DH 8 months ago & it's quiet an adjustment for her since she cannot live on her own because of her poor health.

Have a blessed day SP friends! Drink your water & eat your veggies. Water is very needed with this heat!

Only have a minute, but wanted to check in with a loss of 1.5 lbs.

Will try to catch up with all of you over the weekend, but it is going to be kinda crazy around here trying to get the house 'hubby safe'. We are going to do the BBQ we were going to have on Father's Day after he comes home. Both his boys and 6 grandkids will be there, along with the better halves of course....LOL

Well, chores are calling that I must finish before I take time to read some more of my book. Its 8:30 at night so don't know how much reading I can do....I am really tired tonight.

Talk to you all tomorrow....Good night.

Hi 48'rs,

Weight stayed the same this week. I would have thought it could be down a bit as I have not had an appetite all week. The virus that has been in our community caught up with me this week and then with all this extreme heat we have now who feels like eating?

Char - I hope you get back to your old self soon. Take it easy for awhile!

Lynn - I too am happy to hear that your hubby is coming home and, yes, you will be run off your feet for awhile! Take care of yourself too.

We have grandkids arriving this afternoon so I should get a few things done before they arrive. School is out so will probably see a lot of them over the next few months.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good Morning '48'ers;

Weigh in today was 199.6#'s. Just made it back into "Onederland" Now to keep it moving down.

Char, glad to hear you're out of the hospital. Just take it slow...I can only imagine all the pent-up energy you must have after being in bed for 5 days, but when we get moving sometimes it's best to be careful, all that energy is being used, we just don't realize it and we're pooped before we know it. Prayers for you to continue to mend and be back at 100% soon.

Lynn, my prayers go out to you and your DH for his coming home Sunday. I'm sure he's in capable hands with you and don't forget to ask for help if it's available with other things you may need done.

I'm off to the gym now to work on keeping this weight moving down and hitting my next goal of being below 195#'s.

Everyone have a great weekend and just keep moving forward...

Carpe Diem,
Dwayne

My weight is the same as last week @ 190.6. I have been 1.0 lb lower all week so I'm not sure why because if I had a step-counter, I'm sure it would have been a high number with all the walking I've done & the steps up & down working with my little patient. it's good to be with him again.

Char so sorry to hear you're in the hospital. Praying for you to emoticon

Got out of the hospital late yesterday and day one is doing ok so far. Have to monitor my oxygen levels as I go about stuff to make sure they keep improving or else part time use may come into play. God has a plan for sure.

Weigh in was great 192.6 but that is after days in there so we will see what holds over the coming week. Would sure love to keep that level. Maybe good eating will work. Slow walking with dog will me my biggest goal for the next few days. Amazing how tired and weak one gets laying around in bed for 5 days!!

Hope all have a good weekend. I'm off to the campgrounds alittle later today and will check in when I can.

Hi all,

Char, sorry to hear you are in hospital. Prayers are going up for your speedy recovery.

Warm day today. Sunny, not much breeze tho. Love it, love it LOL

Hubby is coming home on Sunday afternoon. I will be even busier cause I have to do almost everything for him for awhile. They gave me a list and I have to do all those things or they won't let him be home. Keep me in your prayers. I feel overwhelmed with what I am doing already and now with all the added things. But I am still happy he is coming home.

Well, its late and I have clothes that need to be folded before I can go to bed.
Will see all of you over the scales in the morning. Hope I had a good week.....

Hugs,
Lynn

Char, sorry to hear that your in the hospital. My thoughts are with you for a speedy recovery. No ones wants to be in the hospital in the summer , winter is the better time that way you don't have to tend to all the snow. LOL

Agnes, your sure right about walking it keeps you wanting to do more. I've been able to get in about an hour and fifteen minutes each day sometimes more. But the days I get in more the next one I reduce it a little.

Linda, you sound like you've been pretty busy lately. Your not sitting around much . Keep up the good work.

Hope you all have a great day.

Hi Everyone,
Char, I hope you are on a good path to recovery and get home soon. Please let us know how you are doing.

The days are flying by. Here in Maine, this is the time of year for visitors and we've had and will have many throughout the summer. It's wonderful to see people and catch up and I try to be a casual hostess so as not to get exhausted from it all. I've been walking for 30 minutes almost every day, and I hope to keep that up as it really helps with my mood and puts me in the right frame of mind for eating properly.

Beautiful day here.

