What a wonderful day we had! Got to visit with a former pastor & friend today. His wife & I shared in mission trips, working together in a church food & clothing ministry for several years before they moved out of state. Had a blessed day.

Agnes, your Thanksgiving sounds intriguing! Nothing says it has to be traditional. It IS after all the family & friends that join together that counts.

Hope all have a great weekend too. DH & I left for our 2 week vacation this morning & yes, I plan to watch what I eat this week also. I even brought my emoticon with me to make sure I'd be able to weigh in on Friday! emoticon Not my normal behavior but I sure don't want to let my team mate down or the rest of the group either & since we'll be gone 2 Fridays I figured that was the best thing to do.

I've started crocheting again. We'll be meeting a brand new great-great niece for the first time next week & want to have a baby throw ready for her so I'll say good night!!

Hi Mary and Everyone,

Mary, thank you for the tally, and all your work to encourage us and keep us on track to reach our goals. Yes, this week will be a challenge with all the good food and family and friends gathering. I am going to try to focus on the companionship and not the food. I do really, really like that I've lost some weight since the summer. My clothes feel better. I feel better. I don't want to lose that good feeling. For our family, my husband is talking about not having turkey this year. It will be us, one of our daughters and her boyfriend, and two friends of ours who do not have family nearby. We have vegetarians in the group and he is thinking of doing a very non traditional meal (Italian or Indian). Well, I'm ok with that since I don't do much if any of the cooking, although I do like turkey. The menu has not yet been decided, so I'll have something interesting to report later in the week.

Hope you all have a good weekend. We are very cold here, but it's supposed to get a little warmer tomorrow.

Looks like 2 lbs lost, 1.1 lb gained, 4 stayed the same, 1 unknown & 1 not reported. It's been a tough week at best. Thanksgiving week coming up & next Friday will be our end of the month report. Let's do this! emoticon emoticon

I'm down exactly one pound this week. Goes to show tracking and a bit of exercise each day does help. I hope to remember that.

Two birthdays this weekend - my daughter and my grandson. We are celebrating at our house so will be busy here tomorrow. I did a lot of prep work and shopping today.

Hi all,
Hope all is well.
I had no gain/no loss. Darn it all!!!! But its my own fault.

It is really really cold here. Was -4 this am and the wind is really cold. Could not get warm enough. Granddaughter has strep throat again. They say when she is older she may have to have her tonsils out, but not for awhile.

Well, gotta start dinner so I better run for now. Hope you all have a good weekend and will check in later.

No Worries Linda. We will do ok. I must find a scale to weigh today. Saddly didn't get to this morning and always more in the later part of the day. We will see. Making a pot of vegetable soup with some meat my son gave me. They don't do soups so I get the soup bones when they fill their freezer. Helps. Not much new, still snow on the ground but no new snow. Suppose to really warm up later and over the weekend. So snow should go away.

G ood Morning, Just got back from a short dog walk. It is raining outside and very windy. I weighed the same this morning. Sorry Char that I am not doing that well with the scale.
Must try harder to stay clear of the carbs as I know they sure put the pounds on me.
Today I have set aside to do some baking for Christmas. I have our son and GD coming to stay over the weekend as it is Ian's birthday. He always comes home to have Mom make him his favourite meal. We really enjoy his visits with us.
Watching the news about the weather in some parts of New York area. Wow, couldn't even imagine having so much snow. Burrr. We are very lucky here on the island. When we do get snow it only lasts a few days and then its gone again.
Best go and get busy.

Good Morning Friends,

We woke up to a load of snow this morning! It's beautiful and I'm happy to have a day at home with no driving in it.

I hope you are getting over the stomach flu Mary. I know what you mean about the grandkids sharing all their little germs with us. We had two grandkids stay with us since the weekend as their parents went to Vancouver to the Fleetwood Mac concert and stayed an extra couple of days to have a break before they move house next week.

I've been tracking my food this week and getting a daily dose of exercise so I think for this week I'm staying on track. Tomorrow's weigh-in will hopefully be a good one.

