This is really good. I will think of this every time I see cake.

Being thinner feels better than cake tastes.

I try to not bring anything in the house that I can't stay out of (donuts, chips, pasta) and then eat them (if I'm having a craving) when we go out to dinner. I also found that when I cut way down on the amount of artificial sweeteners I was consuming, my cravings for simple carbs were greatly reduced. Cutting back on them also make fruit taste much better so I guess it's true that they do mess with your sense of taste.

COOKIES!!!!!! I have seen more Girl Scouts cookies this year than ever before. I have not had a craven for them like before. I think I'm gotten past the junk food.

I have cake and other sweets on special occasions.

Gotcha beat. I average about 1/2 to 1 lb per month. I am way past the "I am dieting to lose weight" thinking. This has become a way of life for me. I now love healthy food more than the junk I used to eat. I don't deny myself much of anything. But cake ice cream and Doritos just aren't that good anymore.

If I ever do reach goal (8 more lbs) nothing will change.

It works if you make gradual lifestyle changes that become so much habit that when you do ieat cake most often it doesn't even taste that great. Cheat days are not a good habit to get into. Are you tracking your food and exercise? Are you making substitutions for the cake you crave? Wishing you well but it will take a strong commitment on your part!

I know the feeling--I have it too. I struggle to not eat everything in the house some days and others I seem to manage. Only plan one day at a time. Today I will ____. It helps, but gets old until you find something new that helps everything along another step. emoticon

Over the last year I have quit drinking pop. I stopped eating salt except on the rape occasion I eat potatoes or popcorn. I usually only drink alcohol, eat sweets, pasta or anything fried on cheat day. I went from never exercising to exercising almost every day.
I've tried as few as 1200 calories a day and as much as 1900 calories a day and every where in between.
I have had periods where I've not stuck to plan as well but over all I'm doing way better than I was a year ago. With all the changes I've made one would think I would have gotten rid of a fair number of pounds. Nope not unless one considers less than 15 pounds in a year a fair number.
Right now I just want to throw in the towel and eat cake, chocolate and pasta until I either get tired of them or die. emoticon