Best,
Agnes

Good Morning,
Char, Sorry to hear you are in hospital. Please know we are thinking about you and that you have a speedy recovery and can be home once again.
It is a rainy morning here, but we sure need it. Dont think it will last too long though as the sun is starting to poke thru the clouds.

Where does the time go these days? Started back to work last week. This weekend I never stopped. Today we started VBS at my home church. Although I am not teaching there I am helping in the Missions class with a new teacher. That class has always been my favorite & have taught it for many years.

Anyway, just wanted to stop by before heading to bed. Have a very long day tomorrow & have to be up early. Hope all are doing ok.

BTW, I noticed this morning that the scale is still going down & have really been watching the calories.

Hi everyone, yesterday we celebrated Father's Day at our sons house. It was very nice . While we were there we heard that my hubby's sister had passed away. We knew it was coming but I don't think your ever prepared for it. She lived in Nova Scotia so we hadn't seen her in years . They will have a service there for her and another in Granby where she was born. So we will go down for that one. She had a form of cancer called Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia when she found out that she had that the doctor told her she would be able to live with it with medication. That went on for close to 8 years until just before this Christmas her bowel ruptured and the cancer turned very aggressive. She has had a very hard time of it since but now she is in a better place.

WE had a beautiful day here today we were supposed to get rain but we didn't get a drop. The weather went up into the 30's and the humidity was very high. It was stay in weather.

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Lynn, I wore a holter monitor but for a full month. My doctor felt that 48 hours was not long enough. The first time I did this, a few years ago, nothing showed up. This time I wore it for an entire month and this time it did show atrial fibrillation on two occasions, but that was enough to put me on a blood thinner. Interestingly, both occasions were on days when I first had a fantastic retirement party at work and the other was on the day we had a second party - surprise combined retirement and 50th anniversary party. Both were over-the- top fantastic. Until yesterday, I did not have any A-fib that I was aware of. My blood pressure and heart rate (pulse) numbers have been fine. I just posted a topic asking about people's reaction to sugar, which is what I am sure brought on yesterday's A-fib incident.

Time passes quickly and a pound a week will add up quickly. I have learned to be content with losing slowly. My mindset is where it should be. This morning I roasted chick peas in my air fryer for the first time. They came out very well and will be a nice healthy snack or addition to salads. I am eating a lot more veggies and really enjoy roasted vegetables.

I just printed the recipe for baked falafel - want to include more legumes in my diet because they are high in fiber.

While I don't know what your husband's problem is, I certainly hope he continues to do well.

Take care. Be well and thanks for "listening."

Marion

Hi Everyone,
I tried to check in on Friday, but internet was not working well and lost my message to you. My weight is at 145.5 which is up. I know I haven't been eating the way I should --little bites here and there take their toll. Well, today is another day, and another week ahead to work on this. One thing that I need to remember is that when we have visitors it is not MY vacation from eating and exercising as I should.
Raining here today so it's an indoor day for me, but so much to do.
Best,
Agnes

Another beautiful day in Minnesota. Sunny, breezy and about 80 degrees which is perfect.

Took 4 grandkids to a local park for a picnic and let them play on the playground. Now I am ready to take a nap after all that fresh air, and playing on the swings, but I can't. Doctor said not to take naps and my dear DIL is determined that I follow that....Darn....

I lost one pound last week. That is a step in the right direction. I figured out that if I lose just one pound a week, consistently, I should be at 175 (lower than my original goal) in 38 weeks. That is doable.

Hubby is doing pretty good. They are concerned about his memory and confusion issues. Physically I understand he is doing pretty good. He says he is coming home on June 29 but we will have to see.

Had my echo yesterday and wearing my holter monitor for 48 hours. I see my cardiologist on July 2nd so they can try to figure out why my heart rate stays up, not dangerously high, around 120-143, but higher than it should be.

Well, better go see if I have any laundry that needs to be done today or if it can until tomorrow. We are cooking hotdogs over an open fire and making smores tonight instead of our normal pizza night, and might put the screen up and watch a movie outside. Sounds like fun.

I have yacked enough for now. Hope everyone has a good weigh in and a wonderful weekend. Hope you have wonderful plans for Father's Day. We might all try to go see hubby (all 14 of us if they have a 'family' room).

Talk to you later.
Lynn

Weight is up .4 today.

Way to go Char and Mary on your weight loss! Every bit going in the right direction helps.

Linda, I felt sad when I read that your daughter is away at sea for 9 months. How old are the children? I'm sure they miss her a lot. Good thing they have grandma!