THis week hasn't been good. But is warmer today up to 24 already. I am going to go back to tracking everything that goes in my mouth. Have to keep on track since holidays are coming Hard to enter these GF foods. I have to hand enter as most are not even there when I search for them. UGH. But will make me stay aware of what I am eating.

Not good weather for walking. Bella hates the cold blowing her hair lol. But I am working to find other ways to get some exercise inside. Hope all are well and keeping warm.

Today, I took a two hour break to visit our friend and it quickly became almost four. When we arrived they were moving her to a different rehab.
We got her settled there, she is improving but has a ways to go to back on her own.

Mary, Hope you're feeling better really soon. My DW had the same thing last week and it lasted for a few days and she's better, but a little touch still lingers. I'm just kissing her on the forehead just in case. Makes no sense really sharing the same bed, rooms and house. Just hope you're back to your ol' spunky self real soon.

Thanks for the wishes for cool weather. It's just so odd to be 80+ degrees at Thanksgiving when it's supposed to be Autumn.

Seems like the cold weather & the business is taking us away from the tracking we had all been doing. So this morning I was determined to get back to it. Only problem is that I was rudely awakened at 3:30 this morning having to make a run for the BR with horrible nausea & vomiting followed by diarrhea. Had a visit yesterday from my great GD who had been sick with it all day so looks like she has shared it with me. As a result, I'm being very cautious about what I am putting in my mouth for fear of aggravating the beast.

Margaret, stay safe if you get out on the icy roads. You sure don't want to fall & break a hip or something! BTW, good tips to Deana for the breaks.

Deana, hang in there. Maintaining while stressed is not a failure!

Lynn, it's been windy here too. Sure makes that cold chill you to the bone!

Dwayne, Glad you're getting cooler weather. Wish we could send you more of ours! LOL

Agnes, Hope you're not having to travel much in that weather.

Deana, We are well suited for this challenge. We are both running around with our heads cut off and thinking we aren't doing anything good. But I'm sure once your stress level has dropped you'll see you a change in your self.

I haven't been able to walk outside yesterday the roads were pretty icy. I got out of the car at the shopping center and walked from one car to the next hanging on to each. I was glad that hubby had put the winter tires on the car.

Today is another day. Lets try to take a 10 minute break away from the computer and do some stretching exercise in. Even while your sitting there swing out your arms and do circles that will loosen them up and you'll feel better.

Hang in there Deana. We will do fine.

Hi All
I just put in an 11 hour work day so needless to say I am felling quite worthless right now.
All this sitting at the emoticon makes me want to go do something else.

Theresa, I am so happy for you! Great news.
Margaret, Wow, I am lucky to bake one batch of cookies, and often it becomes the little Betty Crocker pouch.
Lynn, same here, anything I bake seems to disappear instantly. I have to hide anything I want to keep over 24 hours.
Well, ladies and gentleman, I have not done well at all. I am maintaining, that is it.
We are running to the rehab where our friend is almost daily, and I am working, and just trying to survive. I feel like such a failure when it comes to this effort.
But I know that I am not, and maintaining when you are really stressed is good stuff, especially if like me you eat when stressed. I always wanted to one of those who lost weight when stressed out. emoticon

We have not had a focus for this week so thought we could share some tips instead. I just read this & thought of our discussion about needing to focus on sodium in our diet so here's my tip....
"Soda" and "Sodium" are key words that indicate salt content in food. Be sure to read food labels to help monitor your health.

Its almost lunch time so I thought I would drop a line, maybe this will make me really THINK about what I eat today...lol

Teresa, I am so happy for you. I wasn't so lucky.

Agnes, You will do good the rest of the week, I just know you will. I am trying really hard too. I was going to make chocolate covered pretzels, but haven't done that yet. I gotta bake cookies with the girls soon, and also freeze them or they will be gone in 2 days, no matter how many I make....really. Margaret, don't know how you can make so many in one day. Makes me tired just thinking about it.....haha

No more snow yet but that wind is SO hard and SO cold. It goes right through you. Have to take Sparkle to the VET today for his yearly checkup and shots. Not looking forward to having to go outside.

