Good Morning everyone,

I've just caught up on the posts for the past few days. Everyone is so busy! I've been under the weather since Friday evening so haven't eaten much or bothered to track or for that matter even turn on the computer. I do feel better today and will get in a short walk today and do my tracking.

Have a great day everyone.

Morning all,

We had an absolutely beautiful day yesterday and are expecting the same the rest of the week. The sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, feeling a little chilly tho, and the leaves are starting to come down. They sure were pretty. I love to walk in the leaves and hear them crunch under my feet.

I had a really big breakfast....shame on me....
I had:
cereal 3/4 c, 1/4 c skim milk, 1/2 bagel with 1 tbs. pumpkin spread. for a whopping 405 calories.
that's what I get for eating first and tracking afterward huh,. I will do much better the rest of the day.

I am walking a little on the treadmill each day. Therapy is helping me regain my strength. I had no idea how weak one becomes when they have heart surgery. I am doing well. I am still tired but I guess weighing over 200 lbs at 5'1" has nothing to do with that huh,....LOL

Well its time to balance the checkbook. Not my favorite chore but one that needs to be nonetheless.

I hope each of you have a great day and track well. Dwayne, welcome. Hope to hear from you often.

Later,
Lynn

Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

Kids always have a way of making us look at things differently. Even food. Most kids will eat a very well balanced healthy meal if we offer them the right things, and let them decide. Around here it's mostly fruits, cheese, veggies for snacking the grandkids are just as happy. So why do i eat so unhealthy? Because i'm too busy most days to stop and cook. It's proven fact that the best foods to eat are those that are the hardest to prepare.

Looked around here yesterday and will be replacing gluten foods with non-gluten as fast as I can. A few things pitched but finishing a few others. Should be gluten free by end of week. Those foods are more expensive. Why is it the good stuff for you is more expensive? No wonder so many are overweight. It is honestly more expensive to eat healthy.

Like everyone else it is rainy here. Bella don't like being wet so walks are shorter. It's cold as well so walking in the rain isn't good on the bones. WIsh I could afford to join the Y. It is basically in my back yard. Will be working on the budget to see if that can become a reality soon. Well have a great day all.
Breakfast was the last english muffin w/ butter

Good morning everyone. Rain here also for the rest of the week. I think I'll be going to the mall to get some walking in. I'll have GGS again today and we have to get him to use up some energy. LOL

Yesterday we spent the day putting up Halloween decorations. GGS loved to help . He got excited at everything we took out. He thought the skeleton's head was funny. Sometimes I'd like to get into his head and just see what he really sees.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi All,

Dwayne, so nice to have you join us. I think it's great that you went to the gym yesterday. One day at a time, one moment at a time. We need to celebrate our successes.

I actually tracked my food all day yesterday, and I haven't done that in a long time. My tally: 1286 calories, 138 carbs, 68 fat, 55 protein, and 25 fiber. Not bad at all. I've been walking quite a bit but the weather for the rest of the week is supposed to be very rainy so me and the dog will have to figure out how to deal with that. Neither of us are too pleased with the rain.

Here in Maine the leaves have been beautiful, but now the tourists are leaving, many of the restaurants are closing for the season, and winter seems to be coming fast. In a way I'm looking forward to the quieter season.

Hope you all have a good day.

Agnes

Hi Bernie, My first name is Dwayne. Day hasn't gone exactly as planned, but I did make it into the gym. That was the high point. Sometimes things don't go just as planned, but they go as they're meant to go I guess.

Hope all of you are well, more tomorrow.

LCDDUB, hi. Just wandering if you would share your first name with us? It sounds like you have a great day planned. I live in the country so I usually exercise at home. Would be nice to be near a gym.

I am still going through boxes in the garage. When we were remodeling DH packed up everything and now is time to bring it back in or get rid of it. The plan is to have an empty garage by next MONDAY! I am ready for this to be over so I can get back to my quilting!

Breakfast today was the same ole thing shredded wheat n bran, 2% milk and coffee. Let's make every day count toward our weight loss goal!

Mary, hope you are feeling better. I think someone else was feeling sick too but I can't remember who - wishing all good health.

