It was windy, cloudy and cool yesterday. A good indoor day. I gave my dog Hailley a bath and scrubbed down the shower. I dozed in my chair off and on most of the afternoon while watching football. I got a good nights sleep and hope to get more housework done today. It is supposed to be windy again and cool. Have a great day.

Talked to my cousin last night who is 85 yrs old. She just had knee replacement surgery and is doing well, however the side effects from the anesthetic and pain medicine are making her very sick.

it is just one foot in front of the other or back of the other if walking backwards or to the side of the other if walking sideways as I do all three of them not all at once but at times to change my workout

Molly, you are so right. One step at a time. If you keep putting that foot in front of the other it adds up. Slow is better than not at all. We all need to keep moving.

JREIDY, that is wonderful that you are able to still be so active and do those things. I would love to be able to do some of the things that I used to do but will be happy with what I am now able to do. Keep up the good work.

Exercise for me is not to just lose weight. It is what keeps me alive. I have COPD and not exercising makes my lungs fill up and not work so exercising really helps my breathing even though there are days when it is impossible. I do know that a person does need to be active along with a healthy diet in order to really lose weight. Keep up the good work. .2 is better than 0. It will happen if you just keep it up. Don't give up.

Those bikes and other gym equipment really take up space. We put ours in the garage and have to deal with heating and cooling bills. Hubby uses the eliptical hours each day because his blood sugar levels were out of control even though he's on meds. It really is helping. I started the stationary bike to lose weight, but not sure if it really helps. But it keeps me busy for a bit.

I don't walk outside right now either. I just walk around inside. I used to use a treadmill but didn't like that so now just walk the floor. It works for me. I don't have all that much space to have a large bike and that is why I was looking at the xbike. I don't have problems yet with my balance so don't have to be too careful in that way. I am sure it will come.

Ladies, reading your posts and I admire how you all just keep taking a step at a time ! That's the recipe for success. Just weighed myself and lost .2 of a pound. I am journaling and am within my caloric limit. I am trying to concentrate on other changes than the scale. My husband, who's so supportive said, that's good, you did great but I said that's a pound every five weeks ! Trying to move more and drink more water as well. I think that makes a difference for me.

hi Sharon.... I'd go for a bigger bike, only because the seats are uncomfortable as it is. Walking is better when the weather isn't too hot or muggy, the way it's been since late June. Have a fun one everyone!

Good job Molly. I walked 32 minutes yesterday and I wish I had a bike and I would add that to my morning workout. I keep seeing the add for the Xbike on TV and keep thinking I should check it out but when seeing a price of 19.95 I think it is too cheap to be a good bike so I haven't done it. I guess I will just have to go without for now. Have a good day everyone.

I found the limited mobility sitting chair exercise to be a very good place to start. Just do what you can and hopefully you will move on to something more challenging. I was surprised how much I could do and how much better I felt after these exercises. I would love to do them twice a day but we will see. Any movement is better than none so let's do what we can today! God bless you and may you heal very fast!
Bad knees and lower back are my weakness and I know giving up and just sitting is not an option. Let me know how you made out with this......

I was born in 1940, recently had surgery on my right foot (two neuromas removed and the bone below my pinky toe "shaved'). The gimping and uneven gait are causing me misery.

I have bad knees and a bad lower back, so getting down on the floor or into the tub and then back up are impossible. I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks,
Renie

Yes, born 1938 and so happy others over 50, 60, 70 and maybe 80 are here to support each other. Age is not everything but part of our problems (if you want to call them that) come with age. I am thrilled to find "limited Mobility exercises" and can't wait to move up from beginner to intermediate. This is my sixth day and I do not have too much trouble with diet but struggle with exercise.

Good job Keyslady. It really seems to help me when I track my food. Keep up the good work. Had a pretty good day yesterday and feel good this morning. I will get my groceries this morning and see what I can get done. Rained pretty good yesterday and we needed the rain so I was happy. I finally got a pretty good nights sleep last night. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Been very busy this week. It's been so crazy that we had to cancel a trip for next week. Been keeping my head above water with SP, writing my food intake each day and reading message boards. Taking each day at a time. Appreciate all the support that is given on this board. Have a great weekend,

I had a little tougher day yesterday but was able to clear the airways by about 2:00. Just in time for my haircut. It was so nice to get that done with. Today I will get my walk in and see what I can get done. It is drizzling outside so will have to stay in. Have a good weekend.

I know that if I deny myself my favorite foods then it seems like I set myself up to fail. If I allow myself to eat my favorite foods in moderation I can stick with the plan. I love my chocolate and ice cream and sometimes like a real unhealthy type casserole but if I have lots of vegetables with the meal I can take a very small portion of the casserole. I love my vegetables and fruits so it makes it easy.

it is always better to try to lose as slowly as possible then it makes it easier on you & makes it more permanent at least that is what I think too rigid dieting may make you frustrated

I lose in spurts as well. But in my case I think it's more that I get tired of the struggle so I basically maintain for a while (lonngg while!) until I can get motivated again. I've tried many times in the past few years but THIS TIME I'm getting it together like never before...joining message boards, doing the challenges, etc. along with tracking. Before it was only about the food but getting involved in the whole process has given me new energy to succeed... and it's given me a vision to succeed which I had been lacking !!

I know that I would benefit by losing the 17 to 25 pounds but I am feeling good with what I have lost. I also am not gaining weight so that makes me happy. It is a good thing to lose weight slowly and I sure have done that. It seems like I can lose 5 pounds and then I don't lose again for another year. Strange.

I weigh every day. I also try to walk every day. I should start tracking my food again. I have maintained my current weight for almost a year now but still need to lose about 17 to 25 pounds. I feel good where I am at and my doctor doesn't seem worried.

Thanks for your input, Iwillbewell. I weigh myself almost every day. I find that if I went off my eating plan it takes 2 days to show on the scale. But weighing myself most days helps me to stay on track . I've joined a challenge and have been doing that as well. Being part of a group is very encouraging. Have a great day, everyone.

I had another fairly good day. Walked 25 minutes and got outside for a little. Had a problem with groceries and had to come home. Tina went back and got the groceries. It was a cool and sunny day and very pleasant. Hope today is good too. Have a good day.

KEYSLADY2,
If you haven't exceeded your starting weight, that is a positive. How often do you weigh yourself and do you always do it at the same time of day? I was advised to weigh myself when I first get up in the morning, which I have been doing. I try to avoid the scale if I've eaten the wrong things. Go a couple of weeks before you weigh yourself.

It was mostly a good day yesterday. I walked 25 minutes. Today I will walk again and will get outside to do some yard work if it doesn't rain. It will be cooler today and easier to do things. Hope everyone has a good day today.

When does it kick in is a great question. I keep going around the same mountain. I lost 10 lbs a few yrs ago. And have been maintaining. Losing and gaining the same three pounds. I think I'm just exhausted with the Constant effort. emoticon But I keep on doing and like the turtle I take a step at a time...! emoticon

Nice to meet you Keyslady. Exercise is very important but so is having the right amount of calories. It sounds like you are eating healthy.
I was able walk 25 minutes yesterday and I will stay at that for about a week. Then will increase it again. Got some nice rain last night so I am happy. Have a good day.

Hi, everyone. I rejoined SP last week and just found this board. Have trouble losing weight but think that I need to exercise more to rev up my metabolism. Had a good day today with around 1000 Cal.had fruit, veggies and ate healthy.