Well, its now lunch time and hubby is anxious...he likes to eat (weighs 128 soaking wet) so I better run.

Had a wonderful weekend at our nursing retreat. Did some traveling today with a friend from Montana. She leaves early tomorrow morning. We'll need to leave at at 4 a.m. to get to the airport for her flight home. Sure have enjoyed having her here this past week.

Have my pre-op visit with surgeon in the morning. Hope to get back to posting more regular after tonight.

Theresa, so happy for you. I've had 3 aunts and my Mom taken by the big "C". It's just a shame they don't put more effort into finding cures for it, instead of the "plague of the day." Now I'll step down off my soap box. Sorry about that.

Hope all of you are well and moving forward. Finally getting cooler weather here in So. Calif. But nothing like what some of you experience. I just know when it's hot my DW let's me know it...poor thing and she's a native!

Great news Theresa. News like that I'm sure everyone would be happy with.

We had snow all day today. I went out to the grocery store first thing this morning and then I vegetated up till 1 this afternoon. Then I made a stew for diner and finished up the baking that was started yesterday. That will be it till the 30th as hubby will be away again. I like to bake when there is no one around.

Whoa Margaret! I can get tired just thinking of doing all that baking in one day! We had the grandkids yesterday and my little granddaughter wanted to bake so we made a batch of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies but that was all. When parents came to pick them up it was late in the afternoon so I asked them to say for dinner. I had one cookie for dessert...yummy!

Lynn - you are doing terrific! It's nice that you can get on the treadmill and do a few minutes or cardio. You must feel so much better than before your surgery. You even sound energetic! LOL

I just got a call from my doctor this morning to say she had good news. No cancer found. She didn't say exactly what the lump was but as long as it doesn't start with the letter "C" I'm happy.

Today is circuit DVD for me and half an hour of cardio. I stepped on the scale this morning and was down half a pound since Friday. Now to hang on to that loss will be the trick!

I used to do tons of baking this time of year. Have not tried to bake since moving here. Electric cooking is new to me and I am just finally getting good on the range. Guess baking is next. Didn't do real bad this weekend but not super good either. Will be watching this week for sure. Need to keep going in the right direction.

About 5 inches of snow on the ground now with more due later today. No school so i dont' have to leave the house today to help transport grandchildren. Just slow day to enjoy the warmth inside.

That sure sounds like a lot of baking to me! No wonder you were tired. I don't do much baking at all unless we have some friends over for dinner. And even then, sometimes we just have some sorbet and brownies or something like that.

It's raining here now, and snow predicted for later. Not very pleasant rain as it is so cold and there is snow on the ground.

I didn't do well with eating this weekend, so I'm going to get back to business today. Friday will be here before we know it.

Good morning everyone. We had our first snowfall yesterday. It wasn't much but we know it's coming now. LOL. It wasn't to cold outside but it was real warm inside. I spent the day baking. It's amazing what you can't do anymore. When I use to say I baked all day it was nothing to do. But at the end of the day yesterday I could barely stand up. I sat down for a grand total of about 15 minutes all day. Then when hubby got home at 5 in the afternoon we went to diner at DD house. I sat there for about 35 minutes and then we were back home again. I was in bed at 8 . But I managed to get 3 Christmas log cakes done, 3 batches of date squares , 3 batches of a cookie called melting moments, a double batch of brownies, and a batch of shortbread. Gee putting it down on here it doesn't sound like much at all but I was washed out.

Today I will be doing more and trying to get it finished and out of the way in the freezer before it disappears. LOL I have a grandson living here with us at the moment and he loves sweets. But if I tape up the boxes and put them in the freezer I'm safe. LOL

Good weekend all

It is really COLD here. Feels like -12. And that wind is cold.....Makes me miss Florida....

Think I will go a walk on my treadmill today. Only, I go just for 10 minutes. Cardio won't let me go any longer yet. 10 min breaks me out in a sweat.