Today breakfast is a smart tortilla and scramble eggs with a little non fat mayo.

Total was 314 calories, 14 fat, 29 carbs., 18 protein.

Char, I have a friend that her daughter was very ill and nobody seem to know what the matter was. While she was in hospital the dietician found that she was allergic to wheat so she has been gluten free ever since and no more pain.

Buy giving it a try for 60 days you'll see if it's the problem for sure. Good luck.

Hope you all have a great day.

Crazy weekend. Had a foster grandson and he is a real trip. Sat night went with my son and his GF to the VFW to hear a new band. It stuck me very plain that I started gaining weight when i stopped dancing/walking. At one time I would go dancing every fri/sat night. Then hubby stopped drinking and we quit dancing. I was always chasing kids but that just didn't take the high energy that dancing for several hours takes. And I don't dance around home either.

I used to blame inactivity on lower back pain and knee pain. Inactivity adds to that pain. I have a question. I know that if I eat too much white stuff (pasta, etc) the pain intensifies. So i've switched to mostly wheat stuff. Still if I eat too much the pain is back. My daughter just found out she is sensitive to Gluten. She started eating gluten free and has lots less pain. So today I am going to go Gluten free for 60 days and see how it effects me as well. Does anyone here have problems with gluten? Did some research on it and some of my pains fit the pattern. Time will tell.

Breakfast today was couple scrambled eggs with Cheese and Spark w/apple juice.

Quick post before Sunday Night Football starts. Hope all is well with everyone and you're enjoying your weekend and families. Yesterday was a really long day for me; up at 6:30 AM and back to bed at 5 AM due to a family issue, but all is good, I'm just a bit pooped today! Back at it in full tomorrow. You all take care....

PS: MFLOYD6, thanks so much for the kind and encouraging words. That's what is so great about this website. None of that garbage that accumulates on other sites, bad attitudes, etc.
Glad to see so many positive people in 1 place.

Hi everyone. I spent a quiet day at home by myself today. I got a lot of work done . I vacuumed the house , washed all the floors (after 4 dogs had a field day dirtying them up ). Made up a pair of curtains for grand daughters room which will cut the light more. Then I repaired 2 pair of pants for my DDL . Then I washed the carpet in the family room. I just got to sit down and hubby was home again. Needless to say I'm pooped out. LOL

Yesterday hubby and I went to see a new Christmas Boutique. What a beautiful place. We walked around there for about 2 hours. I drooled over many things but didn't buy anything. We will be going back that's for sure. I plan to take GGS with me . There is so much to see. I love Christmas and hubby helps me decorate everywhere in and out . It's my favourite time of the year. Hubby's favourite time is Halloween and he's getting geared up for that.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Hugs Margaret

Hi Everyone,
It's gotten colder and wetter here this weekend, but still nice. I had a few nice walks and lunch with a friend yesterday. We went for a walk and then treated ourselves to lunch. I've been tracking and pretty much doing what I need to do to lose this weight. I hope to do well this week and report some success on Friday. Yesterday I was at 1300 calories - so/so, but most days are quite a bit less.

I hope you all have a very good week.

Best,
Agnes

LCDDUB, that's not a bad drop in weight in a week. Good for you! I agree, it's harder to lose it at 66 that it was even at 46 or 56. But trying is part of the battle. I've been on SP 4 yrs now I believe & have loved it. So much here in information, recipes, & motivation but the best has been this group of 48er's that means so much. Loving it here.

Good afternoon all,

Didn't realize about "Weigh In Fridays" until afterwards as I start my weeks on Sunday and
end Saturdays. Anyway; for the week I was down 1.12#'s. Not the pace I'm trying to achieve, but I'll take it. Being 66, male and trying to drop a significant amount of weight will take time I know, but since I've found "SPARKPEOPLE" it seems to have become easier. It seems like just a couple of years ago I could drop weight quite a bit easier than now. I guess that's part of "growing up". Hope all of you are will. Have a great weekend and back on Monday.

Quiet day today. DH on call so he had to go into work this afternoon & I had the house to myself. Still doing lots of coughing. No energy. Managed to do washing & that's about it.