We had a bit of much needed rain overnight and still the odd sprinkle this morning. I think it will be cool for our Father's Day camp tomorrow but I prefer that to blazing heat any day.

Have a great weekend all and Happy Father's Day to Dwayne!

Good Morning, well after tracking and keeping within my goals of calories etc. I am still the same weight. Find that very disappointing, but will carry on doing this. Still at 176.5 pounds.
Theresa, Your fathers day outing sounds like fun. Hope the weather does cooperate.
We have heard from the kids but they won't be coming up to visit their Dad this weekend. All too busy.
We will be visiting the campground on Saturday to see two of the grandkids so that is something. Their mother (our Daughter) is away at sea for nine months time, so their Dad is taking them camping to keep them from missing Mom so much. A long time to be away from the family.
Cheers, Linda

Weigh in today at 198.0 down 1.8 pounds. Not bad considering my walking was less as it's been raining and hard to walk around this small apartment. Eating must not have been as bad as I thought considering couple parties.

Well just a short check in today as I am headed to the campgrounds shortly for the weekend. Volunteer at the church monday so won't be home till late that day. Will try to keep track and check in as I can. Internet is iffy down there sometimes.

Wish all you a very great weekend, stay active and eat healthy.

Lynn - thanks for keeping us posted about our hubby! Glad to hear things are going in the right direction for him.

Mary - you mentioned you take melatonin for sleep. Do you find it gives you nightmares? I tried it a few years ago but had to give it up because of the awful nightmares.

What's everyone doing for the father's day weekend? My daughter and her family are camping at a beautiful lake and we and our son and his kids are going out for the day. It should be fun. Hope the weather cooperates.

Will check in tomorrow for weigh in day.

Lynn, so glad hubby is on the mend. It won't be long before he's home again you'll see.

Linda, you have to take care of yourself as well. The work can always be done in 2 days instead of 1. Don't tire yourself out to much take it slowly it'll get done.

Mary, your area sounds like mine was a few days ago. The humidity was so high it rained every night so we got up to higher humidity the next morning and the process started all over again. We are still walking in the park and wooded areas of the park but now we are spraying ourselves with bug spray to save from being eaten by the bugs. But it's worth it. Our goal was to walk around the pond 5 times before the end of June. We are up to 4 times so hopefully we will be able to do our goal.

Hope your all having a great week.

Hugs Margaret

Hi everyone,
Lynn, Thanks for the update. Glad things are progressing nicely. Too bad he is still so far from you. I know I would hate to drive in a busy city. I have it so easy here where we live. It only gets busier in the summer months with tourists. We have such lovely beaches and parks here. Take it easy and don't wear yourself out. I know how that can be , as my DH with his bad lungs can not do very much any more and I end up being the go for person. I should have strong arms now, but I sure don't. I was happy this morning though as he took his motorized scooter out in the garden and did some weed eating . Ever little bit helps.
Just got up from an afternoon nap. I was wiped out. Now its dog walking time once again and time to think about dinner plans.
Cheers, Linda

Its Wednesday, thought I would drop by for a moment between laundry and dish washer. Hubby got moved to a rehab center. We had hoped for one close to home but he is still downtown Minneapolis. That means I won't be able to see him as much as I had hoped. Was told he might only need therapy a week or so because it is so intensive. So there is a bright side to this!!!

Char, belated happy Birthday. Hope you had a great day and a good dinner with MIL. You must share with us how that went....LOL

Well, dishwasher won out first, so I better run before washing machine gets done. Seems like I just keep running in circles. Didn't realize how much I depended on Hubby to help me.

Thanks again for the well wishes and prayers, our family can feel them.

Good Morning 48er's! Looks like another rainy day in SW LA. Our yard is beginning to look like a jungle as we cannot seem to get the grass cut. Our yard is really soggy with standing water in areas.

Anyway, getting my water in, sleeping 8 hrs most night thanks to the Melatonin & adjusting activities according to level of knee pain. Scale is decreasing slowly & hope to have a lower # on Friday. Got a full schedule again today & since I'm about at the bottom of my coffee cup I will say good bye for now & hit the shower. Have an invite to a senior adult luncheon at a local church today where I will also pick up VBS decorations that they are finished with. Sure blesses our church to get these. emoticon

Char - Happy belated birthday! Sounds like you had a good day.

Lynn - Great to hear that your hubby is on the mend. Such a relief eh?

