I am feeling much better today. I am ready to go back to work slowly. I will walk again today before going out to work in the weed bed. The sun is out and smoke isn't too bad so it should be a lovely day. Nice and cool for being out there. Have a good day everyone.

I guess I overdid it over the weekend and pulled a muscle in my back. I know better but got on a roll and just forgot to quit. I am hoping that by tomorrow I will be ready to get back at it. I do like to walk and will get back to that first. Have a good day everyone and keep moving. No matter how you chose to move it all helps.

am from Bangladesh seen so many changes in my 73 years am active now trying to lose some weight walk sideways 20 minutes again walk taking longer strides forward but walk backwards back for about 10inutes & chair marching for 20 minutes also do different types of physiotherapy exercises

Keep moving like you are, be sure you are drinking lots of water . I made a great baked oatmeal this evening and a tuna salad with white beans. I walk for a mile and a half every morning, but it takes me about 50 minutes. Keep it up, we can do this! I still have 100 pounds to lose, but will get there!

Hi there 70's...just celebrated the big 70 last week! Wow...what a celebration with family, etc. Now I am returning to normal (?) life, and happy to hear that 70 is the new 50! Phew! I have a Fitbit and walk everyday. Try to do 2 walks, but with arthritis, some days just don't get 2! My dog is my inspiration to get out every morning and my husband is very supportive. He has lost over 40 lbs.! I am trying to lose 10 pounds, which doesn't sound like much, but, as most of you know, it is NOT EASY! These boards, and recording my food each day really helps me and keeps me on track. Love to read posts from all of you. Oh...I walk for about 30 min. every morning and then again in the afternoon for about 15 min. I also love yoga and pilates, which help my body, but really help my psyche!

I'm 76, so your not alone. It's never too late to lose weight. I have been walking 2 miles for 6 months and now I'm going to increase the distance. I'd like to do a 3 k in the fall.

You can do it. How do you measure your walking? I use an Omron and record my steps on Spark every night. My Spark goal is 6,000 steps, but when I can I try to get in 10000 for my own satisfaction.

Eliminate the soda - make it one of your goals. Start with the 10 minutes of exercise, but increase it week by week. Review your goals daily and add to them gradually. We can do this!

Right now I'd be happy to lose 5 lbs but eventually my goal is 100 lbs. I'm going with moderation in everything but with a concentration on more veggies, lower carbs and sugar. I've cut way back on my soda consumption and increased my water consumption. I've also joined the 10 minutes of exercise daily challenge. Yes I'm committed. Spark People has helped tremendously all ready and the more I read on the website the more I learn. I'm not as weight loss phobic as I have been in the past. Now I'm more concerned with staying within my calorie limit along with the things I mentioned previously here. I'm also trying not to let the numbers on the scale push my buttons. I want to pay more attention to how I feel and how my clothes fit. I've got a lot of health issues that make it hard for me to lose weight but I still keep fighting and moving forward on my journey.

I am 70. Started Spark about a month ago. Several years ago I lost about 70-80 pounds and kept it off pretty well until I messed up a ligament in my ankle. A year in an ankle brace and I gained about 50 pounds back. I am learning to walk again. I still have to hold on to the treadmill, but I have been walking outside also and I can weave around out there. Yesterday I got on my bike (4 minutes) for the first time in over a year. Today I did 7 minutes. I had an eating setback on Sunday when we ate with relatives, but am back on track again. I have been trying to eat healthy and with appropriate portions.

I start with a fresh slate every morning and will get there!

Thank you, I will just keep at it. I'm 75 reasonably good health so I don't have any good excuse, but I can come up with numerous reasons why I'm unable to exercise and stay on food plans. I just reinforcement as to why I need to keep on track. I think this board will do it. THANK YOU!

Hello all you over 70's. It's a beautiful Tuesday here in Northern California. Good day to go outside and walk for awhile. I've been trying to get in some form of exercise everyday. I'm starting to feel the difference. More energy and I'm sleeping really well. Want to keep this up along with thinking about what and when I'm eating. Better late than never they say and I agree. We can all feel good and do good thing for ourselves. We deserve it. Any tips for me to keep going? Have a wonderful day and 3 cheers for SP. They really are a blessing. emoticon

Starting over today. emoticon I too am over 70 and anxious to get fit again so I can enjoy going and doing. I live in Rigby, Idaho a beautiful place in the mountains with many things to do and see. I have been lazy and become sedentary this past winter, got to get my mind back on the important things like taking care of my health and traveling. My goal for this year is to see Alaska with my sister. My mindless eating has taken over and I have gained about 20 pounds this last year. Any ideas to help control this bad habit? I like to sew, work in the wood shop, 4 wheel, and do anything outdoors, I just get bored and put off doing any of that and stay inside.

Good on the cardio and breakfast. I sure wish I could get back in the habit of breakfast. I have never liked it and don't think I ever will. I have a snack about 9:30 in the morning and then lunch.

Hi, I'm new to this site. Glad to see there are others my age (73) that are having weight problems. In my younger days I did WW and reached my goal, but where I now live there isn't a class near me. I've been doing Sparks for the past 13 1/2 months and have lost 55#. Got a long way to go but I believe it's worth it. I noticed that other people have trouble with plateaus. I found that if I go vegetarian for 3 to 4 days this breaks the chain. emoticon

That would be very scary. I hope you weren't hurt too badly. Inside walking is just as good. Any exercise is good. I am going to vacumn and do a little cleaning today. I am very short of breath and will need to use my oxygen but that is fine. I will go slow and get something done. I hope to walk a little to. It is supposed to warm up and it is sunny, I can handle that. At least it is above 0 this morning.

I like to walk outside in the summer when there is no ice or rain. It has been really icy this year so it has been dangerous walking. I have used the Sit and Be Fit DVD's for streatching exercises and they are very good. I have several of their DVD's.