Breakfast was a slice of WW toast, 1 tbsp PB, & a small yogurt. Lunch was leftovers of my own version of hamburger helper with ground turkey, WW elbow macaroni & frozen stir-fry veggie mix. Not sure of the calories but definitely healthier than a boxed meal.

Good afternoon all,

It is really cold here today. We had a couple of mid to upper 60's so 52 is COLD. Might get on the treadmill for awhile after I do my Saturday chores.

No pizza last night. We went to Culver's which is a very upscale McDonalds. Better choices better for you. I did good,. DH got a pumpkin shake and I had about 1/4 C of it. Didn't do too bad for the entire day. Today, and the rest of the week I will be very careful and try to lose between 1-2 pounds. That means I have to track everything that goes in my mouth, nothing left out....

Well, chores are calling so I better run. I want to be able to read later so must work now. Isn't it the way it goes LOL.

Hope you all have a great day, and hope everyone is feeling better. Throat is still sore but not bad as it was.

By the way I forgot to check in with my breakfast this morning. My DIL made a fantastic breakfast of eggs, hash browns and sausage all scrambled together, with a little bit of cheese. I had 1/4 cup of it and one slice of light toast, a banana and a cup of coffee with half and half. I think it was 255 calories.
Lunch was 1/2 c of leftovers from Thursday....1/2 cup dressing and chicken bake, 1/4 c cottage cheese and 1/2 c pineapple chunks...
Snack was 1 oz sharp cheese
Don't know what dinner will be but I have been really good today so I know I will do well tonight....

Talk to you later.

Cheers,
Lynn

Hi,
Char, I am with you. Staying the same weight though I have been trying to keep the calories down. I think that eating two big Thanksgiving dinners did me in for losing. I will keep trying as our team needs to keep plugging along. I am looking forward to the end results from the teams.
The weather here yesterday was terrible winds and rain, but today we have the sunshine back. Lots of leaves etc. to be raked up, but they will have to wait. I have the painter coming on Monday so must get everything moved out of her way. New furniture for the bedroom should follow after that. I am getting excited.
Sorry I have not been too active on here but I don't seem to find time to get to the computer. I hope that you all feel better soon as I have read about lots of problems with some of you gals. The time of year for flus etc. is upon us again. I must check out with dr. when I can get my shot.
Tonight we are going out to play cards with a friend. Hope that DH will be alright as he does get very short of breath as the day wears on. He has his oxygen now, but that doesn't seem to help him that much.
Best go. Cheers, Linda

Wasn't near the internet yesterday to weigh in. Still the same, frustrating to say the least as I have tried to really stay in the right calorie range. Guess I need to up my exercise and move more!!

Back to camp as soon as pack food for the week. We will be cleaning and getting ready to winterize etc. Will stay intouch best I can. Good luck all, end of month is coming and I hope we can all show even small losses.

I had a long post typed up & lost it all. Too tired to do it all again. Sorry. Did read all the posts & have to say emoticon Bernie for being the top loser and Theresa right behind so far today!

The rest of us will try harder the coming week, right ladies? emoticon

On the other hand I believe I'm the only one that went backwards this week as I gained the 0.4 lbs that Theresa lost. emoticon

Today my GS had a doctor visit, a chest x-ray, blood work & a shot. He was a big boy so got to chose where he wanted to eat. Of course it had to be McDonald's. I ate a grilled chicken wrap. Supper was a grilled shrimp salad.

Hi all,
I stayed the same this week, stuck at 213 (too many hush puppies I think!!)
Little one has strep throat again. I took her to the doctor and told her if she was good I would get her a special treat. She had to be held down to swab her throat but other than that she pretty good so we went to store and bought....yup...cupcakes. I ate a chocolate one....good thing today is my eat what I want but be careful day.