Margaret - After reading your post about the GM diet I had to look it up! Doesn't it sound like something that was around quite a few years ago but had a different name? It seems quite intense.

I was thinking about ordering a new Spark step counter as I broke off the little tab that holds in the battery on my old one. I taped the battery down but I don't think it is very accurate now. My daughter won a Fitbit last week and says she will give me her old one so I might try that first. I actually like the idea of a bracelet as opposed to something you carry in your pocket.

I still have about four hours worth of work to do from home today so I should get to it. I have tomorrow off but hubby has planned a day trip starting at 5 a.m. tomorrow...lol...so I have to get things organized for that as well.

Enjoy the day!
Theresa

thanks for the wishes (birthday is 6/14) and it was a nice weekend for the most part. We are going out to my favorite resturant later today for my free dinner. Taking the MIL which is always an adventure. she is 93 and cranky most of the time. So I expect nothing less. We are having flooding and lots of rain here. Sadly part of my flowers are under an overhang and I still have to water them. But they are pretty and getting more so all the time.

Left my tracker at the camper, no clue how that happened as I usually put it on first thing in the morning. guess the phone calls set my mind in a different direction. So no clue as to how much i'm walking till hubby gets here today with it. The skys are getting darker and we are to get yet more rain. Several streets in town are closed due to high water.

Sounds like most are doing well and keeping busy. Wishing all a great day.

Happy Belated Birthday Char. Hope it was a good day and the the year will bring you many happy times.

I had a busy weekend (I know we all do!) with getting ready for house guests. Two friends arrived on Sunday and will be with us til Thursday. I took yesterday off from work. the weather was fabulous so I spent the day with them showing them around and catching up on all the news. Very nice people. We did fit in a 3 mile walk, and it was great to have their company.

Today is back to work and the visitors will be on their own to explore. I know they will enjoy that.

Margaret, we have turtles laying eggs here as well. I'm not sure when they hatch, but I'm going to try to google it and see what I can find out. It's wonderful to have these surprises on our walks.

Best,
Agnes

Happy Belated Birthday Char, Hope your day was full of laughter, family and friends.

Mary sounds like your a very busy lady as well. I know some days we just don't have enough hours to do everything that needs to be done.

I forgot my tracker yesterday. I was not a happy camper. We did a new high in our walking and I couldn't see how we had done. I could only estimate how much we walked .

Today it's already in place and I'm raring to go again. I'll leave at 6;15 and we walk in a huge park where this is a lot of nature to see . Our favorite thing is watching the new baby geese and ducks to see how fast they are growing.
Last Friday we seen a turtle laying her eggs. We had never seen that before. Can anyone tell me how long it takes for them to hatch? We would like to be there to see them come out. LOL

Well I'm off .

Hugs Margaret

emoticon Char! Sorry we missed it. Please tell us the date so we will remember next time! Also sorry to hear of your & your DH's loss.

Got allot done today. Took car in for new tire & wheel alignment. Also ordered my new flooring so we can finally get the termite damage taken care of & new tile in kitchen & utility room. Also got to visit & have tea with a friend who will be leaving next month for the mission field.

Didn't even get to the lower limits of my calorie allowance today but drank my fluids! Tonight we sure enjoyed a salad with fresh cukes, banana peppers & tomatoes from the garden. Tomorrow I hope to make us some Eggplant Parmesan for supper. DH just picked the first one & that is what he's requesting.

Well tomorrow a.m. I have to bring Val to the groomer because she is shedding way too much so she's getting a trim. It helped the last time so hopefully it will again.

WOW you have been a chatty bunch. I took the weekend offline basically. It was my birthday and I spent quiet time at the campgrounds with my husband. We did Granddaughter's Graduation Party Saturday and sunday worship with family. Otherwise nice time with hubby and Bella. It was nice to just turn off the electronics and spend time doing what we wanted.

Last night we got word that hubby had lost his aunt and another family member. Not good way to end the weekend. so this week will be busy I'm sure. I have alot to catch up here. Lynn, will be keeping you and your husband in prayer.

What in the world is a General Motor Diet? LOL for me that means they are cutting husband's retirement checks again. Food is getting out of sight lately price wise. Eating alot less since the good stuff is more expensive. Kroger's here locally has gone to most all local/organic veggies and that means double the price on most. Luckily at lest for summer there are many farmer's markets starting up. I hit them as much as I can.

I didtn't do well with walking but hey, it's another week. So for everyone, please enjoy the nice weather finally and count our blessings.