I don't have any new books right now. Don't know how I will spend my evening....lol

I have the girls, Mom and son had to go somewhere. Maybe I will make chocolate covered pretzels. I can't eat them without my teeth so I won't have any....ha ha.

Well, girls are yelling they are starving (lunch was 3 hrs ago) so I better go get them a snack until I can figure out what to make them for dinner.

Agnes, Brrrr it's cold here too! Sounds like a real nice musical you attended. It's nice to get out and take part of what we enjoy.

Mary - enjoy your nursing retreat. I hope your knee doesn't give you too much trouble.

I walked an hour on my treadmill this morning. It's just too cold to walk outside, it takes your breath away and not enjoyable at all to be out there if you don't have to. Hoping for a better weight loss this coming week. Got my stitches out on Friday but doctor didn't have results of the biopsy yet. Will probably hear from her sometime this week. In the meantime still thinking positive!

HI Everyone,

Brrrr....cold here, but I have to remind myself that it is winter. Last night we went to a musical at the high school with friends who are teachers at the school. It was fun. I haven't done that in several years since my daughters and their friends graduated from there. Sure, the orchestra was off tune and some of the singers were off key, but there was also some amazing talent on the stage and all of the students were really into it and gave it their all. A very nice evening. It was good to get out even though the roads were icy on the way back.

I feel like I'm coming down with a cold but it could just be the cold air affecting my sinuses. I'm happy it's Saturday.

Hey Lynn, good for you partner in your loss this week. Let's try for another pound each next week. Another week ahead everyone. Another week to move our goals forward. Have a great weekend.

Sorry I'm out of town for our nursing retreat but I I did weigh before leaving this morning. Sorry to say I was up 1 lb. It's been a hectic week with little sleep most nights & on the go every day. Have an out of state visitor until Tuesday.

Well, I am down 1 lb, to 211. Not quite the 1 1/2 I was looking forward to but it is better than a gain.

It has not snowed for a couple of days now but it is really cold. Only 21 today but not the really windy days we have had.

Well, Pizza is here, after all....it IS Friday.....LOl

Being gone and away from computer has been kinda nice. So it is weigh in Friday and I'm hanging on to 180#. No loss - no gain but I'm happy with that.

I'll try to catch up with all the posts I missed later but in scrolling through I saw that a few people are ill. Hoping you feel better soon.

It has been raining all day and it is now turning to snow. We need the moisture.

Been busy for sure. Hope now with this snow and cold that things will slow down. But then holidays are coming and are always busy but fun times. I'm down 4 pounds from last weigh in. Now sure how that happened. I am watching my food choices and portion sizes.

Eating gluten free is expensive but finding those type foods are more filling. So hunger is better controlled.I am starting to notice a difference in morning pains and energy.

We will see how the next couple weeks go.

Good morning, I am up 1 pound this week. Probably due to all the fluids I have been drinking to get rid of this cold. I am still coughing and plugged up. I am not doing that well with my food choices as my appetite is not that great now.
Great to read that the rest of you have been doing so well. Every little bit helps.

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all doing ok. It's snowing here, but we're only supposed to get ~3 inches so no big deal. It's still dark but I'm sure it will be beautiful to see when the sun comes out.

Tonight DH and I and friends are going to the musical at our high school - high excitement in a small town. Actually the students are very talented and it is a fun thing to do and supports the high school drama program.

I'm reporting in with a 1 lb loss, down to 141.5 today.

Thank you all for the birthday greetings. I had a good day, with a 2hr (!) nap in the afternoon. I was tired from the weekend of work and driving (5 hours each way). I also had a fabulous massage. A real treat.

We had a very pleasant mild day today, but the frigid weather is due to arrive tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to it.