Today I had:
3/4 c cocoa puffs, 1/2 c skim milk, 1 slice light bread toast and a small banana
ham and cheese sandwich with 1/2 c pineapple chunks and 1/4 c cottage cheese
for snack I had 1/2 c kemp vanilla ice cream and later a mozzarella cheese stick.
Total so far today is: 722 Calories 115 Carbs Fat 16

Elisa is standing next to me and says hi to everyone. She is 5.
Elena is also near me and wanted to say hi to everyone. She is 8

Well, better go. Am hoping to get a chance to take a short nap. DIL wants to go out for dinner tonight instead of getting pizza. Do not know what she has in mind. Will be careful tho.

Have a great night and will check in tomorrow.

Lynn

Hi Margaret,

I'm right there with you. No loss/no gain. I've been eating a little bit more and not exercising as much because the weather has been awful with torrential downpours for 2 days. I know we'll both do better next week.

Hi All, Haven't posted in a couple of days. Life just kind of gets away from us at times. Wow, sounds like quite a few of the group are coming down with flu and colds. Hope all of you are well really soon. Take it easy on yourself and don't worry about the workouts. They'll be waiting for you when you're feeling better. Take care all.

Just checking in with a reminder of weigh-in Friday reports for tomorrow & ask if anyone has an idea of a "focus" for the coming week.

Coughing allot & not feeling well. 5 y.o. GS has been running high fever for a week now. Started him on breathing tx today & will be in the dr's office for the 2nd time this week in the morning. Probably will do blood work & chest x-ray. I've been really concerned about him.

Hi everyone. It sounds like it's time to put new onions in your rooms. My grand daughter that is staying with us came out of her room and asked why I had put an onion in her room. The answer I gave was she works with the public and I didn't want any of the germs coming home to us. I've already changed mine twice. Don't forget as soon a it starts to turn black or even brown pitch it out and start a new one. When I was working at Walmart the ladies I worked with couldn't figure it out . They were all down with bad colds and flu and I was in close contact with them and didn't get any thing. So if you have an onion to spare what have you got to lose. Give it a try . Don't forget to peel it first and cut off the top and bottom and put it in a bowl besides your bed. It only smells for a little bit but then your good to go.

Besides that. Do any of you ladies really love Christmas??? It's my favorite time of the year. This year my girlfriend has just told me of a new Christmas shop that has opened not to far from my sons place . Now I just have to get hubby into the mood to come along with me. He's great when it comes to decorating outside and we have decided to put the lights up early this year. The next nice day that's our project. We won't light them but at least it won't be so cold when we do it.

Breakfast was a tortilla with 2 eggs and a little grated cheese. 314 calories 29 carbs, 14 fat, 18 protein.

Mary I hope your feeling a little better today.

Lynn grandchildren are so generous when they share all their little sore throats or coughs. be careful.

Uh Oh, sounds like the fall/winter colds are on the way. I'm ok so far, but I know those bugs are out there. The external reviewers showed up yesterday at work and I went to dinner with them. It was definitely a working dinner for me, but all went well. I did have a glass of wine, but no appetizer, no dessert, and grilled fish and veges for dinner. I think I did ok.

Mary - I hope you are not getting one of those nasty sinus infections that you have told us about in the past. Please take care of you.

I had a successful day tracking all my meals again today. I'm hoping to make it a long term habit.

total calories - 1342, carbs 185, fat 35 and protein 83
45 minutes on my elliptical trainer and 15 minutes on the treadmill.

This afternoon I picked up my grandkids from school as they only had a half a day due to parent teacher interviews. My granddaughter has a cold so I hope she didn't share her germs with us today....lol....as you all know, grandkids, especially grandkids that are in school are germ factories, but we love them so much.

I have a long day at work tomorrow and then have to shop for groceries to cook a birthday dinner for my sister on Friday who is turning 65 so might not get to check in.

Hugs,
Theresa

Just checking in quickly before I turn off the lights. Worked in the garage again all day. I think I did pretty well with my eating today having my same ole shredded wheat n bran, 2% milk. I did have some wine this evening when I took a break with DH to watch the sunset.

Lynn and Mary, hope you feel better soon.

Evenin' all

I completely lost track of time today and forgot to check in.

I had 1/2 c egg beaters with 1 sl cheese in an omlette and 1 slice of Sara Lee bread toast for breakfast. Can't forget that coffee with 4 Tbs. Half and Half.