HUGS and BLESSINGS!!

Hi all, well, hubby had a good weekend. He does not want to go to a rehab center but he has to. They are in the process of looking for one. Thought he could get in one just up the road but they said he can't. So, they are still looking.
Have 2 more grandkids with me for the next 6 weeks from Florida. I'm glad they are not that little....10 and 12.....cause things are gonna be really crazy here for me trying to keep up with laundry and getting other things done. We shall see what I am made of....LOL

Laundry is calling me and its lunch time so I better run for now.

Thank you for all the encouragement and prayers...they mean a lot to me, and to my hubby.

Later all,

emoticon Rita! emoticon with your posts. We sometimes over-look some obvious reasons why the scale may not be moving in the right direction. We also fail to see some of the hidden calories that we are sometimes putting away. I'm often guilty of that.

Hello 48er's. Sorry I am slacking again. Spent the weekend mostly away from the computer & spent some quality time with DH. Got allot done even with the rain every day. Getting ready for Vacation Bible School which is fast approaching.

Got to get ready to leave for an afternoon service appointment at the car dealer and a few other errands but wanted to stop in & say hello.

Also want to say that we have 8 regulars posting our weight the past 2 weeks. emoticon emoticon

HI!! My name is RITA may I make a suggestion; if the diet isn't off and obviously the exercise plan is good. I would think it could only be 1 of 3 things thyroid problems, a lack of sleep, or your in dehydration ?? When you are sleep deprived your body enters survival mode and stores everything it can get its hands on. When in dehydration the body stops ALL functions that need water ( which is everything just about).Thyroid disrupts just about everything.

Hi, its Saturday afternoon and I am getting ready to go to hospital so thought I would give you a quick update on hubby.
He moved from ICU to a Trauma room 2 days ago. Now they are working out on where to send him for some intensive therapy before he can come home. He called and left me a message. He sounded really good.
Thank you for all the prayers and good wishes. They have really helped....

Hi everyone. I was just reading on the net this morning about the General Motors diet . It seems you can lose up to 9 kilos on this. But it is used to detox the system and it's for a week here and there. Just a thought you might want to look it up.

I've been gone again since 7;30 this morning and took a friend shopping and then we took in an art exhibition . They were all local artist and some were lovely to look at but others I was unable to make out what they were trying to paint. But it was fun. Then we had lunch, and now I'm back home trying to get caught up with phone calls and emails.

Tomorrow I'm hoping for a quiet day so I can finish my dress I started last week. The wedding will be here and I won't have anything to ware.LOL

Lynn, how is your hubby doing. I hope he is improving.

Agnes, did you manage to get some flowers and plant them in your garden?

Dwayne, maybe you should look up this General Motors diet and give it a try for a week .

Hope your all having beautiful weather.

Hugs Margaret

Hello Everyone,

Hope all are doing well and moving forward?

Lynn, how's your Hubby? My prayers continue to go out to you and yours...

Mary, glad to see you got a loss for the week. I'm still stuck. Just need to see if I'm doing something wrong?

Steps from my Spark Tracker are averaging 11,700+ per day so I'm good with that. Just need to watch what I'm eating and see if I'm going astray which I think I am. Off to the gym now for some cardio and upper body work.

Margaret, thanks for the words of encouragement. It's not that I'm worried as much as trying to figure out what I'm missing?

Til next time...

Carpe Diem,
Dwayne

Hi,
Lynn, sure hoping that your hubby is doing better now. How awful to have such a fall. Keep us informed and you take care too.
Margaret and Theresa, I hear you both about the groceries. I am not alone thinking this way. You are right about how they change the size of the packaging and still charge more for the item. Not nice at all. I found they even did this with the large bags of dog food.
Today I plan of doing some more yard work. Then this evening I will be attending a performance of music performers. I am going along with friends as they have an extra ticket and they invited me to go with them. Leaving hubby alone tonight for awhile.
Cheers, Linda

Hi Everyone,
I didn't check my weight yesterday or post it here. Today I'm at 144.5, up from last week, but somewhat understandable as the oral surgery put a cramp in my activity level. I'll do better this week. It is a lovely day here and we are expected to have good weather all weekend. I may finally go and buy some annuals and try to spiff up the place a bit.
My best to everyone,
Agnes

Hi everyone.

Lynn, sorry to hear about your hubby. My prayers go out to you and your family for his quick recovery. With all that love he has from his family I'm sure he'll be fine in no time.