Good Morning, I am feeling a little better, but this cold is still with me. Now I think DH is getting it. Pretty hard not to pass it around when you live in the same house.
Mary, glad that you have a date for your surgery. Not that far away so that is a good thing. Take it easy and keep those pains away as best as you can.
Margaret, I haven't even started thinking about Christmas baking yet. Seems the family might not even be coming this way this year, and I don't think that we will be travelling anywhere. Now that DH has the oxygen tanks we need to stay close to home to fill the tanks. Also we don't have snow tires which we would need to travel the Malahat. We don't drive in the snowy weather so it is good that we don't get snow that much or often.
It is cold but very sunny. I was going to try walking the dog, but hubby just told me to stay inside that he would take her.
Happy belated Birthday greeting to you Agnes. What did you do for your special day?
Best go now and throw a wash on. and do some cleaning.

Theresa, I see you posted while I was typing so wanted to say I am thinking positively with you for good results. A positive outlook always is best, even when the news is not the best.

I just learned that a friend of mine here has just been confirmed with a cancerous lump in her breast as well. They did an MRI to check for any other cancerous activity but found none elsewhere so a lumpectomy is scheduled for next Wednesday, the 18th.

Linda, yes, a scope on the knee Dec 10th to repair the meniscus & clean up the joint from the arthritis. I've been sitting more because of the knee & now having so much hip pain from the sitting. What to do! LOL Sure hope you feel better from your cold soon!!

Margaret, can I move to Bora Bora with you? LOL Hope you get to that baking soon but try not to do too much tasting when you do!

Lynn, by all means, don't drive in that snow if you don't have to! Good luck getting the energy burned out of the kids. If they are like most kids, we burn out just watching them. lol

I hope everyone is off to a good start this week health wise and in every other way.

Mary I hope the knee is tolerable. Counting down the days with you until the surgery! Let us know when the surgery date is and we can all do the countdown with you. emoticon

I got my 27 grams of fiber in yesterday and stayed within my calorie count. This morning I walked an hour on my treadmill. It is too cold and windy to walk outside today. I don't mind the cold as much as the wind and it was brutal today.

Linda - I hope to hear on Friday about the results of the biopsy and that is when I get the stitches out. I'm thinking positive!

Morning All,
Well, I survived the weekend. The kids mom in is Florida until Tuesday evening and I have been holding down the fort. Took them out to Jump and Down to run off some of their energy. Not sure how much it did tho. LOL

Did not track this weekend but I was 'aware' of what I ate. Hope it wasn't too bad. Friday will tell the truth. (oh boy!!)

Agnes, glad to hear you stayed the same. Gaining even a little is so disappointing. Lets work real hard this week and 'show our stuff'.'

Mary, I really hope your knee pain is lessening. My prayers are with you. And don't worry about how much you share your pain with us. That's what we are here for.

It snowed last night. The girls were so excited and wanted to go play in it. But it is not the kind of snow you can really play in. And beneath is snow is ice. I had 3 places I needed to go today but I am grounded from driving. Son does not want me on those roads. Which is fine with me. I wasn't looking forward to driving on them anyway.

Things have been happening around here. It seems every time I plan to do some baking or something to get ahead for Christmas my plans get put on hold by other family members. I think I should move to Bora Bora or somewhere else just to get my things done.LOL

Good morning all,

Just stopping by to say hello, and then I'm off to the final meeting for this trip. We should be done by 1 pm, and then I'll start the 5 hour drive home. It will be good to get home this evening. This will have been 3 full days of sitting - either in the car or in the meeting. Not good for our SP program, but I will get back to a better schedule when I return home.

I have not tracked, but I am sure I'm over the calories I should be eating. I've been eating on the lighter side, but still it's hard to tell what the tally is.

Not a good day for tracking for me today. I went over my calorie intake.

1519 calories 139 carbs. 63 fats, 34 protein 17 fibers. I still can't seem to get the fiber up to where it is suppose to get.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement with the knee pain. It was a good bit better today. Sorry to complain so much. I tend to type what I think & feel. Guess I should watch that...lol

My weight this morning was 183.2, a 0.2 drop from last week. I liked yesterday's weight better but still better than a gain. Sorry I did not track today as we were on the road most of the day then paid our respects at a friend's wake this evening.