I did a lot of running today, doing laundry, cooking, taking the granddaughters outside for an hour or so and I did not track today. I was careful tho and think I did not do too badly.

Well, I am feeling a little under the weather tonight. Throat and ears hurt. GD says the same thing. She is 5 and says she wants to go to bed early. Boy, she must not feel good....LOL Think I will follow suit and call it a day early too. I might try to read for half an hour or so, which for me is no time at all.....

Will check in tomorrow.

Nite all,
Lynn

Hello everyone, sounds like everyone is trying hard to keep up with life in general as well as with the group. We'll naturally do better some days than others with posting, tracking, & eating too.

I'm not feeling well for several days now with a cold or sinus infection coming on. Today I woke up with a horrible headache & scratchy throat. Coughed allot last night so rib muscles really hurting too.

Skipped breakfast except for coffee. Ate lunch of brown rice & chicken casserole. Not sure of the calories. Trying to get allot of fluids down & taking extra Vit C.

Good morning all. I just read the posts and realized that I hadn't post in a while. I'm sorry for that, it's just been pretty hectic the last few days.

I'll try to do better in tracking and posting.

Today for breakfast I has a breakfast cookie 190 calories.

Been a very busy week for sure. Spent some alone time with hubby at the campgrounds. That means little to no time online so tracking has not happened. I have however been careful with what I eat and hope that when I weigh this week it will show good news.

I am hoping to get some sort of tracking device. I have a pedometer but it dont' register well. Lot of my steps dont' seem to count if I stop and restart walking, like with my dog. Or working around the apartment. I know how many steps around my building so try to do that walk a number of times each day to get in walking. It's hard some days and the past couple days at the campgrounds have been rainy. I am looking into the local Y. I think I can get some assistance with a membership which would be great.

Eating has been pretty good. Lots of veggies and fruits. Will get back to tracking and hope to find some sort of exercise that works with these bad knees. Sounds like everyone is doing pretty good. WTO Should be a great weigh in at month's end.

Hi Everyone,
Nice to see all the posts. I have missed a few days of tracking and reporting meals. Mostly my breakfasts have been a 100 calorie English muffin and 1-2 T of peanut butter. It's a busy week for me at work as I have an external review team coming today who will be evaluating our progress on a very large project. I'll be happy when it's over on Friday. Although I'll be eating out with them I have vowed to myself to be careful about what I order.

I'm enjoying my step tracker. My goal is to have an average of 8000 steps a day. I think the overall goal that I've read about is 10,000 steps but I know I can't reach that every day. 8,000 is not easy for me except on the weekends.

Hope you all have a great day.

It has been a long hard day and I just made it into bed. Had to jump up and get my computer because I almost forget to check in.

For breakfast the last several days I have been having 1.25 cups Shredded Wheat n Bran cereal, 1 cup 2% milk, 1 cup coffee with coconut oil and stevia. I didn't track again today but I have eaten well and with all the work in the garage I am sure I am getting a workout as my body tells me so.

Deanna, It is never to late to start. Glad you are going to give it a go and wishing you well.

Mary and Lynn, we do seem to be so busy now that we are "retired". I look back and wander how did I ever work so many hours every day. And I admire all that are still working. I think I am actually still working with all my volunteer time, babysitting, etc...... but......I'm no longer getting paid to do it. LOL

Ah well, here is to another long day in my garage tomorrow.

And to all ...a good night.

Good evening,
This is the first time I have had time to check in. Seems I am even busier now that my granddaughter is in Kindergarten.

I had 3/4 c cheerios, 1/2 c skim milk and a banana for breakfast
1 slice toast and coffee w/3 Tbs. Half and Half for mid-morning snack
Leftovers from yesterday for lunch
Baked fish, garlic pasta and hush puppies for dinner

I have ordered one of those step counters. Should be here in about a week. I am hoping seeing how active I am NOT will encourage me to aim for a few more steps each day until I am doing a pretty good amount. Walking the treadmill will help me too.