Mary, It doesn't matter how long it's been since you have lost someone your always thinking of them and that is what your supposed to do to keep them close to you. Always remember the good times that's what is important.

Linda We put new railing on our back balcony last year and that made a difference. Now this year it's a new roof that has to be done. I don't think it ever stops. Your right about the grocery store as well. I've been saying it to my hubby for the last month or so how everything keep going up from one week to the next. Our groceries are getting smaller but the prices are getting bigger. Even the packages are getting thinner and shorter but the prices are getting bigger.

Char, getting rid of things you know that are not good for you is a good way of not being tempted to eat them. You keep emoticon and you'll be great.

Dwayne, don't fret over a pound . It'll be off again next week and maybe kick start your downhill course again in the weight department.

Theresa, We started off with a beautiful day today but now it's raining pretty hard and the temperature has dropped off as well. I sure hope mother nature would make up her mind and let us have some real nice weather for more then a few days.

Agnes, hope you've been trying to get your walks in. Were you able to go walking with your friend?

My weigh in this morning showed that I was down 1 pound. So I'm happy about that.

Ok I've rattled on enough it looks like a novel I'm sorry .

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Hugs Margaret

Lynn - sorry to hear your hubby had the fall. Prayers and positive thoughts to you and your family. I hope he has a speedy and full recovery.

Margaret - Happy belated anniversary! I hope you have many more.

Mary - sorry that you have been feeling low but it is very understandable.

Linda - your renovations sound very nice! I hear what you say about it seems we are always running to the store for food. I feel the same way. We would all be rich if we didn't have to eat...LOL...

My weight is up 2 lbs this week. Sitting on my duff at the computer at work too much doesn't help.

It's a very drab, cold and windy day here today but I'll get out for a walk today or else on the treadmill.

Hugs,
Theresa

Good Friday to all....am afraid I gained 3 lbs last week. I ate whatever was handy as hubby was in Surgical ICU since Sunday night. He was moved to a specialty floor last night. So need to say, it was hard to be careful.
Hubby fell down stairs and split his head open. Stitches and 2 bones broken in his face. He sure has a shiner. He was bleeding in his brain in 2 places. The surgical team was standing by just in case the swelling in his brain got big enough they needed to relieve the pressure. Prayer works, and the swelling was manageable. They did an ECHO on his heart day before yesterday and said heart is not working like they would like. They are watching him really close and doing tests to see if he can tolerate any meds. So, needless to say, my week has been kinda crazy. Am going to see him tonight. Could not go yesterday cause everyone was just too tired, including me. I will not drive downtown Minneapolis. I am a country girl and all that traffic scares the daylights out of me.

Well, I have rattled on enough. Please keep my family in your prayers. Sons are taking this really hard.

HAPPY BELATED ANNIVERSARY....HOPE YOU HAVE MANY MORE WONDERFUL YEARS AHEAD.....

Well, the laundry got away from me so I better go and try to get a handle on it.

Happy losing to all of you this week. I will do better next week.

Take care and have a wonderful weekend.....

Hugs,
Lynn

Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

Good Morning all, I managed to stay the same weight. No loss this week.
We have had the renows done on the side deck. Now we have aluminum white railings instead of the rotten wood ones. Looks so much nicer, but very expensive. Now to save more money so I can get the front porch deck made bigger and put up new railings there too. Save money on groceries somehow. The prices just seem to be going higher all the time. I am forever running to the store for food.
Hope the rest of you will be doing well with your eating plans. I must regroup to get my losing streak again.
Cheers, Linda

Happy Friday '48ers,

1st off; Happy Anniversary Margaret, belated as it is. Hope you have many more together.

Mary, I know what you mean about the "slump" that occurs for different reasons with us all. My DW feels it every February when she lost her Mom who was so close to her. She feels it, expresses and remembers all the good times.

As for my weight...199.6#'s. Looks like I gained a pound and cannot break out of this range. I'm going to re-visit everything I'm doing and try to see where I've gone astray.

til next time...

Carpe Diem,
Dwayne

Quick check in with weight. Lost .7 pounds this week. Well at least it's a pound. Gonna check my meals for last week and see what I need to do. I know I need to get more exercise, just need to keep moving A LOT more.

Weekend is here. Tomorrow is my granddaughter's graduation party. Side still hurts so not up to par yet. Hope all have a good day.

Day late but happy Anniversary Margaret. Hope you are blessed with many more.

