My daughter has this beautiful tree with flowers that look like red/orange carnations all over it; it's about 10 feet tall. Having never seen this before I decided to try to start one from a hardwood cutting. I dipped the cutting in hormone powder, put it in a bucket of dirt and set it in a sheltered place. Any suggestions to make this successful? I can easily take extra cuttings with no harm to the tree as it has lots of little branches coming off low down where they won't be noticed. We live in Zone 7b. Also any idea what this tree might be?