Well, its late and I would really like to read for a little while before bed. Kids are off from school now until Monday so I don't have to get up quite so early....yeah!!!

Have a good nite and will talk with you soon.

Hugs.

Hi Everyone,
So nice to read that we are all trying our best at this challenge. I had a lovely weekend. The weather was great, and we didn't do much of anything at all and that was good. Some nice walks interspersed with chores and work. It was perfect. Today it's back to reality for me. I have a meeting that starts at 7:30 am and then it will be full tilt for the rest of the day. I will try to report one or more of today's meals.

Best,
Agnes

Hello all,
I just lost my long post greeting each of you and I am too tired to write it all out again. Just wishing good times to those celebrating Thanksgiving, encouragement to those going through difficult times and applause to those who are doing so well tracking and exercising.

Spent the day cleaning in the garage so I am hurting and ready to go to sleep.

And welcome back to our new friend hope you join us often.

Hello Gang,
Yesterday was Football day for me so I did some stretching and cardio exercise while watching. For those of you enjoying cooler weather, I wish we had some here in California. 90 today and we can't seem to catch a break with the rain. I'm hoping and praying for a wet winter; may sound crazy but this state needs it. Sorry, got onto a rant there...anyway, today went back to the gym; another 45 minutes of cardio and 60+ minutes of strength training. Switch to lower muscle group tomorrow, Wednesday is cardio only day, then back to it all. This new routine ( inspired by Coach Nicole) is way more enjoyable and I'm not as dreadful about going. We all have those moments of "how can I get out of my workout today?". Don't go for it. You'll be glad you did...see you all later!

Good morning alll,

I have been MIA for a few days. Sorry about that. I have been SO very busy. Had a funeral on Saturday for a dear elderly lady from Church and had people over later in the day. So Friday was busy buying groceries and cleaning house, plus the laundry that is always done. I even forgot it was Friday until Saturday Morning. I had stayed the same. Sorry Team......I will do better this week. They have me walking on my treadmill at home for a few minutes at home each day and I think that will help me be more aware of what I am doing.

Would love to walk outside and enjoy the changing color of the leaves but it is kinda nippy for me. Has been in mid 50's now for quite a few days. That wouldn't be so bad except that silly wind has to come with it. That makes it too cold for me!!! Must be that Florida Blood.

Happy Thanksgiving to all who are celebrating it in October. I love Thanksgiving and can hardly wait. I absolutely love the Stuffing...And I feel stuffed after dinner...LOL

Well, gotta go put laundry to wash then its on the treadmill for me. (for a whole 5 minutes!!)
I guess every little bit helps huh.

I did not count my calories for breakfast but had:
Breakfast Burrito, Coffee with Half and Half and a Banana
I am guessing it was around 325 or so.

I hope all of you have a great day and will talk to you later.

Hugs,
Lynn

Hi Friends,

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm looking forward to ours in November. Love that turkey dinner.

I'm holding at last Friday's weight, and that's good, but it's a struggle. Last night's dinner was corned beef, cabbage and lots of other vegetables. Not too bad I guess but I can feel the salt.

Hope you all have a good day. For me, it will be a work day, but working from home so that is good.

Best,
Agnes

Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian Friends!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend.
I have not been doing well; my office closed and I am setting up a home office. Lots of work and more emotional than I anticipated.
A big lifestyle change not to be able to go to a office.
I have not lost any weight, not tracked and I am failing the team. I will try to start over tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving day or should I say weekend. emoticon mm emoticon emoticon emoticon

I've been on the go all day running around getting things ready for our family dinner tomorrow. It's the only day that we could all get together with everyone's work schedule. There will be about 20 of us and we will celebrate all the birthdays for the month of October seeing there are 6 of them. It saves on the Birthday Cake. LOL

I'm having our turkey dinner and I'm making apple pie, and raspberry pie, and chocolate cake. I also thought I would try a new thing for the kiddies. It's made with cresent rolls and you roll up a piece of apple up in it and bake it . That's just the basic but I think they will like them .

No tracking except for breakfast which was a tortilla with egg and cheese . The rest of the day not so good. Hopefully better tomorrow.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

Hugs Margaret