Mary, totally understand why you have down days. Lost my former husband 20 years ago. Yes I have remarried and am happy but still have my days of missing him. He was my best friend for more than 20 years BEFORE we had married. Sometimes I get real low when I think of all the loved ones I have lost. So those days and even weeks are totally understood.

So far today I've not walked much. I pulled a muscle in my side last week and must have slept on it wrong but today it is killing me to breath. So walking is hard but I am trying to stay at 3000 steps a day for the rest of this week. I have removed many of the foods that I should not be eating from here. Some I took to the campgrounds for hubby and I gave away the other things that neither of us should really be eating.

Hope to see a solid pound gone tomorrow at weigh in. Gonna spend part of the day with my sister doing some garage sales. She needs some clothes and you never know what you may find lol

HUGS and BLESSINGS!!

Mary,
So nice to see your post. I think your down days are very understandable. It's bittersweet, but good that this wonderful man lives on in your memories and heart. My thoughts are with you.

Margaret, my best wishes to you and your husband --belated wishes, but very sincere.

Margaret, it's late in the day but emoticon ! May you have many more happy & healthy yrs together!

I did get to water therapy today. It is helping!

Thank you SP friends for your kind words of encouragement. I'm sorry I just had a really down few days but trying to pull myself back out of the slump. This time of year is always rough for me & my girls. 50 years ago this week I married my first husband/father of my girls then 32 yrs ago this week he died of an accident. Although our life is a happy one now, this week still brings with it memories & reminders of the heartaches of losing him.

Sounds like you have everything under control Agnes.

My day was go for my walk at 6;15 we managed to do 5 miles in 62 minutes then we made a stop at Tims for a fast breakfast. Then onto taking my friend to shop and then to therapy then after that was back to shopping at Walmart. Got back home at 3;45 this afternoon . Got a phone call to pick GD up at 5 and hubby was gone all day repairing lawn mowers so out I went again. Finally home at 6 . So much for our Anniversary diner. I told hubby we are eating in . I'm bushed and so is he. We'll do it another night.

Hope you all had a great day.

Hugs Margaret

Well been camping with limited internet time. But have done pretty good food wise and kept track so I could update my stuff. Walking was slower. I seem to have pulled something in my side and it is painful so was taking it some easy.

I have looked over my food choices the past week and see where I can make better choices as I go forward. I have eliminated items from the apartment that I should not be eating. They are at the camper as hubby can eat them. He needs extra calories lol. He is doing well there. It keeps him busy and Although I do worry about him at times, he is surrounded by friends and I spend as much time as I can there. So at the moment things are good stress wise.

Now to get some new walking in each day. The rains are on their way today so that will be a trial.

Hello '48er's,

Margaret, no change in the past 2 months with my measurements, but over the past year I've lost 6+ inches in the waist (where most of my "table muscle" was developing) and everything else has stayed the same pretty much.

Mary, as Margaret said, you do so much for us all there is no reason for any feelings of guilt or letting us down. You're our Hero and you take the lead on all that we do and achieve. You show how wonderful you are in your profession and I know your patient is probably the most excited to have you back. I know my DS has worked with "Make A Wish" and a group similar in Austin Texas and she still keeps in touch with 2 of the families and 1 of the children. You are an Angel on Earth Mary and thanks for all you do.

Hope all of you are doing well, and with that I'm off to the gym. Got to keep the steps over 10,000! Yesterday's calories were 1184 calories, 90g carbs, 34% fat,
114g protein and 31g fiber. Pretty much where I'd like to be every day except maybe just a bit more calories and less carbs + fat...Gym work was cardio and upper body work, where I'm increasing weights I'm lifting.

Til next time...

Carpe Diem,
Dwayne

Hi Mary,
You are not letting any down, so please don't give that a thought. In fact, you lift us up with the good life that you live and the example that you set. It's wonderful that you'll be working with this patient; I'm sure he will benefit by his relationship with you and the care you will give him. My dear cousin with Downs' Syndrome died a few months ago. There was not a more loving and kind person anywhere. Although she had many health problems, she lived into her 60s and I believe she had a good life and contributed to our family in many ways.
Best,
Agnes

Dwayne, keep up with the good work your doing it will pay off you'll see. Did you take your measurements yet? I'm anxious to hear about that.

Mary it's good to see you back home and safe. It sounds like your going to have some fun with your little patient. Maybe you'll be able to get him out for a walk with you if he is able to.
Your not letting us down at all. We all understand family comes first and we are human you know. LOL But also remember that you have to have time for yourself.