I did read all the posts & wanted to say good job on Margaret & Lynn for your loss & to Agnes, Dwayne, & Theresa for maintaining. & to Deana, hang in there! I'm sure you'll do better net week. We'll all just emoticon

Well, this is Friday and I do not track on Fridays. However, I do stay aware of what I am eating so I don't go over too far. No pizza tonight!!!

I weighed in at 212 this week, down 1 lb. It's slow but its going down. Agnes, lets plan on 3 lbs between the 2 of us this next week. I think we can handle 1 1/2 lbs each, don't you....we can do our best!!!

Had my cardio rehab today. Did really good, no side effects, lightheadedness or shortness of breath or anything. My heart rate stayed right where it was supposed to and so did my BP. I am so glad.

Mary, I sure hope you can get that knee pain taken care of soon. It can really raise havic with your whole life when the knees are bad, I know...

Hi All
After spending the week running to the hospital, working and meetings, I am up a pound and have not done very well. Margaret, I promise I will do better next week. Good for you for being down 1. Our friend who is 69 did have a stroke they finally told us and it took until
Wed to find her Health care proxy, they now have her in a rehab facility and she is getting her speech back slowly.

Mary, sorry to hear about your knee pain.
I have to make a double batch of chili now for our Church faire tomorrow. I just finished work, so I better get busy.

I am reporting in with no gain/no loss --still at 142.5. I think that's good given the strange meals I've been having at night. My other big news is that our power went on during the night. I am so happy!!!!

Mary, I am so sorry to hear about your knee pain and the difficult day that you had. I hope that you can catch up on your rest and that your upcoming surgery will put you on a better path.

Sorry to say I did not do well today. I think I was right at the top of my calories at best & fiber only about half of what I had been taking in. I'll do better tomorrow.

I tracked again today. Did a better job than yesterday. I had 1,153 cal and only 17 grams of fiber. Gotta try harder huh.

Did my volunteering at GD school today. I work really hard there but I love it. I have read all my books and am waiting for a new shipment so I think I will go to bed early tonight. Kids are off of school tomorrow so I will need all my strength !!!

Hi Friends,
Still no power. I head to New Hampshire tomorrow for a weekend of work meetings. I'm looking forward to having power there. I'm also going to try to find the bran buds. Sounds like a good idea.

Good evening all! I actually got out & did some much needed grocery shopping today...well at least that was my intention but by the time I picked up medicine for DH's cold & cough plus my prescriptions & a few other necessities, I got a call that I needed to meet someone concerning GS's sewage permit so no groceries in the basket. LOL Then my DS came by to bring me some homemade wheat bread dough so we sat & had some Pumpkin Praline coffee & visited a while.

Knee felt pretty good today so I got some much needed housework done late afternoon so supper was soup & grilled cheese for DH & I had cottage cheese with WW toast & 1/2 cup of homemade cinnamon pears that I canned a while back. Yummy!!!
Total calorie for today: 1070, Carbs=151, Fats=33, proteins= 58, Fibers=24.. did much better with fiber today, just 1 gm off.

Margaret, well at least you & DH got some practice setting up the generator! LOL Just kidding but glad you were not out of power too long.

Theresa, great job on the fiber intake. I use to do the Bran Buds and sometimes ground flax seed but have been out for some time & forget to buy more. I loved that of yogurt! Need to get some soon. I agree with your gastroenterologist... I believe we too often overlook the fiber so that's why I thought we should focus on tracking it this week.

Agnes, sorry you are still without power. WOW, must have been some storm! Hey, with as much as you have going on right now it's understandable that you are not tracking or even eating correctly. Praying things get back to normal soon but I agree with you, we do have much to be thankful for & sometimes when everything is going well we all tend to take some of our conveniences for granted.

Lynn, good job on tracking today. It does help us to be more aware of what we are eating if we take the time to right it all down then putting into the program here gives us that breakdown that we can really see where we are lacking like the fiber. I like Theresa's suggestion of the Bran Buds too so give it a try! Maybe we can track the sodium next week. Good suggestion!! Good report on your pacemaker check!!

Well I'm off to bed have an early morning tomorrow to bring a friend to the doctor.