Hope you all have a great day.

Hugs Margaret

hello all. So sorry I have not been able to post more. I often feel that I let you all down at times & don't mean to. Going through a rough patch since we got home...well since last night but trying to work through it. I know it will work out in time.

Anyway, today I spent some time with my little patient whom I worked with for about 6 years. He is almost 13 now & has leukemia. Not doing too well. He also has Down's & heart disease & is a very loving child that is very near & dear to my heart. I did my CPR re-certification & drug screening today before I went to spend the afternoon with him. I will be returning to work as his nurse starting next week. He & his family is excited about that as I am also.

Anyway, MY Totals for today:
CALORIES=1401
CARBS=145
FAT=62
PROTEIN=73
FIBER=19

Thanks Margaret, I'll do that. As for the protein diet, I've been doing that for quite some time. My Dr. told me to cut down on carbs and I did and things were going fine, but now I've hit this plateau and it's been 8+ weeks. Trying to change my workouts a bit; more cardio, less strength training, so will see how that works.

Hope all of you out there are keeping your workouts going and moving forward.

Carpe Diem,
Dwayne

Dwayne, your tracker will tell you when your battery is low. If you follow the little pamphlet that you received with your tracker it tells you just what to do to change it. If I can do it anyone can. LOL

Dwayne, have you tried changing your diet for a week or so. That is what I use to do to break the plateau. Try a protein diet for a week with little carbs it just might do the trick.

Good Luck.

Margaret, thanks for the info on how to add "Friends". Informative and hope I don't bug everyone with my emails.

Off to the gym in a few; got 10,000+ steps average for last week. 1 day was below though. Need to change battery in my tracker. Is that info anywhere on the website? Need to look into that.

Weight is still in that zone between 195 and 200#'s. I just don't know what to do except tough it out and keep doing what I'm doing. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated and used.

Til next time.

We need to be “friends” to see each other’s fitness minutes and steps. To be my friend, click on “my spark page” to the left of this message. On my page, on the right side, click on “add as a spark friend”.

Then go to the “community” tab on the start page; it’s in the top banner. Go to “Friend Feed”. That takes you to “my friend feed” page. To the right of “my friend feed”, click on “Settings”. You’ll see a list of Items/Share Items/See. Click on “tracking fitness” for both columns (Share and See from Friends). Save your settings.

Now you should be able to see our fitness minutes in 2 places:

On the start page under #3 Browse Community Features, click on “Status & Friend Feed”. You’ll see your friends activities and also can click on “my activities” to see your own. This is for everyone, not just those with trackers.

Also, on your spark activity tracker page, on the right you’ll see “workout fitness minute leaders – June” “My friends and me” There I can see Margaret, Mary and me. The fitness minutes are not steps, but are fitness minutes (you have to walk for 10 minutes straight for the fitness minutes to count). Even so, it’s a great way to see how we’re doing. Right now Margaret has 255 minutes, Mary has 165, and I have 127. This is for June.

Bottom line, we all need to be “friends” to be able to see our fitness minutes.

Hope this helps.

Best,
Agnes

Happy Saturday everyone!

I totally forgot to weigh in yesterday as things were so hectic here but I weighed this morning and dropped 1.8lbs - now 142.8. The first loss in a few weeks for me.

Char you are doing great! I really believe that having a step counter encourages us to be more active. I like the idea of everyone posting their previous days steps. That gives us another avenue of encouragement.

Mary - sounds like your vacation is lovely! I haven't had vacation where I have been away for more than a day trip for many years but DH is planning a long day trip for next Wednesday to a provincial park with a few beautiful lakes and ponds and great opportunity for some nature photography. So I'm really looking forward to that.

Have a great weekend all.

This week has been a trial for sure. Yesterday I worked on my little flower bed. I am paying for it today as muscles I forgot I had hurt. But it looks so nice.

AND DRUM ROLL-- my tracker says I did 3,196 steps before I took it off for my shower!! So will try to do this a few days in a roll and then up my daily goal. I like Agnes idea of being able to share our tracker steps. I am however far below what others are doing but we can encourage each other to met our personal goals each day. So once you figure it out, you will have to teach me how to do it as well.

Today I am going to sort of take it easy as I do hurt a lot but still am going for my goal in steps. I just realized that the busier I stay, the less total calories showed at the end of the day. I just knew I overeat often just due to bordom. Have a good day all.

HUGS and BLESSINGS!!
